Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

lexilooo I know the feeling, you feel like you should be that much down from your lowest not only just back there don't you.

jax to be fair I'm lighter now than at my booking appointment according to my scales, I'm just a lot wider meaning my clothes don't fit properly. Unfortunately I haven't been able to exercise properly as I had a c section so didnt want to hurt myself but I think I should be ok now.

Well done all Star can’t scroll back now on my phone (grumble) but great to hear progress and moving forward and encouragement. @jaxhwc yes I think I started losing weight with my first... um... 11 months down the line?! With my second after about 2 months or so I started but I gained like 3 stone and thought if I didn’t start then, I never would! Also I can’t breastfeed so that wasn’t a consideration for me, which must add to the complexity because of the extra nutrition needed.

2.6lb lost so far which I’m happy with, especially as it's TOM and we had a treat meal this week (in terms of both calories and carbs) but all still going well and still feel committed to LCHF, I think it’s taken me ages just to find a natural way of eating for me but this one seems to work. Also for the last two weeks I’ve not been tracking on Fitbit Shock which means I’ve not had a calorie count alongside looking at carbs, but I think I’m getting better at understanding what is reasonable! As I get further along if it’s not sustainable I’ll track again however, we’ll see how it goes.

I’ve had a bit of a stocktake and I’ve lost 17.8lb since April (about 11lb of that in the last two months on this thread), I have 14.6lb to go until my initial goal of 10 stone, my ultimate goal is somewhere between 9 and 10 stone (at 9.5 stone I look slim, even though it’s still towards the upper end of healthy for my height, has always been that way although I know BMI isn’t perfect, so I would be very happy with that).

Haven’t done any exercise, strengthening etc though (other than walking) Blush really need to do that.

Weekly weigh in. Have lost another 2lbs- so still on track to lose half a stone in August.Smile
Now lost total of 1 st 9lbs since 1st June.
Had serious wobble yesterday- family bag of crisps at breakfast, cheese and crackers at lunch and an entire focaccia in the evening... I'm supposedly moderate carbing within 1200 calories but I lost the plot yesterday...
I think it was trying to eat some salad leaves that felt and tasted like a bowlful of fabric scraps that did for me, plus the colder temperature.

Worst of everything, did my swimming training but was a weak as a kitten. Just no strength in my arms, no speed or endurance.

Happinessisabook · 11/08/2018 09:36

Weighed same today as I did yesterday.
Very happy with that considering last night i had McDonalds 20 chicken nuggets and milkshake, a donut for afters and a very large gin Blush

Peach6789 · 11/08/2018 11:14

I blew it this week. Was doing well at the beginning then my heath problems flared up and going out to have a nice meal to celebrate turned into takeaway. Wouldn't be too bad but we ordered far too much and I ended up eating leftovers for another 2 days.
Weight this morning is back at square one. My stomach looks big and round so feeling self-conscious to boot.
Staying out again this weekend, just about to set off and will be back for tea tomorrow. Trying to stay positive and not write the weekend off before it starts. Will update after tea tomorrow.

Have a good weekend everyone!

jaxhwc · 11/08/2018 13:46

beforeihit30 i blame hormones and chocolate cravings! I gained 4 stone somehow from month 5-9 of pregnancy. I gained weight like crazy. I think it's because I was eating to tame the heartburn so I just ate constantly. I also lived opposite a well know American Cheesecake shop Grinif I decide to have another I would do everything differently.

jaxhwc · 11/08/2018 13:53

So yesterday was a bit crap but not terrible. My DH came home early from work (he's normally away in the week) we went for lunch and I ate bbq sauce and beans and a Diet Coke which gave me massive sugar cravings later on so I nibbled a bit of cookie and DH kept putting milk in my coffee. So overall I think those little bits would have pushed my carbs up too high, stalling things but not ruining it entirely. I didn't manage my 5k walk for 2 days in a row but went this morning. DH is out all today so he won't be here to tempt me with all his baked products he eats all day long!

It's tough when your partner is doing the opposite to you! Trying to stay focused though.

AnaChocolatte · 11/08/2018 16:41

I'm a bit late but would like to join in. I have been dieting for ages actually - depressingly looking at my weight app I've been gaining and losing the same 10lbs for over a year.

Hoping to overall go from 9st 10lbs which was my weight on 1st of August down to 9st 3lb by 1st of September - then another 7lb in September and I'd be well on my way to my goal weight of 8st 3lbs. I'm 5ft 2 so don't carry any of this weight well and am apple shaped too!

It's good to read all your experiences, I've been trying for a low cal and low carb approach which seems doable to me.

Gilbert82 · 11/08/2018 17:50

Weighed myself this morning and have only lost half a lb this week which is disappointing but at least I didn’t gain! I still haven’t managed to start the 30 day shred dvd I bought as our DVD player was on the blink but seems to be sorted now so will start on Monday!
You all sound like you’re doing really well Grin
My goal is to get down to 9st7lb by the end of the month (I’m currently 9st11.5lbs), should be doable but I’m just really bad at sticking to diets and eat out of boredom in the evenings once the baby is in bed!

theredjellybean · 12/08/2018 12:06

I weighed in at 152.6lbs today.
I just low calorie it, some days carbs some days no carbs.
Just basically not eating very much.
Love my new slimmer body.
I have now lost 10.5 lbs since mid June.
So pleased

jaxhwc · 12/08/2018 14:28

Very good jellybean! I bet that feels good Star

theredjellybean · 12/08/2018 14:31

Thanks jax... That made me feel extra good

Fluffiest · 13/08/2018 07:22

Terrible undisciplined weekend that included a party and a glorious can of Dr Pepper. And a disappointing chocolate muffin that was dry and not worth the calories.

Miraculously, I only gained 1lb back and have still lost 3lbs since start of August. So I am back on it today. Packed a chicken salad for lunch, have a healthy tea lined up this evening and I'm going to exercise this evening when my DH puts the kid to bed.

Got my determined head on today!

Peach6789 · 13/08/2018 08:51

Didn't do as well as I hoped at the weekend.

I wasn't at home for any meals and just ate what everyone else was having. So purely junk food. Seriously no veg, salad or anything was made.

Think I need to spend some weekends at home and all this junk food the last 5 days put me at a higher weight than I started. Plus a flare-up of the health problems that I avoid carbs for.

The cravings are going to be strong today, so going to try get out between meals but come home to eat. Lots of salad, plain chicken and veg only today I think.

jaxhwc · 13/08/2018 12:37

So first weigh in after 1 week and I'm 200.2lb! I said if I get down to the 200 Mark I'd be elated so I'm pretty pleased about this. Total loss this week of 7.2lb with lchf. To be honest I've hardly eaten the last 3 days because I haven't been hungry at all from this diet.

theredjellybean · 13/08/2018 12:41

Jaxh that's absolutely fantastic.
Wow
What's the next goal?
I wanted to be 155lbs by 24 August holiday but now at 152.5 so new goal is to keep this steady and not yoyo round it.

jaxhwc · 13/08/2018 12:57

Yes it's good but a small victory in the grand scheme so I'll keep on going. It's my birthday in just over a week so I'd like to lose another 5lb before then. That's a high goal but I'm heavier so it seems to come off quicker and if things continue as they are it's doable I'd say. As long as my husband stays away with his baked products I'll be fine!!

jaxhwc · 13/08/2018 12:58

150 would be my ultimate goal jellybean that's a good weight to be at

theredjellybean · 13/08/2018 13:00

Jaxh... Small victories add up to huge wins.
Take it in small blocks of weight loss, that are achievable and with each one your confidence in being able to achieve end goal overall will get stronger.

Happinessisabook · 13/08/2018 13:46

I've had a very bad weekend Blush
Curry with sil on Saturday, then fiance took me out yesterday while bil had dc so I gaff a burger then popcorn.

I'm being good today and hopefully it hasn't done lasting damage.

Well done jax, that's a great loss, and jellybean that's brilliant too!

pliable · 13/08/2018 13:55

Hi all, I lost 2.6kg in 2 weeks on LCHF and intermittent 16:8 (meaning I skip breakfast). Down from 69.9kg on 28 July to 67.3 on Sat 11 July.

Is that too fast/aggressive? I'm feeling well, full of energy, can sleep well and mostly not hungry. I'm not exercising at all, apart from walking to the train station ... but also did 3 long Sunday walks (10-14 miles each).

My next goal is to get to 66.x kg by Saturday morning, which I know isn't much (but so far I lost much more than the target).

I have 2 very low carb high fat meals a day - usually between 12-1 and 6-8pm. Not much snacking - apart from when I went hiking, I'm snacking on pecans, macadamia, almonds. 2 coffees a day and a ton of water. Tea once in a while, no milk.

I just feel like maybe it's all too sudden and my skin will get flabby and maybe I should do it at a slower pace?

My target by 1st of September is to get to 64-65 kg, then I want to slowly lose 5 more kg by Christmas, to get to 59-60 kg.

thanks

WhenDoISleep · 13/08/2018 15:21

Gosh, I forgot about this thread. Managed to gain and lose 2lbs in the first week, so am currently the same weight as the start of the month.

jaxhwc · 13/08/2018 15:36

Pliable I think that's normal on lchf not too aggressive but I share your concerns about getting wobbly. I do feel a bit wobbly now.

A friend of mine used to eat half a sweet potato and then do strength/resistance exercises only every other day which worked well. She used all the carbs in the sweet potato for energy and then could tone up a bit.

OublietteBravo · 13/08/2018 20:26

I’m definitely finding that I’m better at eating sensibly during the week than at weekends.

It’s fairly easy to stick to my MFP calories during the week. I’m at work, so not really tempted to snack. Plus I like vegetables. So replacing pasta/rice/potatoes with vegetables (and staying away from alcohol) means I can eat 3 meals a day and still hit my target.

Weekends are another kettle of fish. I’ve been away from home for the past 3 weekends - either eating out or at someone else’s house. Plus it is much harder to avoid alcohol during social occasions. Weekends are hard - I need to work out what to do about them.

pliable · 14/08/2018 09:39

@OublietteBravo

Regarding alcohol, I believe champagne, dry prosecco, dry wines, and dry martinis are the best if you're dieting. And vodka and tequila and whiskey :) But it might depend on the type of diet.
