Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

I've been stuck on 11st 4 for the last couple of weeks. I've been ill this week so done hardly any exercise which might account for it. So only 4lbs lost this month so far and I really wanted to get down to 11 stone before my holiday at the end of the month.

beforeihit30 · 22/08/2018 21:46

We’re edging towards the end of the month, and the end of summer! (That’s what it feels like to me)

Hope you’re all well Star

Continuing my gradual decline which is good, slow and steady but continuing which is the key. Noticed some other changes - best one is my skin is remarkably clearer, I’ve had problems with blemishes since my early teens (note: that was a while ago) which did get better in my early 20s, and was quickly scuppered by having children! So to actually have clear skin is amazing so I’m feeling really good about that. I thought it was just my skincare routine, which I changed a while back, but I looked at the months and realised the improvement in my skin perfectly coincides with the changes in my diet (to LCHF).

I've not weighed myself for a while, I'm trying to work on confidence and self esteem at the minute.
I've been and had my hair and nails done and booked a facial and starting to feel a bit better about myself.
I don't think I've lost much weight, but my jeans are pretty loose. Probably can't get in a smaller size yet but these are definitely too big whereas a few weeks ago they were tight.

beforeihit30 · 22/08/2018 23:47

That sounds great Happiness. Earlier this year I started something similar (hair cut, new make up) having felt rubbish for ages and really low confidence, and it helped a lot, and just taking time to use a face mask or cleanse properly in he evening with some decent products, it’s good to take care of ourselves in various ways Smile

So I tried on a pair of my old size 10 jeans this morning. A bit tight on my legs and maybe an inch or so from being able to close the button, but I got them up!
Not managed to get them past my thighs since before I got pregnant. Regardless of the scale I'm happy with that Smile

beforeihit30 · 25/08/2018 08:54

Grin Great Happiness!

Can’t believe it’s nearly September Confused I feel like this year has passed very quickly!

Weight loss on the scales has been poor but clothes feeling looser and people have commented on me looking slimmer.

Just been for a follow up blood test to see if my hba1c has lowered since loosing weight.

theredjellybean · 25/08/2018 15:07

i have just done final weigh in before going on holiday later today.
i started mid june and weighed 163 lbs
Now weigh 154 lbs.
I am thrilled , and going to be careful on holiday as like being slimmer
, i had loads of compliments ( and i wasnt hugely overweight before most friends alwasy said i looked fine and had nice figure) .
Best of all this time last year when i went on holiday i weighed 166 lbs
so over the year i have lost 12 lbs.
I am happyish at 154 and dont think i can starve down to any lighter but am going to work on my running stamina and try to tone up back when i am home from hols.
well done everyone else , esp those of us who started way back ...

Shedders · 26/08/2018 09:31

Well done everyone. I’m keeping on track and confident I’m gonna come in on target next week 😃 keep up the good work

Smarshian · 26/08/2018 09:56

Also keeping on track and a meal out I had planned for tonight has been cancelled- disappointing but good for the diet! X

greyallover · 26/08/2018 16:12

Well I've been awol for a while because it was my birthday last week and I ate my body weight in sweet and sour chicken. I avoided last Monday's weigh in but I suspect I will have gained as the previous weight was after days of not eating anything. We'll see tomorrow, trying to stay on track today but very hard with dh home and going to events without anything low carb on offer.

Lougle · 26/08/2018 23:35

I'm 60.2kg at the moment. My size 10 cords are actually loose and a pair of skinny jeans that wouldn't go past my thighs a few weeks ago fit quite nicely, although another couple of weeks before they are a perfect fit, I think.

jaxhwc · 27/08/2018 11:48

So today's weigh in I'm 199.2lb. Basically the same as last week. That's 8.2lb down from my starting weight but I think I'll need to crank up the exercise to shift the rest.

Lougle · 27/08/2018 15:20

I'm down to 60.0kg this morning, which I'm pleased with, because I had an ice-cream in town yesterday, so expected to see that on the scales. I'm not going to make half a stone in August, though. Currently at 1.8kg (4lb), but happy with that.

beforeihit30 · 27/08/2018 22:16

Good going everyone Smile only a few days left!

I’m on leave now (finally!) and DH and I fancied a big treat, we got takeaway and dessert, and I don’t feel guilty or anything like that (probably won’t bother weighing for a couple of days, I know I’ll likely see more tomorrow with bloat, water weight etc from the takeaway as well as calories so not going to bother until the bloat and water has calmed). But it was nice for us actually to consider that we haven’t done that in about 3 months at least, where that could be weekly in the past Blush so treats really are treats, when we really fancy it, but the rest of the time we’re happy with our new way of eating.

Not sure I’ll be 7lb down by this weekend but hopefully at least in the 5lb region which would be really good.

Will you be starting a new thread for September?

beforeihit30 · 28/08/2018 12:30

@jaxhwc absolutely! Still got a way to go myself, and seems to be popular, probably good timing too for lots of post holiday weight loss!

OP posts:
delphguelph · 28/08/2018 13:19

'll hop in if you guys don't mind.

I was also on the July thread but that didn't work out well as I didn't lose anything! Holidays, wine and ice cream got in the way.

BUT I'm in the right frame of mind now. There's a few similar people to me on this thread w/r to a low carb WOE : I do this too, not much bread, not much pasta but eat lentils, carby veg, potatoes etc.

Trying to make the most of the still light nights by getting my bike rides in, am planning to restart spinning when the weather gets too rubbish. Love spinning, once I'm there it's amazing but can be a drag to get myself offa the sofa to the class!

delphguelph · 28/08/2018 13:21

Just seen the post about the sept thread, will check in there once it's up and running!

Threeminis · 30/08/2018 08:55

I've done it! By the skin of my teeth.
I was doing so well - lost 11lb. Then had a shitty week this week and gained 3 Angry

Sorry I've been so shit at posting.. I've been reading though.
There are some great losses here - to those who haven't lost, check your measurements. Sometimes you may not have "lost weight" but may have lost inches..
I'll join in the next thread too if that's ok? I'll try to be better at posting too.

Shedders · 30/08/2018 09:05

good luck to everyone weighing next few days, I will be doing mine on Sunday so will update then. Fingers crossed for you all

jaxhwc · 30/08/2018 12:25

Well I'm going to make this my last weigh in and I'm 196.6lb from 207.4lb starting weight which is a loss of 10.8lb. I'm happy with that and if I can do that next month I'll be well on my way to my original weight. thank you for starting this thread! It has really kept me motivated Smile

WhenDoISleep · 30/08/2018 17:36

Well done to everyone who has lost weight this month - I've been losing and regaining the same couple of pounds, so am pretty much the same weight as I started the month at.

Will check in for September if there is a new thread.

beforeihit30 · 30/08/2018 19:24

Fantastic losses!

Not sure what mine is, weighing tomorrow, I’m not expecting a full 7lb, perhaps in the 4-5lb region, which I would be very happy with.

Off to make the next thread... will post it here!
