Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

PS. I had prosecco and champagne and I didn't notice any slow down, but when I had white wine it did slow down things. I don't have more than 1-2 glasses though.

Fluffiest · 14/08/2018 09:58

It's a shame that red wine is my favourite drink! I do like whisky but only when the weather is a bit colder!

Today's weight is 9st12 so I've dipped under the 10st mark. Feel really pleased about that. I turn 30 in November so I have motivation to get trim for then!

OublietteBravo · 14/08/2018 18:37

‘But DH, I can only drink champagne’
Grin

I can see that going down well (especially as DH doesn’t like champagne).

pliable · 14/08/2018 19:59

If it makes you feel AND look better, why not? :)

I love champagne but cava and prosecco are good substitutes. I'm going to a BBQ on Saturday - here's one what I bought for £6.50

@fluffiest: dry red wine is fine :)

Urgh I seem to be stuck in a plateau 😫 have been hovering around 86kg all month, gaining a bit losing a bit all within about half a kilo. Can't seem to really get things moving.

I am staying within my calories each day apart from the wedding weekend at the begining of the month when I didn't track. MFP is set to a loss of 1lb a week so I should lose even if I eat to that limit and with exercise I should lose more so I am not really sure what to do.

Might have to get drastic and significantly cut back on wine 😱

Fluffiest · 16/08/2018 16:17

Oh no! Not the wine! Maybe switch to Prosecco? Smile

I was in a plateau too for a bit. Finally dipped so feel good. I have started piling my plate with broccoli spears and asparagus at night to leave less room for buttery mash potato and other lovely cars. That seems to have made a difference for me. But I need to think of other quick, easy and tasty veg that I can use to bulk out evening meals.

Peach6789 · 17/08/2018 10:22

I've been ill this week, didn't get to the supermarket between last weekend when we were away and being ill so nothing none junk/snacky in and DP left to do the shopping. Means I've eaten mainly carbs and of that been mostly pizza, pasta and garlic bread.

Feeling better today so hoping to get back to doing better but supposed to be going out for lunch today and going out for at least one birthday celebration this weekend, and another on next Friday.

Fitting for my wedding dress next month and I'm really not happy with my size. Ordered myself a new swimming costume and planning on going at least every other day and upping my treadmill time. Going to try doing a bit of youtube yoga too, if my joints can manage it.

Smarshian · 18/08/2018 07:34

How's everyone's week going? I've started going to a circuits class once a week and am thoroughly enjoying it. Hoping to add in another class next month. Weighed in on Tuesday and had maintained my weight at 156lb but I put that down to the wine at the weekend. We have started potty training and it was necessary!
Anyway the potty training is going much better now and I've been working extra hard the last few days to keep on plan (slimming world) so hopefully will see a good loss this week.

beforeihit30 · 18/08/2018 08:04

Morning all! Haven’t been on for a little while, just busy and falling asleep very quickly in the evening Grin

Lexilooo I’ve been hovering for a while as well, but finally had a breakthrough this morning (at last!) - sometimes that happens for me, you may get a breakthrough soon as well?

I’ve not been tracking (feeling brave) but still losing so yay. So far I’ve lost 3.4lb since the beginning of the month, so just very slightly over 1lb a week loss which is good. However main thing is my breakthrough means I’ve also broken into the 10 stone camp! Shock only just (I’m like 10 stone 13.8 pounds...!) but I’m there!

Ive had a better week. I've lost 2.5lb since 8 August, bringing my total loss for the month to 3.5lb. I'm only travelling for one day this weekend, so hoping I can have a better weekend than usual. I need another good week - I'm going on holiday next Friday.

Lougle · 18/08/2018 09:16

I've been away in Spain and France over the last 2 weeks. I managed to weigh myself yesterday and was 61.3kg, so I'm happy that I've managed to lose 0.1kg despite some nice holiday food. It must have been pushing DD1's wheelchair over the cobbled streets of Madrid!

pliable · 18/08/2018 10:47

Lost 0.3kg in one full week, I'm probably plateau-ing. Need to change something, don't know what, because I'm not eating a lot. 16:8ing and LCFHing.

Wait, I know what... I need to exercise more.

I'm at 67kg sharp. Need to see 66.x by next Sat.

Enjoy the weekend everyone! Eat and drink sensibly :)

jaxhwc · 18/08/2018 12:18

Well I'm down to 195.2lb so I reached my goal of 5lb already but that's only because I have eaten next to nothing this week due to anxiety. I wish I could eat in fact, it would make me feel much better I'm sure but I just can't stomach it. On the bright side I've lost a total of 12.2lb in under two weeks which is pretty drastic!

JulianOfNorwich · 18/08/2018 14:00

Quitting for now. Have lost 1 stone 10 since 1st June but unfortunately it's left me too weak for my swimming. Got a competition (masters - I'm 51) in a month's time. Think I'd rather be heavier and stronger rather than lighter and weak. Good luck all- keep on keeping on.

Happinessisabook · 18/08/2018 14:45

I've struggled the past week or so.
Been emotionally eating I think. Really don't want to weigh myself because I feel horrible and don't want to see what the damage has been.

Anyone got any tips on improving self esteem and body confidence?

jaxhwc · 18/08/2018 15:08

Happiness don't weigh yourself and just say "I haven't reached my goal......yet" it's not over, you haven't failed, you can pick it up and continue.

Body confidence- no idea, I've struggled with that all my life.

Ethiopianflower · 18/08/2018 16:36

What helps me with body confidence is in the morning take a real effort to look good - hair, make up and clothes and shoes. So much of the time I don’t make an effort and look so slobby. I find when I do make the effort I feel so much better and get compliments.

eltsihT · 19/08/2018 09:30

Well I have gone from 70.1kg last Sunday to 70kg today, not a huge loss but as it’s been DH birthday, and we have eaten out a lot I am quite happy. Onwards and downwards next week as we get started on the new school year!

Peach9876 · 19/08/2018 22:36

Another bad weekend. I'm adamant I'm going to stick to my diet this week, although I have a meal out on Friday. Don't have much planned for the weekend so hoping it will offset Friday night.

I'm hoping the weight I put back on in the last week and a bit will come back off easily, but I'm also upping my exercise a bit. Still only doing low impact stuff. Upping my swimming and upping my walking. Going to walk to supermarket tomorrow as long as it isn't raining.

Shedders · 20/08/2018 07:29

Hi everyone, Been missing in action a little as lots going on at home, but things seem to have settled a bit now. weighed this morning and i'm 4 pound down for the month so far so really pleased with that. I've stopped trying to follow lCHF, just couldn't get my head straight so now i'm just being mindful of what i'm eating and not snacking.Keeping around 1100-1200 cals. Seems to be doing the trick. well done to everyone who's lost and those who are trying hard. Keep going x

Lougle · 20/08/2018 10:56

I'm home from holidays now, and my weigh in this morning is 60.5kg (9st 7lb 6oz). So from a starting weight of 65.9kg, and an end of July weight of 62.1kg, I've lost 5.4kg (11lb 14oz) overall and 1.6kg (3.5lb) so far in August.

Peach9876 · 20/08/2018 11:22

A good morning so far.
I was planning on a walk to the shops this morning, but I'm shattered so going to see how I am after swimming.
New swimming stuff I ordered doesn't fit right, my boobs are too big and look like they are trying to escape and neither or the shorts are right either. Need to sort the printer and take them to the post office. Any suggestions for a larger lady with an 'ample' bussom? I'm struggling to find a tankini that is right for me, with shorts. I like to be as covered as possible when swimming without looking too odd or spending a fortune. Looking for size 16-18 (more 18) 38F.

beforeihit30 · 20/08/2018 13:03

@Peach9876 have you tried Bravissimo? Not sure what cost is like as haven’t bought swimming stuff in years, but they used to do swimming gear in large cup sizes, and they have their own approach to clothes sizes, so basically it’s like your clothes size plus your bra size and it works out if you’re, eg 16 Curvy, 16 Extra Curvy etc and so it’s designed to fit better in that way. They did tankinis, swimming suits, shorts, etc.

So I've weighed in today at 151.5 which is a 4.5lb loss from last week. I'm so pleased! My initial goal is 142 so not far to go now. 2 weeks til my holiday, would like to be 147 by then.
