Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

Also is anyone doing intermittent fasting with keto? Should I attempt this when I'm just starting out or will it make me ill?

MuddyElephant · 04/08/2018 20:06

@jaxhwc I weigh first thing (naked and after my morning wee😂) as I'm well aware it's likely when I am at my lightest. I don't thibk it really matters though as long as you are consistent, that way loses will be more accurate

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 04/08/2018 20:07

Am I too late to join? I’m desperately trying to shift half a stone before my wedding dress fitting at the end of August and so far all I’ve done is upgrade my scales and found that my previous ones were underweighing me by 2kg Shock.

Imsorrylhaventaclue · 04/08/2018 20:12

Actually, that’s a lie - I did 3 days of an exercise video and screwed my ankle, and did low-cal for about 4 days before feeling ill and medicating with lasagne Blush.

jaxhwc · 04/08/2018 20:28

Thanks muddy and I'll make sure I have a wee to decrease it a bit 😂

Happinessisabook · 04/08/2018 20:29

Just got back from a long weekend away at the seaside. I've pretty much eaten chips since Wednesday so I feel like shit. I have been walking a lot so burning more calories than usual though. Fitbit has daily burn at between 3600-4000 for the last few days so hopefully the chips haven't caused too many problems!
Will weigh myself in the morning and update then.

I'm seriously going to start being massively dedicated. I feel so fat and awful at the minute, I don't feel like me at all. I'm desperate to lose at least 2 stone.

I'm going to try lchf again, and make sure I do eat enough fat so I dont get hangry (I'm a carb addict). Ive also got an exercise DVD and some apps on my phone so intending to do minimum 30 minutes but ideally an hour every day.

jaxhwc · 04/08/2018 20:30

I'm starting low carb on Monday, my sons bday tomorrow and lots of cake shall be had so no point starting until then. Bought some scales today so that's a start.

theredjellybean · 04/08/2018 21:08

Had an evening off.. A bit.. Had glass and half of wine and five chocolates.
Up to that point my calories had been 850 today and I'd done 8km run this morning.
So maybe won't be too disastrous

MuddyElephant · 04/08/2018 21:45

@theredjellybean sounds like a great night off!

MuddyElephant · 04/08/2018 21:47

@happinessisabook @jaxhwc I'm going to try lchf too 👍 let us know how it goes

AlexanderHamilton · 04/08/2018 21:50

I’ve not entered my meals into Mfp today but it’s been a bit unusual

Dd needed to be in town for a 9am dance class so we went for breakfast which sort of turned into brunch. Two doorstop rounds of beans on toast. Gorgeous but I dread to think the calories. I also bought a piece of chocolate & walnut brownie to take away & had it mid afternoon with a cup of tea.

Dh & Dd incidentally had a lower calorie apple crumble from the same shop. The owner explained there was a small amount of fat in the crumble but all the sweetness came from the stewed apples & cinnamon. 240 calories for a huge slice which they shared between 2.

Tea was much better. chicken breast butterflied & grilled on the barbecue with baby new potatoes & a salad (lettuce, cabbage, grated carrot, sweet corn). I really enjoyed it.

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 05/08/2018 09:13

Just checking in. Doing ok so far. I suspect my start weight was artificially high as I have Just started my period, and I always bloat up badly a few days beforehand. So my week 1 might look a lot better than it really is Grin

Off to a good start today. Went for a swim nice and early - who knew the pool would be so busy at 7am on a Sunday?! - and haven't eaten anything due to period pains. I will have a bacon and cream cheese bagel and fruit before work. Dunno about dinner.

Happinessisabook · 05/08/2018 09:24

So I'm 79.5kg today after 4 days of eating far too much. That's only a 0.9kg gain so not too bad. Aim is still ~73kg by the end of the month, I'm going to be seriously dedicated now.

beforeihit30 · 05/08/2018 10:30

I think the hot weather is helping, I can never eat as much in the heat Grin will have to prepare for when winter comes!

A weird shift is getting used to just not eating as much. DH and I are foodies, it’s our main hobby (hence how we got overweight!!), love watching cooking shows etc. But we eat twice a day now usually as we’re just not hungry (we’re eating plenty of calories and fat etc), and when we eat we eat less.

I need a new hobby! We still watch cooking shows and there are plenty of things we can experiment with, but as there’s only so much we can eat and we’re low carb I don’t spend my weekends roasting and baking constantly Blush am doing plenty of laundry though!

running became my new hobby when i first lost loads of weight..swiftly followed by shopping for new lingerie ( which is my obsession/addiction) ..the joy of being a ' normal size' has never faded...

my chocs and wine didnt do any damage and stayed same today at my lowest 154.4 lbs...

it is really inspiring this thread..and i am seeing my appetite drop too.

jaxhwc · 05/08/2018 12:14

Right so just weighed myself for the first time in 6 months and I'm 207lb which feels quite terrible but I'm putting it here because I need to be accountable and face it. I feel very motivated by it. I was 160lb before I got pregnant! Wtf!!

theredjellybean · 05/08/2018 12:27

welcome jax and you will be ok, it can be done, look at it in 7lb chunks...much easier than saying 'right i have to lose 47lbs'

aim for 200lbs first ...

beforeihit30 · 05/08/2018 12:32

@theredjellybean I’ve just bought a programme on Fitness Blender which I’m starting today, it’s low impact and mainly for flexibility but I need that. I have musculoskeletal problems but used to be quite fine when I was active, however moved to a desk job, more stress, gained weight and this caused me loads of issues. Got discharged from physio about a month ago green lit to start building strength and pushing myself so I’m starting with that. Great idea, thanks!

@jaxhwc you can do it! I always think it’s a sort of ‘just do it’ thing, I mean in terms of trying and taking each day as it comes, and playing the long game as weight can fluctuate but the downward trend and good habits are the main thing. When I first had weight to lose post DC2 I was 188lb and then got down to 150lb which took me 6 months (but last year I gained like 15-20lb Shock for a whole bunch of reasons related to the above).

I’m now nearly back at 150lb (now 154lb). Last time I was 140lb was 8 years ago, last time I was 130-135lb was 11 years ago, my aim is the 130-140lb region, which ever sticks!

jaxhwc · 05/08/2018 13:34

Thanks both!! Very motivating, yes 7lb by the end of August is very doable I think if I stick to my plan. I'm going to walk at least 5k a day mon-fri and then start the lchf tomorrow. I have the spreadsheet from the lc boot camp on here which has some very handy carb calculating things on.

Carolwithane · 05/08/2018 20:15

I had over 2000cals in alcohol yesterday! ShockBlush

Plus 3 meals! Only saving grace is that I didn't buy a takeaway on the way home or toast a full loaf of bread when I got in

Not hungover today but been absolutely starving since about 2pm - damn it

Ethiopianflower · 05/08/2018 21:18

Don’t worry carolwithane it happens to us all!! We have good days and bad days. It’s a long ol journey - hard to be a goodie two shoes all the time. I feel at times I’m getting nowhere and am sorely tempted to open a 12 pack bag of crisps and devour the lot, but have resisted........ so far

MuddyElephant · 05/08/2018 21:20

flower stay strong!

Eeek DH and I have just agreed to go swimming after work tomorrow. No idea if any of my swimwear even fits 😬

lou1221 · 05/08/2018 21:30

Can I join please? I'm using mfp, and going to the gym about 2/3 a week. Doing over 10000 steps a day, but just cannot seem to lose weight. I need to lose about 2 stone, im 11.2 @ 5'2.

Lexilooo · 06/08/2018 09:16

I'm back after an extremely busy and indulgent weekend at a wedding!

Was holding my breath a bit when I weighed in this morning to see what two days of puddings, potatoes and bread had done! I'm 86.3kg this morning so not as bad as I feared (must have been the dancing) but still higher than my starting weight this month.

Going to have a couple of strict days to get back on track I think. Lots of water today too.

RunningOverTheSameOldGround · 06/08/2018 09:28

May I join you please? I love these threads. Mumsnet at it’s encouraging best Smile.

I have just seen a photo of myself in a swimsuit and oh, my cellulite Blush!

Doing MFP and jogging from today. Will aim to jog / swim / yoga three times a week minimum. More if possible.

YY to loads of water. I’m rubbish at drinking enough water. No Wine either Sad.
