Had a lovely weekend away . Found it very difficult to stick to plan while away as places we were able to eat at weren't really what I needed. Lots of alcohol consumed too.
As I said, back on plan today and feeling motivated. I have four days to weigh in and hopefully I can shift something by the time I get on those scales.

Recipe - really nice for lunch.

Sweetcorn bisque with spring onion
This was adapted from a cookbook from the British Heart Foundation and is utterly delicious and free on green and original!

Fry light
1 chopped onion
1 chopped carrot
1 chopped stick of celery
2 cloves crushed garlic
half teaspoon turmeric
2 pints water
4 corn on the cob
salt to taste
cayenne to tast
handful chopped spring onions

Heat frylight in large saucepan. Add onion, carrot, celery and garlic and cook for 2 mins. Stir in turmeric and cook for about 1 min. Add water and simmer.
Cut corn kernal from cob and set aside. Add cob to saucepan and simmer for 10 mins. Save about 50g of sweetcorn kernal and add remainder of corn kernal to pan and simmer for further 10 mins. Remove corn cobs. Blend the soup until smooth. Add reserved sweet corn and spring onion. Serve either hot or cold.

Serves about 8 but you could freeze the rest!

Another quick idea:

I cooked a lovely marrow, stuffed with quorn mince, onion, garlic and topped with cheese (healthy extra). Had it with brown rice and edamame and gravy (made with vecon) and the boys loved it! So did DH, surprisingly as it was Quorn , who had seconds! Very cheap and very easy dinner. I'm pleasantly surprised and will add it to our list of meal ideas to do again. Just thought I'd share this!

poppy90 · 21/08/2007 17:34

Mmm sweetcorn bisque sounds delicious, but it's not free on original, just green.
Sweetcorn (on the cob or not)is only free on green.

Smithy · 21/08/2007 19:00

Oops! Sorry for the mistake - luckily I do green

grinningbee · 21/08/2007 19:37

Hi all,

I'm still plodding along. I've lost another four and three quarter pounds in the last two weeks, so only another 87 to go!

Funny that another poster mentioned quorn. I've had the sausages a couple of times recently and I think they're lovely, especially cold sliced up in couscous for packed lunch.

I made the SW moussaka for DH and me for tea last week with quorn mince, and he couldn't tell the difference! I'm very impressed with it. I wish the supermarkets sold bigger bags of it. All I can find are the 300g packs.

Still, never mind!

I went over to visit my parents last night - I've lost nearly 22 pounds since I last saw them... I didn't mention I was on a diet, but they didn't even notice the weight loss!. Boo. Still, it won't stop me carrying on.

sparkler · 21/08/2007 22:21

grinningbee - well done that's a fantastic weight loss. for your parents didn't notice. It so motivating when people do.

Well I've completed two full days back on the plan. Really pleased with myself. And I've also been swimming tonight - first time I have swam properly in years. Usually go with kids and have to stay with them as they are too young so never get chance to swim at all. I was in the pool for 40 mins so am hoping that has helped in some way.

Going to friend's house tomorrow night for drinks and food so I'm not sure how I'm going to get round that one as yet. I have decided to stay off the alcohol - may have one small glass of something but then will stay on diet soft drinks rest of the time. Weigh in is on Thursday so don't want to mess it up after working so hard today and yesterday.

Agree with Quorn sausages being lovely too also like the quorn chicken style pieces. Just the quorn mince that I can't get to grips with at the moment.

Fireflyfairy2 · 21/08/2007 22:52

Hi everyone

Well done on all the losses

I'm not sure how I will have done this week as the weekend was difficult enough. We had a picnic on Sunday through the day as we had a family day out. I had no bread though, I was on a red week & I had chicken drumsticks, turkey, ham & salad stuff. Then we had a meal out in the evening. I had no starter & a huge steak. Though I did have chilli fries with a mayonnaise sauce

I had 2 spoonfuls of dh's dessert too.... oops it just jumped into my mouth I also had a few small bottles of wine.....

So weigh in tomorrow night!

andyrobo237 · 22/08/2007 19:14

Well I skipped class this week as I got my half stone last week and knew I had put on at least 1lb this week - I know they cant take it off you, but I didnt want to have it my book that I had put on weight IYKWIM! Hopefully this week I will lose 2lbs - got 12 weeks to lose as much as I can before going to my DH's long service awards ceremony in London - and need to get an outfit for it as well - will leave it as late as poss!

Does anyone know the password for this week? Cheers!

Fireflyfairy2 · 22/08/2007 20:23

P/W is chips

I had 1lb off this week so am happy

Only thing worrying me this week is I have two meals out. One tomorrow night at a chinese restraunt so I can have a green day & get boiled rive &veg chop suey or something. Saturday night is my dh's birthday & I have ordered him a cake as he's a big kid at heart.

I have had 2 red weeks & lost on them both. I think this week I'll try green again.

Any tips re: the weekend meal & the cake.......

sparkler · 23/08/2007 09:12

First weigh in tonight . Only been doing it since Monday so hoping to get a pound or two off.

mummymills · 23/08/2007 23:12

This weeks password is CHIPS. Very pleased i lost half a pound this week making it 7lbs in 4 weeks!! I have also discovered Skinny Cow Mint Choc Chip ice creams at 4.5 sins each, on offer at Tesco at the moment and M&S choc mousse 4.5 sins each, which take a long time to eat if you freeze them. Do you think you loose less if you have more green days then red ?

sparkler · 24/08/2007 09:16

One pound off for me last night. Not much but it's a start. Didn't start until Monday so that was a pound in four days. Not bad considering how much alcohol and food we ate at the weekend in London. Good week ahead this week.

WornOutMumOfThree · 24/08/2007 09:51

Hi All

I'm back after spectacularly falling off the Slimming World wagon around Easter. I had got my three stone award but have put two stone of it back on :0( I've been back on the plan since Tuesday and am now feeling very positive but could do with some new ideas for free meals on both green and original.

Fireflyfairy2 · 24/08/2007 10:21

Yay for Sparkler & mummyhill!!!

Hey, don't wory about the 2 stone gain.. you lost it before & you can do it again! It's easier doing something you know you've done before!

I have 2 meals out this week, last night we had a chinese meal with friends of mine & I had a green day. So I had chicken & sweetcorn soup for starters (I thought it would be better than mini spring rolls syn wise) Then I had boiled rice & sliced chilli chicken. The chicken can be a HEb but I have no idea how many syns are in the sauce. I had no dessert, but had a coffee & a mint

Tomorrow is dh's b'day so we are going out for that, but I am driving so I don't have to count syns for wine On the other hand I have promised the kids we will have a "party" for daddy tomorrow... so probably just sweets & crisps to please the kids as we're heading out!

I suck with cake tbh... I have ordered him a chocolate cake, with chocolate cream, with chocolate chips... get the picture???? He might be cross though, as he's lost a stone since July!

Fireflyfairy2 · 24/08/2007 10:23

I forgot to say too, that dh brought a black bin bag out of the attic, clothes that were too small for me after I has ds & I now have 4 more pairs of jeans that fit me Plus a lovely cropped pair from River Island that hasn't fitted me in about 3 years!!!! A RI size 14.....

sparkler · 24/08/2007 11:50

Hiyah FFF - well done you!. That must be such a wonderful feeling. I wonder if I'll get into 14's again. I so hope so. Got a long way to go though.

katylou25 · 24/08/2007 12:13

Well i somehow managed to put on 3 1/2 pounds really really dissapointed because I haven't been THAT Bad. Have got a really hard week cominh up as well - a wedding tomorrow then we're going to my mums sunday and having a naming ceremony for ds2 on monday and then it's his birthday on weds... lots of alchohol and cake me thinks!

katylou25 · 24/08/2007 12:14

Meant to add thats fab FFF - I've managed to get into a 16 - ideally would like to be a 12 so still got a bit of a way to go!

Fireflyfairy2 · 24/08/2007 12:51

Sometimes I thik if you drink gallons of water it helps you not have a weight gain. I know that sounds daft, but each & every time I have been out & have had a meal I drink about 2 jugs of water!

I just had 2 boiled eggs & some beans... The kids had beans on toast & I was drooling for the bread! It was sliced white with butter..the only thing the shop had left last night! It's so much easier having brown bread as it's the white stuff I crave. Especially with beans

Yes FFF nothing like a nice big wedge of freshly baked bread - that's one of things I really miss. Yum - I'm loving baked beans at the moment. Have you tried the Heinz Mean Beanz? I think they are realy nice. There's Mexican style, sweet chill, BBQ and another that I can't remember at the mo. They are free on green days. Just be careful as some Mean beanz have syns - thai and tikka I believe.
Hi Christie - yay! good to see there's lots of the old SW thread faces still around!!

Hello. I haven't posted on here for a while as had a hectic few weeks. I had an ok week this week and lost 1lb. I knew it wouldn't be a great weight loss as I'd been out for lunch. I'm fine when I'm cooking at home but the minute I go out anywhere then I just can't stick to the diet. I had a choice of salad or pepperoni pizza.....no contest!!!!

Someone mentioned Heinz Sweet Chilli Beans - we did a thing at our club where we went to a different country each week and people brought in food. One lady mixed a can of those beans with a can of ratatouille and served it with rice. It's really delicious and free on green days! I'd highly recommend it.

Fireflyfairy2 · 27/08/2007 13:46

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have fell off the wagon with a bump!!

Went out on Saturday night & was good food wise. Had a stir fry & boiled rice in the hotel but then had a bottle & half of rose wine

Also a huge slab of chocolate birthday cake.

Yesterday I had tpast for breakfast, then veg soup, then pizza for dinner... also some more choc cake.

Today I have had 2 boiled eggs, 2 slices of white bread & butter & a twix

I am on a roll today alright

I don't think I'll go to class this Wed night, but give myself a chance to get it off me again!
