Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

i am so sorry Fontella, i just read my comment back and realise i sound very judgy and critical...its been one of those days !
I meant, that yes i have this happen, and i deal with it by thinking 'oh goody i must be in calorie defeciet'
could you do something like that ..embrace your hunger...:)

Gilbert82 · 15/06/2018 19:35

Not a great week here, put on 0.5lbs Sad not the end of the world but still disappointing. Starting again tomorrow!

theredjellybean · 15/06/2018 20:42

Never mind, it's a blip.
I have just done my third run for the week. Sticker on sticker chart.. So pleased. It was the thought of being able to post on this thread that i had done it that made me get up and out.
Not sure I will have lost this week but still pleased with efforts.
Thank you everyone for support

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 16/06/2018 07:28

Weigh in today for me and I’ve somehow lost another 3lbs, so that’s 6lbs total. I can only think it’s the fact I’m breastfeeding, so weight is coming off more easily. Or just water weight as I stayed under ‘budget’ for calories yesterday after a bad day the day before. Don’t know. I’m pleased with it though.

I haven’t been that brilliant with the exercise. I still haven’t gone for my run Blush. That was clearly just talk. I do need to start though. I just haven’t done any running for a long time and even then it wasn’t my best sport. I’m also thinking of starting a martial arts class but not sure.

I have been doing some yoga in the evenings, so not all bad.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

@jellybean well done on the running! You’ll have that pedicure in no time Grin.

Sorry this week hasn’t gone to plan @gilbert.

@fontella I can’t remember ever having the night hunger! Maybe you’re eating too early in the evening or need a small snack before bed?

Gilbert82 · 16/06/2018 07:38

Well done rhubarb and jellybean!
Hope you all have a good weekend x

beforeihit30 · 16/06/2018 12:59

@Gilbert82 0.5lb could be a minor fluctuation so don’t worry, keep going, see if your overall trend is downwards Smile

Good stuff @jellybean and @Rhubarb!

I’m continuing downwards which is good, and for now have found a good point of where to balance how much to take in, not feeling hungry and not craving stuff, and also being much better with takeaway without feeling deprived of it. Down 6lb this month - thanks to this group for motivation and accountability!

theredjellybean · 17/06/2018 11:09

Weighed in today and another 2lbs off. Now 156lbs down from 161.2 lbs. Really pleased.
Hope everyone else is doing OK too

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 17/06/2018 11:29

Well done @jellybean! All that running is definitely paying off then Smile.

A weird day for food yesterday, as I was ridiculously busy.

I had fruit for breakfast, then wild rice salad with chicken for lunch. So all pretty good, and then... three massive bits of white bread and loads of butter in front of Pointless Celebrities Blush. I was ravenous and hadn’t stopped running round all day with dcs, so just shoved the nearest food into my face as quickly as I could. Not great, but still under budget for calories. Then I did some cleaning to atone Grin.

Today we’re celebrating Father’s Day here, so we had smoked salmon, creme fraiche and brown bread toast this morning, (I just had a small bit of it all). I’m just making a deliciously Ella recipe for ‘cleansing soup’ to have for lunch, which I’ll have with some fruit and maybe a nakd bar. Then I’ve got some fillet steak with green vegetables this evening. My dad’s coming to stay with us for the evening as he’s working in London tomorrow. He’s always low carbing, so that will suit him too. DH will have chips and they can both have pepper sauce. Feel I’ve got a good plan today and not too many calories. I still am having no alcohol till my holiday. Loads of green tea today instead.

Will also try and squeeze in some yoga today if I can.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

beforeihit30 · 17/06/2018 22:52

Great @jellybean! And sounds good @Rhubarb Smile

Times changed quickly - having worst TOM in a very long time and the chocolate buttons look really good Grin I’m upping the ante on all of the meds and won’t be able to go into the office tomorrow. It’s quite unusual for me!

But, overall still doing well and keeping it sensible so that’s good. Appetite is reducing naturally so pleased with that too as it makes everything feel ‘natural’.

halfwitpicker · 18/06/2018 02:38

Sounds like everyone is doing really well.

This weekend had been OK, had leftover Spag bol and a stuffed pita on Saturday for lunch which was a bit carby really but not too bad. Then t-bone steaks, grilled asparagus and boiled potatoes for dinner. Made a massive batch of strawberry rhubarb compote which DH loves, so had some with yog for breakfast.

Not done any formal exercise this weekend I. E cycling, but have been running around like a nutter with the kids, parks etc so have not sat down much.

Shorts that were slightly tight last week now feel normal. So it seems it be working!

Just boiled up a loads of hard boiled eggs for snacks, I find they're good when I'm hungry. That and carrots and cucumber!

Fontella · 18/06/2018 17:29

Had a big family celebration Saturday night, buffet, loads of booze etc.

I never touched a drop of alcohol - drank mineral water all night - and I never had a morsel of food off the buffet. I loaded up a plate for the other half at one point, but never had a scrap myself.

We went out yesterday and I caught sight of myself in a full length mirror and I looked fab! Then I realised it was a 'skinny mirror'. A little later other half was trying on some trousers in a shop in town and I got a more accurate picture of myself in the full length mirrors there.

I have definitely lost weight, jeans are loose and baggy - but I am still top heavy - big boobs and upper arms - and I still have a way to go.

But I'm not downhearted. I have shown I can lose weight and I plan to keep on trying (nor the week we are on holiday though - then I will eat and drink what I fancy when I fancy) but when we get back I am going to carry on with what I've been doing, because it's working!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 18/06/2018 18:25

Oh well done @fontella. That was very restrained indeed! Buffets are my downfall. I’ve got a couple of very flattering mirrors in my house. Bloody love them Grin! Maybe the second mirror you saw was act an unflattering one and mirror #1 was just normal. It definitely sounds like you’re slimming down.

So, everything went to plan for me yesterday, except that I had half a glass of red Wine with my dad.

Busy again this morning, so I ended up not eating anything till about 11.30, when I went a bit mad on the leftover smoked salmon, bread etc from yesterday. All very healthy, plant based stuff since then, like fruit, nakd bar (ok - that’s not super healthy, but alright), green soup, hummus and veg. But I think I’ve had a little bit too much of it. So, I’m finishing on just under 1800 calories today. Not great, as I’m aiming for 1500, but it could be a lot worse 🤷‍♀️.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 18/06/2018 18:26

Also, I’m on holiday soon too and will be doing less dieting, but planning on overeating either.

theredjellybean · 18/06/2018 21:38

I had a blow out Sunday night, but it was just too much food rather than poor quality food. My dB cooked sirloin of beef with lots of really amazing salads. I also maybe drank a bottle of champagne too... Today has been good tuna salad at 3pm, fish and veg curry and rice at 8:30pm small portion and burnt 530 calories running this morning.

Fontella · 18/06/2018 23:58

Well I haven't eaten much today not because of willpower but because we have bugger all in the house!

Dinner was a bowl of cornflakes and milk, but I am so busy with work (self employed) and rushing to get everything finished before I go on holiday, I literally haven't had a chance to go shopping.

I got a massive sweet craving this afternoon (very rare indeed) but satisfied it by sticking a spoonful of sugar in a cup of milky tea. I rarely drink normal tea (prefer peppermint or green tea just water and a teabag), but the sweet craving was so strong I had to have something, and a cup of sweet milky tea did the trick.

On what I've eaten today I am well under any calorie count - if I was counting calories that is.

So a good day, but for all the wrong reasons!

Grin
halfwitpicker · 19/06/2018 00:15

Opened a bottle of wine tonight as just fancied a glass. Haven't really had a drink since last weekend, it tasted great.

Not a bad day food wise, had left-over broccoli salad and tuna for lunch which was surprisingly filling, but had fajitas with cheese for dinner (x 2).

Not had any choc / cake etc for ages, apart from the two cookies I had last week.

Got some new skinny jeans from Gap at the weekend, a size 10, and they fit well, so feel really positive and like this whole dieting thing is actually worth it!

halfwitpicker · 19/06/2018 00:16

You sound a bit like me, fontella, if I crave sugar in the PM I have a coffee and it's satisfying I find.

Fontella · 19/06/2018 10:03

Well it's going to be another 'lean' day - because I'm not going to get a chance to get out and do any shopping. Luckily I'm the only one in the house at the moment as everyone else is away, so if the fridge and cupboards are empty it doesn't really matter.

I've got apples, there's some cheese and loads of salad stuff and some veggie ham (I'm a veggie), so I can certainly cobble up a lunch out of that. There's also stuff in the freezer but it's all things like Fish, Chicken Kievs and frozen portions of Spag Bol - none of which I would eat anyway.

But I'm sure I. won't starve.

Stood in front of the mirror this morning and breathed in and I looked properly slim for a moment, but then I let my breath out hahaha!

Just had a coffee and one slice of toast and marmite for breakfast and that will do..

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 19/06/2018 10:50

Haha yes @fontella, I look so much better if I stand up straight! Yoga is meant to be good for posture. I need to do more of it.

I was trying on dresses yesterday, for a wedding I’m going to this weekend. I think I actually look pretty ok. Just wearing an old-ish dress I bought years ago in the states. It is a nice one though and I’m pleased I can fit in it. Wasn’t sure I would after dc2. Not that anyone will especially care what I look like of course. My dd is a bridesmaid, (dc1 I mean, not the baby), and I might end up in the odd group photo, so I’m putting in a little bit more effort. I’ve even bought some new make up - I never wear it, so that’s a bit of an event for me Grin.

Holiday starts after the wedding. I’m so excited, but not terribly excited about wearing a swimsuit. I’ve lost weight since I had the baby, (at the end of January), so I’m a healthy weight etc, but I still have a not-so-gorgeous post-cs tum, which I’m not looking forward to unveiling... oh well. Could be worse.

Bathsheba3 · 19/06/2018 15:01

Well done everyone! I'm not v active on the thread, but still here trying to loose weight. Another 1.5 lbs gone. Hurray. Keeping v busy and still no sweet snacks this month. Felt bad saying no to b'day cake the other day, but I know one bite slice always leads to another. I've re-introduced alcohol, on the basis that a work project is gearing-up and I need a quick wind-down. The adrenaline surely helps calorie burn?

TheLastNigel · 20/06/2018 18:56

Well done to all the losers!
I've lost the sum total
Of two pounds.
Still at least in the right direction and I've had had two good days this week.
Been to the dr this morning and got a script for Melatonin which will hopefully help me sleep but in a less zombie way than full on sleeping tablets. Fingers crossed! I really think I'll crave sugar less if I'm not half dead with tiredness!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 20/06/2018 20:07

Still good @nigel! Slow and steady etc etc. I think mine’s all water anyway.

So, I haven’t been doing very well the past few days tbh. It’s been pretty bad actually... Blush.

So far, I am still the same weight as I was at last weigh in, but I don’t think I deserve to be! I’m off on holiday on Friday. I’m planning on sticking to a ‘No S Diet’ type thing while I’m away and also having fewer carbs. Especially the “bad”, refined kind. When I get back I’ll get back to being a little stricter.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 22/06/2018 07:23

Morning all!

I’m off on holiday today, so I’m weighing in now, instead of Saturday. I’ve gained a lb Blush. I’m actually fine with that, as it hasn’t been a good week for diet.

So, I’m now down 5lbs overall.

I’m going to aim to stay about the same on holiday, as losing weight seems unlikely.

Hope everyone else is doing better than I am this week!

Gilbert82 · 22/06/2018 07:27

How’s everyone doing?
2lbs off for me this week Smile I only have 2.5lbs to go until I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight which feels achievable by the end of the month! I managed an exercise class this week and have been making sure to get out for walks to keep my steps up!
Hope you’re all having a good week!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 22/06/2018 07:41
