Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

i have lost 2.4 lbs since sunday...hurrah.
This was just through tightening up on my calories and being more mindful of waiting until very hungry to eat and also a lot less wine ( :(

very pleased indeed

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 09/06/2018 10:14

Wow some great losses! Keep it up Smile

Thanks father! That must be difficult jellybean. I used to regularly swim 8km+ a week but I injured my shoulder last year so have been relegated to swimming very little so I know how you feel with that. It's so frustrating.

So impressed with you doing bootcamp Nigel! I don't think I'd have the willpower to be pushed that much and keep going.

theredjellybean · 09/06/2018 10:25

it is difficult..mainly because if someone tells you not to do too much, for me that is licence to do very little, it is a ready made excuse..i love running..once i have run ! but struggle so much to make myself get up and do it.
I am determined next week to do three runs....i keep making plans to do 15km a week , then add a km each week...but every week i fail to stick to it :(
anyone got any ideas for motivation....my dd suggested a sticker chart..i am seriously considering it

FatherMackenzie · 09/06/2018 11:52

Aw I love that she suggested a sticker chart @jelly.

Not a bad idea. Maybe when you get to your goal, whatever it is, you can buy yourself a treat.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 09/06/2018 19:30

I think a sticker chart is a great idea! Or maybe put aside like £1/2 every time you run and buy yourself something nice at the end of the month?

I've spent all day revising, DP is out at a beer festival, and I've just sat down with a glass of wine and have ordered a curry. No regrets!

theredjellybean · 09/06/2018 21:59

My dd said same.. Do a sticker chart and when you have done four weeks of three times week running have a treat you would not normally have.. She suggested a pedicure.. It always seems a luxury to me and I rarely treat myself.
Now I think about it, its. A good idea.
And we'll done on the revision fading, enjoy your curry, but remember eat until full, don't feel guilty, enjoy every mouthful.

beforeihit30 · 09/06/2018 22:14

I hope everyone is feeling good/better, but also fab news on the losses! And also for all the ‘sticking it out’ during rubbish moments Flowers

I think I found a better approach for me (at least this week!). Still calorie counting etc but sticking to 1500 per day during the week, and allowing myself a little bit more on the weekend (e.g. 2000). I aim to do a minimum of 10k steps daily, but usually go higher during the week (anywhere between 13k and 17k). Previously I was guided by my burned calories less 500 but because I’m much more active during the week it just all got a bit weird.

So I’ve been sticking to it, and I’ve lost 5lb since last week Shock some of it may be through water or something, but I was stuck on that weight for a while so a breakthrough is very welcome.

I have goals for each 10lb shifted, based on approx 1 pound lost per week, in terms of the date I would expect to reach that by - my next goal date is early July and from today’s weight I am 3.5lb away, so I feel much closer to my goal which is great. I know my weight will fluctuate but I use Trendweight to track the overall trend.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 10/06/2018 09:00

@beforeihit30

That’s a brilliant result StarStarStar! You’re nearly at the ‘half stone off’ goal already EnvyWink.

Bathsheba3 · 10/06/2018 09:18

Amazing losses everyone! Keep going! I'm 1.5 lbs down since last sunday, but I feel my body has shrunk more than that, as I'm exercising a lot more, and not eating-back my exercise calories. I do a boxing boot camp twice a week, and either a run or bike ride x 2 as well. Was at a wedding this weekend and felt really comfortable in my dress, such a better fit than it would have been 2 weeks ago even with the spanx

Keep up the good work everyone!

theredjellybean · 10/06/2018 11:19

Brilliant.. Well done.

MuddyForestWalks · 10/06/2018 14:15

Some fantastic results! I am very impressed :)

Today I have bad period pains and feel a bit too sick to eat, but I have had tea and some Mexican bean chilli soup.

@RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb Grin

This group has been a good motivation, I think one of the biggest changes is less takeaway too Blush but we don’t feel like we’ve been denied nice food (our main hobby...!) and we had breakfast out and lunch out this week (one time of both, that’s DH and I together) so we’re still indulging but it’s been a good reminder to consider the choices I make and account for them properly.

@Bathsheba3 that’s great, I think the ‘feel’ is much better or more important than the scale weight too, even if the scale is a guide,

Devilishpyjamas · 11/06/2018 07:40

First 6 days on the Jane plan I’ve lost 5lbs (have stated period so may have been a bit bloated beforehand). I did the meals filling but my stomach is missing it’s snacks.

2 days off now as i’m Off to the other side of the country until Wed evening. Will try not to go mad

Thisimmortalcurl · 11/06/2018 08:10

Well just finished me three days off work , pretty much a fail and got my period yesterday. Dunno why I weighed this morning .. to torture myself ? I always have massive water gain anyway that goes after a few days . Going to hide the scales till Friday and stuck to my plan until then hopefully.

TheLastNigel · 11/06/2018 15:30

I went to boot camp. I am now unable to walk as so bloody stiff. I wish I was one of those people that like exercising. I HATE it.

ifonly4 · 11/06/2018 18:46

Last week I had a few days of being a bit more careful, cutting back on biscuits, avoiding alcohol, that just about went out of the window over the weekend and I feel even fatter than before, and really need to get totally focused again. Tea is salad, quiche and prosecco (DH has been away for a few days so sort of having our Saturday night) but I'm going to skip the the icecream I'd planned to go with homemade fruit salad.

Get me motivated again please. I'm certainly not up for boot camp though. The odd exercise class, long walk and bike ride are my limit. Need to aim one of these a day, don't I?!

theredjellybean · 11/06/2018 20:32

@ifonly4

i am trying to motivate to do three runs a week as currently manage two .
i have a sticker chart..started as a joke by my dd but now its up on the fridge..4 weeks , need three stickers per week for treat at the end.

i had brilliant weight loss last week, had a bit of a blow out on sunday ...3/4 bottle of wine, lots of crips ( kettles) , cake .
acording to scales gained it all back, but trying to remember not to take daily readings as gospel...its soul destroying..trying to think its just a blip.

so today had an apple and a small chicken salad for lunch ,then fish and broccoli and sweetcorn for supper.
now feel hungry still but trying to ignore it

its a run day tomorrow. already panicking as got to get up at 5 am to catch flight to london, do meetings and catch flight home. will be back at 7:30 pm...when am i going to run...aghhhhh......but its just an excuse really, as can take run kit to london and go at lunchtime.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 11/06/2018 20:32

Well done @nigel! I bet it’s a nice kind of pain, as you know you’ve had a good work out... or maybe not!

@ifonly, yes, I was great on Saturday and feeling rather smug as we were entertaining, but I still managed not to overdo anything. But Sunday evening and today haven’t been great. I’m back on it though.

I’m wearing some jeans I bought a few weeks ago and they are decidedly loose, so I definitely think I’m losing weight.

I’m not going to have any alcohol at all between now and my holiday at the end of the month and I’m also going to try not having milk in my tea. I’ve been logging my calories and my milky, sugary teas, (tea lattes more like Blush), soon add up. I like one sugar in my tea, but I can do without the milk.

TheLastNigel · 12/06/2018 10:40

It's not. I can barely move this morning. Plus I've failed already today as my lovely dp bought me up an almond croissant for breakfast and I made the mistake of having a sandwich in my bag for lunch-which I've obviously just devoured because no will power and if I know it's there I'll bloody eat it. So cross with myself.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 12/06/2018 10:51

Ah don’t be cross @Nigel! Just move on from it. Maybe put your calories into mfp or something. You might find it’s not as bad as you think and you can level it out by having something light for dinner. I’m trying to do the same when I fall off the wagon as it prevents me from pressing the fuck it button when I see I actually do have a decent number of calories left before it’s a total splurge.

Sorry you’re in pain after bootcamp. It’s tough! Did they make you do burpees ? Not over the time they played Roxanne by the police and I had to run laps then do a burpee every time they sang Roxanne. Have you any idea how many times they say Roxanne in that bloody song? Bloody bootcamp Wink.

ifonly4 · 12/06/2018 11:08

theredjellybean, that's a good idea, not sure I'll do stickers but making a note of what I've done every day. I've done an exercise class this morning, will spend approx 30 mins walking today and today is more physical at work, so at least I've done something today. Hope you enjoyed your sinful day on Sunday even if you've paid for it now!

rhubarb, sounds like you're doing well.

@Nigel, hope you have a better day today.

Cereal and nectarine for breakfast, egg salad for lunch. Half of last night's quiche is left, so might warm is through and have a few cooked carrots, peas with it today. Also, have some fresh pineapple for weak moments.

TheLastNigel · 12/06/2018 11:16

So many burpees.so so many.
And the bloody roxeanne routine. Personal trainers are clearly taught that it's cute. It is NOT!
I've got chicken pad Thai for dinner. (Made by me out of creepy Annabelle Karmel's feed your baby and toddler book-even though my Babies and toddlers are now 11 and 12-I still get most of my recipes from thereGrin) so that's not too bad.
It's what happens between then and now that could go either way, as it's only 11.15 and I'm still starving despite croissant and sandwich. What is the matter with me??
I manage a few care homes and we are having morning tea this morning in one. There is cake Sad.

theredjellybean · 12/06/2018 11:28

Nigel... I am bloody starving today.. Had to have piece of toast, butter and marmite at 5am as was woken with hunger pains.
Supposed to be waiting for supper at 7:30... But fantasising about food....

Fontella · 12/06/2018 12:06

Hi all,

Haven't posted for a few days but I am still plodding away being very good and virtuous until I go away on holiday at the end of the month.

I'm not dieting, excluding any particular foods or weighing myself, but I can tell through clothing and looking in the mirror that I am steadily losing weight.

My current and much beloved pair of crop jeans are at the point of actually falling down - I have been able to put them on without undoing button or zip for weeks and once on, my arse has held them up. But now even the arse isn't doing the job very well and I look like one of those skater dudes with the crutch hanging down somewhere near my knees and my bum hanging out. it is only a matter of time before they fall down around my ankles, but as I work from home and see no-one during the day ... there will only be me there to see it.

Grin

I'm finding the longer I do this, just cannot eat the same amounts I used to. I don't seem to be able to stuff my face the way I once did. Where two slices of toast were required before, one will suffice and so on. Long may it continue.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 12/06/2018 12:08

I've not had a great few days (I am very bad for stress-eating) but am back on it today.

Need to go shopping later as we have very little in so need to do a food plan for the rest of the week.
