Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

Well the weekend away qa a a lot of fun and from a food perspective not too crazy. We went in a French restaurant for lunch on Saturday (French meaning a steak served with only two potatoes Confused) which was fab but not too filling. Me and DH shared dessert which was only tiny too. Dinner was good but a bit much - soup, smoked salmon then duck risotto but the food was so so rich I didn't eat much of it!
Had a few glasses of wine but did lots of walking.

How's everyone else doing?

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 12/06/2018 13:52

Oh that sounds lovely @halfwit! I’d have snarfed the lot! You did well not to overdo it.

So, I had a small, but full fat, tuna mayo sandwich and a bag of crisps for lunch, plus far too much potato bread for breakfast this morning Blush. I followed my own advice though and totted up the calories instead of pushing the fuck it button. If I stick to water, plus one black tea with sugar, till this evening, I can have some homemade veg soup with a wee dab of creme fraiche and a boiled egg for my evening meal and still will be under budget for calories today Halo.

I would love to lose half a stone this month. I've lost 2lbs so far so would need to lose 5lbs in two and a half weeks.

I'm going to try sticking to porridge or yoghurt with fruit for breakfast; vegetable soup for lunch; a small portion of dinner with half a plate of veg/salad and then a Mars ice cream (140 calories!) because if I have a little treat each day then I stick to plan better!

ifonly4 · 13/06/2018 10:59

TheLastNigel, how did the rest of yesterday go?

Fontella, you sound like you're doing so well.

I wasn't doing too bad yesterday, then totally failed and had a tia maria and chocolates from my birthday.

Back on it again, although, I do owe a friend a drink at pub after work, so that's happening today or tomorrow. I find fizzy drinks too gassy and orange juice and wine contain calories, so I may as well have a small one of the latter(smile)

Fontella · 13/06/2018 14:38

Well I'm sitting here in a pair of jeans I haven't previously been able to get on without major contortions (optimistically purchased online) and then too uncomfortable to wear for any length of time, so they have been languishing in the drawer unworn.

They are a little tight still, but the plan is to wear them around the house before I go on hols to hopefully stretch them a little bit.

They are the trendy ones, with the frills around the bottom (ooh get me!) and were purchased especially for Summer/forthcoming hols - so I really do want to be able to wear them when we go away the end of next week.

So I'm sat here in said jeans being all virtuous and eating my first meal of the day - a salad comprising a handful of rocket, a handful of mixed nuts, a small cube of cheese diced up, a diced apple, some chopped cherry tomatoes, some chopped green olives and diced cucumber. Dressing is apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar mixed with a little sweet chilli sauce.

Just call me Saint Fontella!

Well I was in bed watching love island at 9.30 eating a large bag of dorito's. So not well Grin in fairness I had just spent two hours at a committee meeting for something I volunteer for and for which my exh is also on the committee and I felt I deserved something nice after that!

I like those frilly jeans!

I've been a bit better today. 2 eggs for breakfast, chicken sandwich and an apple for lunch, grilled salmon and salad for dinner.
Starving and miserable though. Really want some chocolate.

Will try to go for a walk later. But I've got so much housework to do that it's quite hard to find the bloody time!!

I've got a wedding to go to in two weeks and nowt to wear. Don't even want to go shopping as I know everything I like will look rubbish. It's my own fault and I'm very cross with myself!

TheLastNigel · 13/06/2018 16:03

Well done Fontella and all those that are doing so well!!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 13/06/2018 16:19

Yikes @nigel. You earned those Doritos! Bootcamp and committee meeting with ex.

All ok here today. Just tea and a satsuma for breakfast. A rather large sandwich for lunch (all added to mfp) and some more fruit. Lots of tea and coffee. I have no idea what I’m going to have this evening. DH has leftovers from something he made last night, so I might just have soup or maybe eggs on toast or something. Just about to go for a walk to the park with dcs. Or I’m supposed to be, though I’m currently doing passive resistance battle with dd to get her to let me comb her hair first, so we may not ever make it out at this rate. The baby is grumpy too. Oh the joys.

halfwitpicker · 13/06/2018 17:01

Bet you're rocking the party in those jeans, fontella! Bet they are flattering, and they could be dressed up or down.

Going OK here today, manged to avoid bread for breakfast - I feel fuller off 2 eggs and fruit and yog than I do off an English muffin and peanut butter and two eggs! Madness.

Lunch will be potato and tuna salad as back in the office. Was downtown yesterday and we got lunch provided which included 2 gorgeous cookies which I ate and enjoyed Grin Had chicken salad for dinner though.

Saw SIL and BIL at weekend and they commented that i'd lost weight so at least other folks are noticing too.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 13/06/2018 17:11

Yes, love the jeans @fontella! Well done for getting into them.

Fontella · 13/06/2018 18:02

I've got a wedding to go to in two weeks and nowt to wear

Just go for something floaty and baggy. Will be lovely and cool in the hot weather and hides a multitude of sins.

I'm rather partial to a bit of lagenlook meself!

Ooh nice jeans @Fontella!

Good day today. Just got back from a 5km (mostly) run - felt better than last time which is good!

Exam tomorrow though 😬 I'll not be eating in the morning as I'm always too nervous but will probably be on the G&Ts from about 1:30pm. Also booked a celebratory/post-exam meal for tomorrow evening. Hoping the lack of food in the morning will mean I don't go too over my maintenance calories...

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 14/06/2018 10:11

@fading you’ve inspired me to go for a jog / walk tonight if I have time, (I should make time of course, but it’s tricky).

All fine here so far today. I’ve just had a couple of teas (one black, one white) and some fruit for breakfast. Planning to just have some eggs with avocado and tomatoes for lunch. I’m doing a lentil stew thing with chicken this evening. It’s got bacon and (full fat) creme fraiche in it, so not exactly healthy, but I’ll stick to a small portion.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 14/06/2018 10:11

And good luck with the exam today @fading! StarFlowers

WhenDoISleep · 14/06/2018 17:10

I'm still going, lurking quietly. Last week was a bit of a write off as DH was off on holiday which means more snacks in the house plus we went out on a couple of days. I did however lose the weight I gained on holiday and I went to bootcamp 4 times (the early morning 6.45am sessions as well Shock).

This week I'm back tracking everything in MFP and have been to bootcamp twice, and intend going tomorrow and Saturday as well.

Looking back at MFP, I've plateaued since the beginning of May, hopefully this week will be a kick start to start losing again.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 14/06/2018 18:33

Bit of a write off today tbh. I’ve had a ratty baby this evening and an equally ratty preschooler. Back on it tomorrow. Just want to go to bed now!

Fontella · 14/06/2018 18:59

I had one slice of marmite toast and coffee for breakfast, Some veggie ham, crispbreads and salad for lunch, an apple mid afternoon and for dinner I've just had some boiled Jersey potatoes, a Tesco vegetarian Cauliflower Cheese grill and some sweetcorn.

That's me for today - just peppermint and green teas for the rest of the evening. so not a bad day at all.

TheLastNigel · 14/06/2018 20:13

Absolute rubbish day today foodwise. But i did at least do my 10 000 Steps.
Hope the exam went well.

theredjellybean · 14/06/2018 20:20

Had been so good beginning of the week.. Even did my second run after flying back to Cornwall on Tues evening. Then been away at work team thing for two days and it's gone badly wrong. Why do dull team bonding days always make me feel hungry.
Yesterday ate one and half large cookies, sandwiches and crisps at lunch, best part of a bottle of wine and pizza and garlic bread at dinner. Then a Danish pastries, four bourbon biscuits, more sandwiches and now just eaten dominoes pizza with youngest daughter.
Hummm.... But weigh in day is Sunday for me so time to turn it around.
I had lost 2.4lbs first week so as long as not gone up come Sunday I will be pleased.
Run planned for tomorrow, so will get three runs in, which is positive for this week

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 14/06/2018 21:04

Thanks for the luck @Rhubarb and @TheLastNigel!

Hope you managed to get out for your run tomorrow rhubarb.

Well done on the bootcamp @WhenDoISleep!

I think the exam went ok. Have eaten probably about 2000 calories today but have walked 8km with a really fuck-off heavy bag of books so hoping that has offset some of it. I'm shattered now just want to sleep!

beforeihit30 · 14/06/2018 22:14

It half way (ish) mark for the month...!

Fontella (think name is correct, I can’t seem to scroll back!) sounds like you’re doing really well Smile

Still managing to keep going and appetite is shrinking which is good and making things more naturally better for me which is good.

Fontella · 15/06/2018 09:09

Night hunger - anyone else?

Woke up in the early hours absolutely starving. If I hadn't been so exhausted, I would have got up and made a snack, but I was knackered and fell back to sleep.

Just sitting here eating a slice of toast and drinking a coffee ... and I remembered.

Does it mean you're not eating enough in the day or something ... or is it nothing to do with that. I haven't had it before, so am just wondering?

Bathsheba3 · 15/06/2018 17:33

can't help on the night hunger I'm afraid. Looking back at your menu for yesterday, any way you could up the protein Fontella? Tends to fill you up more than carbs. I guess you are veggie. Do you eat eggs? A veggie sausage? But I'm no expert, just hazarding a guess. Or how about a handful of nuts?

Well done on finishing the exam fading.

I've spent a few days away staying with a friend, so hard to control food when I'm being fed. I did OK, plenty of exercise too (5k run, 40-length swim). Scales have stalled, but clothes are still fitting better, if not getting loose. Would love the scales to drop though!

I'm going to a party this eve. Will do my best to keep away from the food table & the prosecco refills.

theredjellybean · 15/06/2018 17:38

@fontella... Why is it an issue?
You went back to sleep, you clearly didn't wake up even more hungry Cus you only remembered once up and eating toast. Implying you didn't wake up so hungry you raced straight to fridge.
I often have those hunger night pangs.. I like it... Means I must have had a calories defeceit the day before.
You didn't need a snack you went back to sleep OK.
So think of it as positive thing

Fontella · 15/06/2018 18:12

Not an issue just unusual as I don’t normally wake up hungry in the middle of the night. Just wondered if anyone has experienced similar and whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing.
