Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

Ok, I have gone a bit off piste today, due to DS falling asleep in the car at lunchtime and me and DD being ravenous and succumbing to the McD drive through Blush but I will swap the planned dinner for 2 scrambled eggs, some smoked salmon and a big handful of spinach, and the day will still come in on calorie target.

I'll join please.

Going on holiday early August and I'll be standing next to my SIL's who are both size 6/8 so it's not even funny how chunky I look. I think half a stone off will get rid of the annoying wobble. Plan to spend all week on the beach so want to look OK in a bikini.

I'm on antibiotics atm so no alcohol anyway, but I don't find it hard not to drink.
Need to cut the carbs I. E. One carb meal per day, dinner will be bbq meat and big salad, soup for starters if I'm starved. Eggs and yog / fruit for breakfast. Dull but effective! Lunch will be soup /salad whatever is in the fridge.

I find it massively helpful to just eat more protein and more veg - but sometimes have boiled potatoes with bbq meat and salad which helps fill me.

halfwitpicker · 30/05/2018 13:15

2 scrambled eggs, some smoked salmon and a big handful of spinach

^

That'll be really filling and yum too.

sola82 · 30/05/2018 15:20

I'm in! I really want to lose the baby weight and get back to a healthy size. I had gestational diabetes so I already have an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. The plan is to eat between 1500-1800 calories/day. I don't want to drop too low because currently breastfeeding DS2 almost hourly!

I lost a lot of weight after DS1 doing the 5:2 diet, but one day I passed out due to low blood sugar and I would be wary now of following this again.

sola82 · 30/05/2018 15:22

Planning to cut down on sugar/carbs too. If I could do it when I was pregnant should be able to do it now!

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 30/05/2018 16:43

@MuddyForestWalks I agree with halfwit that sounds v tasty!

I've had a shitty day at work so am going to have to massively resist the urge to drown myself in wine tonight. Work is a big trigger point for emotional eating for me so tonight might be a struggle Sad

Welcome to all else joining!

MuddyForestWalks · 30/05/2018 18:16

Ok. I have had my dinner. About 1900 cal for the day, 200 under tdee, and tomorrow will be an 800cal fast day, so I'm pleased with that.

The eggs and salmon were lovely. I added some asparagus in as well as the spinach. Yum.

To everyone who has had a false start - it isn't June yet :) draw a line under it and start again.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood I know how tempting wine is after a shitty day but you know you will feel bloated and sluggish tomorrow. Can you treat yourself in and different way?

Can I join too please?!!!
I'm just desperate to shift the pounds.
Started at the end of April and lost a bit (not quite a stone) so hoping half a stone is doable in June.
Started exercising yesterday too... urghhhh I hate it!
But I'm determined! I batch cooked a whole bunch of meals over the weekend in an effort not to cave over the next few weeks!

We can do this!

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 30/05/2018 20:00

Thanks Muddy! I've had my planned dinner and poured myself one glass of wine which I'm savouring. Not going to let emotions get the better of me today Smile

Welcome Raven. What exercise are you doing? I used to think I hated exercise (and I still do hate running even though I keep doing it) but I found that I really enjoy swimming and Pilates - could you try something new/different that might make you enjoy it more?

Blueemeraldagain · 30/05/2018 20:25

I’d like to join. Got a holiday abroad with Australian DP’s entire family at the end of July and a stone or two off would really make a difference!

I’m intrigued by the 5:2 diet, does anyone have a particular book they recommend? I’d be looking for suggested meal plans mostly...

halfwitpicker · 30/05/2018 20:45

Dunno about a book blueemerald but there's an ongoing 5:2 thread on here dedicated to it. Loads of info.

halfwitpicker · 30/05/2018 20:48

Well today has not been too bad for me : eggs and yog and fruit compote for brekkie, crackers and almond butter for a snack, then veggie quiche (bad but it needed eating up) and two apples for lunch. Handful of almonds. Lots of water and a large coffee.

Dinner (live abroad, not eaten yet) will be mac and cheese for the kids and maybe a small portion for me with a salad and soup, or just soup and salad.

As you said, it's not yet June!

Sarahmill · 30/05/2018 21:01

Blue there is a recipe three on the 5:2 section. Lots of recipes for fast days

So it’s my DD birthday today and the birthday cake is seriously tempting me

Blueemeraldagain · 30/05/2018 22:05

Thanks, halfwitpicker and Sarahmill. Shall do some research, make a shopping list and get started!

Jonbb · 30/05/2018 22:27

Half a stone down but a bit stuck.

Sienna9522 · 30/05/2018 22:30

I’ve lost 2 stone since the beginning of March but seemed to have plateaued in the last couple of weeks. I’m going on holiday at the end of June so I would love to lose another half a stone. So far I’ve cut out a fair few carbs and fruit. I only eat sweet potato, brown rice, granola and brown rice in the way of carbs and not every day. Today was B: Peanut delight Nakd bar L: turkey and boiled egg salad and T: Lean mince with onions and mushrooms in a chunky veg sauce and veg as a replacement for pasta. Tomorrow I will have B: small bowl of granola without milk (I can’t eat cereal with milk) L: tuna and boiled egg salad and T: 2x sweet chilli salmon fillets with veg.

I make sure I drink 2-3 litres of water a day and have 4 or 5 cups of green tea. I’ve started walking the 3 mile home from work 3 or 4 times week and I’ve bought an exercise bike for the evening, although I’ve been seriously slacking with the bike for the past week. I also had a really, really bad weekend. I feel motivated to get back on it now! 💪🏻

Sienna9522 · 30/05/2018 22:31

I’ve also found it easier to stick to by being organised, planning my meals for the week and preparing meals the evening before work so I’m not tempted to buy something crap from the local supermarket while at work.

Fontella · 30/05/2018 22:31

I'm definitely in.

Already started on a quest to lose half a stone before my holiday on June 23rd when I will probably put it all back on again!

But that's the point really. When I go away I want to have a drink, an ice cream, whatever I fancy without having to worry.

So I'm being very good for the weeks leading up to it.

I've been really good today - salad and fruit basically - and have also done 40 minutes aerobics and another 40 minutes yoga. My daughter ordered a Chinese and sat and stuffed her face, and I never had so much as a chip!

Sitting here drinking peppermint tea and will have a green tea before bed and that's it for today.

MuddyForestWalks · 31/05/2018 07:19

Good morning and good luck for the day ahead everyone :)

Today I shall be eating:
Lunch - lentil and bacon soup (360) mixed berries (40)

Dinner - baked tofu (140) steamed veg (60) with a splash of sesame oil and sweet chilli sauce (100ish)

Lots of tea (100)

Taking me to a nice round 800 for the day.

Will be dragging a buggy and a preschooler round a NT place so that will have to be my exercise for the day.

Can I join? I lost half a stone doing Chloe Madeley's four week body blitz in May. I am 40 later this year and would like to make a dent in those final few pounds in June.

I plan to keep some of the low carb diet ideas from the body blitz, continue my twice weekly Body Pump classes and get some extra exercise in there too.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 31/05/2018 09:29

Morning everyone!

It's my birthday today Cake and I'm off work so not going to be worrying about calories today. DFiance is taking me for bottomless sushi and prosecco for lunch which I am massively looking forward to Grin

I did, however, get a Fitbit for my birthday so that's going to help me track steps and calories more accurately!

Fontella · 31/05/2018 10:23

Morning all - breakfast was a large coffee, plus a small bowl of porridge with mixed berries, a handful of mixed nuts and two dollops of natural yoghurt.

I feel absolutely stuffed!!

I also swept the kitchen floor and danced around to some music while I was preparing it.

I'm not weighing myself or doing MFP or any of that. Just watching what I eat and drink, moving around a bit more, and posting here.

sola82 · 31/05/2018 10:24

Happy Birthday!Cake

Sarahmill · 31/05/2018 10:30
