Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

Right, I'm back from holiday and have weighed myself for the first time in a week - put on 2.25lbs, which is a lot less than I was expecting given how much I ate. We did a lot of walking though, which hopefully helped. Back on MFP tracking everything and aiming to keep to 1200 cals for the next 28 days.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 03/06/2018 09:06

Shock Muddy how mean of him!!!

Alas I'm not studying anything interesting! I work in tax and it's a professional qualification. However it's the last exam I have to do to get said qualification so I can see the end of the road thankfully. No more exams after this I've been doing them for so long!

Welcome home sleep hope you enjoyed your holiday! 2.25lbs is nothing I'm sure you'll lose that in no time Smile

Bathsheba3 · 03/06/2018 18:05

Good luck with the studying Fading. Thankfully my days of exams are long gone.

One kiwi, salad, smoked salmon, and roast butternut squash so far today, oh, and a handful of nuts. Feeling quite virtuous. More salmon - oven baked with ginger, chilli & garlic - and veggies for my dinner.

We did go out for family dinner last night to burger bar. Had mine without a bun & salad instead. Halo

Hope everyone resisting the calories today!

theredjellybean · 03/06/2018 18:14

can i join in please..didnt last week as was on holiday.
I am 4 kgs ( or 6.5 lbs) off my best weight.
Backstory..been overweight all my life, done all diets known, then about 7-8 yrs ago lightbulb moment, realised i ate too much food generally , and had the most mixed up relationship with the stuff...so i stopped thinking about good /bad foods and had what i felt like, when i was actually really properly hungry . I lost 5 stone in 9 months and have kept it off every since.
but now perimenopausal and find weight gain around middle is crept on. I am also not running as much as i have been as got a bad back at moment.
feels a bit yuck and can see me sliding towards the comfort of wine and crisps....need to get a grip ...now....

so today have eaten so far 650 calories worth...no exercise as at work.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 03/06/2018 20:49

Thanks Bathsheba - can't wait until it's over!! Well done on your virtuous day. I'm jealous of you salmon dinner - I lone salmon but DP is not a fan so I rarely get to eat it. Also impressed with your no bun burger too - I never have the willpower!

Welcome jellybean!

I've had another good day - breakfast was a banana; lunch was falafel, goat's cheese and salad in a pitta, dinner was low-fat carbonara which was very tasty! Also went for an evening walk so steps around 11k Smile

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 03/06/2018 20:52

OH forgot to add my one large glass of white wine with dinner...meant a smaller portion of pasta to keep me under 1200 calories but soooooo worth it!!

MuddyForestWalks · 03/06/2018 20:57

I was good as gold yesterday.

Today I have eaten approximately 8 million calories Blush all of them delicious.

Back on it tomorrow.

Hi all!

Ah op, as long as you enjoyed the calories and no, don’t let it deter you. Just get back on the wagon tomorrow. Sundays are treat days round here too, so I’ve had a bit of carrot cake, though not a massive piece.

So, I’ve been sticking to 16:8. I can’t say if I’ve been all that wonderful in other ways... I haven’t done any exercise other than walking, as it’s been very hot and humid where I am. Also, I don’t know exactly how many calories I’ve actually consumed during my 8 hour eating window, as I haven’t been counting, but it definitely feels as if I’m eating less than usual. I haven’t had any alcohol since I started, so that will have knocked a few calories off. Not that I’ve been drinking that much anyway, due to bfing, but I think even the odd glass can soon add up. Empty calories yada yada.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 04/06/2018 08:54

Never mind muddy, today is a new day!

Welcome Father. I know what you mean re it being too hot/muggy to exercise - I've felt exactly the same over this weekend hence today's walk rather than the run I had planned.

New week! I had a terrible night's sleep so going to have to make sure my tiredness doesn't get the better of me today. I've meal planned for the entire week and have made lunch to take into work. Hope this week is a good one for everyone Smile

MuddyForestWalks · 04/06/2018 08:59

Awful sleep here too. The 1yo woke in the night and was so thrilled to see me he wanted to have a little party, which was infuriating and adorable in roughly equal measures :)

Despite yesterday's calorie fest, my work trousers are noticeably less uncomfortable than they were a week ago. Hooray.

Low Cal day today. As ever, the aim is around 700.
No breakfast, lots of tea, 100 cal.
Lunch - soup and berries, 400 cal.
Dinner - 2 medium poached eggs, spinach, asparagus, grilled mushrooms, 200 cal.

Bathsheba3 · 04/06/2018 12:18

Sorry about the bad sleeps everyone. Sets the day up badly if you are tired, and makes the cravings worse. Keep strong & resist a sugar fix coz if you're me I never stop at one biscuit or chocolate

My scales have finally shifted so despite it being 4th June I shall take today's weight as my starting. I have exactly 1 stone that I want to loose, so 7 lbs this month is a MUST. Preferably by this friday Grin

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 04/06/2018 19:35

What a shitty day!! On top of my lack of sleep my tube was suspended...I left work at 6 and won't be home until 8 at this rate Angry and then I've got to cook dinner. Going to resist the urge to just order a takeaway!! Dinner is Hairy Biker's turkey keema with peas - thankfully it doesn't take too long to cook and is tasty.

I did an hour of Pilates at lunchtime. I've not been in aaages and it was bloody hard work but that's a good thing I suppose. Also should hit my 10K steps today too so overall not a terrible day despite transport woes.

Hope everyone else's day has been better than mine!

FatherMackenzie · 04/06/2018 20:16

Ugh that sucks @fading. Hope you’re home now and enjoying your meal. Sounds lovely!

I’m just having mine now, but it’s a lot less exciting... egg on toast.

I have an interview tomorrow, so I’m going to have to dig out some work wear tonight! First interview I’m years. I’m not even sure if I want the job yet as my baby is still so young, but I don’t know when the opportunity will come up again, so I’m going.

Had a bit of a stressful evening yesterday, but wasn’t tempted by Cake or Wine shockingly.

I’m enjoying 16:8 so far.

halfwitpicker · 04/06/2018 20:44

Well, the fridge was desolate this morning so I had soup and cottage cheese for lunch was wasn't really enough but I'm supposed to be on a diet! Eggs and a small thin slice of toast with peanut butter for breakfast. Dinner will be either burgers or a pizza - whatever we have it'll be served with a big salad.

The weekend wasn't too bad, been hot here so lots of salads and fruit. Not much alcohol, had small glass wine Friday. Will do another big batch of soup tonight to see me through the week.

Everyone is doing so well on here and it's great to share what we've eaten!

theredjellybean · 04/06/2018 20:45

I have had a good day, early morning run was a shocker.. Humid, and legs felt encases in concrete but I did it.. 6km and 500 calories burnt off.
Eaten 950 calories today.. Including a g and t... I find I just need one, but if it was wine it may be one bottle! This way felt it was. Treat, and enjoyed it but didn't need another.

beforeihit30 · 04/06/2018 20:58

Late joiner Smile hellooo.

I would like to lose half a stone in June, I’m not sure I will but I would like to get as far as possible!

Similar to some others, I lost a fair bit of weight post-DC2 but put some back on after returning to work (to new and more stressful job!) and really want to get back down and beyond to my target.

I’m on 1500 calories daily, which works out roughly at a daily deficit of about 800 calories - but I always want a bit more of something/something special on the weekend so trying to balance out (although want to be more careful on the weekend!).

Aiming to start a Fitness Blender programme later this week...

MuddyForestWalks · 04/06/2018 20:58

Finished eating on 850 cal today.

Odd day today. Got sort of internally head hunted for a new project, only to be then told I would need to change my roster, which is currently out of the question. So no new role for me, but I think I didn't want the job, even though it was a good opportunity. Also, DD and going to sleep. Nightmare. Something Must Be Done.

Hello beforeihit30 :) seems returning to work is a bit of a kicker all round!

OP posts:
beforeihit30 · 04/06/2018 21:06

Hi @MuddyForestWalks it really is! Grin I’m only just getting the hang of relatively organised laundry!

I’m impressed by the low cal folk. I’m on 1470 at current, cup of tea will be the end of my day. Had fruit, yoghurt and cereal for breakfast, a chicken and avocado wrap for lunch, a banana, and for dinner had pizza and dough balls.

Obviously when you read that as my lower cal menu you can see I eat plenty! I can’t be doing with feeling hungry and my big issue is snacking or having dessert just for the sake of it, even though I’m not hungry. I eat full fat as I find it much more satisfying and so I don’t want to snack following that. So I’m on a slow and steady approach aiming for 1 pound a week or more when I’m feeling particularly good.

MuddyForestWalks · 04/06/2018 21:12

before I am only doing super low cal every other day. Tomorrow I will have around 1800/1900 calories for a very small calorie deficit. I am not mad on being hungry but I think it does me personally good to be properly hungry sometimes, so that on other days I can identify emotional eating more easily.

Hello, can I join in please?! I really need to lose at least 10 lb but 7lb will be a good start. I weighed in this morning at 10st 6lbs and I would really like to be about 9st 5lb.

I'm going to try and combine 16:8 and MFP. I try to exercise 4 times a week but feeling a bit under the weather this week so I'm not doing as much

Thisimmortalcurl · 04/06/2018 21:33

I would like to join, good for some motivation . I lost 2 stone 3lb between April and August last year . Was over the bloody moon at my target weight . Managed to maintain it pretty much until I got quite ill in Feb and have put on about 8lb.
Really want rid of them by the end off this month and have to get the skimpier clothes on when in holiday .
I calorie count using MFP , try to do 10,000 steps and go on my exercise bike that I have dragged out and placed in the living room until I burn off 200 cals .
I still like my treats and fail if I don’t have them but try to eat and drink the lower calories kind ... having a gin and slim (50 cals) and a chocolate mini milk (30 cals ) whilst I type this .
My biggest fail though is work . I do 3 long days , up at 5.55 am and don’t get back home till 10pm and get so starving.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 04/06/2018 21:39

Made it home by 8, eating by 8:30 so not too bad, and finishing the day on around 1200 again. I'm shattered though, early night for me I think - hoping for a better night's sleep tonight.

Good luck for you interview Father and well done on not succumbing to stress-eating!

Nice run jellybean! I'm so impressed, I find it so hard to run when it's warm!

Well done on your low cal day messy. Its funny how opportunities like that can make you think about things isn't it.

Hi before and rowdy Smile

beforeihit30 · 04/06/2018 21:52

@Muddy that makes complete sense.

I had an unhealthy approach to food for a long time (restrictive and binge) so I’m trying to avoid going to any extremes, despite temptation to cut drastically! However actually feeling hungry makes a lot of sense, too often it is easy to just eat even if we’re not actually hungry.

TheLastNigel · 05/06/2018 09:52

Well last week was a total write off. Did better yesterday as only ate around 1200 calories and most of them good stuff.

Really need to get some exercise in somewhere but can't see where that's going to happen until the weekend.

I'm not sleeping at all well at the minute-only about 4 hours a night at best-bloody insomnia-and im sure that's not helping with trying to lose weight or control cravings.

Let's hope for a good week for us all this week Smile
