Half a stone off in June

MuddyForestWalks · 28/05/2018 17:13

I have, sadly, gained 8lb of the 24lb I lost last summer since returning to work after mat leave. My work trousers are starting to get a bit tight Blush so I am going to lose half a stone in June.

My plan is to sort of follow the 5:2 diet - 2days a week at 800 calories, then the other 5 will be 3 meals, no snacks, no carbs until dinner time. No alcohol. No seconds on the plate. No junk. I am tall, still breastfeeding, so have a pretty high TDEE, and I reckon that should be sufficient.

Anyone else joining me?

Hi can I join too please. Usually just lurk on these boards but feel my head is in the right place to finally get a bit of weight off. Have piled on 2 stones being tired with work, kids and house but determined to put myself first and be more healthy as I approach 40.

Plan is to cut out refined carbs and eat lots more fruit, veg and fish. Starting with yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, salad or soup at lunch and protein and veg at dinner. Have also got some 70% dark chocolate for cravings, and aiming to keep wine to Friday and Saturdays.

Fontella · 31/05/2018 12:52

Just eating lunch - a pitta bread spread with some hummus, two slices of veggie ham, a handful of cherry tomatoes and some sliced red pepper.

Fading I’ve been doing videos by jessicasmithTV on youtube. It’s fairly low impact walking cardio but I’m very overweight so struggle to do exercise much due to that and anxiety. I couldn’t go swimming (the thought alone brings me out in the sweats but I used to love it!) but I do enjoy walking and cycling too and hoping to start cycling to work again soon. My DP is away working so is usually my crutch when it comes going outside / exercising. I’ve ordered a cheapy fit bit and making an effort to get away from my desk and do some walking on a lunch break. It’s just building up the stamina.

Food wise, calorie counting and trying to avoiding bread / pasta / potatoes everyday is slowly helping! I’m so close to my next stone bracket but can’t seem to break through!

Puttingmyselffirst · 31/05/2018 16:33

ravenLG those YouTube workouts look good and not too sore on the knees, thanks for recommending.

Gilbert82 · 31/05/2018 18:31

Just about to have dinner, if I manage to stay out of the biscuit tin after the baby goes to bed I’ll finish today on 1400 calories. Not quite the 1200 I am aiming for but not too bad. Haven’t done any exercise yet this week though Blush will start that next week!

Singingtherapy · 31/05/2018 19:46

Ok I'm joining you, starting tomorrow. I might start with a week of slim fast to get used to eating less. Then go on to healthy 1200 cals a day.

Puttingmyselffirst · 31/05/2018 22:20

Those of you who are counting calories- do you have to weigh and measure everything?

I think I've had a good day today:
B: Greek yoghurt and raspberries
L: smoked salmon, lemon, spinach, rocket, 1/2 an apple
D: Aldi chicken and coconut skewer, 6 baby potatoes, veg crudités, smallish banana and 3 squares green and blacks 70% dark chocolate.
Drinks: water and semi milk in tea.

So I've been healthy but haven't got a clue calorie wise? Either way it's a vast improvement on how I've been eating for the last couple of years so think I will stick with it for June and see what happens on the scales.

MuddyForestWalks · 31/05/2018 22:22

I am weighing everything for now, as I suspect my portion sizes have gotten out of hand Blush

Good morning everyone :) it is now June. Best of luck today.

Can I join too?!

I'm really lacking motivation to lose the last 10lbs of baby weight (2 years later).
I gained massively and have done well, 41lbs lost since birth but need to shift this last bit.

I seem to be in a cycle of being really good and losing a few pounds then doing really badly and putting it back on so never really changing anything.

Weekends are my nemesis!

I've started today with a micro porridge and skimmed milk. It boiled over leaving me with only half the portion- my head is telling me that means I need two slices of toast and marmite to make up for the loss, must resist!

Good luck to everyone, we can do this!

Bathsheba3 · 01/06/2018 12:12

I'm in too. My plan is no alcohol, no sugar, no refined carbs e.g. bread, pasta, potatoes. Minimal fruit (as high sugar).

Must get calorie counting on MFP again. 1200 daily goal.

Exercise = 1hr brisk dog walk every day, plus 2 x bootcamp sessions a week, and 1 run or bike ride.

Have a dress I need to fit into in 3 weeks so need to keep the willpower up!

Fontella · 01/06/2018 12:15

I slipped up a bit last night - got peckish watching that Mary Berry Home Cook programme on the Beeb, so started eating peanut butter out the jar with a spoon, as that was basically all I could find.

(I URGENTLY NEED TO GO GROCERY SHOPPING)

Confused

No Brekkie this morning, but I have just had an early lunch of bits and bobs ......

I found one pitta bread in the freezer and I made a filling of the last two slices of veggie ham chopped up with some red pepper, the last two (slightly wrinkled) cherry tomatoes, the unwilted middle part of a very mangy wilted iceberg lettuce that had been languishing in the bottle of the fridge ... all mixed together with a spoonful of sweet chilli sauce.

If I do say so myself, it was bloody lovely!

Grin
Puttingmyselffirst · 01/06/2018 12:33

Impressed at what you rustled up there Fontanella! I like peanut butter but the thought of eating it out the jar made me feel a bit sick. I need to go shopping too so had baked beans and small wholemeal toast, and a banana for lunch.

Looks like plenty people on board for June, thank you for starting thread Muddyforestwalks

Puttingmyselffirst · 01/06/2018 20:48

How did everyone get on today?

I ate reasonably well for me but probably high calorie.

B: 30g oats, spoonful Greek yoghurt and raspberries
L: 1/2 tin baked beans and 2 small slices wholemeal toast (no butter). Small banana.
D: salmon fillet, 100g avocado, cherry tomatoes. Glass red wine and 3 squares 70% dark chocolate (60 cals).

Think tomorrow will be harder as Saturdays are usually takeaway, will try convince DH to have something else or else resist while he digs in as usual..

halfwitpicker · 01/06/2018 20:52

Last couple of days have been a bit random, eggs and yog for breakfast, then went out for lunch yesterday and had a massive breakfast plate (including yummy banana nutella crêpe) BUT I only ate half then had the other half for lunch today, so not too bad, right?

Also had a choc ice last night. Oops. Did walk a lot though

Dinner last night was small bowl of lentil and veg soup, steak and salad and tonight will be the same but with chicken so a fairly low carb dinner.

halfwitpicker · 01/06/2018 20:54

I bought a dress last week that would look great if I dropped half a stone : it's hanging on the door as inspiration.....

Puttingmyselffirst · 01/06/2018 21:36

Halfwitpicker your dinner sounds lovely. Going out is hard, but at least you manage to spread it out over two days. I'm the same, might try and avoid lunches out and just meet for coffee instead.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 01/06/2018 21:45

Today has been ok! Dinner was prawn Thai red curry - very tasty! I'm finishing on around 1100 calories so not and at all.

Also didn't eat as much yesterday as I might have but I did have a fair amount to drink which I've been paying for today. Know that will have impacted my calorie intake so definitely sticking strictly to 1200 calories over the weekend (normally I'd relax a bit!).

Putting I like your menu for the day! Can't beat beans on toast for lunch Grin

FatherMackenzie · 02/06/2018 08:24

Hello!

May I join you please?

Like you @op, I am also breastfeeding my 4mo. Apparently this is supposed to help you lose baby weight Hmm.

Anywho, weighing in (ding ding ding) today at a little under 12 stone. We’ll call it 11 stone 12 lbs. I’m 5’8”, so half a stone off would take me nicely into healthy bmi range. I also have a family wedding to attend in a few weeks so a few lbs off by then would be fab.

I’m planning to do 16:8 and maybe a wuss version of 5:2, so 1000 calories on two days. I’ve found diet can really effect my milk supply, so I will be playing it by ear a bit.

I’m also going to do a short, 20 min exercise dvd every day (yoga, davina fit in 15 or 30ds).

Starting today with the 16:8 and a dvd.

Fontella · 02/06/2018 10:52

Morning all!

I am incredibly proud of myself. Went out to the pub last night and drank sparkling mineral water with ice and lemon all night. It was actually delicious and refreshing - I think due to the fact that they used fresh cut lemons rather than those horrible jars of lemon slices they use in pubs.

When we got home other half (who is slim by the way) was starving and had a small bowl of crisps and sour cream dip and also a Fry's Peppermint Cream bar - which is my favourite chocolate bar ever in the history of chocolate bars and there is a 2nd in the Fridge.

I HAD A CUP OF PEPPERMINT TEA!!!

Yep - I resisted crisps and I resisted chocolate.

I am feeling very virtuous this morning.

Halo

The reason I am doing this is I want to be able to go on holiday and eat what I want, drink what I want, have an ice cream if I fancy it and not be feeling guilty all the time for indulging myself. By losing a few pounds before I go, well if I gain a few while I'm away I'm not. bothered!

There is nothing worse than resisting everything. I remember going to Cornwall last year - all the lovely pasties and ice creams and cream teas - but there was a 'fat mirror' in the cottage we were staying in, and after seeing myself in that, it put me right off eating anything. Ruined the holiday!!

MuddyForestWalks · 02/06/2018 13:01

Well done fontanella! you are a better woman than me for sure :)

FatherMackenzie I am the same height as you but have more than a stone on you Blush I think 5:2 is meant to be around 1000cal on FDs if you are breastfeeding small ones, that's what I was told last year on the long running 5:2 thread, but DS is 15 months and huge so it doesn't matter a jot if my supply drops, he'll make it up in Cheerios.

Just want to share my lunch. Cauldron veggie sausages, egg fried in one spray of oil, asparagus, spinach, a spot of chilli ketchup. 300 cals. Oh yeah

Half a stone off in June

muddyforest your lunch looks lovely, hope it was as good as it looks.

fontella that is incredible willpower hope you are feeling proud today!

I've had a huge tomato and onion salad with some tuna and a boiled egg. Trying to eat lots of good stuff as have found in the past when I restrict too much I end up craving toast at night.

Singingtherapy · 02/06/2018 16:01

That lunch looks good muddy. I love finding ways to eat a fair size plate of food for minimal calories. I decided on 16:8 in the end. Will try to stick to 2 meals of around 600 calories each.

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 02/06/2018 22:11

That looks lovely Muddy!

I'm finishing on around 1100 today. Leftover curry for dinner. Have been I've not found it too difficult but I've been studying hard for my exam which is in 12 days - has kept me busy.

Also went shopping this afternoon and have meal planned for the week - aiming for a full week under 1200.

How is everyone else finding the weekend?

MuddyForestWalks · 02/06/2018 22:19

Well done fading :) what are you studying?

Bastard husband is supposed to be dieting too and messaged me from work saying he had fish and chips for dinner Angry
