I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

A lot of people swear by the hot water and lemon first thing and it seems to work .

But my question is once I have had it can I then have my coffee as usual or is that pointless? Not sure I can face my day without a coffee.

whereiscaroline · 12/04/2018 13:31

Had porridge and strawberries for breakfast, sushi and an apple and some sunflower seeds for lunch and now having a HUGE craving for chocolate. I'd normally go back into work now and buy a Twix / Mars Bar / Wispa / Kitkat.

Any good tips for fending off chocolate cravings? Envy

troodiedoo · 12/04/2018 13:36

I've found my people as they say! I feel disgusting and ashamed going out without my invisibility cloak big coat

@whereiscaroline chromium tablets can really help with sugar cravings, and are you eating enough protein/fat?

whereiscaroline · 12/04/2018 13:42

Troodiedoo that's good to know, will see if I can get some from Amazon. Thanks.

Possibly not getting enough protein tbh - I tried to add the sunflower seeds for some fat but may also not be enough. Might need to re-think my meals!

I’m in! I’d like to lose 20 lbs. Started last week and have lost 4 lbs so far.

I’m doing the 30 day Shred but only 5 days a week, as I’m very unfit and need a rest day every third day Blush

I’m having overnight oats with chia seeds for extra protein in the morning; a big salad with protein of some sort for lunch (chicken, fish, prawns, chickpeas or halloumi) and then protein and steamed or stir fried veg for dinner.

It’s actually a really nice way to eat once you get in to it. The protein keeps you full and I’m feeling more energetic in general.

4pm is my danger time, so have been having a banana to stave off junk cravings. My jeans are already feeling looser. Really want to look great for a family wedding in early June Grin

Sugar is my nemesis. I'm not even sure why because I had some Cadbury chocolate buttons last night and actually winced at the end of the pack as the after-taste was so vile and greasy. What's happened to Cadbury? It tastes like horrible American chocolate these days.

I had a baby a year ago. I was at my normal pre-baby weight within a few weeks and feeling quite smug with myself. Then I rediscovered the hunger than abandoned me in pregnancy and have gained 1.5 stones in a year!! I'm so ashamed and disgusted but it doesn't seem to stop me. I don't eat much during the day, it's the evenings that get me. DH works away a lot and my evenings are spent grazing. It's crept on so steadily.

Like others, I've been telling myself since Christmas that I'll be slim for summer - and shit, summer starts next week!!!!

Who's mfp?Confused my downfall is bread. I miss it so much.

londonloves · 12/04/2018 15:25

Mfp = my fitness pal. Calorie counting / fitness tracking app

BifsWif · 12/04/2018 15:30

Can I join?! I too have gained when I was supposed to be losing!

Snacking is my downfall, so I’m sticking to three meals a day and using MyFitnessPal. So far this week I’ve had seeded bread with peanut butter and banana for breakfast. A bowl full of veg with a small amount of brown rice and chicken fajita mix (chicken, peppers, onions, fajita seasoning) and surprisingly haven’t felt hungry. I’ve either had fish with veg or an omelette for tea. Drinking 2 litres of water and far too much coffee, I really need to do this. I don’t want to feel horrible in summer. Again.

buckbeak · 12/04/2018 15:32

I'm really struggling today, the kids made chocolate chip cookies and I want to eat them all Sad

I've had breakfast: lemon and hot water. And a protein shake.

Lunch: protein shake.

Tea will be some rabbit food of some description.

millimat · 12/04/2018 15:51

The hardest thing for me is cooking for children Sad

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 12/04/2018 16:07

Today so far has been ok. But hat is probably because I have been STUFFING MY FACE up until last night. Am bloated.

Had four tiny easy peelers and an apple for breakfast - usually I plan to eat eggs but just didn't need them this morning. A latte (I just WILL NOT give those up!) and blueberries for a snack. Salmon sashimi and cucumber for lunch, with miso soup and extra seaweed. Felt full.

Went for an hour's walk this morning too and just took the kids swimming. Made no actual effort in the pool tho!

Later is chicken and cashew bit stir fry - no rice, just massive amounts of veg.

Am seeing three friends for a hobby tonight: usually we drink a large glass of red each, and I have some chocolate for them from my trip. This will be a challenge. They'll laugh at me, but I am taking carrot sticks!

londonloves · 12/04/2018 16:09

No wine til Saturday now ...

lollipopjones · 12/04/2018 16:46

But I'm going to have to up my game so am looking for advice and support x

londonloves · 12/04/2018 17:29

Having a 28 calorie instant hit chocolate to try and beat the sugar cravings...!

whereiscaroline · 12/04/2018 17:48

So hungry!**

I'm laurenkh1 on MFP if anyone wants to add me over there.

CharminglyGawky · 12/04/2018 18:17

I'm in, I was overweight when I got pregnant morning sickness mean that I didn't actually put much weight on during pregnancy but moving house across the country to an area where I didn't really know anybody and feeling a bit like a isolated led to a just over 1 1/2 stone gain in a year!

Have lost 1.5 stone so far and am aiming to hit the 2 stone mark by the end of the month before we go on our first family holiday in May!

Am doing slimfast, not the best diet plan but has got good results quickly and I don't feel hungry, after the holiday I plan to relax the diet a bit and lose weight more slowly but hopefully in a way that is more likely to stay off! I will still have 3 stone to lose then though!!!!

whereiscaroline · 12/04/2018 18:38

Does anyone have any knowledge about protein shakes? I'm wondering if they could be a good breakfast replacement or afternoon snack but I'm reminded of the scene from Mean Girls where the girls' health bars were swapped for protein bars and they gained a load of weight!

winterisstillcoming · 12/04/2018 19:26

I'm hungry too.

I've just tried on my dress for my birthday and it's snug and keeps riding up and ruching. Yuck. I needed to do that to motivate me as I'm flagging and hungry and grumpy.

Has everybody reached Peak hunger yet? I'm going to wait until my energy levels perk up before exercising as I'm recovering from anaemia. Although I am hitting my 10000 steps.

V.v.v.v heavy periods resulted in me going on the mini pill, which has been great but the lethargy of the anaemia and going on the pill has resulted in 1.5 stone surplus. Well, that's my excuse anyway.

I've also text a friend who had booked a long leisurely lunch for us next week to cancel it and can we spend the time and money at the beauty counter instead, and she was really understanding. I've also dodged a dinner out this weekend so I should stay on track. My social life is my downfall, unfortunately.

Well done everyone on surviving, these first few days are hardest, and I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's losses.. when is everyone weighing in, if at all? I don't think I'll last a week so maybe tomorrow morning.

londonloves · 12/04/2018 20:04

I really like this thread, thanks OP for setting up. It's nice that we are all being honest about how bastarding hard t is and no one is saying "well it's cos you're eating too much sugar, why not have a handful of nuts instead".

londonloves · 12/04/2018 20:05

We've just had modest portions f slimming world slag Bol recipe with rocket and cucumber, and finished off the last of the Easter egg. So I'm off the chocolate from tomorrow 😭😭

whereiscaroline · 12/04/2018 20:22

Sorry but I had to laugh at "slag bol" Grin

londonloves · 12/04/2018 21:03

Hahahaaaaa you slaaaaaaag

winterisstillcoming · 12/04/2018 21:12

To be fair, I'd eat that right now.

Tainrainrain · 12/04/2018 21:24

Not sure I’ve eaten enough today. I started to feel a bit odd. But I’ve been out all day and just not organised. But I’ve finished the yummy curry tonight and feel a lot better.
Walking isn’t so good when the kids are off because they moan. But next week I’m going to try and do 20,000 steps a day.
Everyone seems to be doing so well.
I’m also veggie and 48 so my age may mean I lose it slowly. But I am concentrating on health as well... menopause and all the glamour it brings.
I’ve got a few T shirts from long tall sally that are longish.
I seriously need to sort out my massive arms. Pilates next week too

Right need to think about what I’m going to eat tomorrow.
Thanks for the support I’m sorry but I’m so relieved (in the nicest possible way) that I’m not the only one who dreads the good weather.
Xxx
