I need to lose three stone... My cunning plan to lose the two stone over the winter was scuppered by me putting on another one.
So does anyone fancy a healthy eating thread? Sensible and no sugar and crap?
Or does anyone have time to follow me around prising the rubbish I'm about to consume out of my mouth?
The plan is to eat really well then at the weekend have one reasonable treat. I'm going to eat carbs but small amounts early in the day and only wholegrain or brown rice.
I'm just going to start with a stone and then see how it goes.

@londonloves swimming?

londonloves · 13/04/2018 15:56

Yes, there's a pool very near my house too - like everything it needs major negotiation with my partner though. I used to work out or swim five times a week and I was super fit, I'm finding the post natal body a bit of a challenge!

OhGood · 13/04/2018 16:01

Best thread name. Can I join?

I have just done a lot of panic shopping as no longer fit into last year's summer fatpants. Was in such shock that had to eat some M&Ms to calm self down.

Clearly, Something Must Be Done.

I start a new, hard, stressful job next week, so may not post regularly, but will lurk and be inspired.

millimat · 13/04/2018 16:40

@londonloves what about cycling worth your baby in a trailer? There's no impact on your body.

winterisstillcoming · 13/04/2018 17:52

Hey everybody, how's your day going?

I've had a difficult one, spent a day out with the kids and it was all about damage limitation.

I did well as I only had beans on toast (no butter), while parked next to domes and domes of diffferent cakes with a friend who is most definitely desperate to get in a dress that's a size too small. But the journey home with 3 hyped up kids did me in and I caved when I got in. I've had 3 crackers and a very small slice of lemon cake, as an apple for me, but feel so much better.

I'll have a later dinner and an early night to avoid further scoffage.

It might be worth seeing a physiology re: prolapse, they'll not only recommend kegals but safe exercises to build up your core. A few private sessions are well worth the money.

winterisstillcoming · 13/04/2018 17:56

Sorry, my is not desperate to get in a dress

applelolly · 13/04/2018 18:29

hello, can I join you please?
I have around 3 1/2 stone to loose. It was more but I have managed to loose 1 stone since beginning of Jan. It has been hit and miss though and I keep falling off the wagon!
Around 7 years ago I lost 4 stone, was at target weight and had built up from C25K to running a half marathon. Then I sort of gave up, put ALL the weight back on and stopped any sort of exercise Blush Sad
So, here I am. Back on it and fully committed (for now!)
I have been good on the whole this week. Lots of fruit/veg/lean protein. Some treats in moderation. I started back to running in Jan (although this has been hampered by frequent stupid snow!)I am now aiming for 3 runs a week : 1 x 6/7 K, 1 x 4/5 K faster paced and a longer 10k at weekends. I'm signed up for a 10K run with a friend in May so thoughts of that are keeping me at it! Trying not to weigh more than once a week. next weigh in day will be next Thursday.
Keep at it all!

BifsWif · 13/04/2018 18:52

The dreaded weekend.

Usually I’d be knee deep in chocolate with a Chinese takeaway on order by now Sad.

Im going to have a nice stir fry instead - yay! I’ve convinced DH to make a home made curry tomorrow and I’ll make sure I have a very modest breakfast and lunch to make up for it.

I find this so much harder when I’m at home compared to being at work.

londonloves · 13/04/2018 19:08

Yep thanks to the prolapse advice, I just got back from an appointment with my private (astonishingly expensive) physio and she's given me a load of excercises to do- I'm very bad at the discipline of it but hoping that improving my willpower on the rating front will help in other area too. I remember reading somewhere that willpower is like a muscle and it gets easier to activate the more you use it.
I have had a pretty good day - had a bagel at brunch with cream cheese and smoked salmon but have compensated for it with nearly two hours walking. Tomorrow will be terrible as going for pizza to celebrate anniversary with my partner but I think I will be in calorie deficit so hopefully won't be too bad.
This group is really helping me - thanks gang 💕

whereiscaroline · 13/04/2018 22:05

Well done everyone. Fridays are tough! I have not been great today, we were running late for the theatre after work and ended up stopping at McDonalds.

I had 6 chicken nuggets and an ice cream cone for my tea. Managed to stay away from the chips and milkshakes... small victories! And somehow still under daily calorie allowance on MFP. Think I must have forgotten to enter some food into it somewhere today though!

Parkrun in the morning, followed by a food shop to stock up on eggs, meats, tuna and anything else which can be used as a quick appetite quencher when finding myself in the fridge at the weekend.

@londonloves what about yoga or Pilates? Sorry if that's a crap suggestion, I have heard it being touted as a good exercise for people who need something more gentle so might be worth considering.

Inarutneedhelp · 13/04/2018 22:15

Ugggggggg going to bed with indigestion and not a rennie or gaviscon to be found . Had a bagel for tea and a banana , did not agree . Weekend away now so it will be hard but then I have nothing major till end of June so lots of time to get with the plan .

winterisstillcoming · 13/04/2018 22:19

London, I'm glad, you've seen a professional, I do my kegals at red traffic lights. A friend does them during commercial breaks. It's got a bit Pavlovian but this week is testing me as I can't stop weeing.

londonloves · 14/04/2018 07:45

My physio has actually said I shouldn't do too much yoga as I've got hyper mobility too... I do enjoy it though, may try to do some dvds now that the small one seems to be able to cope with napping on his own.
Having a bad start to the day with white bread... today is gonna be bad, but I came in under calorie allowance yesterday and will aim for a good Sunday. It's a bit like two steps forward, one step back!
Happy weekend everyone xx

PixieN · 14/04/2018 08:50

I did quite a bit of walking yesterday & my ‘Strictly’ dance dvd for damage limitation as I had my usual Friday night takeaway (minus chips & fatty sauce though). Going to try a Zumba class next week. I already do a dance aerobics class once a week which I love.

The first week of couch to 5k is also happening next week - just need to motivate myself to do it! I like that it’s in small chunks & steps up gradually as I’m hoping that will be more manageable. I’m not a big fan of running, but It does feel good after you’ve done a run & I know it shifts the weight so thanks for the encouraging comments. I may be able to find someone who’ll come with me..... the last time I ran with a friend, it was on a Saturday/Sunday morning & she was usually hungover Grin

Got 2st to lose. Lapsed Weight Watchers Gold member. Never lost weight through exercise, but do intend to get moving more for general health benefits.

I've been counting 1200 cals on MFP for a week. It's been hard, but have kept it up. Last night was a rare night out and I counted each of my vodka and diet cokes, but have woken up starving.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 14/04/2018 12:35

Quite a good day yesterday: fruit and nuts for breakfast, spinach omelette for lunch, dahl for tea. Latte treat. Prawns for a snack. About 1300 calories. Felt full in a good way. Didn't exercise tho.

Today so far: walk, apple and nuts for breakfast, out for brunch but had veggie breakfast and left all the toast. Two lattes - a treat.

More walking later and a chicken salad.

Feeling really in the zone today.

Trying for a run tomorrow - have had problems with a chest infection so this is the first run for weeks. It will be more of a walk tbh. Also a swim tomorrow evening.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

justanothercreditissue · 14/04/2018 15:08

Oh god me too.

Tubelight2016 · 14/04/2018 18:25

I am cooking for our guests tonight. They are staying in a central London hotel but coming home for dinner. I am cooking chicken kebabs and finger pizzas for staters and lasagne for main. I have made some avocado and mango salad (for me ) and ice cream for dessert. Temptation is in wine , I just can't resist!!!!!!! Tonight will be v v v v hard .

winterisstillcoming · 14/04/2018 22:22

Today, has been hard, and I've lapsed as had a big lunch at the mother in law's who will gossip about me trying to lose, weight if she knew, so I had to let it slide. Had a small dinner though and have a busy day planned tomorrow.

Keep going everybody!

Ishouldntbesolucky · 14/04/2018 22:40

Can I join too please?

Shiny's post about putting off losing weight until after Christmas/winter/Easter is soo me - sadly.

But today was the first nice sunny day this year and I realised I'd have to brave going out without my coat to cover all the flab.

I have about 1 1/2 stones to lose and I really need to get on with it.

I'm going to give up chocolates/biscuits/cake/crisps and try eating 3 meals a day with no snacks.

londonloves · 15/04/2018 08:01

Hey everyone, predictably disastrous day yesterday, loads of bread and three course dinner out including loads of wine. But much needed date night!
Am working today and hungover so going to need some willpower to resist the carbs!

millimat · 15/04/2018 08:14

Tonight is weigh in night for me Wink I know evenings aren't best but is when I have time because I want to do measurements too. I did this lady Sunday so I'll have a direct comparison.
Yesterday I crumbled and had some chocolate shortbread.Sad

londonloves · 15/04/2018 09:36

Does anyone have a good resource on how to do measurements properly?

Ishouldntbesolucky · 15/04/2018 17:14

First day for me and I feel ravenous.

Toast for breakfast and soup for lunch. Not sure what I'm going to have for dinner yet. Posting here to keep my resolve and not snack.

whereiscaroline · 15/04/2018 22:03

@millimat how did your weigh in go?

Weekend has been ok here, no chocolate has passed my lips for 5 days now which might not sound like much for some but is a massive achievement for my chocolate-addicted self. Have noticed that cravings for it are gradually dying down too.

Low point of the weekend was cooking and eating a SW paella, thinking it was a "virtuous" meal, then logging it into MFP and realising the rice alone was 350 calories! Shock

Starting to feel less bloated now after a few days of healthy eating although definitely could / should be doing better with water consumption.

Meals prepped for tomorrow and I'm trying to resist the urge to go downstairs and eat them now!

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend.
