Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

Well done Sunday!

Thisismyhappyface · 23/03/2018 11:02

Op on Wednesday didn't go quite to plan- ended up staying in for a while, so have been on hospital rations and bed rest.
Feeling a bit sick on painkillers this morning, so had honey on toast and crisps for breakfast Blush
Am up now and on peppermint tea to try to get rid of post op bloating- weighed in at 10st 9lb this morning, so 11lbs needs to be lost before I fit into my clothes again!

OhGood · 23/03/2018 11:04

Bit late to join and have not read full thread but can I please sign up?

Not weighing but want to drop a dress size from 18 (largest ever!) to 16.

I am MFP and doing a bit of exercise.

Stitchosaurus · 23/03/2018 11:13

0.6 lb off today so yesterday's exercising did help, phew! Am having a rest day today and sticking to 1200 calories. Family meal out tomorrow has been cancelled which is a good thing for my diet!

Weighing every day works for me too, otherwise I also 'forget' how many times I'm slipping on the healthy eating. Definitely spurs me on.

Notproudofthisone · 23/03/2018 14:50

I weighed myself this morning and I’m now only 3lbs off a healthy BMI. Still another stone and a half or so to lose, but can’t wait to be a healthy weight.

Bobbiepin · 23/03/2018 14:50

Thanks @Sundaygirls I'm 1lb down so far, 18 to go for midway goal. It's a step in the right direction. Porridge & banana for breakfast, small pack of noodles & jacket potato for lunch. I have some dried mango for a snack later too. I'm doing a deep clean at home today so hopefully burning a calorie or two more than sitting on the sofa.

@happyface are you ok? When do you think you'll be home & back on your feet? I don't think anyone would begrudge you a packet of crisps in your situation. Be kind to yourself.

catlover99 · 23/03/2018 15:16

Lovely to see so many on this thread!

I will probably try weighing every day as well, starting tomorrow. I think I too impatient to wait longer! And if you wait longer, then the expectations grow and then the disappointment could be too great. Whereas every day the best you could hope for would be a very small change, so less room for disappointment.

My evening was OK yesterday, slight diversion with a half-finished opened packet of prawn crackers that was left lying around, but I checked the (empty) packet afterwards and they are pretty low calorie, so not too disastrous. Tuscan bean soup for dinner with a slice of sour dough bread.

This morning the cats were obliging and did not bring in any presents, so I had breakfast (egg and rye bread again), and then noodle soup for lunch. So all good so far today. I am planning a short run for later today.

Hope everybody has a good weekend and manages to not drop off the bandwagon, or at least then get back on again soon.

hairycoo · 23/03/2018 15:19

ooh can i join, even if Im a bit late to the party? Im 5'9 and bloody 11'12. Ideal weight is 10 but comfortable at 10'7. I bought one of those New You 10 day diet packs but dont want to use it until after easter. A few reviewers said that they lost between 7 -14lbs in the first week on it. So ideally if i could lose even 12lbs before starting it, and then lost 7lbs on it id be happy!

Thisismyhappyface · 23/03/2018 15:47

Thanks Bobbie
I'm home today, but still not quite up and about. On the sofa with grapes now, so feeling quite virtuous!
I'm going to track food on MFP from today, DH is home for a couple of weeks from tomorrow, and he's a total feeder, so need to be aware of extra calories sneaking in! Planning 1200 a day.

SundayGirls · 23/03/2018 16:34

Thank you Buster! Smile

thisis sorry to hear you're not too good. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Flowers Peppermint tea is perfect for settling stomachs, I've been meaning to get some myself, I used to drink lots but I forgot about it until now!

ohgood Welcome! Flowers it's never to late to join, glad to have you here!

Stitch excellent news about your 1/2 pound off!

Notproud great stuff Star so nearly there! If you can keep that going, there's no reason why those 3lb won't be gone by Tuesday!

bobbie 1lb off, yay! And this time next week it'll be more, for sure!

catlover if you had to snack on anything, prawn crackers are the best for not overdoing it! Tuscan bean soup sounds gorgeous, I might do a soup this weekend. I love French onion and leek & potato the best. Yum Smile

hairycoo of course you can join! Welcome in! It's never too late Smile
The New You pack sounds great - I haven't heard of that, will look it up - and I'm sure you can lose some pounds between now and starting it after Easter! Lots of good tips and support on here, we're all in it together!

@happyface keep up with the small snacks over having big meals if you have little to distract yourself from eating during the day when you're stuck on the sofa.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/03/2018 19:12

Been rushed off my feet all day ( and I work in a cafe , so there’s food all round me )
Going to dinner at a friends house tomorrow ( and she’s a tremendous hostess , so around a million calories will be consumed )
Will assess the damage on Monday

Startoftheyear2018 · 23/03/2018 21:06

Well done all. I've snaffled a giant baked potato with low sugar baked beans, so I'm hoping that will stop me snacking tonight. Going to the gym tomorrow...

buckeejit · 23/03/2018 21:21

@Thisismyhappyface get well soon-glad you're home but yes be kind to yourself! Your body has trauma to recover from!

I've almost finished my 2nd packet of maize snacks (multi pack size) & small glass of wine tonight so not amazing start to the weekend but better than it normally would be! Off to bed soon for damage control.

I need to find time for more walking or other gentle exercise. Will try to get into a habit in eater hols with longer nights hopefully 🤞

buckeejit · 23/03/2018 21:22

Oops-Freudian slip, obvs meant Easter holidays -doesn't bode well! 😬

SundayGirls · 23/03/2018 23:02

Eater holidays!! Grin love it! Sounds about right for me! But not this year of course Wink if I’m to stay on track for my 5 week plan (4.5 weeks to go!!)

So pleased I'm doing this - thanks Sunday!

Thisismyhappyface · 24/03/2018 07:47

Amazingly, I'm down 1lb! Must be some of the water retention leaving at last. Was just over on MFP yesterday, but all things considered bot too bad.
This small loss has spurred me on to choose a spicy omelette for breakfast over croissants!
Today is my first day properly up after my op, so need to start as I mean to go on, albeit at a snails pace.

Daily goals:
Plenty of water
Sensible lunch portion (SIL cooking, and very generous)
Short walk after lunch

SundayGirls · 24/03/2018 08:05

Rise and shine, fellow happy and committed weight losers! Smile

1lb down is brilliant Thisis! Hope you're feeling a little better today and well done for choosing the omelette this morning. All these small good choices add up, all of them. Also I love your plan for today. You can do it!

Feel such a fraud because I join threads like this all the time and then stuff it up....but will you please let me in if I promise to behave?
Started this week and have lost 3lbs but I bet you anything it will be back on Mon unless I’m super strict!

Notproudofthisone · 24/03/2018 08:20

Went to my mums for dinner, she made a veg stew as she’s veggie and came in at 170 calories for a huge pasta bowl filled and 100g of cous cous with pomegranate seeds for another 120 calories. It was spicy and amazing, meant I had plenty of calories left over for a couple of glasses of prosecco (which she got because it’s lower calories than wine Grin) and I was so full afterwards.

Stitchosaurus · 24/03/2018 09:40

0.4 lb off this morning and I did my workout despite really not wanting to!
Ha, I always join these threads too, but I am determined this time - we will do this!

Thisis well done on the weight loss, hope you're feeling ok.

Good luck for the weekend everyone.

RunMummyRun68 · 24/03/2018 11:35

I fear I'm getting fatter! I dare not weigh and I skipped my slimming world weigh in!

I lost my bank card and my replacement has not arrived yet....10 days without it now, so we are eating what we have (plenty in cupboard/freezer) but I've run out of fruit/veg/healthy stuff and have eaten WHITE BREAD!!!!

I'm 4 weeks off London Marathon and my running is not where it should be

I need to run 16 miles tomorrow...

RunMummyRun68 · 24/03/2018 11:36

mrsgrindah me too!Blush

But well done and keep it up!

nocrispsnocrackers · 24/03/2018 12:06

I stuck with no crisps or crackers all week and no eating after dinner and I was 2lbs lighter this morning than I was on Tues. Tonight will be a harder test though-if I go out for a drink I know I'll be tempted to pig out. I'm really looking forward to the brighter evenings next week as I think it should make the no snacking in the evenings a bit easier.
