Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

Isn't it nocrisps

I'm fasted for my op today-so hungry! Was quite restrained yesterday, then got home and ate a packet of crisps and a lion bar whilst dinner was cooking Angry

I am in - almost exactly the same as OP. Started 10 days ago and lost 4 lbs so far. Going with the no white carbs, portion control and loads more veggie food approach. Been a lot easier so far than I thought!

Weighed in this morning at 11-11 Which is bad , but not as bad as I thought
I’m 5 ft 6 , so I think my highest healthy weight is 11-01 , I’m aiming for 10 stone 13 though

Today’s plan

High fibre muesli , milk and strawbs for breakfast
Massive bowl of salad for lunch
Grilled salmon , loads of veg for dinner

I’m hoping for a glass of wine as a treat

I’m using MFP , to try and keep on track

Positive big slimming pants going on after my shower

Weighed in today at 11 stone 7.25lbs. 1.25lb down this week, 7.8lbs down in 2 weeks!!!!
Glad I still lost because went to visit my dad at the weekend and had a curry out at dinner, a massive roast dinner and chocolate cake and about 2 bottles of prosecco Grin

Good morning all and welcome ocelot!

Sounds like a great plan for the day, Doilook!

Well done on your half stone off so far Notproud!

I did have a bath and an early night last night which helped me stay away from the snacks! 10st 5 today so 3lb off so far.

Bought Easter eggs for the dcs yesterday which made me think I’ll have to get a plan together for all the Easter goodies that will be around in 2 weeks! Maybe I’ll buy a small egg for myself instead of picking at all the dc’s.

Daily missive today - I will drink 8 glasses of water. I’m so bad at drinking enough water and it does help you feel fuller and also it’s great for helping water retention along!

Sunday I carry round a water bottle, even at home so it’s always there. One with a straw built in so never spill it etc, I fill it up a few times a day. Find it easier than remembering a glass of water.

Doilook you have me intrigued - Positive big slimming pants? What on earth does that mean Grin?

Weighed in this morning and it could have been worse - 10st 10lb. I am a shortie compared to a lot of you, so that puts me into the overweight category according to BMI.

Not great, but not as bad as it could have been. I have been feeling very sluggish these days, which probably makes me think I am heavier. I will set myself a target of 10st, which feels doable.

Is BMI a good indicator anyway? Especially when you get a bit older (I am in my 40s). I do feel sluggish, but in all honesty I think that I am driven by vanity at the moment rather than genuine health concerns, if that makes sense. I just feel better when I am slimmer?

Anyway, started off well today and had breakfast. Egg on rye bread, very tasty. Lunch will be from the salad bar.

Hope you all have a good day and keep to your targets!

catlover I am totally driven by vanity first, health second Smile but both are intertwined fortunately so even if vanity driven, health will benefit.

Personally I do think bmi is a good indicator (unfortunately!). Only if someone is outside the norm in terms of being very muscular so it weighs more than fat is the exception, I think. Otherwise I think it’s about right, including in 40s and above, although maybe it gets a little harder to maintain weight during the menopause. I know a fair few women in 40s and 50s who are slim and healthy. They just take care of themselves a bit more then when in 20s maybe, exercise more etc.

10lb off is a very good goal and definitely achievable in 5 weeks. Your breakfast sounds great & salad lunch plans excellent! Good luck for the day ahead!

and thanks for the tips, notproud and doilook - I was thinking of getting a water infusion bottle so I can put lemon, and cucumber & strawberry etc in it.

I am joining too if that is okay.

I started last week and this Monday I was 16lbs above a healthy BMI and I am determined to be a healthy weight this summer.

I am cutting down on carbs (and calories) but still eating fruit and some root vegetables.

Slightly panicked about a 4 night hotel stay at Easter as all meals will be eaten in the hotel, but will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Hello Lucked, of course! Welcome in!

Being a healthy weight is definitely achievable by this summer.

I know what you mean about the Easter thing... always so many more things to eat which are out of the ordinary. I'm a big believer in planning ahead, when in the mindset to do it.

There'll be lots of support here!

I'll join in. I might find a whole stone difficult though. I will pledge to lose eight pounds in five weeks. I will post my weight loss (not my actual weight. Too bad I'm afraid:/) Here every time I leave one pound.

Welcome joanna!

Great that you are setting an achievable goal for you. And no matter what your weight is, you will be lighter this time next week than today! (I'm a great believer in setting positive outcomes so you subconsciously follow them).

I find it helpful to have a useful tip to myself for the day. A daily goal that isn't weight loss but is linked i.e. today's is that I'm going to drink 8 glasses of water. Just in case you might like to try that. I find it helps me to keep focused on the diet indirectly, but not on the scales.

I've now got rid of the big box of malteasers so definitely on it now! I probably should have thrown them away rather than eat them but at least they're gone now!

I'm going to write a food plan for next week and get a shop delivered on Sunday.

Today's menu:
B- muesli with skimmed milk
L- brown rice, cucumber, tuna, sweetcorn, edam, anchovies
D- quorn mozzeralla & pesto escalope with salad & pasta or cous cous

Probably some grapes and a yogurt at some point too!

Oh and I weighed this morning and I'm 10.6. At 5'2 I'm definitely in need of losing a few!

Checking in for today - the scales confirmed my weight at 12 st 2 lb this morning. I know technically it's not overweight for my height but I'm edging towards a size 16 and I was always as size 10-12. My holidays are at the end of June so I'd like to have lost the weight and toned up for that. Breakfast was an orange juice, banana and chia seed smoothie - 245 calorie. Of course I haven't been organised and don't have my lunch with me to work so I don't know what I'll do. It's all about organisation isn't it? Going to head for a swim or to the gym later. Hope you're all doing ok

I'm upping the water intake today too. I'm back at work now,and 800 steps off the magic 10,000

Chicken salad for lunch with fruit. Not sure yet about dinner

No run today

Plan a fast 5k at parkrun on Saturday
And a slow 10+ Mile slow long run on Sunday. 31 days til my marathon!!

I'm just over 5'2'' and 9st 9lb is the top end of the healthy BMI range for that height. I reckon it's been about 5 years since I was (briefly) that weight and I need to loose 11lbs to get there again. I have borderline high blood pressure and the weight can't be helping that situation.
I have teenage boys so there is always a lot of food in the house and they are constantly snacking but I'm determined to be in better shape for my holidays in June.

Hello, can I join in please?

I've been exercising fairly regularly but still stuffing my face, so funnily enough no weight is coming off!

I'm 5'6 and around 12 stone - I want to lose at least two stone so one in 5 weeks sounds like a good plan. I've got a fancy do on May 11th when I'll have to wear a nice dress, so that's my motivation.

We had lunch out today so I've already gone over 1200 calories (logging on MFP) and am out tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday - argh! But I'll just make sure I stick to light meals at all other times and hope there isn't too much damage.
