Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

Hi, please may I join this thread. I have nc for this.I need to lose 3 stone , this has crept up over the last few years.I like to eat- healthy and junk! Portion sizes are a problem. I am 5’ 4 tall and 13.5 stone.
I feel if I lose weight then my life will change for the better as I will have proven to myself that I can be strong and use my will power to bring about this change. I dont like the way I look , not to mention worry about health side effects from being so overweight. On top of that I am a HCP and feel secretly embarassed at knowing the theory but still feeling detached and unmotivated to bring about this change.End of june and then in july I have 2 events that I am attending , that I would like to aim to lose weight for .It does give me some time realistically.

Welcome Mrsgrindah and moreofme! Flowers Of course you can join in, good to have you!

mrsgrindah may I suggest Grin you write a statement to yourself saying that you will stay on this thread. I am (ahem) more than a little fond of writing down what you want to achieve no matter how big or small. And staying on this thread is second step (first step was coming on, so a great start already!) Smile

moreofme do you have a preferred healthy eating method or technique? Have you used any plan in the past? There's lots of ways to lose excess weight, finding the right one for you is the key! Do you like more protein/low carb foods or are you (like me) a complete carb addict? I have successfully lost weight in the past eating a lot of carbs compared to protein so it can definitely be done.

Run I know you won't want to hear this but I think you should feel the fear and step on the scales. No matter what they say, you know where you are and it's probably not as bad as you think! When going off track, the best way back is to keep to the usual routines. In the past if I didn't weigh I would find myself overeating that day because it was like a lost day. Which it's not, every day counts! Also about your bank card... are you able to visit your bank with ID? They usually let you have money out over the counter when you prove your identity (a bank statement would also help to prove address).

stitch well done on your loss today! Keep going, it all adds up even the half and the quarter pounds. It's like saving - look after the pennies (pounds) and the pounds (stones) will take care of themselves!

Oh and my personal mission for today is I will not do any Saturday night snacking.

Half a pound off today but still within 10st 4. Hoping to see a 3 on the scales tomorrow!

Thank you [Sunday].Well done ! That is inspiring x it makes it seem doable for others like me ! If I plan meals then I tend to be ok.It’s not having healthier choices ready for when I come back from a tiring day at work .This is my downfall and I will then devour anything in the cupboards as I’m starving then! I mainly eat healthily but the portion sizes are much bigger than what my body needs but Im ashamed to say Im greedy! I love salads etc but I also love my white rice - so trying to replace that now with cauliflower rice which is acceptable in terms of taste etc..Also I find that cooking fir my teenage son whose needs and likes are mainly meat based , makes it harder for me to stay on course . Using mfp and calorie counting did help previously but because I cook a lot putting my own twist on Indian recipes etc working out the calories in each portion etc was too much work and put a stop to thatSad

Lucked · 24/03/2018 15:25

Well we ended up with a Chinese last night, we had visitors and not enough food in. I was as good as I could be, I got oiled rice and chicken with cashew nuts which had loads of veg but it was still a large portion.

Scales stayed the same this morning and having a good day but going out for dinner later to a beefeater so off to pour over the menu.

nocrisps well done 2lbs in 4 days is a great result.

moreofme welcome. I am on here to make a significant difference before the summer too. We have the time to make a big difference by then.

MrsGrindah · 24/03/2018 16:01

Yep I’m going to come back on Monday am with my weigh in results

catlover99 · 24/03/2018 18:12

SundayGirl I love French onion soup. The Tuscany bean soup is really simple and healthy. It just takes a while to chop up all the veg (I cut it into small chunks).

MrsGrindah please do stay and keep us company, whether you behave or not! Hopefully this thread will give you some ideas, inspiration and encouragement.

RunMummy the London Marathon. Just wow. That is amazing. Is it your first?

I have good news and bad news - the good is that I weighed myself this morning and I was 1lb less than four days ago. So now I am 10 st 9lb, with 9lb to go. Could be a freak, or just water, but I am happy with it. The bad is that I have gone down with a horrible head cold, my ears are buzzing, my threat hurts, I have shivers going up and down my back and I am feeling really grumpy and clogged up. So I am just lying on the sofa, with the schools uniforms unwashed and the kitchen a mess, feeling really sorry for myself. I have cancelled my plans to meet up with an old friend I have not seen for months tonight Sad.

catlover99 · 24/03/2018 18:26

moreofme I am exactly like that after work - I could eat anything I find when I get home from work! Meal-planning is a godsend and really helps, but you have to stick to it, but it is really hard at times.

RunMummyRun68 · 24/03/2018 18:27

catlover no, have run London Marathon once before.....was fitter then but a bit fatter, weirdly! and younger! 46 as opposed to 49 now

Its a great day.....loved every minute of it. Crowd support is surreal, as with any race. today at park run there were people cheering us on, means so much and makes a difference.

i want french onion soup now!!

M5tothesouthwest · 24/03/2018 19:08

Super chuffed to be down to 10st 3lb today (from 10st 5lb on Monday). I am going for a big run tomorrow so hope to see 10st 2lb at Monday's weigh-in.

SundayGirls · 24/03/2018 19:35

Well done M5 that's fantastic progress!!

I'm struggling hard tonight not to break into the Mini-egg mini packets that are in the cupboard ready for the DC's Easter egg hunt next weekend. I also have all manner of big chocolate eggs there but I somehow wouldn't break into an egg, but I could so easily just eat one (or two or three) treat size packets of mini-eggs. Itching to do it but I haven't (yet)... Argh it's so hard as usually on a Saturday night I would have some treats etc but I know if I do treats as soon as week 1, then I could easily lose motivation for the start I've made.

So hard to resist though! But I've done so many false starts and back to square one's I just don't want to go there again.

(trying to convince myself here!)

and catlover well done on your 1lb off and sorry to hear you're not feeling well, wrap up and take care of yourself Flowers Brew

Don't do it Sunday! Reward yourself with one egg tomorrow morning if you resist opening the bag this evening.

SundayGirls · 24/03/2018 21:02

Thanks for the motivation Start! I had a cup of tea and a tiny packet of raisins instead, so the craving has momentarily passed but it's still lurking. Seriously considering going to bed early!

Thisismyhappyface · 24/03/2018 21:27

Well I have done well on the water and walking goals today, but have just logged foods at 1700 calories rather than my planned 1200...
However, that includes a roast dinner and rice pudding, and a glass of wine, so not suprising really. Avoided the roast potatoes, so better than it could have been!
Have light meals planned tomorrow, might try to balance out a bit there.

Well done to all those who have had losses- keep up the good work Star

And Sunday, step away from the chocolate!

Startoftheyear2018 · 24/03/2018 22:35

Sunday, someone said 'tomorrow you'll be lighter than today' (could have been you!) and if you crack now you'll not be able to avoid chocolate (easily) again. The next few weeks are going to be full of temptation and if you are serious about losing this darned weight then that means not cracking. It's easy for us to eat those yummy little eggs, but then we won't lose weight. Be strong!!

Thisismyhappyface · 25/03/2018 07:42

Another 1.5lb off! I know it is all water, but it's a good incentive to carry on Smile 10st 6.25lb

Daily goals
Drink lots of water
Eggs for breakfast
Salad for lunch
Sea bass and fennel for dinner

Stitchosaurus · 25/03/2018 10:14

0.4 off again this morning - I've now lost 2lbs this week, which I'm happy with. Always wish it could be more but my body loves hanging onto fat!

Have got a family birthday party later so am a bit nervous about that - have logged what I'm planning to eat in MFP...now I just have to stick to it! Start I'm going to remember your pep talk for Sunday if I get tempted! Hope you stayed away from the chocolate Sunday.

Great loss This and your meal plan looks good.

moreofme · 25/03/2018 11:24

Hi, Hope we are all feeing motivated today.
Thank you Lucked we can do it , right!
Catlover its really hard but I will give it a go . it helps that I am off work this week so less tired , mind you house work is exhausting and neverending!
Sunday hope you are feeling better [ flowers]
Run wow thats fantastic!
I’ve started calorie counting again on mfp yesterday and managed to consume 1370 which is not too bad a start and includes 2 ( I know Shock ) belgian chocolate eclairs( following a spat with other half - comfort eating).
So the plan is , hopefully -
Drink more water
Plan meals and snacks
Avoid calorific snacks
Not to have any such snacks available at home
Try to stop comfort eating and deal with upset in a better way
Be more active

Now if only I could put it into action and stick with it! I haven’ t weighed myself yet - want to give it a few days of calorie counting atleast and also scared of the numbers I’ll see.I think the very fact of actually thinking of the calories in each food itself makes a differnce , rather than mindlessly putting stuff into my mouth!
Today is going to be a bit tricky - as I’m making a Wagamama chicken firecracker recipe for dinner ( toned down version) which I love .I will have it with cauliflower rice instead of jasmine rice to try and keep within 1200 calories.

moreofme · 25/03/2018 11:26

I’m so hopeless at the writing in bold and the smiley faces etc ! My apologies !

Littlejayx · 25/03/2018 11:29

Please can I join this thread???

My weight crept on while I was pregnant with my daughter. I was 13st3lb after she was born and I’m 10st2lb ( I’m super proud of myself tbh) now but need to shift the extra wobbly bits and have lost motivation

Itsgettingbetter · 25/03/2018 11:42

Hello! So glad I found this, can I join you ladies?!

I stopped exercising and cycling to uni during the winter and was eating lots of heavy carbs as comfort during the greyness.

Attending a wedding in August and want to be in shape for that but also just want to feel a bit more confident - I think my belly, arms and face could with a streamlining.

Looking forward to this journey with you all - great to have company.

Itsgettingbetter · 25/03/2018 11:52

Forgot to mention my plans:

Hannah Waterman Body Blitz twice a week
'Yoga for dummies' three times a week
Cycle and walk more often
Avoid bread and eat more fruit

catlover99 · 25/03/2018 13:30

I am still feeling sorry for myself, miserable about feeling quite so ill on this lovely sunny Sunday. DD is playing the drums downstairs, and the beat feels as if it reverberating down my sinuses and out towards my eardrums I do not have the heart to tell her to stop as I have already cancelled a shopping trip out that was promised for today, and DH is away this weekend so he can’t take her.

I have been spending some time googling low-calorie French soup recipes (which do not really exist, it seems, as it would just meaning leaving out the bread and cheese, which sort of defeats the purpose). I think I will wait for a while until I am feeling better and then chose a day when I have lots of exercise planned and then go for the real thing. That should swallow up enough calories for some French onion soup, surely?

Sunday I am wondering whether the chocolate eggs got the better of you! Remember, even if they did it is only a minor and temporary glitch, nothing that cannot be undone, so do not let it get you down.

moreofme housework is awful! I know I am a bit lazy about it, and my dh completely pulls his weight and does his fair share, so there are two of us, and it should not really be that bad. It is just the way it never seems to end that I hate so much. Meal-planning is more fun, and is overall worth it, as you win back the time invested over time. If you have room in your freezer, then cooking lots in batches and freezing portions can really help. I make and freeze batches of things like stews and sauces (and meatballs and burgers and stuff like that which the kids like). Is cauliflower rice OK? I love the smell of rice, especially jasmine rice, and cauliflower is not as appealing Grin.

Thisismy your meal plan looks so tasty. Fennel and sea bass - yum. And eggs are my favourite breakfast.

Hope everybody is having a good weekend.

littletykeboy · 25/03/2018 13:51

I'm doing the same! I'm 10st 7 and best at 9.5 so I'm fasting to try and lose it :)
