Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

I'm in please ! Loads to lose but even half a stone in five weeks would make sooooo happy!

SundayGirls · 20/03/2018 07:56

Hello and welcome to all!

We can do this!

Today I'm 10st 6, so 2lb off which is a miracle given the pizza blip yesterday evening, but it's been a boost, I feel like I've been given a bit of a free go to start again properly Smile and I'm going to, starting with lots of water this morning and stocking up on fruit. I didn't get the early night I should have had but today's written mission is I will have a bath and go to bed early.

Anyone else have a plan for the day's eating/temptation avoiding?

Doilooklikeatourist · 20/03/2018 10:13

Haven’t weighed yet , but I think I’m around 12 stone
Bit stressful at the moment ( I know , that’s no excuse for the brownie and iceceream I ate last night )
Getting today over with ( need to take DS to an eye check up at a hospital 2 hours away ) and will be raring to go tomorrow hopefully

SpringNowPlease2018 · 20/03/2018 10:15

I'll join you. This should be doable.

I have eaten a lot of comfort food over the winter. I've put the breadmaker away now! Grin

Thisismyhappyface · 20/03/2018 10:20

Can i join? Im 10st 13lb- should be 9st 12lb at most :(
It is mostly snacking in work and to much bread and wine.
I'm being sterilised tomorrow, so no exercise for a week or so- really need to curb the food so that i dont put anymore on.
More water, no snacks, try to reduce the carbs with dinner, less wine...

SpringNowPlease2018 · 20/03/2018 11:33

@Thisismyhappyface

snacks are funny aren't they? I mean, I look at how much of the supermarket is dedicated to snacks and frankly I forgive myself for letting my weight get out of hand!

I have a workout at lunchtime - not a problem as i enjoy working out but I have tweaked it so I will be doing harder ones with HIIT instead of just going "ooh let's enjoy a bit of time on the rower" etc.

then I am also planning an early night because I have a day of catered meetings tomorrow - you know the sort - pastries at breakfast, muffins at break, overindulgent lunch, yet more cake to stop people running away at 4pm....

so I need to be awake and alert enough to ignore the cake and not mindlessly eat it because it's there and everyone else is eating it.

I am in, thanks SundayGirls for starting this thread. I was on a similar thread before Christmas and doing really well, and sharing with others really helped, but then everything went wrong: I had an injury, so couldn't do any exercise, and then had massive stress at work, and all of that, along with the usual chaos of life threw me completely, and I lost all momentum, and the weight has crept back up.

The stress at work is ongoing, but I am coping better with it, and looking for a new job as a means of escaping it. I will be going on a weekend away in late May with a bunch of old college friends, and I would love to lose about a stone by then. I can't quite face the scales yet, but I fear it could be creeping up towards 11 st, which is not good! I would like to be under 10 st, ideally about 9 st 8.

I will try to face the scales and then set a realistic target later today or tomorrow. My 'method' is to start going running regularly again, and try to stick to more sensible meals. My downfall tends to be savoury snacks (crackers and cheese is my nemesis), I do not really have a sweet tooth.

Let's do this! XX

SundayGirls · 20/03/2018 14:09

Hello and welcome all! Flowers

Yes indeed we can do this catlover! How is your day going so far? Definitely face the scales tomorrow & don’t be dismayed, whatever they say you weigh less than that the next day or next week!

And hope you’re managing to step away from the cake spring. You can do it!

Also good luck fur your operation this. Hope it all goes well. Do you have someone to help with cooking etc whilst you recover? You could see it as a time to eat up lots if fruit & veg to support your recovery x

cat I'm also in a stressful job, so I sympathise there!

I had crumpets with butter and marmite this morning. Then ran 6 miles burning 970 calories according to my fitbit!

Had some fruit and a NAKD bar afterwards

Planning salad and maybe pasta for dinner then an early night! Made a difference today that it's warmer and sunny here.

Pixiedancing · 20/03/2018 15:35

Can i join too please? - This has to be a whole new start for me. I’ve got to believe in myself that I can do it and get back to some form of body that I am not ashamed of, that I can be proud of. I’m going to calorie count and low carb. I’m going to be hungry and I’m going to be irritable but it’s going to be worth it. I’m going to exercise every day and eat before 7. No eating after 7. I’m going to seriously cut back on alcohol too. My face and body have no shape and I'm embarrassed by myself. I just need to believe in myself. I'm 5'9 and 12st 2. Fingers crossed xx

RunMummyRun68 · 20/03/2018 16:20

You can do do it pixie

Being taller we can think we get away with more. I'm 5ft 11 and 13:13. Nobody thinks I'm fat

But I can only lose a stone otherwise I look too thin ( got to 12 stone on the divorce diet)
Which is still a size 12/14 for me

SundayGirls · 20/03/2018 16:22

Hello Pixie - of course! You can definitely get back to where you want to be. Personally I find it's focus, planning and willpower (unfortunately) Smile

Is there a special occasion or event you might like to have as a goal in mind? Some people find it useful to work towards an achievable goal to a certain date rather than open-ended.

I find it useful to have a daily mission (or missive) written down at the start. One of my downfalls is late evening snacking. I start the day well and get progressively more like snacking as the evening goes on. If I'm up late it can finish horrendously with raiding the cupboards and ruining all the effort of the day in one go. So today for example, my written mission is to have a bath tonight and go to bed early. I really need the sleep too so that would be good!

OMG run 900 calories burned, that's amazing! Star I love crumpets too. I'm not a low-carb person, quite the opposite Smile Sometimes I'll have a crumpets for a light dinner as they are not high in calories. It was lovely and warm here too today, so much better than the freezing cold!

Also hello to Doilook and Notproud! Hope you DS's appointment went well today, Doilook.

Pixie, at 5ft 9, 12st 2lb, you aren't overweight?

SpringNowPlease2018 · 20/03/2018 16:39

I've done my workout. Really enjoyed it. Will probably feel it tomorrow though!

RunMummyRun68 · 20/03/2018 17:07

spring I kind of enjoy the sore muscles the next day! I'm feeling it now though

Notproudofthisone · 20/03/2018 17:19

Definitely something I need to remember!

Spring I wprk in an environment where people bring lots of treats in, I find it so hard to pass on them...

Thanks Sunday. DH does most cooking anyway, amd have put requests in for veggie goodness. Need to avoid the hot buttered toast hole that i often fall into when under the weather though!

Thisismyhappyface · 20/03/2018 20:14

Sorry for typos Blush

catlover99 · 20/03/2018 21:40

SundayGirl I promise to get on the scales tomorrow morning! I am trying to console myself with the idea that the more I weigh, the easier it will be proportionately to lose the first few poundsSmile. My day was OK in fact, and I have been thinking about my weak points and what I could do about them. So breakfast is a problem because everything is a rush in the morning with getting ready and feeding cats and competing for the bathroom with two teenagers, and I do not feel that hungry first thing anyway and therefore tend to skip it, which is not good as I then feel really hungry in the late afternoon, and snack on bread and cheese and stuff like that when I get home. So I am going to try to eat breakfast more often and then not snack but instead have an early dinner with the kids.

RunMummy I am impressed with your running. I have been running on and off for years, but I am bit out of it the moment but trying to get back in as I have a 10k coming up in a few months. I actually started running in order to deal with stress at work, and found I really loved it.

So my targets for tomorrow are: eat breakfast (boiled egg on rye bread), and try to go for a run in the evening. Oh, and weigh myself without getting depressed Grin.

catlover99 · 20/03/2018 21:47

Pixie a friend of mine lost loads of weight from not eating after 7 in the evening, it sounds like a really good plan (assuming you eat sensibly the rest of the time too).

LittleDoritt · 20/03/2018 21:53

I'm in. I have loads to lose so a mini 5 week goal is just the ticket. I'll weigh in the morning to get my start weight.

nocrispsnocrackers · 20/03/2018 22:46

I haven't eaten since dinner at 5.30 so I'm going to bed now to avoid temptation. Dieting is boring.
