Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

Pythoneare you me? I have been known to save leftover Dominos pizza for breakfast- I just one it so much Blush! No more ...the saying you've mentioned is apt Wink. 8.5 lbs loss is really great ..not to be scoffed at! If you have managed to lose that, you can lose the few more that you want to, I'm sure.
Mrsjoshdunn that is impressive and I will try and remember that every little helps ..a lb a week or whatever loss I can manage.
I don't think that I would've managed to stick with this for even the last few weeks if I hadn't been on this thread.

Ruggles, r00t and Narkle you are all so right about feeling healthier and heading in the right direction even if it feels very slow many times.

I’m in!

Can I join? I have 24 days to lose as much weight as possible. I'm 10st 12, how much do you think I could lose? Have started the day with porridge, ham and Avo salad for lunch, turkey and veg for dinner and a Pilates class after work. My method is to cut carbs as much as possible.

Bobbiepin · 30/04/2018 10:23

Hi @puffycat & @twinkledag!

So weighed in this morning and I'm down 3lbs. I just dont understand it! Not the best week food or exercise wise, compared to the last week when I was so strict and lost 1lb. No complaining though. Porridge for breakfast then chicken & quinoa salad for lunch. Lots of soup this week too, and as much exercise as I can fit in. Have a good week everyone.

twinkledag · 30/04/2018 12:09

Well done @bobbie :)

cheshiremama89 · 30/04/2018 16:44

@twinkledag you could lose a stone probably!

twinkledag · 30/04/2018 16:59

Wow, really?! Send me all your tips! A stone would be fantastic!

Ruggles · 30/04/2018 17:04

Welcome newbies - this is a really nice thread for chat and support. @twinkledag, you could def loose a stone if you really went for it. What's the occassion?

@bobbiepin - well done on 3lb, you keep heading in the right direction and some weeks are just tougher than others. I seem to loose nothing for days and then have a bit of improvement, before staying put again. For me, it doesn't just correlate to movement and food.. Not sure why...

I'm down 3lb this week, so now 8lb in total. I still have 15 to go. I am going to add in some more exercise this week, although I've hurt my wrist and it's raining, so Monday hasn't got off to a great start. Hmm Hmm. Once I"ve posted this I'm going to get up off my butt and do a brisk walk before getting on with food etc.

I read this Chinese proverb this week and thought of our little group!

"be not afraid of taking tiny steps, be afraid of standing still"

I need to make my weekends more like my weekdays - I sort of stuck to my 800 calories, but blew it on Sat with 4 digestives (!!) and some wine... Sunday was back on track but still 100 calories over target. I know it doesn't sound much, but I was a bit annoyed with myself. I can't get out of this weekend / I've been good / I deserve a treat mode.

twinkledag · 30/04/2018 19:58

@Ruggles - I want to get back into a dress for an event I'm going to! That's my motivation. But I still don't believe I can lose a stone in that time?! How?!

cheshiremama89 · 01/05/2018 01:26

@twinkledag

One egg scrambled mixed with lots of egg whites (I buy a carton of Two Chicks every week)

Serve with protein and veg of choice, I.e. Smoked salmon, ham, bacon medallions

Beans, tomato, mushroom

I tend to microwave eggs so no oil at all but where oil would typically be used, fry light is you friend

Lunch tends to be chicken and veg soup.
The BEST I've found is the Daylsford chicken bone broth with ginger

I would then graze on lean protein if needed

Finally dinner something like salmon/chicken skewers in a low sugar sauce/marinade such as ginger and soy on a big colourful salad

And WATER WATER WATER

that of course would be a dream day, I can never resist cereal for breakfast most days
And tend to go for a sweet treat mid afternoon
I do make sure this is fruit, a muller light or Fibre One bar

Alpineflowers · 01/05/2018 09:13

I'm in.
I don't have any weighing scales, but have two pairs of ankle length 'ciggarette' style pants that I am determined to get back into for the summer. I put on about a stone over the winter. I am stopping drinking and attempting to completly cut out any refined sugar from my diet

Pythone · 01/05/2018 14:28

Welcome to the new people!

I've been doing really badly the last couple of days - I think it's because although I've lost a few pounds, I can't tell from my clothes OR measurements. I measure myself every Monday, and apart from a couple of cm around my waist, all of the measurements are basically the same! It makes me feel really unmotivated. How much do you need to lose before it starts to make a difference?

Ruggles · 01/05/2018 15:38

@twinkledag - I'm doing the online Blood Sugar Diet and you eat 800 calories a day for 12 weeks - lots of people have lost a lot already. In the first two weeks I've lost 8lb. Then nothing has happened for a week (which is a little frustrating), but judging from what others have said, the scales will move again. Someone upthread suggested hanging your dress up where you can see it - I've been doing this and it's v motivating!!

@Cheshiremama89 - I love your plan!

@Pythone - hang in there - it will come.... I really do think that weight comes off in fits and starts and you've just got to keep on. There will be times when it's really easy and then times when it takes a bit longer. I think you have to keep doing what you know is right, and trust that the weight will go... Have you got a specific plan or are you cutting back? I realised that my cutting back was more of a slight trim and that I needed more of a plan. I had no idea how many calories were in stuff...

R00tat00tt00t · 01/05/2018 19:07

Pythone - it could be that some of your weight loss is visceral fat (fat around your vital organs, within the abdomen) so you can't "see" the difference iyswim. This type of fat increases your risk of some health conditions so losing it is going to benefit your health as well as your shape. Keep going and I'm sure you'll keep shrinking 😉 Maybe some abdominal exercises to tighten up the muscles would help speed the process up?

twinkledag · 01/05/2018 20:27

Thanks for the welcome and the tips!

Today was ok I think? Porridge for breakfast then walked 20 minutes to town with DS. Skinny flat white and DS's leftover ham baguette (not great).

Then walked home and made Thai green curry - light coconut milk and used chicken stock to make it less creamy. A small bowl of that around 5pm then a small bowl of chilli con carne just now for dinner - made with extra lean mince and tinned tomatoes and spices.

It's always harder when I'm off work!

moreofme · 04/05/2018 23:09

Hi everyone.. how's you all doing? The thread's gone a bit quite ..probably coz of BH weekend.
I'm now down to a total loss of 4.2 kgs in 5 weeks .That's about 9.25 pounds according to Google! I don't feel it though,in the fit of my clothes or anything .Been checking my weight first thing in the morning. It is very slow coming off but I can't say I've been sticking to the 1200 cals very strictly.I know if I deprive myself too much, I will end up with cravings and binge eat something really unhealthy.
Have a lovely BH weekend all!The weather 's going to be great .

moreofme · 04/05/2018 23:10

How are you , not how's !

cheshiremama89 · 05/05/2018 02:30

I'm doing well, half a stone off in 2 weeks.
A lot of meals out planned, hoping to just maintain and not gain x

Pythone · 05/05/2018 09:56

Thanks for the encouragement! Since I made my last post I've been putting more effort in again - down another half a pound! Soon I should be at -10lb, so I'm hoping I will start seeing results then.

@Ruggles - yes, I've changed my diet a lot - lots more protein, less starchy carbs - and I log it all on MFP. The number on the scale is coming down fairly consistently, but I still look exactly the same!

@R00tat00tt00t - that's good to know about the visceral fat! I'm doing the 30 Day Shred and I definitely FEEL fitter, but I definitely don't look it...

twinkledag · 05/05/2018 09:58

I'm 3lbs down from Monday! Smile

MrsJoshDun · 05/05/2018 21:03

Have lost 1kg this week.

But sadly scales say I’ve lost 3kg of muscle and put on 2kg of fat for an overall loss of 1kg.

I’m hoping the fat/muscle thing isn’t overly accurate as I can’t believe I’ve lost 3kg of muscle in a week. Done a pump class and a free weights session this past week as well as normal cardio stuff.
