Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

air felt 'so' clean not 'to' sorry.

cheshiremama89 · 24/04/2018 05:09

@R00tat00tt00t yes! Although it is my first week and so I was expecting a decent loss. Will no doubt slow down now to 1/2lbs a week x

Bobbiepin · 24/04/2018 05:19

Thanks @R00tat00tt00t, I guess it's ok to plateau for a bit. I'm not regaining so that's a positive.

@pythone those milestone lbs are the toughest to shift aren't they? I almost feel like if I can get this lb off to make half a stone it'll all carry on.

I had an average day yesterday, lots of coffee which unfortunately means lots of sugar. Hopefully not done too much damage.

Pythone · 24/04/2018 12:41

YES

FINALLY

I have now lost half a stone! It's funny how the first 6lb seemed to take no time, but the last pound took over a fortnight!

@Bobbiepin - yes, I totally agree! It's like a hurdle that we need to get over before it can continue smoothly again!

Bobbiepin · 24/04/2018 13:25

@pythone I'm in exactly the same place, now down to 8lbs off!! That's 2lbs since yesterday. I have NO idea how its happened but I'm half a stone gone and happy. Well done on reaching 1/2 a stone Grin

halfwitpicker · 24/04/2018 14:34

Can I join?

I'm similar to a lot of folks on here, want to get down to 9.5 stone. I weigh around 10 stone at the moment, really got the incentive to shift the last bit with the weather being nice.

Plan is to seriously cut the carbs, up the salad and as the weather is finally decent, cycle 3 x per week, an hour each time. Breakfast will be eggs, lunch soup and a protein, dinner will be BBQ meat and more salad. Dull but effective. Cottage cheese, boiled eggs, veg sticks as snacks. No alcohol.

This is all easier said than done however as my mother arrives for 2 weeks this week and will be cooking and drinking up a storm! Hmm

halfwitpicker · 24/04/2018 14:35

Congrats bobbie and pythone

Mrsjoshdun · 24/04/2018 14:40

Well done Bobbie and Pythone.

I'm so off my food at the minute it's untrue. Have eaten a bit of quinoa with pepper and chicken today and that's it.

Will have to force myself to eat in a bit as am off to bodypump and can't be fainting.

Bobbiepin · 24/04/2018 15:17

What's up @mrsjoshdun? Are you not well?

MNscum · 24/04/2018 15:23

💔

Mrsjoshdun · 24/04/2018 15:24

Sorry. That was me. Nc fail.

buddahsitter · 24/04/2018 16:26

Started today and I am on track for 1200 calories a day so feeling good .

SundayGirls · 24/04/2018 16:44

Hello all! 👋 I’m still here, been for a lovely few days away in the country with patchy WiFi so I’ve not been able to log on! I am off for birthday long weekend so got loads of planning and packing for that too now - phew!

I made it to my 9st 13lb but almost immediately put 2lb back on Grin but I did see those figures on the scales so I hit my target! (If only for a day...)

When I get back from my next jolly I’ll be back on it properly. Summertime is calling, eek!

Hope you are all doing well! When I’m travelling I’m going to read back through the thread for a good catch up! Smilex

@Bobbiepin - yayyy, well done!!!

Welcome to @halfwitpicker and @buddahsitter!

Tonight I am resisting pizza even though it is 2-for-1 Tuesday...

Bobbiepin · 26/04/2018 15:16

So I've had a couple of off days, there's been cake and chocolate and all sorts of un-mentionable things but I'm back to it. Made the choice to have unhealthy dinner (basa fillet, no skin with broccoli, green benas, tomato and spinach) rather than making a big deal out of tomorrow. Had porridge for breakfast and finally sat down to some soup for lunch.

How is everyone else getting on? @sundaygirls you've done amazingly, do you see the difference as well as on the scales?
Well done on avoiding the pizza @pythone, I love a good dominos!

cheshiremama89 · 26/04/2018 18:18

@SundayGirls literally me!
I made it to 9 13 and now back up to bang on ten!

I'm weighing myself daily atm which I think may be counterproductive.

I want to get to 8st 7 so a long way to go!

I have lunch out tomorrow and Saturday and a family roast on Sunday so that could seriously throw me off track

Pythone · 26/04/2018 18:36

Hi @cheshiremama89 - we have exactly the same goal, and I started at 10 stone! I haven't weighed myself today as I was so pleased it had finally gone down that I don't want to know if it's gone back up!

@Bobbiepin - me too! Even worse, I have to walk past Dominos to get to the shop to buy healthy stuff instead...

Ruggles · 26/04/2018 19:49

Hi everyone - haven't posted for a few days, but have been keeping an eye. Hello to all the newcomers, this is such a lovely thread.

Great to see the good news and esp for Sunday, I am so delighted that you made it to your goal!!! What an achievement and I hope you have a fab time celebrating - happy, happy birthday. FlowersCakeWineStarFlowersCakeWineStar. Thank you so much for starting this thread, it inspired me to get off my (rather large bottom) and make a plan to loose 23lb!! That's no mean achievement. Wink. Please tell us all about your celebrations when you get back.

I have lost 8lb and starting to feel as if I am thin - which I'm not, but it's very motivating. Going to watch Britains Fat Fight tonight - a friend watched it yesterday and said it was very motivating.

To those whose scales haven't moved, do keep going and do remember that

  1. we all fluctuate a lot on a daily basis, so don't loose heart.
  2. at least you're not gaining Grin
  3. you may be building muscle
  4. there are so many other upsides to being on a diet - I feel so much better about my weight and body - just by starting to do something. Making a weekly menu and doing one big shop is liberating - I hadn't realised how much time I was spending on thinking about what to eat, when and whether I could sneak in a 'treat'

Keep on, keeping on. Ruggles xxx

Bobbiepin · 26/04/2018 22:14

@pythone that's tough, you have my sympathy. What did you end up having?

@cheshiremama can you load up on the veg for the roast and pass on the more fattening bits? Might help a little.

@ruggles well done, 8lbs is amazing! You'll have to remind me about the fat fight. I could do with some renewed motivation.

Narkle · 27/04/2018 04:15

Hi everyone,

Finally able to find the motivation to re-join this, partially because I've just secured a new job for September with much better working conditions and so don't feel the need to comfort-eat anymore, partially, because the kids in my current school keep insisting I'm pregnant, so I have to do something! Blush

I haven't stopped exercising throughout all this - my morning bike ride is what keeps me sane - but I finally feel able to control my vices again - sugar, alcohol, portion sizes. Maybe you can only really focus on one goal at a time.

Well done, Ruggles, 8lb is an amazing loss!

moreofme · 28/04/2018 23:04

Hi all I’m still here too, lurking - not had a great week in terms of the calorie counting.Averaging about 1500 to 1600 calories the last many days.In total, in the last 4 weeks since joining the thread I have lost 3 kgs , but that was all probably within the first 2 weeks when I mostly managed to stay within 1200 cals. No further loss and struggling with motivation at the moment !
[Sunday] well done for reaching your goal! Hope you have a lovely Birthday Flowers Cake Wine!
[Ruggles] that’s brilliant! And thanks for the encouraging words .I’m trying to remember that atleast I’m not gaining and just need to get back in the zone. My problem is that I’m getting bored with the same healthier choices and not finding nice / palatable alternatives.I have a bit of a savoury tooth but will eat puddings also Blush
[Pythone] I gave into the pizza yesterday Blush
Hi to the newcomers !

R00tat00tt00t · 29/04/2018 08:35

Morning all! Weekly weigh in time! I'm down a measly pound this week but 3lbs since joining in and 7.5lbs since December. Making very slow progress but it's all the right direction. My first goal for the start of summer (June) was to get down to ~ 59kg which is still 4lb away so I'd better get my bum in gear if I'm going to reach that. If I can keep losing a pound a week I should get there but will really need to put the work in.
Positives: I'm more aware of what I'm eating and haven't been snacking on sugary/high fat treats. I've been eating more wholesome foods and drinking more water and even if my weight doesn't shift I'm being healthier overall.
Goals for the week ahead:
Move more - try to go for walk on less active days and try an exercise dvd.
No/very low carb dinner on days off.
Stay motivated - this is where you all help loads Smile
Will check in later to hear everyone else's news.

Mrsjoshdun · 29/04/2018 08:53

Weighed myself and I’ve now lost 1.5 stones since I started trying to lose some which was sometime mid Jan I think. So 3 months approx. It’s been slow coming off but for me I think I needed a moderately easily achievable goal or I would have given up.

I put a photo of myself on FB yesterday and had a lot of comments from people who haven’t seen me since xmas time saying they can’t believe the difference.

So it’s true that the 1lb a week type weight loss will add up and be worth it. So don’t ever be disheartened by small losses or even a static week....of which I’ve had a few!

Still want to lose another stone. But I feel better.

Pythone · 29/04/2018 09:10

@moreofme I also had pizza yesterday! But I got rid of the leftovers rather than keeping them for breakfast like I usually do, so that's something. I saw a great quote about wasting food, which was "Would you rather it was wasted in the bin, or on your arse?" Obviously not advocating being massively wasteful, but I find it helpful for leftovers/finishing the plate!

I have now lost 8.5lb! 12.5 to go...

@Mrsjoshdun That's fantastic, well done!

Bobbiepin · 29/04/2018 12:53

You're all doing so well. @r00t that's so achievable, 4lbs in a month you can smash. Stay motivated and definitely look to @mrsjoshdun. I need to keep the slow and steady in mind.

Had a very poor day yesterday, 2 30th parties so lots of cake followed by cocktails and a greasy kebab shop burger (which was so not worth it). Thankfully I'm not hungover and bingeing on carbs today like I normally would but I need to reign it in a bit for the next week.
