Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

@glitterbiscuits ooo a blonde? Do you love it? Feeling better already? I find I already feel better as soon as I know I'm doing something about it.

FitBitFanClub · 03/03/2018 11:21

Muppetonastring, What do you mean, you hate slimming groups and all they stand for?

I'm curious as I heard a colleague saying something similar recently, but he couldn't justify his opinion beyond saying that they're profit-making. I don't see a problem with that, personally.

MUPPETONASTRING · 03/03/2018 14:55

It isn't just that they're profit making though, I agree that they don't really care if you lose weight as long as they're getting their £££ every week. For me it's also the fact that the leaders are not qualified in nutrition and are still spouting the 'low fat' myth-they don't base their diets on scientific research or evidence.

sar302 · 03/03/2018 22:08

Hi all, can I join in please?

12 weeks post partum and weighing in at 14 stone 13 I believe. Just before giving birth I was somewhere up near 18 stone Blush thankfully, delivering a 9 lb 7oz baby and all the other gubbins meant I lost a chunk of weight immediately after birth. The rest is now just fat however! (Was already overweight when we conceived.)

Trying to get to a healthy BMI, which at 5"4 for me is around 10 stone. Haven't been that weight for years. So the best part of 5 stone to go.

Recently started the 16:8 fasting method and seems to be having positive results, although not if I spend the 8hrs eating chocolate Hmm

cheesemumma · 04/03/2018 15:39

How did everyone's weekend go? How are you feeling about tomorrow's weigh in? I'm hoping for 3 or more but I dont want to be disappointed and give up if it's less!

BackAwayFatty · 04/03/2018 15:53

Joining in! Need some motivation. I lost 3 stone last year & have just hit a slump. Put about 1 stone back on since Xmas & need to get back on track. Also been eating food in intolerant too which makes me very tired so need to get back to being strict. Sitting at about 15st this morning. Will weigh in tomorrow.

Xenadog · 04/03/2018 16:07

I have found my tribe! I’d like to join you all. I realistically need to lose 5 stone but 3 stone would be a good thing for me to aim for and then allow me to review progress.

I’m 44 and I honestly think my issues are: I have a 4 yo and both my DP and I work full time so there’s very little time for anything other than getting through the day. We cook from scratch a lot and my evenings and a lot of the weekend are taken up with marking and planning as I’m a teacher. I used to have a dog but since she died I get very little exercise. Having another dog isn’t an option with how busy we are now.

I know sugar, chocolate, caffeine and wheat really are bad for me and I have cut them out for 18 months before and lost weight but I find I crave them a lot. Once I’ve gone cold turkey I’m fine but falling off the wagon means they are all I want. Actually sugar makes my heart race and eating wheat and sugar leaves me with a feeling like a hangover so they are best avoided yet I still eat them.

Just writing this down makes me feel a bit mad with myself. If I know these types of foods are so bad to me why do I allow myself to give into cravings? I know I could also fit 10mins of exercise into everyday (not much but it’s a start) if I made the effort but the evenings are so busy and I’m just shattered.

For anyone interested in how the diet/slimming industry makes you fat follow Rebelfit on Facebook (Instagram too maybe?). He has loads of great research which tells you why the diet clubs should be avoided.

yippeekiyay2 · 04/03/2018 16:36

Hi all- I would like to join please! Smile I need to lose about 6-7 stone to be healthy BMI. Haven’t weighed myself yet as prefer to try and do that when no one else around(not often in my house!) I am late thirties and have one dd9yo who has ASD and one 18month old. Me and dh both Work full time and it’s fair to say diet and health run a very low priority for us adults atm Sad I am exhausted most days and have been increasingly relying on sugar and carb highs to try and get through the day. I simply can’t follow a diet club anymore, too many fails over the years, so for me weight loss hypnosis cd and thinking to get mfp to help see what I am actually consuming as I have realised I am prone to binge eating particularly after work. I need to start eating healthier snacks and also making more meals from scratch. Planning family holiday next summer and my sisters wedding is next may so some longer term goals there. Good luck to everyone.

cheesemumma · 04/03/2018 16:46

Good luck ladies. We'll just have to try and motivate each other through the good and bad times and see where we end up at Xmas!!

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 04/03/2018 17:41

I need to focus, and actually do the things I'm supposed to (and not the things I'm not supposed to - wine, crisps, chocolate, Wetherspoons chicken strips Blush). I've lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks, and as I'm officially doing a VLCD, that really isn't good enough Sad.

I need to stop buying the crap, then I won't eat it. I need to remember why I want to lose the weight (because I look dreadful, I can't reach my toenails to paint them remove the varnish DD put on at Christmas, so that I don't get out of breath going up the stairs, so that I'm not in as much pain, so that I can have a choice of clothes and clothes shops to look in). And I need to think about why I sabotage myself EVERY SINGLE BLOODY TIME. And just drink the bloody water, it's not that difficult. Sigh.

Hidingtonothing · 04/03/2018 17:56

I'm hoping for the same cheesemumma but not feeling confident (see Friday's kfc fail Blush), we shall see! Otherwise I've pretty much stuck to what I'd intended, smaller portions, more veggies, healthier food choices and being more active.

Took DD sledging yesterday so lots of tramping up hills and definitely less sitting still in general which was the aim. I actually feel pretty good, quite positive (not like me!) and at peace with the idea I may not have lost anything this week but I'm moving in the right direction and next week will be better. Hope everyone else is getting on ok, see you all tomorrow for weigh in Smile

glitterbiscuits · 04/03/2018 20:30

I made a Cauliflower and chickpea curry. I got a bit carried away with poppadums though.

Just 1 pound a week would be 3 stones gone by Christmas.

I’m so fed up at the thought of elasticated trousers again tomorrow.

I had a full English breakfast today and finished off all the chocolate that was lying around the house - you know, to make sure there was none around for a positive start on Monday.Confused

On the plus side have decided my pelvic floor has toned back up enough to add some Pilates to my kegels and walking. Actually quite looking forward to that tomorrow!

DonaldTrumpsTrump · 05/03/2018 02:20

Hi everyone

I'd like to join please!! I have 6 stone to lose and am a typical yo yo dieter, I can't seem to stay away from chocolate and bread! I work full time and have two kids so I'm quite busy although I enjoy cooking so I'm hoping to find some time to be able to meal plan and do some lovely healthy meals.

I am starting today and I know my current weight is 16 stone so I'll do my first official weigh in next Monday. Good luck everyone!

I've come to recommend the Paul McKenna I can make you think app.
It teaches you how to enjoy food properly and really helped me to lose weight and keep it off.

cheesemumma · 05/03/2018 07:04

Good luck @middleagedmuggle. You can do this. This time in 42 weeks it will be Xmas Eve.

Thanks I'm pretty chuffed with that!

Murinae · 05/03/2018 07:50

Can I join? I’m 16 stone 9 and 5’6” and throughly fed up with being this weight! I have managed twice to loose three stone, once WW and once Cambridge diet but have put it all and more back in each time. I’m now on permanent indigestion tablets and have a heart condition so really need to loose weight. I joined WW again after the Xmas before last and never went to a meeting or did the app really. So that was a complete waste of money for a few months till I was honest with myself and cancelled it.
This time I have decided to do like Glitter and just try and eat healthier and cut out all the crap. I eat bags of sweets in the car on the way to and from work and have them hidden in my desk at work and carry on eating sweets and crap when I get home before having a meal. I really have to stop. My wardrobes are stuffed full of clothes I can’t fit into anymore and I am now having to buy a size 22.

Pob13 · 05/03/2018 09:08

Be nice, Im feeling very vulnerable. Weighed in at a whopping 21 stone 11. How did this happen. Am thoroughly miserable now.

sar302 · 05/03/2018 09:10

Current weight: 14 stone 13

No loss, but no gain either. Pleased with that after spending the week sitting on the couch, hiding from the snow, and eating chocolate!

Hoping for a loss next Monday.

Good luck everyone!

Murinae · 05/03/2018 09:37

I have just updated MyFitnessPal and last time I logged in I was 14 stone 11. How did I now get to 16 stone 9??? None of my colleagues seem to weigh any more than when I started here 7 years ago. It’s only me that has put on so much weight.
Anyway enough moaning I will now update and USE my fitness pal and hopefully start to shift some of it.

cheesemumma · 05/03/2018 09:41

@pob13 we all have to start somewhere. Last February I was 20st 6lb. So not far off what you are now so I know the struggle. Just bite the bullet and start- it's the hardest bit. As soon as you feel like you're doing something about it the self loathing starts to subside lol!!! You can do it.
