Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Todays challenges:

  1. Stick to Slimming World, try under 10 syns
  2. Drink at least 2 litres water
  3. Get at least 5 portions fruit/veg
  4. Do yoga dvd

I already do the school run twice a day in the week, which is about 3000 steps a time, but need to really get my arse to the gym 3x per week. I pay an extortionate amount to be a member of David Lloyd and I have been precisely twice this month Hmm

JennyOnAPlate · 26/02/2018 11:42

I hear you on the gym thing improbablegirl. I haven't been for over two weeks and only went once a week for the two weeks before that Blush

cheesemumma · 26/02/2018 11:52

Just got T25 from a friend so going to try that after DD goes on bed tonight.

TheImprobableGirl · 26/02/2018 12:20

I find that I really enjoy the gym once i'm there too - get into a good tv programme and can do a decent run/walk but it's the motivation to get out of the house during my only child free time (dd1 is at primary and dd2 attends pre-school from 9-12)

Twotabbycats · 26/02/2018 12:23

Can I join you? A five stone loss would take me into the healthy range. Was shocked to see it is the top of the healthy range Blush

I am 15 stone 2 and 5 foot 3 and would love to get to 10 stone. I lost a stone last year but have regained nearly half of it. I have new scales that added a kilo from somewhere as well! I’m finding it hard to get back into it.

My problem is snacking - if I just ate the meals I dish up now I would definitely lose weight! If I can’t sleep I even get out of bed to snack!

My health is terrible - I have arthritis and a back problem, a tendon injury that won’t heal, high blood pressure (medicated), am prediabetic and have high cholesterol. So I really need to do this. You’d think that would be enough motivation!

I am counting calories with MFP. Trying to aim for a stone at a time so it’s not too scary!

Mooey89 · 26/02/2018 12:47

Please can I join?
I’m back at slimming world tonight, so haven’t weighed yet but I know I’m around 5-6 stone from healthy BMI.
I’m getting married in September and would like 3-4 off by then, 5 by Christmas.

I already go to the gym 5 times per week and love it, but I’m not losing because I binge eat constantly so never get a calorie deficit Blush

cheesemumma · 26/02/2018 15:08

Day 1/333 done!!!

GreyandGrumpy48 · 26/02/2018 16:28

Can I join too? I’m 5 foot 1 and about 12 stone 6 so I need to lost about 4-5 stone. I’ve been anaemia gir the last few months and have completely stopped doing any exercise because i’m so exhausted all the time. I want to cut out the snacks and start doing some gentle exercise.

glitterbiscuits · 26/02/2018 20:52

I got through day one. I’m full now so not going to eat again today.

Currently soaking my feet as part of the new me regime!

Did anyone else eat well today?

Hello all in a similar situation on blood pressure tablets, feeling old, heavy and slow. 50 this year and keen to improve health generally

Megs4x3 · 26/02/2018 21:45

Is there room for another one? I'm 64, 5' 0" and need to lose about 60lbs. I'm generally healthy but I went to donate blood today and wasn't allowed to because I'm slightly anaemic. I need to get healthier. Lack of exercise is part of the issue I think but I don't want to join a gym. Does anyone find walking beneficial?

glitterbiscuits · 26/02/2018 22:34

All welcome! I’d be happy to coordinate a regular weigh in day if everyone wants that?

I think we should also check in and confirm we have stuck to the principle of which ever diet we think is best for us.

I just want to improve my general well-being to start.

OP posts:
cheesemumma · 27/02/2018 02:37

I think a regular weigh in is a good idea. I think weight loss motivates, as well as knowing you're accountable for that massive piece of cake I'm about to shove in my gob.

Onto day 2!!

Shiraznowplease · 27/02/2018 03:20

I need to join. I have 5 stone to lose too and a big family holiday with lots of skinny Minnie relatives coming up. I owe it to myself not to feel so crap and unhealthy. Am going to concentrate on just diet until I feel better and will then start to exercise even if it’s just walking the children to school

MrsDilber · 27/02/2018 03:23

I agree that it's helpful to set small goals, like half a stone by Easter than look at the big, scary number.

I need to lose 5 stone, but if I could just do a couple at first, I'd be happy.

Good luck folks!

whatstheplanphil · 27/02/2018 03:34

glitterbiscuits · 27/02/2018 07:43

How does Monday sound as a weigh in day?

OP posts:
Shiraznowplease · 27/02/2018 10:05

Glad you said Monday glitter biscuits as got up today and had an Easter egg for breakfast as no bread or milk in the house (after I fed the dc) 🙊What does everyone find the most effective/easy to follow? Did think low carb not not a huge egg fan

glitterbiscuits · 27/02/2018 10:20

What size Easter Egg @Shiraznowplease ? That’s your treat for the day. No more now!

My problem would be if I did this the rest of the day would be ruined and I’d eat. New me will just start again there and then. Diets don’t have to start in the morning. Or in a new week.

My focus is portion control and no snacks. Or less snacks. More fruit etc. I’m going to cut back on carbs so one slice of toast instead of four!

I want to lose weight but much more than that I want my body to feel better. I’m tired and stiff. Dry skin. Blood pressure too high.

It needs to stop.

It was one of the ones tesco have one offer.... was going to just have small pack of mini eggs then one half shell then before I know it the whole thing had gone 🙈 Thanks @glitterbiscuits you really said what I needed. Only just read it but will have soup for dinner.

Shiraznowplease · 27/02/2018 13:07

Hope I can help you out if you need it @glitterbiscuits

TheImprobableGirl · 27/02/2018 13:10

Monday works well for me, I've stuck to it well today, but used up all my syns which is disappointing so early on. Plus I accidentally ate half a sausage (really was an accident!) and picked the cheese of a cheese topped loaf.

Didn't manage to get to the gym as DD2 couldn't go to preschool but she's on the mend so I'll throw her in tomorrow Grin

Feeling good about things at the moment.
Put the easter eggs down! Its meant to be lent Grin

Pob13 · 27/02/2018 13:26

Jumping aboard please. Very excited to find a weight loss thread that isnt "help me lose 5lbs to get into my size 0 jeans"
If Im honest I probably need to lose 8-9 stone, but will take it a stone at a time. I love chocolate and lack will power. Im doomed! But Im also desperate to get pregnant and I know I need to kick my arse into shape.

glitterbiscuits · 27/02/2018 13:47

@Pob13 That’s what I thought. People saying I weigh 12 stones please help me. I haven’t weighed that little in 20 years!

For me, I’d be delighted if that’s what I weighed.

2lbs a week would be 3 stones gone by the end of July. So those of us with children the end of the school holidays would be a good medium term goal.

Ok, so Monday morning I will list current weight if anyone owns up and weight lost that week.

Meanwhile no waiting until Monday - start now!

mama2005 · 27/02/2018 14:36

Monday weigh in sounds great - thank you! My starting weight - 15st 3lbs. I will be keeping an eye on portion size, lowering carbs, and keeping wine and chocolate as treats. Feeling positive!
