I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

This is turning into a brilliant thread, I think you may have found your calling glitter, keeping us in line Grin

Just wanted to chip in with another "it can be done" story - last summer I weighed over 17 stone. I'm tall but my BMI was well into obese category and I always had been obese, never exercised and liked bread and cakes and chocolate too much as well as just eating too much full stop. I started making "healthier choices", snacking on things like carrot sticks and air popped popcorn, having soup as a meal rather than soup and THEN a meal Grin. Generally eating less crap, but allowing myself treats now and then like a mini box of smarties or one chocolate, rather than a whole bar. I also joined the leisure centre gym and majorly upped my activity levels, gradually as I got fitter started C25K etc. I run now, for fun, it's unreal I would ever say that Shock. I'm the best part of 4 stone lighter, in the top of healthy BMI. I'm a different person completely. And I'd have scoffed and rolled my eyes to be told that could all happen. But if you choose to, you can make it happen. Good luck all.

PassTheCherryBrandy · 27/02/2018 16:28

Hi all, can I join? This is good timing, am about 5 stones over my ideal weight. And need to lose it (again - lost 4.5 stones a couple of years ago but put it all back on again and then some🙄). Felt very cross with myself for doing that but hey at least I know I can do it rightSad? Really miss feeling fitter and lighter, now have dreadful plantar fasciitis and can hardly walk sometimes so exercise is proper hard now. Went out on bike last week for 5 mins and felt like a horse had kicked me up the arse for next few days. Sigh. Anyway have booked cholesterol test this week and plan on joining SW this Saturday. Am up for a Monday accountability weigh in!!

Mooey89 · 27/02/2018 18:16

I went back to SW last night.

So far today I’ve had melon, carrot sticks, spaghetti hoops on whole meal bread.

For dinner I’m having Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages with sweet potato mash and broccoli.
I’ve got some mikado (0.5 syns each) as a treat later.

I’m desperate for 4 stone by the time I get married in september.
💪

Hidingtonothing · 27/02/2018 19:34

I've done ok today (so far at least), cereal and fruit for breakfast, no lunch (got up really late because I couldn't sleep last night so there wasn't time frankly Blush) and minestrone soup (63kcals!) and wholemeal bread with just a whisper of butter instead of the usual 1/2 inch thick layer Grin One cup of tea (with sugar but am slowly reducing amount so I don't notice the change) and loads of water.

Just need to avoid late night snacking if I can't sleep again now and I'll call today a win. Did my starting weight this morning and I'm 12 stone 10lbs (and 5'1") so need to lose about 4 stone to get to a healthy BMI.

glitterbiscuits · 27/02/2018 21:13

Ok, I confess. I had a small piece of cheesecake after dinner.

However, I would frequently have gone back for seconds so I’m not being too cross with myself.

The rest of the day was good. I’m eating fruit for snacks.

cheesemumma · 28/02/2018 03:19

Morning! I did ok yesterday. I had to have a couple of bananas extra yesterday as I was hungry. However, like you say @glitterbiscuits I think the trick being able to have a small piece of something but then not going 'ah fuck it I've blown the whole thing now, may aswell eat more and for the rest of the week and then start again next Monday'.

I need to tell myself it's a new way of eating. If I eat a bit extra that's fine. But then straight back into healthy eating.

Cauliflowersqueeze · 28/02/2018 03:36

I love the pp mentioning belonging to a gym and not going.

I worked out I had had a £400 swim once!! I could have flown to Spain, had a swim there and flown back for less!

glitterbiscuits · 28/02/2018 08:02

Morning all.

I’m also a member of a gym I never go to! I work stupidly long hours to afford things like gym membership but then never have time to go.

Stay focused today everyone.

I’m wearing elasticated soft trousers today. It’s becoming a uniform. I hate them! I feel so frumpy!

Can I join please? I really need to lose at least six stones, but I am prepared to take it slowly, so three by the end of the Summer would be great.

The only thing which has ever worked for me is low carb so I am starting that again today, loosely based around the blood sugar diet, but also trying to 16:8.

I prefer to cook from scratch so am trying to put the emphasis on preparing food which is enjoyable but gives me the best nutrition possible as I find if I am working to include, rather than exclude stuff, I don't feel so deprived.

I like veg so want to eat a lot more of those and cut out bread/pasta/pastries/cakes. Just had scrambled eggs, chilli and kale for breakfast. Darn, could have added some chopped onion to that, now I think about it...work in progress.

Aridane · 28/02/2018 09:33

I have a 5 stone target weight loss. Lost 2 stone last year, aim to lose 3 stone this year. I am now down from 'obese' BMI to 'overweight'

forgottenchildhood · 28/02/2018 16:40

Can I join?

I'm 13 stone and 5.9 in height. To be on the healthy end of a BMI for me I need to lose around 4 stone. I feel like no matter what I do I can't lose weight! I started running about a month ago but had to stop because my ankle started to swell and become sore. ( I broke it 5 years ago) and the nurse said she thinks it's because I went from doing nothing to running without following a programme so I'm hoping for the swelling to go down and then follow the couch to 5k. I feel really demotivated! Does anyone know what scale is the best because I've been using the weight watchers one that shows body mass index, body fat and a that but every week I weigh myself and it says I've lost nothing even when I've stuck to a strict diet ( I just my fitness pal app to record my calories) and I never go over! How Can I get motivation back because I feel like there are no signs of me losing weight....
Also I've just turned 30 and I know it's harder to lose the older you get but I'm having no progress!

Steamcloud · 28/02/2018 16:43

I'd love to join if I may please.

I have at least 3 stone to lose.

What is everyone doing? Setting themselves interim goals such as one stone at a time?

glitterbiscuits · 28/02/2018 19:31

@Steamcloud - you may be a bit to thin to join in Wink

All welcome. Determination is the entry criteria ( or should that be criterion?)

I had a good day. I finished work 2 hours early because of the weather. Made pizza and oven chips for the family dinner. I had some of each but also had loads of salad!

Steamcloud · 28/02/2018 19:43

Ohhh sorry Glitter biscuits! (It's been a while since anyone called me too thin btw!! Grin). Being a numpty, I interpreted thread title as your own personal goal; not general joining criteria ifysim! Blush. I am determined to do it this time though (have failed three times previously). Wishing everyone on here huge success!! Smile

glitterbiscuits · 28/02/2018 19:45

No, @Steamcloud of course you can join in. Grin

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 28/02/2018 19:46

Although you will probably be at target before Christmas

Steamcloud · 28/02/2018 19:49

Phew! Thanks Glitterbiscuits! I am going for slow sustainable approach this time, so we'll see, but being in Belgium I am surrounded by aforesaid Belgian buns... .

Steamcloud · 28/02/2018 19:50

Also, my DH is a feeder...

But enough of the excuses ...

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 28/02/2018 19:58

Can I join? I've got 3 (although 4 would be better) stone to lose, and really hate myself at the moment, as I just can't seem to get motivated to shift it.

I used to be great at dieting, 2lbs a week easy. But since I hit 40 I ballooned and it does not want to shift! I start off well then get fed up that I'm not lising, and blow the whole thing to hell SadSad.

I honestly don't think I eat all that much, but the scales say different. I think I must be one of those secret eaters that doesn't even know I'm doing it.Blush

cheesemumma · 01/03/2018 07:25

Hi all how's it going?

We made it halfway through the week. I'm doing ok, not perfect and struggling today but need to stay determined. I've bought myself a dress in a 16 for my brother's wedding for end of may. Determined to fit in it. I would like to go to one event and feel good about myself. I've also set my next weight goal as 14st 13lb. I know that's still heavy but I cannot remember last time I was in 14 stone I think it was when I was around 13/14 so nearly 20 years ago now!

It would be an achievement and help to continue to motivate.

@Aridane I know the feeling of achievement of getting out of the obese range haha!!

glitterbiscuits · 01/03/2018 09:09

I’m doing ok, I’m hoping slow and steady will win the race.

My first goal is to see a 15 on the scales. Maybe by Easter? I’m basing this on a start of 17stones 2 and the fact that the first week should be a larger loss.

I’m also keeping up with my face cream and vitamins.

OP posts:
cheesemumma · 01/03/2018 14:39

@glitterbiscuits definable seems a realistic goal. Come on we can do this.

I've been ok today. Hoping I can make it through the evening without snacking.

I've been doing the same, trying to make sure I moisturise etc a well. Again- it would be nice to feel good about myself for once, not to feel like the frumpy fat one!

mama2005 · 01/03/2018 14:58

I am doing okay too - making more thoughtful choices about food. Also trying to look after myself more generally, always put myself at the bottom of the list of priorities!

glitterbiscuits · 01/03/2018 19:01

Anyone else with a midweek update?
