Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Ruby I looked for the BS book but my library didn't have it. The BS diet has a website and it seems to be another low carb/good fat diet (like the others)
I tend to find that kind of things suits me (I really need to break my sugar addiction) so have decided to go my own way doing something like that and if I can't stick to it on my own then probably do a Body Coach plan.
Need to delete loads of stuff off my phone now so theres enough space for the MFP app!

How's everyone else doing?

RubySlippers77 · 28/07/2018 23:34

Thanks BookThief! I had a look and it promises not only weight loss but more energy - DP could really do with it - he can't do a whole day with the DC at the moment, he gets incredibly grumpy tired out and has to nap and/ or go to bed early. I wish I could but then who would actually look after them and do all the cooking/ cleaning/ tidying etc?! Angry

Soooo hungry this evening, missed dinner as DTS1 was overtired and wouldn't calm down, about to indulge in some toast and marmalade.....

RubySlippers77 · 30/07/2018 22:33

Did anyone weigh in today?

Opheliasgoldenwine · 30/07/2018 22:43

I fell way off the wagon and got ran over by it today Sad

glitterbiscuits · 31/07/2018 08:23

I'm alive!
Oh what a nightmare few weeks. I had cystitis from HELL. 2 lots of antibiotics but no infection just a manically inflamed bladder. It's much calmer now.

I'm glad to see some new people here. Hello!

The diet was the last thing on my mind, and as has been the case for my entire life, I slipped back to comfort eating. I haven't weighed yet but I can see I have gained. I'm off on holidays on Friday so I will weigh before I go. I don't think I will gain while I'm away as there will be no opportunities for mindless eating which is an awful habit. I don't control food properly.

It's also surprising how quickly my skin slipped back to dryness as I'd stopped trying.
So here I go again. Tuesday is as good a day as any.
It's only now I'm feeling better that I realise how awful I was.

So,what is everyone up to? I'm at work. Working until 7.

Hiya, I’m struggling exercise wise and lost my mojo. Food wise I’m on track and I was 14st 2lb at my weekend weigh in. My aim was 14st by this weekend but who knows.

RubySlippers77 · 01/08/2018 23:56

Good to see you back glitter! How are you feeling now, all recovered? We go on hols on Sundays and I'm just aiming for damage limitation really, there won't be much choice in what to eat, but if I can keep on the go all the time with the DC then hopefully that will help.

How are you getting on now fezzes, have you found your mojo again? If you find a spare one could you send it to me?!

I've been struggling for the past few days as I'm just so tired. The DC are utterly relentless at this age (almost 3) - lots of energy, want constant attention etc..... plus no preschool to give me a break Sad I'd really like to start running/ gym again but no idea when I could do it, even finding 10 minutes to go on MN is hard. Will have to see what hours DP is doing when we go back from hols and go from there...

glitterbiscuits · 02/08/2018 13:08

Hi Ruby yes I feel back to normal as of yesterday. The bladder pain was awful. I tried loads of stuff and ended up,buying painkillers from the USA that are aimed at bladder pain but aren't available here. Whether they did they trick or whether it would have gone anyway I don't know

Fez I'm still not in the mood for exercising but I will probably clock up a few miles walking when I'm away. I wish I could summon up your usual dedication it does make a positive difference to mood, doesn't it?

Diet wise I'm not even trying. I will see how the holiday goes and get back on track when at home. I've got a September wedding to attend. The away again in October but somewhere cold, so I can hide in layers.

I hope everyone is making better food, choices than me!

Yes I now worked out that exercise is key to my mojo!

I haven’t exercised for a week and a half and last night I went to Clubercise. As soon as I started I remembered that I actually enjoy doing a physical activity so will be back on the DVDs today once the kids are out.

I’m now actually thinking about doing Couch to 5K which I’ve always said is NOT my thing. But I need to do something while I’m not able to do the DVDs as much. Also as fun as the Clubbercise is a big problem for me is that my focus goes from just move for the whole time to stopping and trying to get the moves right. So rather than doing 60 minutes exercise I’m only doing 45 minutes and I can’t use my weights.

Anyway so I’m thinking at least this summer is good for experimenting with the exercise so maybe going forward School time DVDs and holidays running/exercise class.

It’s hard when I feel as if I’ve got a mental block in as in being resigned to the fact it’s summer holidays so get that over first and then get back on track. But like I said last night gave me a boast!

RubySlippers77 · 02/08/2018 14:17

I really, really miss exercise fezzes. The gym saved me when I was going through a divorce many years ago, made loads of friends through classes too. I loathed exercise at school though and was put off it for years afterwards - enforced hockey, netball etc and never being picked for teams -

Glitter, I was doing ok with the food choices until I took the DTs to a toddler event this morning and had to leave halfway through with DTS1 a screaming, red faced manic child Sad he just can't seem to cope with excitement like that. I was so sad and stressed and shovelled in a chocolate truffle mouse from Sainsburys (which was very nice, but that's not the point!). Planning on attending my last WW meeting before hols tomorrow, but that might be dependent on what the scales say in the morning!

glitterbiscuits · 09/08/2018 09:47

Found some WiFi! How is everyone? My bladder condition has flared up so I'm having a quiet day.

I still have 10days until we get home but I'm ready to go home now.
I'm not dieting but my food choices are reasonable as no access to my fridge! I'm walking lots too.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Hope you're feeling better now glitter?

We're on hols too, home tomorrow. Mainly eating stodge due to small children having very little patience for eating full stop! DP hurt his ankle whilst drunk just before we went so has spent a lot of the time moaning about that and generally being even less energetic than usual...

Going to weigh in on our return and then make a real effort for the 20 weeks remaining till 2019. I do struggle to have enough energy for the DC and hope that weighing less would help! Also am determined to do something about my terrible saggy stomach Confused

RubySlippers77 · 10/08/2018 08:05

PS have you been able to start exercising as you planned, or has being ill got in the way?

mama2005 · 10/08/2018 09:21

Morning all! Glitter hope your illness is settling down and you have been able to enjoy your holiday - Ruby that sounds like a very good plan, I need a fresh start too...I have frankly been struggling, hit a weight loss plateau, have had family visiting and lots of lovely meals out, and now seem to be putting on and losing the same 4 lbs. Have a (relatively) quiet week coming up, so determined to get back on track.

RubySlippers77 · 11/08/2018 23:11

How is your planning going mama? We are still in post-holiday catch up state, I'm ordering a big online shop to arrive Monday. Tried supermarket shopping with the DC today, gave up after three aisles....

Struggling here too, a week off (even for holiday!) has taken its toll. I think I'd got used to sensible meal choices, limited snacking etc and have just over-indulged. Plus with young DC I never get to finish meals - at home I can reheat and pick again later - on the move I then have to grab another snack!

DP still driving me mad, moaning and groaning that he's hurt his toe/ ankle/ random other body part and therefore can't possibly move unless it's to do something that HE wants to. I do think his weight is becoming a real problem now; when I met him he was a big guy but loads of energy, never let it stop him. Now he has more joint pains, gets exhausted after a day out with the DC and simply can't keep up. No idea how to help though as all my diet suggestions are shot down in flames the minute I mention that less/ no alcohol would be a good idea Confused

Sorry10 · 11/08/2018 23:18

Ok healthy eating is great but also exercise is extremely important
Try parkrun it’s free
Bmf I’m passionate about this it’s great fun any you will loose weight. You will not keep the weight off if you do slimming world without exercise whatever they say . Good luck.

notdaddycool · 12/08/2018 07:55

Has anyone tried parkrun. Lots of people mainly walk it with the odd little jog and progress bit by bit. It’s 9am every Saturday so you have to do it then. It’s free, all you need to do is register and print the barcode. Gyms never worked for me and it’s been a big part of me losing a couple of stone.

notdaddycool · 12/08/2018 07:58

Started reading first few pages and thought parkrun, didn’t actually read the last few pages until I’d posted and it was parkrun too. Can’t overstate how brilliant it is. Free so much cheaper than a gym membership and great community. Apparently average finish time drops each year as less and less super fit people do it and more and more normal people do.

RubySlippers77 · 12/08/2018 11:58

I'd love to try Parkrun but you can only take kids of 4 and over and mine are 2! Or I think you can take little DC in a running buggy but mine won't sit in a buggy for that long now. I did look at my local group - hopefully in a year or so we'll be able to go along!

Sorry, I'd love to go back to BMF but literally have no childcare - MIL starts chemo soon and will be out of action for months, DP has hurt his back and can't/ won't look after them on his own. Again once my DC are a bit older and easier to look after, I'd definitely return!

RubySlippers77 · 12/08/2018 19:35

Are you still following the blood sugar diet Mind? If so how are you finding it? I need to start menu planning for this week. Depends what DP has decided to eat/ not eat though Angry

mama2005 · 14/08/2018 08:08

Still trying to get on top of things Ruby - but keeping positive! Hope week is going well for you.

RubySlippers77 · 14/08/2018 14:15

Bit of a relapse here mama Sad felt really rough yesterday, back to post-viral symptoms with a vengeance, had to have a good couple of hours lying down on the sofa (toddler nap time, thank goodness!). Today was better but the effort of taking the DC out and then coping with a DTS1 tantrum has left me tired and shaky. Am taking my vitamins religiously again now, hopefully will be back on the right track soon! How is your quiet week going?

mama2005 · 15/08/2018 09:31

Sorry to hear that Ruby - hope you feel better soon. Am enjoying my "quiet" week (although with 3 dc and puppy, it's all relative)...!!

RubySlippers77 · 15/08/2018 14:35

Wow, you have a puppy mama, that must keep you busy on its own!! DP is keen to get one (he grew up with dogs) but I think it would be better in a year or two when the DC can appreciate it more (and help with the walking!). Must be very cute though Grin

I'm still not feeling great, trying to take it easy, but toddlers are a bit unforgiving in that respect!

RubySlippers77 · 18/08/2018 23:08

How is everyone doing? I finally have a bit more energy (been taking my vitamins a lot!), which is just as well as DP is aiming for some sort of moaning and faffing around medal.....
