I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

How is everyone today?

Made the DC cheese sandwiches for lunch - lovely soft fluffy white bread, yummy cheese, plenty of butter - they hardly ate any. I'm now trying to avoid scoffing them all!

Think the DCs are both getting a cold, lots of coughs and snot here. I'm popping my multivitamins again to (hopefully!) avoid the bugs. Can't cope with sniffles, summer holidays and an exceptionally lazy DP...

fezzesarecool · 18/07/2018 13:49

Hiya I’m very nervous as I’m trying out Clubercise tonight! 😮 Exercising in public, but at least it’s in the dark!

Determined to get to a mini target this weekend, fingers crossed

RubySlippers77 · 18/07/2018 23:46

Clubercise sounds such fun fezzes! Good luck with your mini target!!

glitterbiscuits · 19/07/2018 07:03

I'm giving up on this week. My bladder feels like it's on fire so I can't concentrate. I found myself comfort eating and eating mindlessly.
Back soon
Hope everyone else has a better week than me.

Mind if I join in?

I'm 5'2 and weigh 14.5 stone.

RubySlippers77 · 19/07/2018 12:55

Fair enough glitter - sending you get well wishes! Have you tried drinking lemon barley water? I used to get lots of urine/ kidney infections and drank litres of it. More effective than plain water in helping with the 'burning', apparently!

Half a pound off for me at WW. Again! At this rate it'll be a race between getting to goal and getting my pension...

Hi balls! Are you following a specific weight loss plan (WW/ Slimming World etc) or your own plan? We have people on here doing all sorts Smile

RubySlippers77 · 19/07/2018 22:13

I was talking to DP earlier about his steps - he was saying he's only doing on average 6 - 8K per day at the moment as he doesn't have to walk far at work - I said that I'm averaging 20K per day because of all the walks I take the DC on. His reply? "Yes but you're not losing the weight, are you?" Sad

And this is why I haven't told him I'm going to WW.....

Anyhow, I may have only lost 9lb so far this year but when I consider that I've spent over half of it really poorly, I don't think that's actually bad - my general health is now much better, I've lost 3% body fat and around 2" off all the bits of my body I bothered to measure on Dec 31st. Can't believe I let him and his nasty spiteful comment (given that he's been a dismal failure himself at weight loss) get to me. Grrrr!

fezzesarecool · 21/07/2018 15:45

RubySlippers77 I did it! Hit 199lns today so I’m in Onederland! 😄

Sorry to hear about your oh’s comments, very nasty. Flowers

fezzesarecool · 21/07/2018 20:35

Help! Going on the Hen and haven’t got a clue what to wear. It’s a booze cruise on the Thames so although it’s smart causal probably better to dress up.

Problems are I haven’t wore a dress/skirt for about 5 years.

Is this skirt ok? Or too much? I was thinking with a white top Dont know if it makes any difference but I’m mid 30’s so last time I got dressed up and was a good size was early 2000’s!

I went to a shopping centre yesterday and at size 20 too big for most places.

Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

Update, booked in with Debenhams personal shopper

RubySlippers77 · 21/07/2018 23:33

Firstly, well done Fezzes on your weight loss!! 👏

I couldn't tell you about the outfit as frankly I never go anywhere, but the personal shopper is a great idea - really helped a friend of mine, she hit 40 and was getting divorced, her kids are now teenagers and she wanted an idea of a good 'look' for a new stage in her life.

If you have time before your day out, have a look at the Scarlett & Jo website, good clothes for curvy ladies. You could order things and send them back if you don't like them?

DP has been much better today. Subdued by his hangover I think. Serves him right! He also admitted that he'd put on 6lb over the past couple of weeks just from drinking too much Shock

fezzesarecool · 22/07/2018 08:41

RubySlippers77 At least there was a reason for the comment. I went out last week and worked out a vodka and Diet Coke has the same calories as a cocktail sausage roll! So that was a easy swap! Grin

I’m just frustrated at the moment as my clothes are too big but I can’t fit into shop brands just yet. The Hen and wedding will mean seeing people I haven’t seen since last year so it would have been nice to get a wow moment but hey ho.

mama2005 · 22/07/2018 10:47

Hello! Fezzes well done to you. Ruby, you are doing so well- hard to keep going with unhelpful comments, but you can do it! Glitter, hope this week is better for you. I am not going to weigh in this week either - have had a very difficult week for various reasons, but will be back, promise!

RubySlippers77 · 22/07/2018 22:37

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time mama - we are here whenever you feel ready to return!

DP was out for the count an hour ago, he is so unfit, I know that at his weight (21 stone ish) he probably won't be as energetic as he could be, but it would help if he didn't drink beer so often! He can't just have one, it has to be a few. If he gets tired he'll scoff some cake or a Snickers bar or something and then wonder why he's not losing weight when he's 'active'.....

AF arrived yesterday. I am permanently starving Sad did resist a brownie stall in town earlier but am now eyeing up the toast and marmalade!

RubySlippers77 · 23/07/2018 15:42

BTW I weighed in this morning and have STS since last week. It's TOTM for me so probably to be expected, plus I can't make WW anyway on Thursday as it's DS1's hearing test. I did scoff a big bag of Maltesers earlier too as I felt very rough Blush

RubySlippers77 · 27/07/2018 00:23

How is everyone doing in the heat?!

mama2005 · 27/07/2018 08:30

Hi there Ruby - I am literally melting, just no good in the heat...I just love it when the temperature drops in the evenings when I can take my puppy out finally! How are you getting on?

MindBodyChocolate · 27/07/2018 09:49

Just posted this in the 100lbs to lose thread....

Hi all. After my disappointment last Friday morning (half pound loss) I had to go see the nurse (not weight related). While there I mentioned I was trying to lose weight but finding it hard going.

Well. This prompted the biggest kick up the arse I’ve had in a long time. She told me at my age, my size and with a parent with diabetes I was a sitting duck to become diabetic as well. She basically told me I didn’t have any options now - I lose weight or I’ll get ill. She did it ina really good way though - kind of matter of fact but kind too.

Anyway, the upshot is that she agreed low carb was probably a good option for me and told me to read Michael Mosley. I’d actually already read his Fast Diet and the Blood Sugar diet but ignored both.

So this week I’ve been giving the blood sugar diet a go - and have lost 6 pounds. In a week. Very very pleased. And feeling really good in myself.

I’m off on hols for a couple of weeks now but self catering in France so will be carrying it on. Will post when I’m back smile

Starting weight: 18.13
Current weight: 17.8
Goal: 11.13
Lost: 1.5
To go: 5.9

mama2005 · 27/07/2018 10:15

Mind - that is fantastic! Well done. My. Kick up the bum came from my slim 7 year old,

mama2005 · 27/07/2018 10:17

Eek pressed too soon! My 7 year old presuming that he will have a big tummy etc when he is older, because Mummy and Daddy do - and worse than that, worrying about it.

MindBodyChocolate · 27/07/2018 10:22

Yes, sometimes you need to be told straight :( I’m feeling more hopeful now though if hitting target so it’s working!!

Opheliasgoldenwine · 27/07/2018 10:36

I've not been active on this thread, so I feel like I'm jumping in, I hope that's okay. I'm not actually following a set diet as such, just eating less and moving more, and I lost 8lb in the first 10 days.

Weigh in at beginning: 12st 5lb
Weight now: 11st 11lb
Height: 5"7

I was wondering though, what's actually better for you; normal mayo or mayo light?

TheBookThief · 27/07/2018 10:45

I know I am a horribly late starter but can I join you please?
I have 5 stone (preferably 6) to lose and now feel in the right place to give it (another!!) go.

I am working my way through the Beck Diet Solution book on the recommendation of a friend and need to choose which diet to do, but I don't know.

I feel better when I cut carbs but I don't eat meat so it tends to make it egg heavy, expensive (prawns and fish) and restrictive. And I ended up eating smoked trout and green beans for breakfast in the end to curb the egg monotony and that just felt weird, plus I am trying to cut the fish I eat too now.

I can't believe I can't even decide which diet to do Blush

Can anyone recommend me something suitable for a veggie, preferably without any point/calorie counting.

I did wonder about the new Body Coach veggie plan but I feel so exhausted at the moment all I can do is walk and I don't think I would do the HIIT sessions.

I know this sounds like I am making a million excuses, I'm not really Wink I am definitely going to overhaul my eating/relationship with food but thought it would be easier to ask what people feel is really working for them and is stickable to.

cheesemumma · 27/07/2018 19:07

Hi guys,

I'm back in the gane. Have got my motivation back after a shit couple of months. Not going to go through the excuses. But I'm back on it.

RubySlippers77 · 27/07/2018 23:21

Well done Mind, you sound very positive!! I've reserved the Blood Sugar book at my local library but it's not available for a few weeks - sounds interesting though as DP is on the verge of being diabetic (his mum and brother both have type 2 and he is very overweight). Could you tell me the basic premise behind it - is it cutting (bad) carbs/ lower GI food/ cutting out sugar?

BookThief, you could just try logging everything on MFP? I haven't tried it myself but other people love it - it shows you the breakdown of what you eat in terms of nutrients, as well as simply calories. You can adjust it for exercise etc as well.

Hello again cheesemumma

I am melting too mama, can't believe I didn't lose more weight before this heatwave, I bet Kate Moss isn't as flipping hot as me!!
