Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

I wish the same. May next summer we could have another heatwave to see if it feels different?

I weighed this morning and I'm the same weight. I have been so damned good all week. Really, really good! So, now I'm fed up. I wonder if it's the heat? Or if this is how little I should normally eat to maintain?
I've been swimming once and had a couple of 2 mile walks. Seems unfair.

I also think it will rain every day during my holidays next month as we will have used up the UKs quota for sunny days.

I bet you wish you hadn't asked now!
At least I have the weekend off!

Good idea glitter, I'll definitely be thin by then Smile

Like you I find it soooo disappointing when I try hard and lose bugger all. That week I put on 4lb completely unexpectedly... ShockShock my eating hasn't been the best over the past couple of days - we've had workmen in and I can't always get to the kitchen, but I'm walking lots (in this heat!!) which hopefully will help.

mama2005 · 08/07/2018 08:07

Yes, it's so frustrating when that happens glitter - I sometimes find I get a kind of delayed weight gain after something like a big event etc. And this hot weather does not help anything! Have had a few rubbish days food wise, so trying to focus on the big picture before I weigh in tomorrow- ie am losing overall...Ruby glad WW is working for you - I have found those kind of groups really helpful in the past. Sounds like you are kept v active too.

RubySlippers77 · 08/07/2018 11:14

WW is helpful at the moment thank you mama - I think mainly because my leader/ coach is lovely - I've been to groups before which were rather underwhelming!

Has anyone tried the MuTu system? I bought membership a few months ago but haven't got round to starting Blush must do something about my Father Christmas-style tum though...

mama2005 · 08/07/2018 14:13

I know what you mean Ruby - so dependent on the group leader. I haven't heard of MuTu - shall check it out.

TigerTooth · 08/07/2018 22:16

17st 2lbs - 5'4. size 20.
Shins filling out straight leg jeans.
Depressed - hate myself for being so weak.
love love love sugar and carbs - not into big portions at all but love the wrong stuff esp biscuits.
Any advice on which diet to try?

mama2005 · 09/07/2018 10:45

Well glitter, must be something in the water - I haven't shifted anything this week either (but then again, haven't put anything on). Onwards and upwards...

glitterbiscuits · 09/07/2018 10:52

I'm up 3lbs! This is because I weighed and there was no change on Friday so I had the weekend off.
Stupid thing to do but if I wouldn't be so fat if I had a better relationship with food. I need to see regular losses to keep me going.
My holiday is in just over 3 weeks. I wanted another one stone off.
I'm blaming the heat this time.

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 09/07/2018 10:55

@TigerTooth You are welcome to join in. There are 24 weeks until Christmas so plenty of potential to lose a substantial amount by then
I'm not following a diet because I have to organise family meals and all the cooking in so I'm just trying not to snack and making better choices. It hasn't always worked but the trend is down.

mama2005 · 09/07/2018 11:04

Ah glitter, I always find weekends hard anyway! And am definitely finding the weather gets in the way of sensible meal planning, cooking - and frankly doing anything.

mama2005 · 09/07/2018 11:07

And welcome tiger - I am calorie counting via My Fitness Pal, not a diet as such, but just cutting back, generally.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 09/07/2018 11:51

Hello can I join in? I need to lose between 3 and 4 stone by Christmas and want to get fitter at the same time. I just about manage my 10000 steps each day but I couldn't run to save my life. At some point I'll try c25K but I think I'm better off not starting everything all at once.

I'm a terrible comfort eater and it's been worse since I cut right back on beer and wine calories. Some inspiration from this thread would be great.

glitterbiscuits · 09/07/2018 12:23

Hi @thinkofablinkingnamewoman
I just posed a thread in Exercise about working on my fitness.
You be welcome to join, it's a slog at times but needs to be done .

Hi everyone, including any newcomers! Lots of support here Smile

I'll join your other thread too glitter, coincidentally I went for a run this morning!! It was very slow, there was lots of walking involved but still.....!

I'm down 0.5lb since Thursday. Hoping to double that by this Thursday's WW meeting.....

MindBodyChocolate · 09/07/2018 21:03

Hello! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been doing ok and am a total of 13lb down now. 3 weeks til summer hols and very keen to get another 7lbs by then. Tough but doable.

Then onwards to Xmas!

RubySlippers77 · 09/07/2018 23:20

Well done Mind!! 4 weeks till my hols. I'd love to lose 7lbs - I'm 12st 7lb now and it would be great to be under 12st - but even 1lb per week keeps me motivated Smile

fezzesarecool · 10/07/2018 17:33

glitterbiscuits Just saying hi again and a big well done (and to everyone else)

Do want is going to work for you and your lifestyle. Everyone is lovely, supportive and understanding on this thread?

fezzesarecool · 10/07/2018 17:34

Lol sorry about the question mark!

MindBodyChocolate · 11/07/2018 11:58

Wow, Ruby, good going!! 12 stone is my extremely challenging target. Only 6 stone to go (better than the 6 stone 13 lbs it used to be).

I have reluctantly come to the view that low sugar and starch is the best diet for me. I’ve now gone 11 days with no bread or pasta when (no kidding) I’d get through half a big loaf a day plus other carbs on top.

Avoiding the bread is still not completely automatic but I am getting there. And I can’t get over how great my skin is. Probably the clearest it’s been in years.

RubySlippers77 · 11/07/2018 15:18

I've had to give up the bread too Mind. I love it though Sad but it does seem to bloat me. I definitely have more energy but sometimes would give it all up for a Nutella sandwich on white bloomer bread.....

12 stone is still too heavy for me, depressingly - even if I lose 2 stone I'll still be at the top of the 'correct' weight range for my height! I have high blood pressure and will get told off at my next appointment for my weight. Pah.

Trying to get better at meal planning but just don't have the time to sit down and devote even 20 minutes to it. DS2 didn't nap at all today so it's been very unproductive. Currently waiting for my online shop to arrive when at last I should have some more healthy options to eat!

MindBodyChocolate · 12/07/2018 09:46

Haha, white bloomer and white sourdough are my downfalls. Slowly reprogramming myself though to remember the - ahem - after effects rather than the few seconds spent actually eating it. It is working - but it’s like an addiction!!

glitterbiscuits · 12/07/2018 09:54

@fezzesarecool Welcome! And thanks for the support on the exercise thread I started. (Wish I hadn't now)
How are you doing?

OP posts:
fezzesarecool · 12/07/2018 10:55

Great thanks! I’m on the 100lbs to lose thread but a frequent lurker on here.

Sorry I had to say something, you guys are amazing and this is a bloody hard and long journey. It’s a shame that it wasn’t that supportive Flowers

BigFatBloomers · 12/07/2018 11:33

Can you do a link to the exercise thread glitter?

I’m back to 14.9 so I think that’s back to being 1st off since I started but not back to my lowest a few weeks ago. I really think exercise is now the missing key.

We’re off on holiday in 3 weeks. It would be brilliant to be down to 14st by then.

BigFatBloomers · 12/07/2018 11:40

I just checked back and I joined you all on 16.4 at 15.9 so it’s taken 3 months to lose a stone. I’m going to have to speed up a bit!
