Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

That’s amazing, CaitSith SmileSmile

RubySlippers77 · 28/06/2018 11:58

Great job Cait! I love my Fitbit and find it very motivating Smile

3lb off for me this week at WW!! Woo hoo! I might even have won SOTW but couldn't stay for the meeting to find out. Gives me a bit to live up to next week though!

BigFatBloomers · 28/06/2018 12:12

Well done Ruby and we’ll done everyone else. I’ve been avoiding the thread as I seem to have had a week of self-sabotage. Why do we do that? Eating things that weren’t even particularly tasty.
So 4lbs on and and back up to 14.10. Grr!

I have loads of slightly tired veg in the fridge. I’m going to make a big pot of soup.
I’m really fed up with being this size in this heat. Sad

mama2005 · 28/06/2018 18:41

Well done glitter, ruby and sticker (glad you found us again)! Hello bloomers - back in the saddle and on your way!

mama2005 · 28/06/2018 18:42

And welcome Elle and Cait!

Stickerrocks · 28/06/2018 19:02

Bloomers the weather doesn't help. My first thought when I saw you were making soup was that it's too hot for that. I seem to crave cheese & crackers to pick at outside when I should be munching on fruit. However, mini Twister ice lollies are a summer's friend at only 41 calories each.

glitterbiscuits · 01/07/2018 09:27

I know my weigh in day is Monday but as it's the first of the month it seems like a good place to check in.
I have now lost 2 stones.

I am beginning to see the difference. I would say that at least the first stone was just bloat as I didn't really look or feel any difference but now I think that there is a change.
It's been harder than I thought as I was so determined when I started this thread but I just didn't stay 'in the zone'
I could have been at this point ages ago. Well, years ago

I also added some skin care and that has been very beneficial. Again I've lapsed occasionally but I drag myself back again.

So I will plod on while I can and I'm still in with a chance of my Christmas target.

Who's still in with me?

Firstly a massive well done glitter!! 👏 two stone is a big chunk of what you'd like to lose. I know you said you haven't always stuck to plan but sometimes life gets in the way!

I'm still going, will message more later. DP has been in a foul mood all day for no reason that I can tell, I'm avoiding him as much as humanly possible in a small house with two DC to look after as well....

mama2005 · 01/07/2018 16:20

That's fantastic glitter! I am still going too, will report in with weight tomorrow.

mama2005 · 01/07/2018 16:34

Ruby - hope your day improves!

glitterbiscuits · 01/07/2018 19:28

Ruby my lot are all a bit touchy today too. We planned a barbecue in the garden. DH is possibly the only man in Britain who hates them. We couldn't even find any matches to. Light it but he found a blow torch in the shed! Then when things were cooking I realised the temperature was dropping as he's put about half the amount of charcoal in
I carried everything out to the garden and everything back in again, did all the prep and organised the lot. So, in reality I just made more work for myself.

I have eaten a fair bit more than the last few days but I'm going for a 2 miles walk later.

Looking forward to hearing results tomorrow!

Day 1 of my half yearathon: good on the organisational front (one of my targets!), ok on food, didn't get to start my fitness challenge but did do lots of cleaning (including steam mopping!) to make my fat cry 😂

Food would have been better but by 5.30 I couldn't stand looking at DP's mardy face any longer and took the DC to McDonald's. I had some chips and didn't even eat them all, vast improvement! Glitter, DP fell asleep at 2pm when the DC were napping and refused to get up/ help with them afterwards. No doubt a bbq would have been far too much effort for him...

RubySlippers77 · 02/07/2018 08:03

1.5lb off for me - pleased with that - my body seems to want to hang onto the lard so any downward movement on the scales is a bonus!!

mama2005 · 02/07/2018 09:59

2.5 lbs off for me this week (so got rid of my 1 lb post hols gain). Congrats on your loss Ruby - we're chipping away at it aren't we? I'd love to shed it all quickly, but I know that means putting it all back on again (and then some)!

glitterbiscuits · 02/07/2018 10:01

Every little helps Ruby.
I'm grateful for any loss. I would really like to get a whole stone off in July though, just before I go on holidays.

Have you set any mini goals for the Half Year-athon.?

OP posts:
mama2005 · 02/07/2018 10:12

Good luck with your pre-holiday target glitter - am sure you will do it!

RubySlippers77 · 04/07/2018 00:33

We go on hols on August 5th glitter and I'd love to lose another half stone by then - would take me down to 12st! Fingers crossed - I haven't been strict this week but neither have I pigged out.

Day 3 of my half yearathon and I've met 2 of my 3 targets every day so far. I'm really struggling to carve out any time for a fitness challenge though; wanted to start Shredding again or even just a 10 minute yoga video but I have so little time to myself at the moment. I get maybe 2 hours in the day whilst the DC nap and spend that frantically tidying/ cleaning/ sorting washing/ making any phone calls I need to - then bedtime isn't finishing till 10pm (roll on darker evenings!) by which point I have to finish clearing up the kitchen, putting on dishwasher etc before collapsing into bed. Oh yes, my life is one long whirl of fun...

I've been Shouty Mum today which I'm not happy about Sad but DS2 has been a scratching, biting horror all day. And DP has sprung on me that he's working this weekend too - no break in sight for me!

glitterbiscuits · 04/07/2018 12:52

Good loss from you mama I wish my losses were 2.5. a week. Any top tips?

I discovered today that my bathroom scales show different weights depending on whether they face the door or the window!
I'd just like to wake up thinner and fitter.

RubySlippers77 · 04/07/2018 13:31

Just wondering: do any of you enlist the help of family/ friends in your weight loss quest?

DP & I could really help each other - he needs to lose about 6 stone - but he's constantly 'cheating' on his diet and I couldn't cope with that. If I'm not fairly strict I don't lose anything! Plus he doesn't try to motivate me, just makes snidey comments - I was walking round the bedroom last night staring at my Fitbit and he said "if you didn't eat so much chocolate you wouldn't have to walk so far" - when i told him that actually I was only making up the 200 steps I needed to get to 20K for that day he was like Shock

glitterbiscuits · 04/07/2018 13:46

No, no support here at all. DH is 6 feet tall and 10 stones. He doesn't care or notice what I look like. 'Unconditional love' he calls it. Apathy is what I say. He eats to stay alive and doesn't understand my love of food. He also has no addictive tendencies at all. He has zero sympathy for anyone addicted to anything.
I'm the one that eats all the food so I don't blame him for me being fat but if he was 6 stones overweight I would be concerned about his health. He's not bothered about mine. I don't honk he means it in an uncaring way but more about personal choices and freedom.
It can be very lonely.

RubySlippers77 · 04/07/2018 23:17

I'm not sure what's more annoying glitter, a DP who wants to lose weight themself and won't do anything about it apart from pick and snipe and you, or one who can't empathise at all and comes across as completely unaware of any issues/ ways to help you!!

Made DP do bedtime so I could at least get everything clean and tidy by 10pm rather than starting it at 10pm, then have tackled my unread emails. I remember when my evenings used to be fun :-(

Oh and well done on your 2.5lb loss mama, WW for me again tomorrow, hoping that 1.5lb has stayed away!

RubySlippers77 · 05/07/2018 11:19

1.5lb gone at WW! Only need another 1.5 for my first silver 7. It's a slow process...

The woman weighing in next to me had lost 9lb. In a week Shock

mama2005 · 05/07/2018 16:42

That's great Ruby! Glitter, was a good loss this week, but think that was partly because I had been on a very nice holiday a couple of weeks before, so a bit of it was due to getting back on track. That said, I do feel that I am finally getting somewhere with my weight loss. What is really working for me is a combination of a few things. I am still using My Fitness Pal (logging what I eat and drink), which has really helped me with portion sizes and healthier options. I am not overly accurate with it,can't be bothered with putting in every single ingredient etc, but it does make me stop and think. Also, I have a puppy! Honestly, I like walking and thought I was doing loads, but having to go out twice a day with a very active dog rain or shine, has really upped my fitness. And my other half has got on board (he has a lot of weight to lose too). That does help (hasn't always been on side, I know how hard it is when you are doing it alone). Finally, it so helps me to check in here for inspiration and support!

RubySlippers77 · 06/07/2018 00:19

I couldn't get the hang of MFP mama (it just would NOT sync with my Fitbit!) but other people love it Smile

No need for a puppy here as I have two active DC who also need regular walks (I did 21K today!) but the puppy is probably cuter...

And yes, much easier if your OH is on board too. Mine says he is but is having a beer or two every night, more at the weekends, snacking on buttery toast etc. So not much help!

This has to be the last summer I spend as a fatty. Just absolutely melting and grumpy all the time in this heat Sad

RubySlippers77 · 07/07/2018 10:32

How is everyone doing? I really wish I'd lost a bit more weight before this heatwave...
