Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

Just spent a couple of hours playing outside with dd. That's upped my steps. Now to the soup to warm up.

Well do e to all the Feb losses. I'm only down 3lb for the month, was 5 at one point but it crept back up. Am now wondering when the water retention fit totm starts.

Hairspray your losses have been amazing this month and in total. Plus a few stone of extra baggage shifted who proved you no linger need him. Onwards and upwards.

TVHubbyClaire · 28/02/2018 12:41

Flowers for you hairspray
I do hope you continue keeping things positive and I absolutely believe time will make things better

My weight was 12st 2 1/4 today. i think thats as good as I've been since joining the thread Smile

I can't afford to go up now, have bought a bunch of slimmer fitting clothes and a size down on jeans/trousers.

I think my new target is 11st 10 which would get me out of the overweight BMI category and to be fair would be way beyond my goals when I first hooked up here Hmm

Thank you very much everyone for helping me get this far Smile

February has not been great for me and I'm coming out the other side the same as I went in weight-wise, but at least no gain!

Just had a lovely gym session with a new friend and I have that lovely post-exercise tingly glow and a calm positive state of mind.

I should have some blood test results and more info this week or next and I've made my peace with whatever the outcome even if it shows nothing and I'm back at square one.

The snow is rather beautiful too, it keeps alternating between blizzard and bright sunshine. Smile

Slenderistas Marching into Spring to lose 7lbs?

I haven't really been on the threads of late as I've been having a really hard time and been really miserable and didn't want to bring that onto here so I stayed away.

Will try and buck up for March and maybe the lengthening days will bring about a mood improvement.

QuimReaper · 28/02/2018 13:50

I like the idea of being "on attack" - the only way to ward off the munchies in this weather Grin

Is it possible to keep ones MIL after a breakup?

My friend was with a bloke for about a decade and she got his family in the breakup, she and his sister are best mates and I think their mother prefers her to him, so yes! Especially when he's a waste of space and you're awesome. It's a no-brainer. Wink

QuimReaper · 28/02/2018 13:53

Cor TV that's great, you must've lost over a stone by now?

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2018 14:15

Keeping off the 🍷is going to be the challenge around mine! Never mind the munchies, just got news no school no buses for the rest of the week... I think I’ll lose my reason by the end of the week between kids/house/trying to work. I feel slightly panicked, I have plenty of foodie stuff but I feel like I need more!!!

twinkledag · 28/02/2018 14:17

I've lost 2lbs this month :)

Started the year at 11 3.5 so have lost 5.5lbs in 2 months. It may not be much but it means I am firmly out of the 11s, and I never want to be back in them unless I have another baby :). February also saw me take up running again.

So all in all I am rather pleased :)

March's aim is to get into the low 10s.

IheartCaptainHolt · 28/02/2018 14:19

6lb off for me in February so I'm pleased with that. 3 more lb to get into the next stone bracket so I'd like to be almost comfortably under that by the end of March.

TVHubbyClaire · 28/02/2018 15:06

Thank you Quim, I think I was about 13st 6 when I joined, I think I may have been loathe to reveal the full extent of my "obesity".....Blush. Your coaching and nagging (in the best way) on all things "sweet" related has been very much appreciated Smile

Kikisdeliveries · 28/02/2018 15:31

Loads of great losses this month! Well done Slenderistas!

FreeNiki · 28/02/2018 15:47

I haven't weighed today so I'll have to do it tomorrow morning for February.

Hi people I've not met yet. Niki, I've had a shocking time too over this past year was seriously depressed but got up out of my bed on January 22nd and have managed to keep going so far with some tears and wobbles.

I made peanut butter flapjacks last night as I thought it would be a healthy protein breakfast snack. Don't ever do this people. I poured enough calories to fuel a cavalry into a pan, stuck it together with oats and baked. I left out quite a bit of the sugar from the recipe but they are still sweet as hell. It would be better to eat cake. I'm thinking of leaving them on the front wall for people to take away.

lurkingfromhome · 28/02/2018 16:07

7.2 pounds off this month. Phew, just made the goal! Grin

The same again in March would be lovely but I have two weekends away, Mother's Day, a night out and an afternoon tea all booked in, so I fear the weight loss may slow down a bit ...

Kikisdeliveries · 28/02/2018 16:30

Koko I avoid having crisps and biscuits in the house full stop. If we want them we have to go out and get them so it stops mindless pigging (I am unfortunately very good at mindful pigging but at least it requires effort!)

And if you're hoovering up leftovers then you might need the mantra "I am not a dustbin" and put it in the bin/compost instead.

Kikisdeliveries · 28/02/2018 16:45

Koko It's better for kids not to have that stuff though... I have kids who have packed lunches too but why should I make them eat junk? Yes we do have junk sometimes but it's not a staple part of their daily diet.

Step 1 is definitely switching to stuff you don't want to snack on and an easier switch than changing household culture! Long term it'll help them out to wean them off the crisps and biccies as a daily occurrence.

Proviso to all that, obviously I don't know your situation and I know there are kids who will refuse anything else but if there are no SN issues you should be able to get away with some positive changes for them too.

Kikisdeliveries · 28/02/2018 16:46

I cannot have biscuits in the house for long

Oh tricky if someone else is involved in the shopping! Rarely have that luxury here but I can see it's a double edged sword!

I somehow managed to convince mine that their lack of lunch junk was a positive thing for their health, so much so that they used to feel sorry for their friends who did get that stuff! A rare parenting win.

Oh dear, I've just remembered an incident where DS1 rather disapprovingly noted that we were having more 'treats' than usual during one of my sugar addicted phases. Rod for my own back you might say...

Currently in a sugar addicted phase but I'm not sharing it with them

QuimReaper · 28/02/2018 18:09

lurking bloody well done, that's a fab loss!

TV glad my nagging is part responsible for your loss Grin That's seriously great though, you're coming up for a stone and a half, you must be getting loads of comments.

koko excellent news about your evening grazing having faded into the background, getting on top of a problem area is a real win, and will really serve you well. I think the answer to your question about whether your snacking during the day is caused by restriction is probably "yes and no" - on the one hand being a bit peckish / thinking you've done well and can "afford it" maybe contribute, but on the other hand, you were probably almost as likely to snack when you were eating much more, so it's still a win to have a smaller foundation under the unintended snacks. (If that makes sense.)

It's a bit extreme but I've seen MNers talking about spraying leftovers with something gross or squirting with washing up liquid before they eat them. Maybe go around the kitchen with a bottle of Flash spray and squirt leftovers before you have a chance to eat them?

With regards to the crisps and biscuits etc., is it that you're handling them and sneak one in, or is it that they're in the cupboards calling out to you?

Kiki however dismaying it must have been, you get a total parenting Star for your son coming out with that line Grin

Kikisdeliveries · 28/02/2018 18:55

I was so proud quim
