Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

That’s a brilliant average loss feezles, I’m loving the averages. Poking around Mfp I realised that the Fitbit app is feeding it my weighlosses and it shows the loss in 1 month, so I’m 2.6lb down in the last month. Will check my final figure on Wednesday. Seriously though that’s been a fast month hasn’t it? Very peckish this morning, a left over from my drinkies last night. I must get up and moving...but not yet, there’s tea to drink😉

ponygirlcurtis · 25/02/2018 14:22

Brilliant losses again, lots of positive stuff. Fingers crossed for a much healthier March for you all.

I don't think my Fitbit app will deliver the average weekly loss I had hoped, seems to be focusing on the overall loss since I got it. I don't want to loose that data so as long as I have a loss tomorrow I will take that. I would love to go out for a walk with the boys this afternoon, it's a lovely day, but DS2 hasn't been great so just a quiet one for us I think.

TheCatOfAthenry · 25/02/2018 16:04

Ate a lot of sweeties last night while with friends. Still feel ill. This is new!

Doing week 2 of C25K and can actually do it!

Ofthread · 25/02/2018 16:45

I've weighed in today at 10 stone 7. That's a loss of 0 this month so far. Sigh.

Not2bObvious · 25/02/2018 16:46

C25k is a brilliant plan, glad you’re getting on well with it cat. Lovely sunny day here, not too cold, had a walk & talk with a friend. Relaxing with a cuppa and Greys Anatomy

Not2bObvious · 25/02/2018 16:50

Have you been tracking you averages ofthread? Please don’t lose heart, if you do some trouble shooting there’s probably a good reason (totm, salt retention, general flux) And if none of that isn’t at play, well at least you didn’t gain - you’ve had a maintenance month. Chin up chicky

TheDonald · 25/02/2018 16:55

Oh dear. After a scales victory yesterday and a lovely run in the sun this morning I now seem to be eating ALL the food.

So far today I've had 2 toffee and chocolate hot cross buns plus a slice of lemon drizzle cake. That's on top of my normal porridge and lunch.

I'm not really surprised. I'm always starving when I run for the first time after a couple of weeks. I just hope my weight loss wasn't too much muscle loss.

Not2bObvious · 25/02/2018 17:26

I’d call that a carb refeed TheDonald, you needed to up the cals so job done😉 I know how you feel, I’m starving too, I’ve less than 100 cals left for the day😩 I think I’m going to need to give myself a break and have some extra

Kikisdeliveries · 25/02/2018 19:41

A good loss is always followed by RAVENOUS HUNGER! Not that surprising really but annoying when you're on a good streak.

Today is the first day in 3 weeks I have felt some way back to normal and even did some happy training. I often have a habit of getting over excited and doing too much so I will be mindful of that this week, although given the sub-zero temperatures and various snow warnings in my area forecast this week it shouldn't be too much of a problem tbh.

Tomorrow's veggie lentil soup for lunch is defrosting. I recently invested in a fab soup thermos which means a hot homemade lunch despite lack of microwave at work. I love my thermos.

Hoolahoophop · 25/02/2018 20:20

I'm also ravenous today. Maybe it's the cold. Ive been cuddling new lambs today. Smile maintenance this week, which is a shame. One more week to try to get some off before it all goes belly up and I put everything and more back on in March. Sad

Feezles · 25/02/2018 20:28

Not a great day for me today - curse you, IKEA, and your tasty, tasty meatballs! I think I'm still under a maintenance calorie count for the day, but it was quite hard to be accurate.

But - I'm cutting myself some slack. I've done very well for the last few weeks, today wasn't utterly terrible and the steely eyes will be back tomorrow.

And now I know I have carb reloading to look forward to when I get near my goal, I am more focused than everSmile

Ofthread · 25/02/2018 20:41

No, not tracking averages. I’ve got AF and not had a good week for the diet - two nights out and visitors. Also, first day working in a new place. Oh well! I knew last week 3lb loss was too good to be true.

On the up side I feel I look very very marginally better in the belly area.

twinkledag · 25/02/2018 22:31

Went for another half hour run tonight. I've exercised 3 times this week so feeling proud of myself.

Hoping to lose another 2lbs by Thursday/March wishful thinking

Not2bObvious · 26/02/2018 06:44

I think you’ve got your answer why you’re not seeing any additional loss ofthread, and anyway totm causes retention.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/02/2018 07:59

I've fallen off the wagon a bit in the last 4/5 days from feeling a bit sad and sorry for myself over various things and a lot of social engagements. I know it will be a gain this week (weigh day Wednesday) just about limiting the damage between now and then to keep it as low as possible...
it's my friends birthday meal on Wednesday as well Hmm

Feezles · 26/02/2018 09:06

At risk of adding to the general aura of doom and gloom today (I think it must be Monday-itis!), I was up this morning, by 0.5lb. AF has arrived here today too, which might make this week a tad tricky.

But no! I am thinking and sending lots of lovely positive thoughts!

Everyone has bumps, Ofthread and Last - if dieting was easy, we wouldn't need a lovely supportive mumsnet thread to keep us going, would we? Ride it out, keep the faith, and refocus when you are through it.

Last, enjoy your lovely meal out, I am a massive convert to the Not school of thinking that says that this has to be sustainable, or it won't ever be real weight loss. If it takes longer to come off and you still get to enjoy yourself while you're doing it, it just means it is more likely to stay off permanently.

Ofthread AF sucks. But think of that lovely crash when wall the retained fluid comes offSmile

Not2bObvious · 26/02/2018 10:39

Any gains feezles will be smoothed out by the averages, just log it and move on. After all my hunger yesterday afternoon, I ended up under calories as had to go to bed at 6.30, was utterly exhausted! Weight stayed the same today so that’s a nice start to the week. I think I would be down but my system is shocking sluggish these days, my diet hasn’t been very fibre rich due to my lurgy. Took my last tablet this morning and hoping to feel better as the week wears on.
You were working so hard last, don’t be hard on yourself. You’re not a machine, all out and very little in can’t go on forever. Please just eat normally for the next couple of days, none of this starving yourself.

Feezles · 26/02/2018 10:55

Oh, totally - I'm still feeling super-positive. I might be slightly up on the weekend, but I am still 0.5lb down on last Monday, and ready to push on this week. I've got some really tasty meals planned (though I must admit I am a bit nervous about serving mackerel up to DH, much as I am looking forward to it myself!), and I feel like I am in a good place.

Sorry you're still feeling so rotten Not - hopefully this is just the sting in the tail and you'll be back on form v quickly.

QuimReaper · 26/02/2018 13:44

Hello everyone! Sounds like you're all doing amazingly well, glad to see so many of you having a successful February, and a belated Happy Birthday to you Hairspray - 9st 9 is incredible Shock

My 2 mega-fasts last week seem to have had some impact: I weighed in at only 1 Linda higher than I started the month at Hmm but it really could have been much much worse, so now I can FINALLY have a week uninterrupted by mid-week socialising I'm holding out for a STS for the month. Still about 4-5 Lindas from goal. Sigh.

Not2bObvious · 26/02/2018 13:55

Only 4-5lbs to goal quim? No wonder they’re sticky, last stretch is the toughest...that’s what I hear anyway! I’m incapable of fasting after months & months of 5:2, then months of BSD. I’ll never forget telling one of my in laws I was doing 5:2 and she commented it clearly wasn’t working for me. You know that moment when your mind realises you’ve been insulted but immediately after I accepted it was the bitter truth. Still stung.
Thanks for the well wishes feezles, most def on the mend

QuimReaper · 26/02/2018 14:07

I'm waiting for an engineer to come and fix our stupid WiFi then going to brave the cold - I figure if I get it out of the way before it gets dark it might be a bit more bearable! How's the weather where everyone else is?

BOOP I think that cheese restaurant must be what church folk mean when they talk about heaven. Have you checked you haven't died?

QuimReaper · 26/02/2018 14:21

Not2b sadly I've been at goal and need to get back to it! I reached goal last summer and have just hung around on the thread to keep my resolve up and share my priceless pearls of wisdom Grin Talking diet / weight loss nonsense is my guilty pleasure, I'd never really chat about it in real life unless someone else brought it up, which is why I adore you Slenderistas so much!

Anyway, I ended up a kilo and a half or so up after Christmas started in mid December and stretched into early January, and have had a stupidly busy February too socially, so now it's up to 2 kilos Blush I'll be able to make some headway with it now that my calendar's calmed down. I'm not too hard and fast with it obviously, just weigh in once a week and as long as I'm within a few hundred grams I call that maintenance. I'll be happier once I'm back in the right kilo bracket...!

I havent really been on form but having a weigh in tomorrow to see what the damage is

Not2bObvious · 26/02/2018 17:00

I wouldn’t recommend it keep, if it worked I wouldn’t be here. I’m sure it has its place, has worked well for very overweight folk with diabetes type 2 or pre-diabetics T2 as a way to drop weight pretty quick and drop blood sugar levels. Low carb, low sugar, low cals, 10,000 steps a day. It’s a joyless way to live once the euphoria wears off, 800 cals a day for 8 weeks. That’s my experience, no magic bullet that’s for sure
