By total calories I'm not including any exercise ones.

Ellieboolou27 · 26/01/2018 20:33

spring my cousin gave it to me in the early 90's when it was the in thing, sorry to say but it didn't help much for me, we used to call it the fat wobbler Grin

want I know all about self sabotage with excess calories using mfp, i even deleted the app a few weeks back as I felt it was driving me nuts, I'd eat all my calories by lunch then blame the app Grin
Join us, take it a day at a time and you will and can lose the weight.

Springiscoming123 · 26/01/2018 20:47

Successful day today Smile I usually find fridays difficult as it's a long, stressful day in uni surrounded by cakes and chocolate but I took a packed lunch a fibre one brownie for the afternoon cake cravings.
I'm just about to have a couple of scoops of Halo Top vanilla ice cream, bought it from tesco earlier recommended by my cousin who's doing slimming world. It's only 280 calories for the whole tub and she said it tastes really nice so I'm going to give it a try and hopefully it'll come in handy for when I'm craving something sweet.

Ellieboolou27 · 26/01/2018 21:22

Well done another being prepared really makes the difference, it's so hard when temptation is around.

Just eaten my ww dessert, not doing too well with the not eating after 7pm but at least it's controlled Grin

Kids party tomorrow and busy day with activities so will keep focused over the weekend

SoTotallyOverThis · 26/01/2018 22:04

This is a great thread. You folks are really motivating me. I have been procrastinating getting back into a routine after the holidays and am still carrying around some of the weight I gained with all that great food around. I found this interesting, science based, 2 Week Diet program and think I might give this a try. In case you are interested, I have included a link to it. Best of luck to you in getting the bodies of your dreams too!

SoTotallyOverThis · 27/01/2018 10:58

Ha! Well I still feel overweight but better for losing 9lb.

The app works for me but I’ve learnt a) check points before you eat to avoid bitter regret and b) log everything. It’s the only way to know what you’re doing well and not well.

I still have some issues with its low fat / high carb emphasis as increasing amount of evidence shows that these diets don’t work. I therefore ignore the eat all the fruit and have low fat (but often high carb) foods so I’m pleased that they’ve now recognised chicken / salmon etc are zero points. But it’s the best diet I’ve found for me that works.

Weigh in day tomorrow!!

Springiscoming123 · 27/01/2018 15:15

hi,glad your finding the thread inspiring, its great hearing what people are doing etc

good luck in with the weigh in,remember you can also lose inches that you dont realise as wont show up as weight

ive really got to get in the routine of eating in the day,so far nothing and im out in a bit, will force something down me

will look at the link later, thanks

Hi all, can I join?!

I’m using My Fitness Pal. I did a TDEE calculation online, and set MFP calories to that minus 500, so I’ve got an allowance of 1500.

Breakfast all week has been overnight oats.

Lunch has either been leftovers from the night before, or soup and a roll.

Dinner has been lots of things from The Hairy Dieters cookbooks, I especially love the spicy pork and rice. I’ve also had omelette with sweet potato fries and salad, I fried off some chicken with fajita spice mix and added onions, peppers and spinach last night. I had it on top of a sweet potato I did in the microwave and it was lovely!!

I’m trying really hard not to snack, and I’m saving enough calories for a freddo or cornetto in an evening because I LOVE chocolate. The only other difference I’ve made is to buy a water bottle from amazon that holds 2.2ltrs and drink that through the day. Finding the weekend hard as we usually have a takeaway but I’m determined that I will never feel as bad in my body as I did last summer. This summer will be different.

I’ve lost 5lbs this week, only another stone and a half to go Confused

Springiscoming123 · 27/01/2018 16:03

hi bif your very welcome 5lb is pretty amazing for a week, well done

do you feel hungry in the day,oh id have the cornetto will last longerGrin

you sound very organized and focused, send some my way,lol

OP posts:
BifsWif · 27/01/2018 16:06

I am at the moment, but experience tells me it won’t last longer than a week or two Blush

I really would like to stick to it this time, I’m sick of feeling uncomfortable and my clothes not fitting properly.

The overnight oats really fill me up, I’m most hungry between lunch and my evening meal but I try to drink most of my water then. I eat with the children now too at 6pm instead of waiting until they’re in bed and eating with DH. The thought of that cornetto as my evening treat gets me through!

Springiscoming123 · 27/01/2018 16:11

id just like to say thank and well done to all those that have joined the thread, ita a great mix of differrent approaches which i love and is interesting to hear of others meals etc

there is some great support but just to add i know from previous diets we sometimes have a bad day or week, dont be afraid to come on here i imagine its happened to all,i know i have many times

so dont feel afraid to post and disappear i can guarantee we will all have a rocky time, were here tosupport (god that sounded deep)

I needed deep spring last night had kids up every hour and I ended up eaten 4 chocolate stollen bites left in the biscuit tin Blush

Been good today, though I need my jaws wired from 7pm-7am

bifs welcome! Great idea to eat with kids, I always have dinner when they are in bed but some nights takes ages for them to settle, by that time I'm not bothered to cook and binge on junk, now I'm eating with them, makes a difference.

How's everyone else getting along?

MercuryRising · 28/01/2018 07:23

I know I'm a bit late to the thread bit please can I join you. I woke up in the night worrying about needing to lose weight. My sister gets married in 16 weeks and I am one of her bridesmaids. I would like to lose 35 pounds before then. That is just over 2 pounds a week, so im hoping with some hard work it will be doable.
My diet has been horrific for a while now. I have been eating far to many biscuits.
I am going to weigh myself today. I plan to cut out all snacking except fruit, drink more water, cut out some carbs at each meal and start walking and swimming. I was also thinking of doing an online exercise video. Can anyone recommend a good one?
I think I need some accountability so this thread will really help.

BifsWif · 28/01/2018 07:38

The 30 day shred on YouTube is brilliant! Do level 1 for ten days, then level 2 for ten days and so on. It’s only 25 minutes, 3 circuits of 7 minutes each and a cool down.

Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do it, when I first started I could only do 5 minutes but keep going, the results are worth it.

MercuryRising · 28/01/2018 07:42

Thank you. I will have a look. My fitness is non existence, but I guess even 5 minutes would be better than nothing.
I am toying with buying a fitbit. Do any of you use one?

AnotherRanger · 28/01/2018 11:13

I did well yesterday but got too snacky in the evening, went just over my calories so not a disaster but I need to make an effort to rein it in.
I had a sneaky weigh in this morning and have lost 2lbs since thursday so that's motivated me to sort my evening snacking out.
Just had beans on one small slice of toast, no butter and a sprinkle of cheese as DS has a party to go to soon so I won't be able to have anything until the party has finished and done a food shop so hopefully this keeps me going.
I plan on going to the gym in the morning which I'm nervous about,I've not been for a few months and I usually go with a friend but she's cancelled her membership so I'm on my own Sad

BifsWif · 28/01/2018 11:22

Yep, got one of those too. I’m not hitting my steps yet but seeing how I do each day spurs me on to try and get more in. I change jobs next week (no more shifts, yay!) so I plan on walking the dog for at least an hour every evening.

Ellieboolou27 · 28/01/2018 11:47

Had a snack attack last night and ate 5 fig rolls - I don't even like them but still gobbled 5 done!

Woke up this morning feeling rubbish then came on, sorry tmi but whenever I get a period I'm always hungry the few days before I come on, wasn't expecting one so early but Jan is a long month!

Did a 15 HIIT workout this morning, planning my meals this week and didn't buy anything to tempt me on yesterday's food shop apart from said fig rolls which have now gone Blush

Springiscoming123 · 28/01/2018 14:53

Hi,had a terrible night last night chocolate binge, woke up and feel bad about it

SoTotallyOverThis · 28/01/2018 16:10

I lost another pound this week so that’s 10lb so far!

For me I find the key is no alcohol. If I have wine or beer I can’t avoid the chocolate or cake. It’s all rather boring if I’m honest but I’m so fed up of looking and feeling like this and not drinking unneeded calories is not so much of a hardship really
