Anyone up for a current thread? I've had a good search and couldn't find anything recent!

I've got the book/cd and am downloading the app too. I'll start tonight.

I've never done this kind of thing before but am very open to it working :)

Thanks do much for this thread you guys. I've been really over eating since Xmas, in a spiral with it.
I did ICMYT about 9 years ago, and it's the most sane way of losing weight I've ever come across, it actually addresses my relationship with food with more than will power. But I'd forgotten all about it.
I need to revisit the book, ( if I still have it), and remember the 4 rules.
It feels really timely, thanks for starting this thread op.

gigi556 · 17/02/2018 18:43

@ppeatfruit It's called Get Control of Sugar Now

www.amazon.co.uk/Get-Control-Sugar-Now-Choices/dp/0593075684/ref=nodl_

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 19:06

I'm not sure about his sugar one. I bought it but it sort of flies in the face of all his other eating books. He has become evangelical about the demon sugar when if you follow his four rules sugar falls into its natural place as a treat . Solo you know what to do, just step back into it 🤩

Solo · 17/02/2018 23:52

Yes Dotty I must. I need to find the book and CD's out and get into them first. I will do this. I've got under 2 stones to lose and lost 2 stones fairly easily last time; I did need another stone off but, I think I lost the will when my PMK thread died at number 16. I went from 15st 2lbs to 13st 2lbs but, I really want to be 12st now. I'm not daft enough to want to be 9st 7lbs anymore as I am almost 54 and don't want to look gaunt and scraggy as can happen as you age. I'm going to look out the book and CD's tomorrow I think and get started on the book.

Let's DO this!! :)

DottyDotts · 18/02/2018 01:06

Solo 🤩🤩🤩

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2018 10:19

1998 Blimey Solo! It makes me feel old I remember dd2 giving me the book a long time ago, though I didn't start properly till before the PMK conference that some of us MNetters won tickets to go to!

Thanks Dotty I reckon that sugar is like alcohol in that some of us can cope with it in reasonable amounts (without getting addicted) and others can't! (after all there's plenty of sugar in alcohol too!).

Solo · 18/02/2018 12:16

Pp do you realise that PMK's seminar was 7 years ago - tomorrow?!! Shock I did enjoy that and it was so instantly life changing! Sad really that I lost my way with it.

Ohyesiam · 18/02/2018 21:27

Er, lost my way a bit tonightBlush. Came in from swimming and was really unable to eat my pasta slowly, my mind Just wouldn't stay put, and I need to be really present to show it down. I did swim a mile so that's ok , right?
I really need to get a new phone tomorrow so I can put the app on it.

DottyDotts · 19/02/2018 01:45

OYes doesn't matter one bit. Just start again. Do you have a personal CD player or mp3? You could get the book and CD second hand Off amazon . Reading the book really helps you to understand the logic behind it.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2018 09:17

Good grief Sols 7 years !

As Dotty says OYes that's one of the brilliant things about this way of eating, you can just wait till you feel properly hungry and begin again! I do this esp. round this time of the year because we go out to eat quite a bit. No restauranteur believes in even JUST 3 courses any more !! Grin

Solo · 19/02/2018 10:32

Yes! 7 years today!!

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2018 12:24

Oh gosh I do remember! It was very cold outside and in the theatre too! I don't remember you mentioning you were there too in our old threads! But they were quite a while ago too! My memory is not that good!!

DottyDotts · 19/02/2018 15:14

Have you found your book and s yet Solo Smile

Solo · 20/02/2018 00:01

Not yet. I will though!

chalice90 · 20/02/2018 12:04

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm on day 3 - listening to the audio every day and have the app too. Feeling positive at the moment but need to keep it up. Finding it strange how little I want to eat and how often I'm saying no to things I'm being offered when I'd usually take them without thinking. Not complaining though!!

Ohyesiam · 20/02/2018 12:20

Hello and Welcome chalice 90

Thanks dotty and ppeat. I need to bear that in mind. I'm getting caught up in not doing it properly( it's so hard to be slow and taste my food), but actually I'm already eating less than since before Christmas.

I need to download the app, but for various dull reasons I can't at the moment. Should be sorted in a few days though. I need the help of the trance!

Can anyone help with one aspect of it?
When I manage to stop eating because I suspect I'm full, I feel disappointed that I'm not getting any more to eat. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but as I've been eating to deal with my feelings since childhood, that " gap " can feel quite daunting. Last night I tried to focus on getting thinner, which I want, but does anyone else have any tactics?

ppeatfruit · 20/02/2018 12:53

You leave a bit on your plate (if you're a member of the clean plate club,or your parents were! ) Then you can say to yourself clearly "i'll eat that later when I feel hungry again!"

I love this way of eating because I'll eat a special dessert (slowly , really enjoying it) when I'm hungry, as a meal! So you don't feel deprived!

ppeatfruit · 20/02/2018 12:58

Oyesiam You put it in the fridge of course ,sorry Blush and tell yourself the above. Funnily when I do this really seriously I find I literally CAN'T finish a plate of food , I start to feel a bit yeuch about it!!

gigi556 · 20/02/2018 14:09

Ok, I've ordered the book! Should I wait for the book or download the app and get started???

I seem to have a real addiction to food! Find it difficult to stop when I'm full because it tastes so good. Also, I found I was eating more cakes and sweets in the build up to giving them up for lent because I would be depriving myself. Totally ridiculous!

ppeatfruit · 20/02/2018 16:03

gigi Only you know how good your postal service is! If you've ordered the book anyway, I don't know what the app costs!

Ohyesiam · 20/02/2018 16:17

I'll give that a try "ppeat*, thank you.
It is lovely to have people to run this pastGrin

gigi556 · 20/02/2018 17:57

I ordered it used so hopefully won't take too long and hopefully the CD comes intact! It was only £4 including the postage. I think the app is £7. Anyone using the app?

chalice90 · 20/02/2018 18:22

I'm using the app. It's very similar to the book and cd but I'm only on day 2 of it so can't judge too well yet. All seems to be working well together though.

BusterGonad · 20/02/2018 18:30

Hello everyone, I'm going to join you if you don't mind, I've got the app and fell of the wagon about a month ago but you really need to retry it as I'm in a bit of a binging cycle and I'm moving to a hot country in the summer and I really really want to feel good about myself, I think I fell off the wagon as I was on steroids and I've now been off them for about 5 days so I feel that it's a good time to retry to be the person I want to be!!!

BusterGonad · 20/02/2018 18:31

Gosh, what a mouthful! Sorry it was such an unstructured post!!! 😂
