Anyone up for a current thread? I've had a good search and couldn't find anything recent!

I've got the book/cd and am downloading the app too. I'll start tonight.

I've never done this kind of thing before but am very open to it working :)

Ah just posted a thread asking about this technique!

Giggi Hello 👋** . This way of eating is very good for helping your body get back to is natural size, whatever that may be for you

gigi556 · 17/02/2018 06:55

I just feel I need to get a hold on portion control and sugar. I've given up cakes and chocolate for lent as a starting point. I'm not massively overweight but could do with losing a little. I mostly want to feel healthy and energized.

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 08:36

Giggi I did the opposite when starting this way of eating. I followed PMs words and made all foods equal and ate anything I wanted but used the four rules . Cutting out certain foods is something I did later and I cut out those that didn't agree with me.

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 08:36

Sorry, got your name wrong Gigi

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2018 09:56

PMK is the right place for portion control because your body learns to control what you eat without too much difficulty! It's the best way IMO and E.

The secret is in the chewing slowly and really tasting and enjoying the food!

Solo · 17/02/2018 13:07

Pp is right. Don't do anything other than eat at meal times either. Savour the food in your mouth; taste it, feel the textures and enjoy your food.

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 13:57

Solo do you only eat at mealtimes? I eat when I'm hungry too which sometimes is mid morning or afternoon and after dinner?

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 14:04

What makes this work for me is listening to my body. So if I'm very hungry I eat BUT I stop when I'm feeling less hungry so usually after half a sandwich. I eat of smaller plates now as I know I won't eat much .

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 14:08

"Off"

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2018 14:16

Dotty I'll answer for Solo (if that's ok Sols?) When you first start you do eat when you get properly hungry (not when you're starving or a little bit hungry) But after a while it becomes 2nd nature to be hungry at normal mealtimes !

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2018 14:17

I'm not sure if that happens to everyone?

Solo · 17/02/2018 14:34

I eat when hungry but, sometimes just when I need to feed Dd as it's 'time' Hmm. But, I'm not back into this way yet - at least not really. I haven't read or listened but, I did eat a smaller meal last night and left a mouthful of potato on the plate. I spoiled it by fancying and eating some fresh bread later on though.

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 14:47

pp thanks but I was asking Solo out of interest 😊 . I've been eating this way for well over 15 years now.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2018 14:51

Oh Dotty When did his first book come out? I've been at it a long time too not as long as 15 years though Shock

gigi556 · 17/02/2018 15:13

Interesting. I noticed he also has a series for giving up sugar. Wonder if I should try that first.

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2018 15:14

What's it on gigi556 ?

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 15:31

pp this was before Paul brought out his books/cds. I started mindful eating in early 2000 after reading about it. When Paula Hypnosis cds came out I used them to help reinforce it

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 15:32

Paul not Paula

Solo · 17/02/2018 15:55

Shock He first published ICMYT in 1998!!

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 16:53

Did he Solo? Wow. I read a book about stopping overeating in 1988 which was one of the pioneering books on this.

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 16:55

Just looked. So he did. I think I bought his cd and book in 2000 ish 😊

DottyDotts · 17/02/2018 17:01

It's good that this method works. It's retraining yourself to eat normally really, without guilt. Once you get your head around it, throw away the scales and trust your own body to let you know when and what it needs, your body will know what to do. For me anyway. Smile

Solo · 17/02/2018 17:47

It's very true. Sadly, I got into a bit of a spiral with everything so, didn't listen to my stomach anymore.
