I need your help, I have been an eating machine since the beginning of December. I am getting fatter and fatter by the day and am so miserable.

Today I put my brave head on and got on the scales. I weigh 11 stone 4.5lbs. I am not very tall so I am barrelesque and wobbly.

Things really have to change, honestly none of my clothes fit and I only have three dresses that I can currently fit into. My jeans do not fit and are so tight I can barely do them up let alone breathe.

Please join me in sorting my fat act out.

There is a 5:2 board with a massive recurring support thread
curated by the wonderful @BigChocFrenzy
The current one is here

As I say, and will keep saying
5:2 is not for verybody
but it works for many

I was 11 stone in November (5'4''). I gave up all sugar and am 10st today. My jeans fell down earlier!

Eat Total yoghurt, eggs, skin-on chicken and veg and avoid bread/pasta. It really works!

(Still got a stone and a half to go).

Obi, have you seen recent research that says that drinking fizzy drinks makes you eat more? So by giving them up, you're not only losing the obvious calories you might be helping yourself to lose more!

Mintyneb yes!! My appetite has definitely dropped since and I'm saving about £3.50 a day!

Can I join too? I’m 5ft and 10st. I look like an egg on legs at the moment and none of my clothes fit properly. Want to lose 16lbs before the summer, by Easter ideally. Might try 16:8 as I can skip breakfast no problem. Have started yoga and an aerobics class last week as well so that should help too

Obi that's fantastic news for your wallet too Smile

Hi to everyone else!

I stopped smoking mid November, so am in week 9 now (I think) I said I’d get through Christmas then worry about losing the weight. I have no idea where to start. I’ve only ever been skinny all my adult life, I think I eat really sensibly, I need to find a way to exercise.
5 foot tall, dress size 14. Is aiming for size 10 unrealistic? I’m 54 and menopausal and the weight has just piled on. 🙁 ( I was a size 4/6 up until a few years ago)

I recommend the app Happy Scale for recording weight. It breaks the goals into little bits and also smooths the weight loss curve so you don’t get disheartened by a small gain one week. It really helped me see the big picture when I started using it.

First weight in tomorrow.

Hi fat fighters 😂 please can I join too? I'd already decided tomorrow was the day to rock up to ww, but saw this and happily skipped as it might be the extra help I need to nail it. My 3rd baby is 9 months old and the weight just dropped off with no 2 yet it's annoyingly clinging on with this one and it's panicking me in case I can't get into my work uniform by the time I return to work from mat leave in a few months 😬😬

And me please! Decided not to weigh and it makes me miserable. Going to use MFP and workout x 2/3 per week as I have been doing since Oct.

From last weigh in have about 21lb minimum to go!

Oh can I join too! I have a stone to lose... I half heartedly tried to 'be good' at the start of January but it didn't go anywhere! And now i'm right back into old bad habits, eating chocolate in the evening and eating toast by the bucket load... help required! x

Ps my thighs don't just rub together they are actually squashed together on a permanent basis. And when I've been in bed and asleep on my side and move first thing in a morn I seriously think that the skin has ripped off each thigh because they are so tightly squashed together. Hence why something has got to give 😬😬

Good luck everyone. My willpower is quite literally crap, I don’t have a lot to lose but my god it’s tough to stop eating crap and snacking. Doesn’t help when my husband brings me chocolate home, I can’t resist it. I’m back on it tomorrow, I’m determined this time.

For those of you without a FitBit, MapMyWalk and MapMyRun are good apps. My Fitbit is gathering dust since I got them.

Does anyone else struggle a bit with myFitnessPal? I find tracking the food ingredient by ingredient so time consuming - am I missing a trick?

Report
TalkinPeace · 14/01/2018 21:11

nutella
If you are making a meal like Spag bol, put that in and then estimate UPWARDS on the quantities
lots of jar sauces are already in
and if you set up a recipe once, its saved to pick up again later
but it really matters to list EVERYTHING you eat AND DRINK
as that is where the hidden calories lie

the simplest way to make MFP less of a hassle is to STOP SNACKING Grin

Report
mintyneb · 14/01/2018 21:23

Nutella, it's a bit of a faff adding all the ingredients but once you've put them on there once you can create a 'meal' from them and then its east to add them again (if youre following the same recipe that is!)

Nutellaonnutella · 14/01/2018 21:33

Thanks Minty and Talk, I think I need to sit down and enter some healthy lunch recipes and dinner recipes ingredient by ingredient, then it's done and it'll encourage me to eat those meals regularly too. Ja, and definitely an incentive to stop snacking!!

Can I join as well. I am 5ft 8 and weigh 12 st 9 lb. I was 13 st 4 on Boxing Day having spent the past few months comfort eating and slugging way too much wine.
Have been dry since Christmas and will be until I get my weight back in control. Wine is my downfall. And the snacks that go with the wine. Also doing zero exercise since the summer.
Am doing the 16:8 as well as 1200 kcal a day. I also find if I eat breakfast I am starving an hour later. Trying to ‘power walk’ for 35 mins a day. So far it’s worked. Need to stick to it as ALL of my weight has gathered in my stomach area only and I am like a barrel just now.
Tiredmum you made my smile with your thigh story Smile.
Good luck everyone!

If you are tracking calories
NEVER eat back exercise calories
ever ever ever
(a) because you will have over estimated them
(b) because you will have under estimated your food
(c) if you have been accurate then you have just given yourself a bonus

I've given up mfp before because I just couldn't be arsed to put all the ingredients in. Have downloaded it again and will start tomorrow!

I seriously need to give up wine. Beer too. I fucking love booze. Gutted.
