I need your help, I have been an eating machine since the beginning of December. I am getting fatter and fatter by the day and am so miserable.

Today I put my brave head on and got on the scales. I weigh 11 stone 4.5lbs. I am not very tall so I am barrelesque and wobbly.

Things really have to change, honestly none of my clothes fit and I only have three dresses that I can currently fit into. My jeans do not fit and are so tight I can barely do them up let alone breathe.

Please join me in sorting my fat act out.

Morning all!

Hope you're having fun, Pixie - it's never a bad thing to get away from the scales for a little while. Isabelle - I'm sure this is only a blip and a few days of cupboard avoidance will sort everything back out.

It is quite a thought, though, how annoyingly easy it is to undo all the effort (and again I'm struck by the monumental effort it takes to lose an ounce while just looking at a chocolate biscuit seems to miraculously put another pound on... it's a sad fact of dieting).

My results are:

Last week: 9 st 12.6
Today: 9 st 13.4

So still good enough and I'm not panicking about putting 0.8 of a pound on, but I will try to have a fairly restrained week and make sure I don't tip into the 10s. Going out for dinner on Friday AND Saturday so I really will need to rein myself in between now and then.

PixieN · 30/07/2018 14:34

That’s annoying @IsabelleSE19 It’s much harder when you’re out of routine. I find it really tricky when i’m not at work. Maybe have some lower fat snacks in? I resorted to pom bears & Freddos when I was having chocolate & crisp cravings. But then you’ve got the problem of sticking to just one bag/packet Hmm

Well done for staying in the 9s @lurkingfromhome I’d love to be 9st something!

Caggie09 · 31/07/2018 10:11

Hi all, i didnt weigh in yesterday as i was busy! Im really not sticking very well to this again. I know i have a bad time and then a good time of it. My body will be so confused!

Last week: 9st 13

This week: 9st 12.

I seem to always be thinking of food! Id love a nice all day breakfast right now, but ill stick to something healthierGrin

Well done everyone else!

PixieN · 01/08/2018 13:25

Well done @Caggie09 I find myself thinking about food a lot too! Grin

PixieN · 06/08/2018 07:56

Morning all! Back from holiday to face the scales and a week off has done me good. I’m almost back to my lowest weight of a couple of weeks ago.

Last weigh in: 10st 10
This week: 10st 7

lurkingfromhome · 06/08/2018 09:53

@PixieN - what a result! That holiday has obviously done you some good Grin. I normally dread standing on the scales after a holiday. Were you being very restrained or was it just too hot to eat?

I have weirdly dropped a bit too, for no particular reason, especially since I was out on Friday night and Saturday night for dinner and drinks and had an ice cream on both nights. Just trying not to panic about days like that and getting back to eating properly the next day.

Last week: 9 st 13.4
Today: 9 st 11.6

PixieN · 06/08/2018 11:10

Well done Lurking sounds like a great result for you too! It’s got to be sustainable in the long term so definitely don’t panic about ice cream & a meal or two out - sounds like a healthy approach to me.

I was dreading facing the scales, so not really sure what happened!? I was quite active - lots of walking (a UK based holiday) and very sadly took my dance DVDs away with me lol. I did 2 sessions as that’s what I would have done at home.

I tried to be more mindful about food & not eat until I was stuffed. At one point, DH and I were debating whether to have a pudding after a lovely meal out (these banana profiteroles we’re seriously calling out to me) but we both realised we were too full. It helped that it was a very expensive restaurant Grin

For another meal out we had a starter and a few vegetable sides (skipping the mains) so we had room for a pud. I also made lots of salad style lunches when we didn’t go out to eat. It didn’t feel restrictive at all. Worked out that we’d had chips (do chunky restaurant ones that are more like potatoes count?) on 4 separate occasions though 🙈😁

lurkingfromhome · 06/08/2018 13:50

I think that's a really good approach and I too am trying to eat slightly more mindfully even when I'm out and I could in theory eat what I want. I try not to eat things "just for the sake of it" but make sure everything I order is something I really fancy.

As well as all my weekend ice cream & dinners (and wine and cocktails) I also went out for coffee and cake with a friend on Saturday - normally I'd have scoffed a lovely cake and not thought twice about it but I found myself only eating half and not really wanting the rest so I left it. I feel that is probably the way to go for weight maintenance ...

Caggie09 · 06/08/2018 15:00

Oh god, i dont know what ive doneShock i was out on Friday so ate loads of junk, and had a few gins on Saturday and im upto 10st 2Shock i feel really groggy and blaoted at the moment too, im due my totm today. Hoping the gain is that. So annoying.

Well done everyone else, you seem to be on a roll!

IsabelleSE19 · 07/08/2018 18:27

Hi all, sorry, I forgot to weigh in yesterday! Better news, although since I weighed myself I have been disgracing myself with cake and lollies!

Starting weight: 12 st 9 lb
Last week: 11 st 4.5 lb
This week: 11 st 2.5 lb

Well done pixie - a holiday weight loss is the ultimate achievement! I do not have high expectations of my holiday in a couple of weeks. I keep reading recommendations of cafes where we're going that do amazing cakes! And well done lurking too - great that you're staying under your 10st barrier.

Hope the weight vanishes when your totm is over caggie!

OneOfTheGrundys · 08/08/2018 17:28

Hey... can I join?
My DH was diagnosed with a life limiting/terminal illness in Feb/March and since stepping up anti depressants and just getting through life I have put on loads of weight.
I’m too scared to weigh myself...
but my cholesterol levels are a bit raised and I must lose weight.
I think I’m about 2-3 stone over.

IsabelleSE19 · 09/08/2018 08:28

Hi oneofthegrundys and welcome! So sorry to hear about your DH, that must be so hard, and of course self-care sinks down the priority list.

I've been having success with just logging all my calories on the My Fitness Pal app. I like weighing myself as it gives me a tangible way to measure progress, but it was very bad the first time! The shock of the first number made me take action though. You could always measure your waistline instead if that's less scary? That's supposed to be more important I think anyway.

We weigh in on a Monday. Good luck! Smile

lurkingfromhome · 09/08/2018 11:11

Hello everyone

Isabelle that is a fantastic result, and you are inching ever closer to the 10s, which will be a HUGE milestone!

Caggie it's a blip, of course it is. TOTM and general water retention is surely responsible as you won't have put 2lbs on just through a day or two of gin and junk.

welcome, oneofthegrundys - so very sorry about your DH and I think we can all identify with how it's hard to look after yourself when you're busy looking after other people and stressed out your mind. We will try and support you here and give you tips on what is working for us.

OneOfTheGrundys · 10/08/2018 12:09

Thank you all!
Your gains (losses!) are just brilliant.
We’re on holiday next week... will weigh in the following Monday!

PixieN · 11/08/2018 08:51

Hi OneoftheGrundys Welcome to the thread and so sorry to hear about your DH. That sounds tough Flowers

Great result Isabelle - it’s really motivating when you see progress like that. I downloaded the app, but see it as too much of a faff for me.

Don’t worry Caggie I normally gain when it’s totm. I’m sure you’ll be back on track soon.

I seem to have plateaued again so know I need to step things up again. Away with friends next week though so not looking v likely and will miss weigh in too. Oh well. Good luck to everyone for Monday!Smile

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 11/08/2018 21:51

Oneofthegryndys

I wanted to reply to your post . I am sorry for what you are facing

Having lost 3 stone since January I can say the main benefit is feeling healthier . Cutting out bad food , alcohol and sugar will do benefits for your mental health and your stamina to deal with what faces you

So maybe an approach to get healthy and strong (and you will inevitably lose weight along the way) will help xx

I myself have seen the mental health benefits of exercise - and less booze (not even sure if you are drinking )

Good luck to Everyone

lurkingfromhome · 13/08/2018 14:27

Hello all

Hope Monday has got off to a good start and weigh-ins have delivered good news. An uneventful result here (which is good ... I want things to stay uneventful Grin):

Last week: 9 st 11.6
This week: 9 st 11.6

I did actually dip down to 9 st 10.6 (had a sneaky midweek weigh-in) but had a day out involving some quite indulgent food and lots of cake yesterday, so there we are. However, back on a more restrained diet of lots of fruit today, nothing sugary and hearty veg soup for dinner just to get the whole cake thing out of my head for another week.

I do agree that eating well has huge mental health benefits - even if you just focus on nourishing yourself rather than weight loss, it seems to have a really beneficial effect on stamina and strength.

IsabelleSE19 · 13/08/2018 15:08

Hi all,

Back up for me a bit I'm afraid. Basically a bad weekend, as like lurking I had a midweek weigh-in where I was doing alright and now I've gone back up.

Starting weight: 12 st 9 lb
Last week: 11 st 2.5 lb
This week: 11 st 3.25 lb

Not awful, and I think today is going better so far, but this weekend we're away with relatives who are very much feeders! So some will power will be needed.

Well done lurking on your maintenance again!

lurkingfromhome · 13/08/2018 15:34

That's not too terrible at all Isabelle - not even a pound so it just looks like a slight fluctuation, not actual weight back on.

Yes, I hear you - next weekend I have a lunch, a dinner and another lunch out, so had better get a bit of willpower together and rein myself in beforehand in readiness!

Caggie09 · 13/08/2018 16:32

Hello everyone!

Last week: 10st 2
This week: 9st 10

Drank lots of water to try and get rid of the retention. Seems to have worked. Soo close to that 9st 7. Hoping i keep it on track and dont fall off.

Lets see how we get on next Monday Grin!

IsabelleSE19 · 13/08/2018 16:38

caggie Shock Shock Those numbers are absolutely awesome - well done!!! Smile Smile

lurkingfromhome · 13/08/2018 16:49

Caggie!!!!!!!!!

Pinkroseuk · 13/08/2018 19:52

Longtime lurker and occasional poster
I need to get back on track- managed to loose 5kg and now just stuck-
Any tips as to what I can do to start shifting again?! Thanks

PixieN · 14/08/2018 09:24

Wow Caggie that’s amazing! That’s my target too, but feel very far away from that! Not sure what I weigh as no scales this week, but will check in again next weigh in.

Hi Pinkrose I think i’ve hit a plateau too. We need Caggie to tell us what her secret is Smile

Caggie09 · 17/08/2018 07:05

Aw thank you everyone 😊 I do think its just water thats came off, i keep having a mid week weigh in to make sure its not gone back on. It hasnt which is great!
