Sorry about the crap thread title. I’m afraid my head hurts rather a lot!

Welcome to the best™️ Thread on MN where the Slenderistas help and support each other in their weight loss goals (and other stuff as well). Join in and lose the Lindas.

Hi topsy Welcome to the thread. Step 1: facing up to the reality - you've done this which means you're already on the way. Everyone does this in different ways here so let us know what your plans are and there'll be someone who'll join you I'm sure!

I am personally logging everything on MFP, which was something that helped me a lot a few years ago, but I've let the weight creep up again so returning back to that strategy to kick start me back into healthy eating and exercise.

fadingblonde1 · 03/01/2018 20:12

Welcome Topsyturvey

I'm calorie counting, it's the only plan I've ever had any success on. I've done ok today but no exercise yet. When the kids go back to school next week I might dust off some of my old Jillian Michael's dvds.

TheDonald · 03/01/2018 20:29

Welcome to all the new faces. I've found this thread really helpful since I joined in October. So far I've lost exactly 1 stone. Aiming for another 4lb this month.

I've done it using mfp (1200 - 1400 cals a day) but the thing that really helped was giving up sugar. It made a huge difference to my appetite and made it much easier to stick to my calorie goal.

I have tried to increase my exercise but that wasn't really my issue. I already did a lot of running. My problem was eating when I was bored, tired, stressed, (insert every emotion or state of mind!)

I don't think it matters what plan or diet you choose as long as you really want to make a change. I struggled to motivate myself for 2 years but this year something just clicked. Now I just need to get back on it after Christmas. Grin

Therealjudgejudy · 03/01/2018 20:52

Hi newbies!

Great breakfast advise BOOP thanks!

Today started so well. An hour in the gym early am. Went for a walk in my lunch break. However I've just demolished most of a family bag of Maltesers. Not happy with myself Sad

Kikisdeliveries · 03/01/2018 21:52

Ooh I've just realised that despite cake for lunch I have managed to come in at 1250 calories today. Very pleased with that!

DH is also on a health kick which does make life easier. It's no fun being abstemious if your nearest and dearest aren't.

cottonwool125 · 03/01/2018 22:39

I too am using MFP Smile it's brilliant! Such a deterrent from eating rubbish, seeing the calories creeping up and going over goal. Makes me see that before I started tracking everything, I was probably putting away 2500-3000 calories a day easily Sad

poorpaws · 03/01/2018 22:51

Welcome new friends, you’ll love it here, such amazing support and very friendly.

I’m still ill, I’m STILL bloody ill, I’m into the third week of no energy and feeling crap and eating crap BUT I’m on here every evening reading your advice and the very second I feel human again I’ll be back with you all. Some good loses so early and well done to you all but I will catch up soon, I will!

twinkledag · 03/01/2018 23:07

I've had an ok day - meals good and 20 mins on exercise bike done (easing back into it slowly!) but I have eaten leftover Xmas chocolate - it's nearly all finished then I can do this 100% properly!!

comeagainforbigfudge · 04/01/2018 06:43

Stepped on scales this morn to see what effects being back at work has had. Lost 1.5lbs. Good start given im still not mentally there yet.

Drinking more water and less fizzy juice.

Last day in my job today, which means a leaving tea. So will probably pile it back on though Grin

Not2bObvious · 04/01/2018 07:05

Day 3 of being in the zone, down another .8 to 11.8.6 - I have Friday as my official WI, I find it’s usually my lowest weight. Then it usually fluctuates over the weekend - and that’s even with having on track days. I wish I could break that cycle, I know it’s natural to flux, it just wrecks my head!
Hope you feel better soon poorpaws, being ill for 3 weeks is v hard going. Great your DH is with you on the health kick kiki, mine is long suffering with me. I have been more on track this year with the plan I do but still have the odd madness where I make him go out to buy crisps/chocolateBlush

BitOutOfPractice · 04/01/2018 08:38

Poorpaws I've been poorly since 22nd December. Fed up of it now, though I do seem marginally less snotty today

Topsy welcome to the Slenderistas. Don't be embarrassed - we are are a friendly bunch and you're in the right place. Stick with us

Therealjudgejudy I've just poached eggand beans on toast for breakfast - just so as you know. One of my favourite combos

NSV Yesterday. Took the tree down (the lounge looks so tidy!) and found two tree chocolates lurking round the back. Didn't eat them!

So, what are your pnas today? Not sure what to have for lunch but it's chicken tagine with preserved lemons for dinner. Plus a gym session (possibly two!)

BitOutOfPractice · 04/01/2018 08:42

3lbs down already Grin

Kikisdeliveries · 04/01/2018 09:03

Another good weigh in :) I've shed 4.6 Lindas, only a couple more to go before I'm back to early December weight. It's not normally this easy but I'll take it!

Plans today -
Fruit, yogurt and almonds for breakfast
Stirfry veg and prawns for dinner
Day 3 yoga with Adriene and some boring physio and whatever steps I fit in.

I'm still ill too. Cough cough fucking cough, ugh. I only came down with it on 30th so i guess I have plenty more to go :( I immediately stopped drinking any alcohol when it started, having watched DH suffer with it whilst continuing xmas party season as normal and I'd like to think that's helped lessen the impact.

I have a meeting over lunch time but mfp tells me I have oodles of calories to play with after logging the above already so I don't need to stress about it too much.

HairsprayBabe · 04/01/2018 10:19

Hi topsy please don't be embarressed, there are people at all stages of their weight loss "journey", you are in the right place for sure!

Do you have a plan you are wanting to use or just generally reduce calories etc. There are alsorts of methods here, low carb, intermittant fasting, very low calorie, excercize routines, shakes, eggs, etc. etc. So welcome and I hope this thread works for you. It has basically changed my life!

10.4 for me today, flicked between 10.3 and 4 so we are moving in the right direction again!

Hoping for at least 9.10 at the end of the month to get me back to "lowest weight ever" and only a few lbs from final goal weight 9.7 on a monday 9.4 on a friday Grin

cottonwool125 · 04/01/2018 10:40

Down 3/4 of a pound since Monday. Slow start, but at this rate I should average around 1.5 pounds a week, which I would be happy with! 1/2 a pound more and I will be under the 12stone mark Grin

BeyondWW · 04/01/2018 10:43

3.6lindas down this morning :) level with first week of December loss

vvviola · 04/01/2018 11:58

My plan to go out walking at lunchtime every day is being hindered by miserable weather and meeting-appropriate clothing. I think I may have to stash some runners and a change of clothes in my office if I want to do this.

Making a meal plan for next week so I can make sure to buy the right stuff at the weekend. I see lots of soup in my future...

Feezles · 04/01/2018 12:28

2lb down as of today - the alcohol-related fluid retention seems to be sorting itself out. I do like this bit of starting a diet!

We've bought the new Tom Kerridge diet book, and we're trying out a recipe at the weekend, so I'll report back. My main challenge is to stop DH looking at all the calorie counts and saying 'Great! We can eat double then!'Grin

Hi everyone

Got back on scales today and wasnt too disappointed. 12st 7lbs is a couple of lindas higher than November but given the lack of exercise and amount of alcohol in last 4 weeks I couldnt expect any better

Hoping to get back to exercise and fewer calories from now on but the running bug and gym bugs have long departed.

Away for a couple of nights for mid term in february and 12st 4 or below would be great as well as being my lowest since joining last year Hmm

NewYearNiki · 04/01/2018 14:01

I am amazed. I ate my body weight in chocolate and drank litres of Bailey's over Christmas and I have put on only a couple of Linda's.

Woo hoo. Damage not too bad to undo.

Bought a size small pair of sweaty betty yoga leggings in the sale and they fit like a glove. This time last year I would not have got one leg in a size small.

Therealjudgejudy · 04/01/2018 14:09

Today's plan..

1 hour in the gym at 6.30 this morning. Good workout...gym was very busy. Pint of lemon water and a cup of coffee for Breakfast. Chicken salad roll for lunch. Dinner will be salmon, spinach, sweet corn and plum tomatoes.

Am planning to weight in at the gym early tomorrow morning and am then flying to London at lunch time. Must plan damage limitation while I'm away.

Kikisdeliveries · 04/01/2018 14:27

Hi koko! Doing daily yoga is in my plan for 2018 so following Adriene just makes life easier, especially if others are doing it too.

Re. Calories:
I'm aiming for something like 1460 calories per day which is really quite doable and if I go under then I can feel even better about myself. If I aimed for 1000 I would fail and feel bad. Stick to the higher number and log it all somewhere. It's annoying to have to input bad data so helps as a deterrent!
