That's a great title Hairspray 😁

TVHubbyClaire · 31/01/2018 09:44

I forgot to do an end of month weigh in today but yesterday was 12st 6. Not making any progress but no disasters

I cant get into gym right now at all...played squash for first time in 20 years last week and pulled a muscle....couldnt finish the hour Sad

That forced me out of badminton last week and my cardio tennis wasnt too easy on Thursday. felt better this week and did badminton yesterday and will do tennis on Thursday....now that I have bought a racket i need to keep going...Hmm

Think I will give squash a miss for a week or two. there is also a metafit class on a Friday tea time I'm going to try and start in a few weeks. I remember they always felt like a bit of an effort so hopefully lighter me will get on better

Still hoping for a few pounds off in february but have nights out and a fancy hotel stay for a couple of nights coming up tooHmm

I heard somewhere koop that the metabolism thing is a myth and if you Google it there are all sorts of articles on the subject.

I screen shot one for examples sake.

Basically without cutting calories no one would lose weight.

If your body went into starvation mode and stored all the calories, none of us would have lost weight.

I agree with Niki and don't forget your metabolic rate will reduce as you lose weight naturally, as there is less of you to "fuel".

A 10st woman will need less calories to maintain their weight than a 15st woman for example.

NewYearNiki · 31/01/2018 10:19

Ain't that the truth Hairspray

I used to lose weight quicker when I was bigger.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 31/01/2018 10:23

Look at my 600lb life (yes I enjoy trash tv) - the people on there are put on a 1200cal diet and are expected to lose about 50lbs minimum in the three months between dr appointments, even as they get towards their goal.

Hello all! Last day of the month - whoop, Jan is almost behind us! I'm not weighing in until Friday morning, but honestly not expecting any miracles, just longing to see my target kg bracket again, or at least be very very close to it. It will've been a golden week but it will not be a golden weekend..., and next week AND the week after I have midweek plans. Gargh!

Do you think the low calorie slowing down your metabolism thing is real?

Nope and nope. Put it from your mind and don't sweat it. If you reduce calories you'll lose weight.

HairsprayBabe · 31/01/2018 12:44

Well the best way to boost ones metabolic rate is to do more exercise... as I have been told to do a million times Grin haha! As muscle burns more energy than fat even at rest, so you can eat more food!

It is all about calories in calories out... boringly!

ponygirlcurtis · 31/01/2018 13:05

Happy last day of January everyone - will be glad to see the back of it. I am definitely struggling to keep my focus for various reasons but keeping at it. Had some much-needed gym time today, the first in months, and I was pleased at how much I was able to do. Query for the seasoned runners - on my left foot my second toe in is longer than my big toe and the top gets rubbed painfully when I run. Anyone else get this? Or is it just me with freaky toes Any tips on preventing it?

ponygirlcurtis · 31/01/2018 13:06

Title ideas: Put the You in Feb-You-ary?

QuimReaper · 31/01/2018 13:16

pony I'm not a seasoned runner, but I'd get bigger shoes and put an insole in the one with the smaller toe!

Or get two different sized shoes Grin

twinkledag · 31/01/2018 13:35

I don’t post much but I read every single post.

Well done to everyone – January is a hard month to get through. Roll on February!

I ended the month on 3.5lbs down. TBH I have gained and lost the same 3.5lbs but 1. at least the trend is downwards and 2. I am exercising regularly so I’m proud :)

BitOutOfPractice · 31/01/2018 13:56

Pony have you been to a running shop for them to look at your gait and get properly fitted. It will change your life. I take a 6 in shoes but always have a 7 or 7.5 in runners

OP posts:
QuimReaper · 31/01/2018 14:26

Same BOOP - I'm a 6 too and I think my utterly neglected running shoes are a size 8!

twink exercising regularly is a bloody marvellous feat, as is kicking a 3.5 gain to touch - was it a Christmas gain? I think if everyone ended January at the weight they were before Christmas it'd be half the battle won Grin

Softpebbles · 31/01/2018 14:36

Was coming on to say always buy running shoes at least half a size bigger.

My January hasn't been great I am floating at 10st 11 and 10st 12. Hoping that February goes better than January for so many reasons!

Your metabolic rate would increase if you build more muscle.

I have a target - we are going abroad this year and I can't wait! Smile

Kikisdeliveries · 31/01/2018 15:10

Boop quim same here! Size 6 but 8 runners. Definitely worth going to a proper running place to get checked out.

TheDonald · 31/01/2018 17:43

Yes definitely get your feet measures at a proper running shop. One with a treadmill so they can watch you run.

I lost a couple of toenails a few years ago because I bought the wrong size. They were in the sale and felt ok so I thought I'd risk it. Big mistake!

twinkledag · 31/01/2018 18:34

I'm a size 6.5 but wear an 8 in my running trainers.

Thanks Quim. Still a long way from where I was last summer but determined to get there!

lastqueenofscotland · 31/01/2018 19:09

Seeing potential new man again next weekend.. can you lose 80kabilliom stone in 10 days??

NewYearNiki · 31/01/2018 19:24

Again is the operative word last. He has already seen you once. Dont worry.

I have a been a bit swallow. Have been talking to a guy on tinder for a while. Finally gave me his number and found him on Facebook and instagram.

His photos on tinder hid him or were old. In his current photos he is like really fat. Like obese. Enormous double chin for example. I feel so shallow but ya know. I dont find it attractive.

Oh well.

lastqueenofscotland · 31/01/2018 20:01

Niki i find it really unattractive too Blush

Still it's a bit of a kick up the bum for me to have a golden week

NewYearNiki · 31/01/2018 20:06

Ive just stopped talking to the guy Blush

Where are you going last?

lastqueenofscotland · 31/01/2018 21:58

I think we are going to a swish bar in a swish bit of the city we live in.
Where I'm sure we will be very out of place with both of us having broad accents!!

NewYearNiki · 31/01/2018 22:19

Broad Scots?! Grin

Sounds cool. I havent been on a date since last month

I noticed an autocorrect fail on my post. I put swallow instead of shallow. Blush
