It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

JD didn’t work for me either Rachey. A strict diet and strong pain meds were a bad combo and I ended up being really sick, as in throwing up all my medication, and then I got an infection in my gum. I was such an idiot. So I haven’t weighed myself because I just need to eat to make the antibiotics and pain meds work. I’ve been eating healthier but I’ve two days of meds left so I’ll see how I feel on Weds about trying JD again.

Pom you are doing so well. What sort of meals are you eating? I’m definitely on for a strict January, and I plan not to go too wild over Christmas.

Sorry you were so upset Pom, it’s very frustrating joe easy weight goes on and how hard it can be to shift. Your meals sound healthy, do you cook from scratch a lot? I never feel like doing it when I get in from work.

What are you all wearing over Christmas? I need to go and buy a few outfits but I haven’t seen anything that I like yet.

Ugh, better get up for work. Have a great day everyone.

I think you should just concentrate on getting well Sol. Maybe it would be better to just stick to healthy choices? And let your body recover? Hope you are much better soon.

How are you Rachey. Sorry you’ve been so upset. Have you sorted anything with work yet?

Christmas prep isn’t going well here. I’m trying to do decorating today and hopefully wrapping tomorrow. Too many events going on at school etc! I’m planning on getting most things sorted this week.

Morning all,

I've been doing really badly. I'm not even attempting to diet till new year. I'm not in the right mentality.

sol how are you feeling now? I hope you were kind to yourself to heal and get better?

green how are things with you? Did you finish the decorating?

pom are you on target to lose the 7lbs?

I need to work on a diet plan in the new year that I can stick to.

Exante- too extreme?
Ww - too flexible?
5:2 - does it work ? I've never stuck to it long enough to know
Sw- not for me. Can't attend every week and hate all that happy clappy crap
Body coach - I know it works. Just a lot of cooking and not very sociable.

Argh it's so bloody hard

Hope you are feeling better Sol.
Hope you are not so upset Rachey
Hope you are all good Green.

Let’s do 5:2 Rachey but I think we need to limit calories on the other days ...

Morning all.

I’m thinking of just letting go of any hope of being skinny by Christmas and just eating better. I had a feckin quinoa salad last night! My dental surgeries are all done now and I feel much better. I’m not going to pig out over Christmas so I’ll try and limit the damage.

Rachey you have listed all my previous diets too. How much time and money I have wasted on them all!

Pom 2lbs could just be a bit of bloating. Maybe the 2lbs will be gone by now if it’s just from the weekend.

Thanks for the kind words and good advice Green, how are you getting on?

Is everyone set for Christmas? I still have my food shop to do. I’m half dreading it as we are hosting this year and it’s so expensive.

Glad you feel better Sol. Hope your shop is not too expensive. They had turkey crowns in m and s for around £12. Quite a few deals around.

I am currently having a croissant and a cappuccino. I think my week off has started Grin although o am going to try and have a couple of good days, on the days with no social plans.
Still not finished my Christmas shopping 🛍
Eek! Think will need to go out first thing on Saturday morning.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Sol - also noticed lots of deals with bags of veg for 40p although not sure you have an m and s. Do you have a Tesco?

Coffee and croissant is a good way to start the day Pom. Did you get all your shopping done yesterday?

I’m getting ready to do my food shopping this morning, list is being compiled and I aim to be back by 10.30. My DH picked up a turkey from Aldi the other day so at least we have one thing off the list, he also got me a box of wine, he’s a keeper Grin

We spent all last night wrapping the kids presents, I was obsessed with them all having the same number of presents even though the sizes vary. I remember my Mum being like that when me and my siblings were younger and I always thought she was just fussy, I totally get it now.

I’m going to do one last weigh in tomorrow morning and then not think of the scales until the 28th. I’ll try and stick to my plan of having soup for one meal per day as I really enjoy it and I think it stops me going too wild.

Is everyone else nearly ready for the big day?

Oh god I'm the size of a house. No clothes fit and I actually look huge. My double chin is back 🙈
2019 is where I get my act together.

I hope you all had a great Christmas?

Size of a house here too Rachey. I just caught my side on reflection as I was putting DS2 in the bath, I look proper pregnant. I’m starting on Jan 1st, I’ve two family dinners to attend before New Years so there’s no point starting before.

I think we should start a new motivational thread for the new year.

Did everyone have a good Christmas? Ours was lovely, not too busy and the kids have had a great time.
