My BMR is completely fucked, an internet calculation can't allow for someone who can hardly walk and whose body is intent on doing anything it possibly can, wrong Grin (yesterday I got the news that my retinal nerves are growing myelin, for a recent example)

Which is my explanation for why I struggle to lose weight on so many other diets. For me it has to be make do with broth and sadness, or it ain't going anywhere!!

And trust me, with a history of disordered eating I tried everything else first. But I need a serious calorie deficit to lose

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 11:34

Picked a random calculator, and my bmr is apparently 1810.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!! 🤣

HairsprayBabe · 03/05/2017 11:40

Grin Broth and Sadness Diet (TM)

I am thinking of a book deal if you want to get in on that Beyond

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 11:49

Sounds like a plan, hairspray 👍

HairsprayBabe · 03/05/2017 11:51

This time next year we'll be millionaires, slender millionaires!

FreeNiki · 03/05/2017 11:55

Two separate BMR calculators say 1420 or 1350

That's only a difference of 70 calories so pretty accurate Confused

Average it out at about 1400 for bmr.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 12:46

Just had lunch - mushroom risotto, broccoli and cauliflower, and then a whitworth toffee and pecan shot (one of my favourite foods ever!). Casserole will be for dinner (followed by the other half a punnet of strawberries) as it's already made and DH has loads to do this evening :)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/05/2017 12:53

Hairspray's one says BMR = 1325, TDEE = 1590/1822 depending on whether I put sedentary or lightly active. Someone with a TDEE of 2000 calories doing 5:2 and eating 5x2000 + 2x500 would have a calorie deficit across the week of 3000 calories. If I do 1200 a day I have a calorie deficit across the week of 2730 (with lower TDEE) - so 1200 ought to be absolutely fine for me if I'm not exercising too much. If I whack up the exercise I can afford another couple of hundred calories - ie, eat back exercise.

HairsprayBabe · 03/05/2017 12:55

I thought you should never eat your exercise back?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/05/2017 13:15

So did I! But that's the difference between TDEE, I suppose - how much exercise you're doing. I also suspect that when I do 5:2 or No S the reason I don't lose is because I probably eat way over 1590 on normal days. So I guess tracking is the way to go even if it is boring until I get used to smaller portions.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/05/2017 13:24

I would also imagine that if you exercise for hours and hours a day you need more to function than someone who is sedentary...

That's my excuse anyway

BitOutOfPractice · 03/05/2017 13:41

Hello! I turn my back for one morning and the thread has gone all "here's the science bit" on my ass! Shock

I am the opposite of Quim in that I need to keep grinding on through weeks and weeks of 1200 calories a day without so much as the sniff of a treat or I just cannot get back on the wagon after a blow out.

I sound like a whole bundle of laughs don't I?

Beyond I'm sorry to hear your retinal nerves are playing silly beggars Sad

TV that's a brilliant result! Don't bother getting that shirt altered just yet would be my advice Grin

It is a struggle when you are near to food all day, over coming the filing cabinet of treats at work was a big deal for me, could you try gum or something so if you want to eat something there is already something else in your mouth?

BSD works but you have to stick to it, I am hoping for a good loss this month, I have a night out 3rd of June with old school friends, they are all much slimmer than me and I often feel like the mantee of the group.

But if I am 10st ish by then I will be almost the same weight as them put together so won't stick out so much

FreeNiki · 03/05/2017 14:59

Hairspray I feel your pain.

That is the one saving grace of being off work, no biscuits.

It was hell when I was there. A birthday every week.

TVHubbyClaire · 03/05/2017 16:13

BOOP I was reliving memories of being in science class... Sad I hated science...couldn't wait to drop physics as a subject...

I did get a bit curious though and googled them....think I need 1450 calories to do nothing and 1750 for my embarassingly low exercise lifestyle.

Like Quim and Hairspray I do like to care a bit less at weekends though

Hairspray you will resemble a rake come 3rd June Smile

runningtogetskinny · 03/05/2017 17:34

Goodish day so far, soup for lunch and chicken with frozen Yorkshire puddings and veg for tea. However, I ate 3 small toffees during a very boring training session Confused

dementedma · 03/05/2017 19:30

3 days in and a Linda down. Had a shed load of vegetables tonight, and no alcohol. Just got to keep at it. It's going to be a slow process.

Squiffy01 · 03/05/2017 19:35

Welcome to all the new people on the thread!

Another day on track Smile if I don't lose anything this week I will be gutted!

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 19:50

Just hit my step goal and I'm on 797 cals for the day. Boo ya!!

Stellar67 · 03/05/2017 19:50

Beyond I admire your humour with your health troubles. My health isn't the best. Yet I did a headstand today just to show it I'm in charge. Ha. Grin

BeyondStrongAndStable · 03/05/2017 19:52

Thank you stellar. Shit happens, I'm in a much better place now than I have been in the past Flowers

You show that bastard who's boss!! Grin

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 03/05/2017 21:01

Had an distinctly un-golden end to my "fast" day today. I ended up staying late at work and by the time I left I was completely starving, so I got chips on the way home Blush. Still works out at about 1000 calories in total for the day so not TOO awful. Tomorrow will be better though. I'm going to get up early and cycle to work or at least I will try to
