Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

Well done MegB!

I was also down 2 pounds this morning, but I have been watching myself very closely over the last few days. Just had a very healthy salad lunch and am already planning what to have for dinner that will help to consolidate the weight loss rather than undo it! Halo

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 26/04/2017 12:29

Also...the big question for me. I don't find it too hard to eat healthily, most of the time. It's the booze that is my downfall (and the cheese that sometimes follows the wine Blush).

Anyone got tips on how to resist the lure of the alcohol after a long day at work, sorting out the home stuff and dealing with two busy, sometimes demanding teenagers and a husband who thinks the end of the day at work is the end of needing to do anything other than watch tv?

Giddyaunt18 · 26/04/2017 12:48

Always it's just a habit and habits can be broken. After 2 years of dry January I now only drink Fri to Sun and it doesn't occur to me to drink in the week. Just substitute it and do something different like have a bath /pamper instead. Your skin improves no end! I am down 2 lbs today too. Am at end of my period so that has helped but been really good last few days ,NO snacking and smaller portions and a pint of water before eating.

Giddyaunt18 · 26/04/2017 12:50

Always Use a lovely wine glass and get some lovely adult cordials and make a spritzer with sparkling water or slimline tonic with ice and a slice. This helped me kick the habit.

3dogsnorth · 26/04/2017 13:08

Hi I was in a similar situation to some of you at the beginning of the year. No one would have classed me as overweight but I knew I'd be happier if I was half a stone lighter.

On my FB page I kept seeing posts and videos from a local company about nutrition and weight loss. They just made perfect sense so I joined up in January and have lost and kept off my half stone.

If anyone wants to have a look it's called 30 day fat loss program from food for fitness based in Aberdeen. Low cost, great online support and inches and pounds lost!

NewYearNewNickname · 26/04/2017 13:49

Wow, lots more newbies Smile

Good couple of days here, seriously hoping to pull back the gain from the weekend. I have also signed up for a Jillian Michaels dietbet!! Was quite an impulse thing, saw it on my IG feed and did the photos and email straight away yesterday. The target is 4% of your body weight which for me is 5.7lbs and it ends a couple of days before I go on holiday in May half term so hopefully it will keep up the motivation!!!

I would recommend the same as Giddy re reducing wine in the week. I find the Belvoir Elderflower fizzy one can be a good low cal substitute for a nice glass of white during the week plus just try to keep reminding yourself you can have wine in a couple of days time Wine

Thanks guys and well done New! Weight being lost all over the place.

I haven't had a glass of wine yet this week, so I will try to get through tonight and tomorrow! I also do dry January and don't find that difficult. It's just the weekly grind of being knackered by Wednesday that does me in! I know that less wine does equal more energy the next day, so I'll try to keep that in mind.

Good luck to everyone else for a healthy eating, dry evening!!

PaintingOwls · 26/04/2017 17:55

I've been diligent with tracking my meals on MyFitnessPal and a pattern is emerging: 60-75% of my calories are coming from carbs! Time to re-visit the old meal plan...

Chocolatecake12 · 26/04/2017 23:21

Grrrrr I weighed in today and hadn't lost a single oz. so de moralising as I've tried hard and upped my walking this past week.
I've been weighing myself on a Wednesday evening at my mums as she has scales and I don't but I've just ordered some and so will start again when they arrive and weigh in of a morning.

wrinkleseverywhere · 27/04/2017 00:06

A good day today.
Lunch - sliced chicken, ham, cheese & salad
Supper - French onion soup
Snacks - pear, apple, banana, handful grapes, 3 slivers Stilton.
V hungry now so off to bed!

PaintingOwls · 27/04/2017 07:42

Weighed in at 67.2 this morning, this is the lowest I've been in years! It's 10 grams less than yesterday, but I don't care, I'm taking it!Grin

I feel really motivated now, last night I was annoyed that I had reached my calorie limit. I really wanted an ice cream, but stopped myself. This morning feels like confirmation of self control actually WORKING!!

NewYearNewNickname · 27/04/2017 09:00

Bet that feels great Painting Grin I'm also feeling very motivated this week but starting to think about how to keep it up over the bank holiday without feeling deprived!

Try not to let it get you down Chocolate, although I know that is easier said than done! I would definitely agree with morning weigh ins. I never weigh myself unless it is first thing in the morning, straight aftrr having been to the loo and before so much as a drop of tea has passed my lips!

No wine since Sat here so thinking I might try and keep that up Fri & Sat and then have a glass on Sun but we'll see how that works out!!

Am I too late to join? I'm just under 5 foot and 7 stone 11, I'm aiming to get down to 7 st 6lb. I'm a very slight frame, and a few pounds on or off seems to make a huge difference.
Big sunny holiday in 5 weeks and I'd love to feel more comfortable in shorts or swimsuit. 1lb per week should be achievable I think, if I stay away from bread and Easter eggs!

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 27/04/2017 13:22

Oh Chocolate try not to be despondent. If you keep going you will definitely see results sooner or later. And I second New that you should weigh yourself in the morning after the loo and before ANY food or drink! I weigh myself every day, which I know isn't always a good thing, but it can be too depressing to weigh once a week if your weigh in day follows a day off the wagon!

Thanks to everyone for the advice about how to resist the booze. I actually did drink wine last night, just a small glass after dinner, but thankfully my weight had held steady today. I have a late meeting tonight so will be able to resist alcohol today at least.

Welcome beady and good luck.

Giddyaunt18 · 27/04/2017 14:03

Still down 2 lb this morning so yesterday's weight wasn't a fluke hopefully. I am still eating more or less the same(quite a healthy eater anyway) but NO SNACKS AT ALL! iI's a bit of an eye opener really because I am really hungry at meal times and normally i'm just peckish. Makes me realise I must be mindlessly picking at more than I thought.

oohloolala · 27/04/2017 16:18

Massively late to the party but can I join? I need to lose 11lb!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 27/04/2017 21:17

Ooh I just started a new thread about losing 8lbs in 8 weeks then saw this!!
Can I join please?
I currently weigh 10 stone and want to get down to 9 stone 6lbs by mid June (when I go on holiday).

I know I need to stop eating chocolate/ biscuits / crisps etc, drink more water & do more exercise.
I'll weigh myself once a week on a Monday morning and check in here - you're now my motivation!!

wrinkleseverywhere · 27/04/2017 22:10

Some good losses being reported. Painting that must be a good feeling!
A mixed day here.
Breakfast was a thin cinnamon bagel
Lunch was half a mango & an M&S (individual) trifle Hmm
Supper was a duck leg in plum sauce with veg.
Snacks were an apple, 3 carrots, some radishes, some of the cod, cauliflower & broccoli off the kids' plates at tea, two mini creme eggs & a toffee,
No exercise

Morning all! Friday weigh in here....

Starting weight 10st 4.6lbs
Last Friday (21st) 10st 1.4lbs
Weight today 10 st 0.8lbs

Not a great loss but considering the weekend I had I am pleased I managed to pull it back!!

I have come up with another tip for those of us who like a glass of wine, drink from a prosecco / champagne flute as the glass is much smaller!

First ever body pump class booked for later. DH doing it with me so no getting out of it!!!

Welcome to the newbies

That's good New Year :-)

Weighing in - have been super good since the weekend, v small and healthy meals x 3 with one fruit n nut snack ( the real things not the chocolate bar sadly) about 4pm to keep me going. Done pilates, metafit and yoga ( the woman thinks I'm stalking her) this week and gone from 10 4.4 last Friday to 10 1.4 yay!

I had a gin n slimline in the pub last night then topped up with another slimline tonic which was nice and apparently lots lower cals than my usual vat of white wine. At home, I'm measuring wine!!

Happy Friday everyone

Chocolatecake12 · 28/04/2017 11:22

Well done newyear any loss is a bonus no matter how small.
I went out for dinner last night and had soft drinks instead of wine and no dessert so feeling proud of myself for that.
I'm finding this thread really helpful - so nice to be able to come on here and share highs and low. It's really helping to keep me focused so thank you all!

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 28/04/2017 12:50

Well done New and Butler.

My starting weight was 11 st 8 back in December.

Today I was 10 st 5.

Sounds good but it's actually a 2 lb gain on last Friday Hmm Due to the Wine Wine I expect.

Wish me luck for next Friday. I plan to be 10 st 3 by then!!

Good luck to everyone for keeping going over the weekend. Keep those roast potatoes off your plates ladies! Wink

buggerthebotox · 28/04/2017 13:09

Can I join? I'm not a weigher but I've lost enough to get back to a 12.

I need to finally lose my belly. I've just bought a non-stretchy pair of office trousers in a 12 - will I get into them? You bet!

I do weights and 10,000 steps. Sometimes I struggle with that (finding time, mainly).

My arms are out in the fresh air for the first time in years!

So far I've had 2 cups coffee, 2 fish fingers, some sweet corn, a jelly pot, and a Pringle.

I'm a picker.

Tea will be 2 slices Marmite on toast and a jellypot. That leaves some room for a bit of a nibble later on. Wink

Giddyaunt18 · 28/04/2017 14:41

Hi all, after 2lb off midweek I wasn't expecting anymore yet. I weigh daily and today another pound off. So I'm at 9st 13. I know this will slow right down now but I feel so sensible as this is the first time I haven't 'dieted' I have simply cut out all snacks, even fruit, I now eat my fruit straight after a meal. I am keeping portions in check and walking briskly daily with the dog as usual. Not going to drink tonight but am tomorrow as we are out. Hope that doesn't scupper it!
