Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

There is an awful lot of chocolate in our house Sad

MercyMyJewels · 18/04/2017 18:07

Me too. Planning bigger dog walk in morning, gym after work, no crisps or wine or cheese (major weakness). Bed early during the week

Need to shift about a stone. I can drop half a stone very easily but it also goes back on very easily

TronaldDump · 18/04/2017 18:34

I'll join you. 5' 4" and currently about 63.5kg - ideally I want to be about 60kg so 3kg or so to lose (that's about 6/7lbs I think). I lost it about 9 months ago and it's crept back on - I used to sustain about 61kg quite easily But since DS2 it's got harder and harder and I don't want this extra half stone or so to become the new 'normal'.

We've all been ill recently but I need to stop the excuses, exercise more and pull my finger out to make healthy food from scratch!

tinydancer88 · 18/04/2017 20:00

Finished off the last of the Easter chocolate in one go just now Blush

Booked onto 2 gym classes tomorrow; just need to stop getting to the evening and thinking sod it...

NewYearNewNickname · 18/04/2017 21:46

Wow I wasn't expecting so many people! Just reading through this has made me feel quite accountable and stopped me from answering yes when DH said "Shall I pop out and get us a bottle of wine" so you have all already contributed to positive decision making Grin

Not too bad here today, have had some of the tons of Easter choc in the house (a one bar Kinder Beuno and a small piece of a white choc bunny) but also took the dog for a 3.5 mile walk so hoping that the two balance each other out!

I am a very regular weigher but will post my weight once a week, probably on a Friday.

Acornatics I really want to try Pump but am a bit scared!! Partly because when I sneak a peek through the windows they seem to have so much equipment that I wouldn't know what to do and partly because I'm not sure I have the strength. I do circuits / total body boot camp, balance, occasional attack and I swim so have a fairly ok level of fitness. Had you done any weights before going to Pump?

My day went badly diet-wise but I'm determined to start tomorrow. The children are finally back in school and there are no sweets left.

I'm planning to do what I did before (I lost 32lbs last year but have put 8 back on), so it's back to My Fitness Pal, 1200 cals a day, and exercise 3 times a week.

BusterTheBulldog · 18/04/2017 23:05

You would be fine at pump new just get there a bit early and ask the instructor what you should have. It's basically a bench, a mat, a bar with plate weights for either end and sometimes plates you'll need to hold without the bar too. I had never touched weights really until pump but once you know the track order it becomes easy to know when you can go lighter or heavier.

Well done on wine resisting too!

FlyingSquid · 18/04/2017 23:09

I'm in too! Could do to lose about 3kg - not a lot, but it's crept on since Christmas and it's all on the midriff, which isn't great.

Thistle72 · 18/04/2017 23:16

Can I join too please? I'm 5ft 7 ins and weigh 10 8. I was 10.2 about a month ago by simply reducing my sugar intake and just generally eating more of a vegetarian diet but I have fell off the wagon following DP's birthday 1 month ago and struggling to get back on it!!!! 😐😐😐

Buck3t · 18/04/2017 23:23

Me too please. 5.2 9st 13 1/2lbs Would like to lose 12-14lbs.

I drink one glass of juice a day but don't drink enough water otherwise. Don't drink tea or coffee or fizzy drinks (other than fizzy water). Trying to up my water intake.

Have gotten lazy over Easter and have not exercised at all. Normally do 5 days a week.

Rockinghorsehay · 19/04/2017 07:14

Yes please. Have gradually been losing my baby weight over last year through careful eating & lots of exercise. Have a few pounds still to go and also need to tone up!

Aducknotallama · 19/04/2017 07:20

Me too please. Am 59kg and would love to get to 55kg by summer. Previously lost a lot of weight and kept it off but can't seem to shift the last few kg. Am doing low carb, started yesterday and upping my exercise.

Chocolatecake12 · 19/04/2017 07:33

Well I can't say that the day has started particularly well. Breakfast was what I had in the house so 2 slices white bread toasted with butter and jam.
I'm planning on shopping on my way home from work so will get healthier options for the rest of the week.
I have just managed 12 sit ups - no excuse for a baby belly 10 years on........

Ecureuil · 19/04/2017 08:25

I cleared ate the Easter chocolate out yesterday so today is day 1! Starting the day with poached egg, avocado and chilli on a slice of wholemeal toast.

littlemissM92 · 19/04/2017 08:27

Acorn our weight now and goal weight is exactly the same come on let's do this!

ppeatfruit · 19/04/2017 08:48

The best (easiest) flat belly exercise EVER!!!!

  1. Lie flat on a firm surface arms by your sides (i do this on my bed).
  1. Count to 5 or 6 slowly and lift the top part of your body up the same number of cms. HOLD it for the count of 5 or 6 . IMPORTANT; KEEP YOUR HEAD IN LINE WITH YOUR SPINE (don't poke it forward or leave it hanging behind).
  1. Relax down slowly to the same count.
  1. Repeat 3 times at night and morning.

This really works because it activates our belly muscles and they continue to burn up energy throught the night. You can bring up your arms for extra difficulty and or hold it longer (or shorter if you're just starting).

PaintingOwls · 19/04/2017 08:59

I'll join! I also have a DP who can eat what he likes and stays slim.

I am 168cm and 69kg, and would like to lose 9kg. In reality 4kg to start would be nice as I know that I'll have to work hard to lose 9.

For me the motivation was finding photos from 12-18 months ago when I was 62kg and my face looks completely different! Now I have the beginning of a double chin and you can't really see my cheekbones.

I have taken up running, but gained a kilo over Easter. I am at work all day on weekdays so only get a chance to exercise at the weekends at the moment. I'm considering becoming one of those lunatics who wakes up at 5am to exercise!

NewYearNewNickname · 19/04/2017 09:08

Writing it all down definitely makes me feel more accountable which is good. I am really not a morning person at all but as DH has the children today I went for a swim before work and did 40 lengths (1k) in 22 mins 40 secs which is my fastest time ever so feeling very chuffed with myself!

Ecureuil that is my favorite breakfast. Sounds much more appealing than the bowl of bran flakes I will be eating at my desk shortly!!

Have a good day everyone

Hello

Me too! I'm 10.6 and 5ft 4 and would like to get to 10.2 by half term. So roughly a lb a week.

Going high protein, low carb.

Acornantics · 19/04/2017 12:44

littlemiss let's do it! I'm focusing on low carb but not restricting myself too much as that will make me angry and resentful! What's your plan?

I tend to have Greek yoghurt and fruit or porridge for breakfast, large salad with chicken for lunch at work and homemade chilli/fishcakes/spag/chicken for tea. My downfall is letting go at weekends and enjoying wine etc...

nigelforgotthepassword · 19/04/2017 12:45

I had a bananas and an apple for brrakfast, now eating some skinny carrot soup from Aldi, (190 calories for the lot plus only a quid and quite nice-bonus).
Scrambled eggs with low milk and a bit of salmon for tea.and probably some fruit.
So not bad but I'm starving and would very much like a hot cross bun, of which there are several going begging in the office kitchen.

Acornantics · 19/04/2017 12:50

new I'd say the most important thing is technique with Body Pump as vital to protect your back. Start with light weights and study your form in the mirror, if anything feels wrong, adjust or ask for advice. Most classes follow the same patterns: warm up, legs, chest, back, triceps, more legs, then shoulders, and the exercises for each muscle group stay the same so once you've learnt them, that's the hard bit done!

You sound pretty fit anyway, so pump will be fine, but prepare for burning quads/glutes after several rounds of reps!

littlemissM92 · 19/04/2017 13:35

Breakfast is usually weetabix/ readybrek / porridge

Lunch 1 slice toast with beans natural yoghurt with an apple and plum in it.
Then chocolate chocolate more chocolate which I need to knock on the bloody head!
Dinner tonight is sausages without a roll corn on cob big salad new potatoes low fat coleslaw then nothing else shall pass my lips!
Oh I get angry too it's so bad ha ha

tinydancer88 · 19/04/2017 14:49

Been for a run this morning - had fruit and yogurt for breakfast and an omelette for lunch. So far so good!

TheLittleFoxes · 19/04/2017 15:12

Breakfast was raspberries with natural yoghurt.

Lunch was piri piri chicken, roast veg couscous and salad.

Dinner is Chinese cashew chicken with noodles (used up a lot of syns on this).

Also: several cups of tea and a banana.
