Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

Well done herbie

Herbie58 · 27/06/2017 12:24

Thank you ladies! It's nice to feel some progress - keeps the motivation up.

I can't recall who asked how I've been doing it? A mixture of things. I don't eat after I've had my evening meal, and continue that fast until 12pm the next day. It's kind of 16:8 IF. I don't like breakfast anyway - so it made sense for me to do this.

I have a slender blend protein shake and fruit for lunch. Mainly because I'm better if I stick to a routine at lunch - give me too much choice and I'll eat all the pies and it sets off a binge.

Then for dinner I have what I want really. But it's mainly healthy and low carb. Courgette noodles, lots of veg, fish and chicken - but jazzed up with herbs and spices (for example yesterday I wrapped a cod fillet, asparagus spears and a dollop of Philadelphia chive in two slices of Parma ham and baked it in the oven and just had broccoli with chilli flakes with it. Even the meat and two veg DP liked it! 😆

I did seem to stick for a few week and even gained, so I started weighing portions, logging everything on MFP and started Gillian Michaels ripped in 30 DVD. X

OwlinaTree · 27/06/2017 19:43

2.5lb off for me this week (well fortnight as I didn't weigh last week). Going to try to lose another 4.5lb to get to 9st and then see how I feel.

Herbie58 · 28/06/2017 10:02

Well done @OwlinaTree! That's a great loss! Wish I could see a few pounds a week

OwlinaTree · 28/06/2017 14:24

It's getting harder now herbie. Prior to this week id been stuck, only lost half a lb in the last 3 weeks, so I was due a big loss. I aim for 1lb a week, and in 40 weeks I've lost 43.5lb so it's about right!

Bumblebzz · 28/06/2017 18:26

That's is amazing Owlina!

For those doing IF, do you think doing 15:9 or even 14:10 is of any help?
I don't always manage the full 16:8 and I find by 11am at work I need to eat or I can't concentrate (new job so it's all a bit intense and difficult). Haven't weighed in a while now so will wait until Monday.
Clothes still comfy though and (this is probably me being weird...) when I fold my arms I feel less "fleshy". Hard to describe really but it's something I've really noticed!
X

theredjellybean · 29/06/2017 13:30

wow...owl that is such an achievement
well done everyone..i have been a bit off the boil this week and eating too much but only gained 0.6 kg.
I am getting hungrier now i am running more/longer distances which is hard.
But I keep thinking that if i hadnt joined the thread and kept reading i would probably have gained 8.5 odd pounds rather than losing it...so even though it hasnt been an amazing amount of weight given the time frame, it is better then the gradual gain that was happening.

so all of you...remember what you have lost instead of gained..:)

Bumblebzz · 29/06/2017 14:15

So true!

Bambamrubblesmum · 29/06/2017 17:19

I've got 2 stone to lose am I okay to join?

Mostly post babies weight. I'm now in the right heads pace to do it.

I'm 5'3
Starting weight 11st 1lb
Current weight 10 st 11lbs
Goal is 9 st

I've bought a fitbit which is literally changing my life Blush

Anyway hello everyone!

Orangecake123 · 29/06/2017 18:57

Welcome Bambam!

Hope everyone else is feeling awesome ^^ !

I have no idea what my weight is at the moment. I've been away for around 10 days just dealing with exam stress and haven't kept up with eating well or exercising either. Going to start of slowly again maybe just a walk in the morning.

butlerchauffer · 30/06/2017 08:26

Morning, great to hear of some fab losses; agree maintaining / losing one week is only a blip - keep going! I've weighed in at 9 11.0 this morning so 7.4 lbs off in 10 weeks, slowly but surely. Achieved through No S ( not religiously but I do think the less sugar you have the less you want it ) & 3/4 classes of HIT / pilates / yoga pw as I think it's as important to be strong and toned (I'm not and always will be 'fleshy' ;-) btw ) but even posture wise it helps and makes you feel slimmer :-) Next aim 9 9 for bikini hol in 5 weeks, eek!

Bumblebzz · 30/06/2017 09:37

Wow well done butter that is a great achievement!
I have the munchies today (pmt) so not looking good but I'm cutting myself some slack...

Herbie58 · 30/06/2017 20:35

Amazing stories from some of you - your weight loses and exercise gives me motivation to keep going! Thank you!

@Bambamrubblesmum - welcome! I'm 5ft 3 too and weighed more than you did to begin with. You can do this!

Someone asked about IF? I do 16:8 and I really struggle with that hour between 11-12. The only way to get through it is to keep really busy otherwise I'd crack. But believe me, as soon as the clock hits 12 I'm on my protein shake! 😂

It's TOTM for me too so I've stayed off the scales as I always go up a few pounds and I can't bear to see a 9 otherwise it will massively depress me so I will wait until I'm done with flo! X

Bambamrubblesmum · 01/07/2017 07:44

Hi everyone thanks for the welcome Flowers

My plan is to get to 9st then see how that suits me. But first stage is to lose a stone then take up running again which I used to enjoy. I've tried running at this weight and I just feel sluggish and heavy.

I've got very weak back and stomach muscles so trying to build up core strength again. Walking and toning are priority at the moment.

Well done everyone on your weightloss it's inspiring to know it can be done!!

Herbie58 · 03/07/2017 08:25

So I've had a TERRIBLE weekend. I ate all the pies. And the chocolate. And the Indian takeaway. And the booze. 😂. I can't even think about getting on the scales as I know just looking at my stomach that I've gained a few pounds. I've lost that lovely 8 🙈.

So, cleanse and starve for the next 48 hours then back on the diet wagon. Holiday is on 24th July, so really shouldn't have splurged - ruined all my good work. Hey ho....onwards and upwards!

Have a good week ladies!

PaintingOwls · 03/07/2017 12:34

Checking in at 63kg now... That's 6kg down Smile feeling good and hoping to go for a short run tonight!

theredjellybean · 03/07/2017 22:05

Herbie... I ate all the cake and pizza and crisps that you didn't get tooWinkbut you saved me from the booze and Indian by eating it first.
Today I ate all the pork pies
And have failed miserably to go running for 5 days....feel dreadful, berating myself as useless and weak willed.
Must run tomorrow.
I also go on holiday on 24 th

Bambamrubblesmum · 03/07/2017 22:50

You had to mention Indian takeaway didn't you!! Envy really craving that at the moment.

So I lost another 1lb, so that's 5lbs in total so far in about 3 weeks ish. Down to 10st 10lbs. Will I ever see 9st Confused feels a very long way away.

I've started the 5:2 which seems to be helping. Once I get to 10st I'm going running. I've promised myself!

Agoddessonamountaintop · 03/07/2017 23:42

Hello! May I jump in? REading a few of these posts, I feel I have much in common; need to loseabout 10lbs which will get me down to 10st, then will see whether I want or can be bothered to aim for my 'ideal' weight of about 9 1/2st (haven't been that weight for about 7 years - and then it was undone in a fortnight by an all-in holiday!) Anyway, have lost three pounds in the last month, aiming for 1300 cals a day (am 54 so has to be quite low) and going to the gym two or three times a week. I've started couch to 5k on the treadmill and will be doing w3 day1 tomorrow. When I can do the full 20 min run I'll go outside but I find the stop/start thing embarrassing in public - although I know full well that no one's really looking at me!

theredjellybean · 04/07/2017 10:25

goddess and bambam....get those trainers on and get outside for a run...come on you can do it...studies have shown running outside wears off more calories than on a treadmill...and as we know every one of those little calorie blighters count.

Goddess i run 10 km regularly and still have to stop/start for first 3 km ( it is all up steep hill) and i am embarressed if pasted by a car, so that motivates me to keep running, i tell myself ' juts keep going until that car passes you '...it makes the distance pass by quite quickly.

Bam...now why are you waiting for a certain weight ? you will get there quicker with a bit of running...it is no easier if you run weighing 10 st than if you run weighing 10 st10...honestly.

I am a running convert ..used to be 15 stone and never moved...lost 4 stone 6 yrs ago , and still did no exercise but got persuaded to run by friend for charity and have run weighing 11st 7 lbs and have run weighing 9 st 10 lbs ( my lightest ever weight) believe me it made no difference.
What makes a difference is consistency, perseverance and gentle building up distances run.
I started with a 1 km loop and was sick in the hedge three times the first time i ran it :)

This morning out running, glorious sunshine, peaceful fields and felt like i was only person awake ( i probably was - it was 5 am ) ...it was magic.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 04/07/2017 10:46

Thanks jellybean, you're a shining example! I agree about running for weightloss; I did c25k a few years ago and it seems to be the only thing guaranteed to kickstart weightloss and jeep it going. I also loved the sprightly, wide-awake feeling. I stopped when I got a chest infection, but really regretted not going back to it.
My gym is actually next to a canal with a lovely path, which I have run along a few times but it's the damn walkers looking at me that put me off Grin. I think I'll gird my loins and Just Do It today.

theredjellybean · 04/07/2017 12:11

oh goddess..i am honestly not , and hope i did not come over all mrs smugbean....i also have stop started with running and yes agree something like an infection stops you for a few weeks and it can then be months before you get back into it.
and the early morning thing is just me....i am always awake by 4;30or 5 am but have to go to bed by 8:30 .pm...

maybe run with sunglasses on...they can see you but they cannot see your eyes and cannot see the 'omg what am i doing' look in them..when i have to stop, i pretend i am tying my shoelace or changing music on my ipod..( actually gasping my last breath)

Agoddessonamountaintop · 04/07/2017 18:54

Sorry Jellybean I really wasn't being sarky! I do admire anyone getting out and running, especially early in the morning. My plan didn't work out today as I had to wait in for a delivery, so tomorrow it is. Will try and do a vid of some sort later.

Bumblebzz · 04/07/2017 23:07

I've eaten all the ice cream today and at the weekend due to hormonal issues :0
(Does anyone have a solution to this!? I can be good all month and then lose the plot)
However I've started cycling to work which is about 24km round trip so I'm hoping that will offset a tiny bit. On the days I don't cycle I'm trying to jog 5/6km to the station.
Must get back on the wagon properly though, my holiday is also drawing closer!

Bambamrubblesmum · 05/07/2017 05:34

Hi jelly, yep definitely looking forward to getting back to running. At the moment I'm looking for fat burning, so to stay in the right heart rate zone I need to walk. Running puts me in to the anaerobic rather than aerobic zone so I'm not burning as much fat. So I've set myself a marker of 10st to see if I can jog in the right HR zone.

Plus I need to build up my core stability (two c-sections have taken their toll and I've had lower back pain issues). So running is too high impact at the moment.

It is good though. I'm promising myself a set of wireless headphones when I hit 10st to get me out running again!!

Had a bad day yesterday. Pizza for lunch and Indian for tea - not good Sad. Going for a long walk today to burn off more calories
