Small amount to lose but want support?

NewYearNewNickname · 18/04/2017 08:04

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

A slice of toast for breakfast, a prawn wrap for lunch, snacking on cherry tomatoes (and had a wee bit of Easter choc). I've done a fair bit of walking today. Dinner will be Spanish omlette with salad.

I'm happy I managed to avoid the crisps and chip options at lunchtime,

Chocolatecake12 · 19/04/2017 19:50

I don't own any scales so once a week I weigh myself at my mums. That was today and I'm a lb lighter than I thought I was! So that cheered me up!
I went shopping after work and filled my trolley with salad stuff and healthier options.
I did have a small piece of cheesecake after my salad dinner but then went for a 30 minute brisk walk.
Resisted the chocolates at work today too!

NewYearNewNickname · 20/04/2017 07:42

Sounds like we all had a good day yesterday. I had a leaving do at the end of the day and managed to eat grapes instead of cake so was pretty pleased with that Smile

Will record my weight tomorrow and every Friday from then on.

I've weighed in at 10st 5. Yesterday I was slightly over cals. I don't drink so I really need to watch my sweet intake. Had ryvitas for breakfast which is enough for me as I rarely eat breakfast.

Planning porridge for lunch with fruit then lentil lasagne and spinach for tea.

Today's planned workout has gone to the dogs as DS has an ear infection so we have to go to the walk in centre.

PaintingOwls · 20/04/2017 10:23

This morning I was 67.9. Yesterday I was 69kg. It's infuriating how quickly and easily my weight changes, I seem to have about a kilo of water weight which fluctuates day to day and gives me false hope/the rage.

badgerread · 20/04/2017 10:39

Yes please! I'm 5'3 and 9'8. I'd like to lose 12 pounds by July.

wetcardboard · 20/04/2017 11:06

I have lost 10 pounds since mid february. It was easier than I thought it would be.

I cut out sugar almost completely, including "hidden" sugar in things like jarred sauces etc. I started cooking everything from scratch so I would be in control of everything I ate. This was the biggest adjustment I had to make, but once I got into a daily cooking routine it was fine.

I gave up snacking. If I was desperately hungry I'd have a few almonds or something, but I saw the urge to snack as a sign that my meals weren't adequate. I had to increase portion size for my meals to make up for the lack of snacks. I also focused on high-satiety foods - including lots of butter, cream, full fat milk etc.

That's it, really. The pounds fell off, and I'm still kind of in shock over how easy it was. I never felt like I was dieting - it was just readjusting my eating habits. I got DH to take a picture of me in underwear a few days ago, and compared it to the pic from february. Those extra 10 pounds made a huge difference since It was all belly fat. My stomach is almost completely flat again.

Breakfast fail-had three very small hollow dark chocolate eggs whilst I was running around cleaning up for the estate agent coming.
Half a tin of soup for lunch. Starving now so going to munch on some raw carrots.
Dog has had a Half an hour brisk walk and will take him again later.

I dare not weigh myself but I can tell I'm a half stone too heavy by the way my clothes are feeling.I don't trust my scales really anyway...

Acornantics · 20/04/2017 21:52

wet that sounds like an amazing achievement, well done!

Today wasn't low carb for me in any way...small bowl of muesli and a crumpet after waking up late and hungry, banana malt loaf, bloody pizza provided by work at late meeting over dinner and a small piece of cake at another meeting...ha! Bang go those good intentions!!

Joinourclub · 21/04/2017 00:31

Finding it very hard to resist the sugar. Had some Easter choc today. But had a healthy dinner, salad with beetroot, green beans, carrot, olives, tomatoes, radishes, lettuce and haloumi.

butlerchauffer · 21/04/2017 08:32

Joining :-) There must be loads of us of a similar shape out there! I'm 44, 5 5, 10 4 and want to be 9 7. I'm not sure how.. only ways that have worked for me before are weight watchers ( cba) and not eating much at all ( I'm hungry!) Any 'healthy' eating means I delude myself!! Will try peer pressure and the thought of checking in each week is motivating, thanks!Good luck everyone.

NewYearNewNickname · 21/04/2017 08:36

Friday morning weigh in - 10st 2.0lbs so down 2.6lbs. To be fair I think some of the starting weight was due to it being a couple of days before TOTM so the real loss will be less than that but chuffed all the same Smile

Five weeks today I will be in France for our half term hols so would really like to be 9st 10 by then.

Painting my weight can fluctuate from day to day too which is why I have come to realise that daily weighing works best for me. If I only weighed in once a week and it happened to be a higher day then I know that would knock my motivation. As it is I feel I can still see whether the general trend is downwards!

Day off today so have a 30 min HIIT class at 9.30, Acornatics and Buster I have given myself the goal of doing my first Pump class this week

Well done NewYear!

My SW weigh in is tomorrow but I usually do a mid-week weigh in at home and I think I've lost a 1.5lbs. I'm happy with that as it takes me under 10 and a half stones. I'm aiming to hit my target weight of 9st 12 by end of May.

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 21/04/2017 09:44

Weighed in this morning an I've lost 2lbs so down to 9st12. Which I ruined by having 4 of those little beer things from aldi and a 1/4 of Easter egg with DP watching a film on our one night off this week.
I have cut out sweets/chocolate up to now , upped my water in take from zero to a litre a day, which means I've cut back massively on fizzy drinks. I've realised that i cant do breakfast,if i eat breakfast i just want to keep eating,if i have a little oj and water I'm able to resist so much crap have a little lunch and good dinner. I need to stop eating late at night but we both work late nights and by the time I'm finished I'm famished Confused

FlyingSquid · 21/04/2017 10:12

I had an honest look at how often I've been having the 'one or two glasses of wine every so often'.

Answer - most evenings recently. I think I may have an easy starting point here.

ppeatfruit · 21/04/2017 10:35

Yes ahardman Eating late is terrible for putting on weight, I don't eat between 7pm and 8 to 9ish in the morning.

Dh has just lost a load of weight in 7 weeks; he's continued his Lent by not eating ANY bread or cereal at all! No wine and no chocolate! It's working well mind you he still has a lot more than a stone to lose!

Chocolatecake12 · 21/04/2017 11:43

Well done newyear

TheLittleFoxes · 22/04/2017 09:42

Just had my weigh in and have lost chuff all! Feeling really fed up now Sad

tinydancer88 · 22/04/2017 13:44

That's a shame Foxes - If it makes you feel any better I haven't lost anything yet either. I'm hoping it's just taking time and we both see something next weigh in.

Did a Body Pump class and walked to get the food shopping instead of driving (about an hour of walking plus carrying a massive rucksack full back). Cooking Indian food for dinner tonight - sag aloo and marinated chicken.

Chocolatecake12 · 22/04/2017 14:11

I'm struggling today to get motivated and eat healthily. Managed to take ds to McDonald's as he'd won a mcmuffin on the monopoly game and didn't have anything myself. Then came home had a couple of slices of wholeneal toast:
Since then I've had a cheese toastie for lunch and picked at cake and chocolate. It's not going great.
Any tips for keeping out of the chocolate tin and staying focused?

Acornantics · 22/04/2017 14:54

Did body pump earlier and upped the weights, it was tough but a good workout.

Eaten well (muesli before gym then scrambled eggs, chorizo and rocket wrap afterwards) and gardened for a couple of hours, piling up the spuds and speaking nicely to the raspberry canes.

Feel like some chocolate now...Wink

PaintingOwls · 22/04/2017 21:31

67.3kg this morning and I ran a 5k parkrun locally, I almost died but felt amazing afterwards. This might be my new Saturday routine.

PaintingOwls · 22/04/2017 21:34

Any tips for keeping out of the chocolate tin and staying focused?

Don't have it in the house. I limit how often I buy chocolate because I just eat it all, just because I can.

I also don't have cakes or biscuits in the house but do bake, so I can control how much sugar goes in.

tinydancer88 · 23/04/2017 08:27

I just don't buy or bring home anything I suspect I will scoff in one go. Can't trust myself!

Got up early to go for a run, now about to watch the marathon coverage on telly.

NewYearNewNickname · 23/04/2017 13:45

I agree with Painting and Tiny I just don't buy biscuits, chocolate etc to have in the house.

Went to a friend's for dinner last night and drank way too much Prosecco and wine so feeling like crap today which I am really annoyed with myself about.

Did walk loads yesterday but no gym. Have a circuits class booked for later but unless my head starts to feel better then I think I may have to cancel!! I put myself on the waiting list for my first Body Pump class tomorrow eve.

Re not losing anything I honestly don't think weight loss is a nice linear process. My weight definitely goes up and down a bit throughout the week so I'm sure if you stick to eating well and being active it will come. Plus as we are not actually "overweight" it is bounder to be a slower and more difficult process, hence having support for those last pounds is good!!
