Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

That's exactly my problem redjelly, it's become woven into my evening ritual. And then the 'fuck it' approach to food kicks in. I'm going to try burying myself in a book in the evenings after bedtimes to distract myself.

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 10:19

good plan....i don't know what you like reading but i am having a resurgence of margaret atwood at moment due to the fabulous tv adaptation of the hand maid's tale....her books are gripping enough to keep me away from the fridge !

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 10:20

and there is very little mention of wine or nice food in them as mostly based in grim dytopian futures so i dont start thinking 'ooh that sounds nice i fancy a snack' when i read them

Giddyaunt18 · 10/06/2017 11:00

That's great jelly and I love it when you get a bargain like that. I have good news too, another pound off at weigh-in this morning so now 9st 7.5lb/133.5 so only .5 of a pound from target!!! Although I am going to carry on to get to 9st 4 then I have a bit of room for comfortable fluctuations. I had fish n chips last night though it was half a portion with my DD but still plenty as they serve large amounts, but no alcohol. I am out for dinner tonight but yet to eat today so will only be eating twice. My skirt kept turning around on my waist yesterday as it's too big!!Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 10/06/2017 11:02

On the alcohol front, after doing dry jan for last 2 years, I drink far less, never on Mon to Thurs then I only want 2 to 3 drinks at weekend. Have reduced this to just Sat and Sun for last 8 weeks. Finding it surprisingly easy.

SleepFreeZone · 10/06/2017 11:03

Hiya everyone! I have only 3lbs to lost until goal at WW but just found out I'm pregnant and feel as though this is going to mean I won't get there 😬 I'm going a low carb version, so lots of low carb vegetables, fish, dairy and good oils. I've lost nearly two stone abs everything was going well until now!

I know I should just cancel my membership but I'm hugely keen to get to goal and then we won't have to pay but I'll still get my weight loss recognised. So somehow I've got to try and get this last three piybdcto shift before I get fat for other reasons.

Oh sleep congratulations, just eat normally as you only need 300 extra cals per day in the last 3 months.

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 11:14

sleep...welcome and congrats....i woudl agree ( and am a doctor) that you are perfectly safe to get last 3 lbs off as long as you are not starving yourself literally to do it.
I know this is naughty but maybe morning sickness will help :) i was 2 lbs heavier the day i had DD1 as i was the day i concieved...thank you morning sickness !!!!

on a serious note, i thought WW you could stay while pregnant but just not aim to lose weight ...which is frankly nonscence, as the reccomended weight gain for a pregnant lady is 7-10 lbs, and if you are already say 2-3 stone overweight you could lose a good portion of that while pregnant quite safely.

we wont tell anyone at WW you are pregnant...;0
just make sure oyu are eating a balanced diet, with all food groups , if oyu really want to low carb then try to include some whole grains and plenty of fibre from veg sources in your diet...you do not want constipation and pregnancy piles .

FitbitAddict · 11/06/2017 09:17

Well done on your loss giddy and congrats sleep

I was 10lbs down since Easter when I weighed on Friday morning. Since then I've eaten for England! However, I've just run 8.5k and I'll be fasting until dinner time so that's got to help repair some of the damage! I still have about 8.5lbs to lose before we go to Oman on 29 July. I need to run whatever the weather for the next seven weeks.

SleepFreeZone · 11/06/2017 09:51

Thank you 💐💐

To be honest I'm not convinced this pregnancy will go the distance anyway as I am old and have s history of miscarriage, so I don't want to throw the dirt towel in.

I'm a pound town this morning so just 2lb to go 😬

Hi all I have started either reducing lunch or going without it altogether - going to see how that pans out.

I definitely can't manage without breakfast and need a meal in the evenings plus a supper so by that reckoning I shouldn't need a fourth meal at lunchtime right.

I am impressed Sir Cliff manages on one meal a day perhaps it is just our bodies and minds we have conditioned to expect constant grub. Where would the food industry be if we all managed on one meal day they would go bust! Perhaps it is all one big consumerist conspiracy ....

theredjellybean · 11/06/2017 17:50

But sir cliff looks gaunt and odd imo

theredjellybean · 11/06/2017 17:53

Fitbit...join me in virtual runnibg support...I need to start building on my 8-10 km distance as due to do half marathon in October. First 10 km event in 2 weeks. I try to run every other day...and have been going out in all but true storm weather.
So no excuses Smile.

I weighed 70.6 this morning after my run...so pleased. That's 4 kg off since joining up with you lot.
Thank you everyone for support.

FitbitAddict · 11/06/2017 17:56

Good idea red since I have a half in September!! I live in London but I'm doing the GNR.

Bumblebzz · 11/06/2017 18:46

Hope you all had a good weekend. I had quite a few treats but managed to avoid mindless eating (which would have happened before as soon as I'd had a drink or something sweet) and did a big swim yesterday and yoga today. If I take a day off exercise it feels weird now!
I don't think I've lost much in the last few days but my SIL visited yesterday (haven't seen her in around 2 months) and she made lots of comments about my having lost weight so maybe though the scales aren't changing much I'm at least get toned up.

Rebs1988 · 11/06/2017 19:31

I'm a bit late, but can I join ? I'm 138 lbs. I put 14lbs on over the past 18months, I'm 5'4 and petite so I really look chubby. I'm really disgusted with myself :( I'm a mature student on quite an intensive course so I'm on my butt 10 hours a day. Does anyone have any tips or diet plans? I have a healthy diet but I'm such a grazer, especially when I'm at home at my desk!

Gardengirl123 · 11/06/2017 19:56

Hi all, I would also like to join in if that's ok? I have been reading through this thread and feel really inspired.
I am 5'4 and 140lbs, ideally would like to lose ten pounds.

user1497209716 · 11/06/2017 20:47

Hi is it ok if I join? I'm new to the whole chat thing but I go on holiday in around 6 weeks and I really need some motivation so I thought I'd give it a try!

PaintingOwls · 11/06/2017 21:06

Today was a milestone day: I weighed in at 64kg dead on!

However, I had an absolutely abysmal Parkrun on Saturday and I'm currently sitting with my ankle in a support bandage, so fml.

theredjellybean · 11/06/2017 22:50

Oh no owls..what happened

PaintingOwls · 12/06/2017 08:12

I think I hurt it by compensating for a minor sprain on the other foot. Idiot, basically.

And welcome, newbies! I'm a MyFitnessPal fan, I've lost 4kg in 2 months with that, what are your plans?

theredjellybean · 12/06/2017 14:40

oh no owls, what a blow ...

Herbie58 · 12/06/2017 17:56

Hello to all the new posters! Looking forward to join in the torture journey that is those last few pounds!

Well done on losing @theredjellybean! Those consistent losses just keep adding up!

Congratulations @SleepFreeZone - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. But don't worry too much about weight - unless your BMI is ridiculously low, you can sensibly lose weight whilst pregnant if eating well/good foods.

@SleepFreeZone - I only eat one meal a day. I have a low calorie protein shake at 9:30/10am and one at 1pm then dinner at 7:30ish. I normally have an apple in mid afternoon. It's not lighter life or anything like that - I'm coeliac so it's a gluten free thing. I find it so much easier than having the temptation to over eat (which I always will given the choice! 😂).

So I'm another pound down. 9st 1lb. 1lb away from first goal! Yay! Next target 8st 7.
