A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

Brilliant, thanks Sissy I will have to download it again and have a play.

SSYMONDS · 05/01/2017 22:48

I've lost 3lbs in the last 4 days! Yay. I expect most of it was bloating rather than fat, but still, good to see progress! I'm on mfp and if I stick to my limit and don't drink - it seems to work!

NoraBarlow111 · 06/01/2017 06:28

MynyddoeddEryri hi, I've only just discovered her myself, she has lots of videos on youtube. Here's a few links to some of her videos and her channel

So have just done my Friday weigh in and I am down 2.4lbs which I am well chuffed with, especially given that yesterday was my birthday and so I had some of the choc biscuits still hanging around the office, a friend bought me a giant Lindor filled with choc (I only had one) and I drank for the first time this year. We are off out for a curry this eve but I am doing a 30 min HIIT class and going for a swim after today in an attempt to counter balance it.
Well done to everyone else on their losses, let's hope the motivation lasts!!

Well done on the weight losses!
I don't dare step on the scales as I haven't been good... I went back to work on Tuesday, and have only had salad for lunch each day BUT I haven't been able to resist all the left over Christmas chocolates in the staff room Blush then I haven't eaten dinner to counterbalance the calories, so I'm missing proper food and am clearly running on sugar alone...
On the plus side, I haven't had alcohol or a cigarette this year, so that is good Smile

EnormousTiger · 06/01/2017 07:45

About 10 stone here (my scales are quite hard to read) so that's fine. Itw as higher when I got back from skiing on Monday so good must have been done in the last 2 days. I think this is really my starting weight however as I'm really just getting started. Well done to others.

I'm going away in a week's time to somewhere hot on my own in a shack on a beach with loads of daily walking so I expect that will help too.

cathyandclare · 06/01/2017 08:08

Ooh can I join?
I'm short and small, 5 ft 3 and after new year was 9 stone 3, managing to put 8lb on over Xmas and am now a stone over my weight a couple of years ago.

I've had lots of success low carbing, been at it for 4 and a half years now, so going to do that but not quite as high fat, and allowing some pulses etc, so that it's a little more flexible. It's frustrating that a couple of slips over Xmas, and I really didn't go mad, no roasties/bread/pudding/mince pies, can make such a difference.

Also going to do at least 4 HITT sessions a week. I'm 50 this year and so want to be a stone lower and maintaining by July.

I've dropped 4lb of bloat so far, but having a big foodie weekend at vair posh hotel for my mum's birthday, so starting in earnest on Monday.

Well done everyone so far!

twobambinos · 06/01/2017 10:11

Well done to all the losers. I'm still 9St 8. Have had porridge with cinnamon for breakfast this morning it was nothing to get excited about anyway.
Will try drink 2 l of water today. Normal Exercise will resume next week as have been a bit under the weather.
Keep up the good work everyone.

EnormousTiger · 06/01/2017 11:25

cathy, same here. Lower carb works well for me. I tend not to eat breakfast (although I do have cocoa powder, no milk and no sugar and add gelatin powder to it). Then lunch as late as I can manage it (I usually work at home) whcih is usually something fried in olive oil - usually fish with loads of veg with broccoli or spinach on the side sometimes with butter on. Then as little as possible later on (last night was some raw carrots cucumber and a tin of sardines in olive oil).

However the beauty of the thread is people can do what works for them and we are not surrounded by people saying to me and others 10 stone is healthy weight, wish I were that, no need to lose any when I know I look and feel better closer to 9 (or under) than 10.

Colourmylife1 · 06/01/2017 11:31

So I weighed in today and it wasn't as bad as I feared. 9st 8. A realistic, sustainable weight for me is just under 9st so 8lbs to go. I I know that my clothes will already fit better after 4lbs loss. I want to reach my goal my mid-March for weekend away and my birthday. I think that should be doable even though I lose very slowly. I'm doing dry January and not looking forward to the weekend!

Thingywhatsit · 06/01/2017 11:51

Oh can I please join? I need to go get weighed (don't have scales in the house) but I think I am between 10st and 10st7 , I'm 5ft7, I haven't got down to pre pregnancy weight since dd was born 2.5 years ago. (I put on 5 stone 😮😮) Hardly any of my clothes fit anymore. Since ds was born 14 yes ago I have always been between 8st7 and 9st4 - I want to get down to 9st 4 again..... (Pre ds I was 7st9)

Not sure how I am gonna do it, but I am gonna try to do more walking and stop eating rubbish and quit my massive Coke addiction.

PinxTheTinxMinx · 06/01/2017 13:04

Ok dokes, weigh in for me is a Friday morning and I've lost 2lbs since New Year's Eve 🤗 I thought I was 11st 11 but I was actually 11st 13! A whisker away from 12 stone, thankfully I'm on top of it now, so onwards and upwards or rather downwards.

Just downloaded MFP so we'll see if that helps too. Already hit my 10000 steps for the day so everything else is a bonus.

Keep up the good work everyone Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 14:46

Haven't read back yet, but congrats for all the losses!

I weighed this morning and have also lost...2.5lbs Grin

I put this down to not drinking this month and trying to eat a bit less bread/carby stuff, although I 'm not giving the carbs up completely..I couldn't!

spally1979 · 06/01/2017 15:43

Happy Friday all! I weighed in this morning and its a 2lb loss so 10st 8lb. I expected the first few lbs to come of quite quick as its the bloating/extra rubbish coming off. Hitting my 10k steps each day. Feel motivated to continue and looking forward to weighing in next week!

I don't get on with low card so just use MFP and cut out the rubbish!

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 15:55

I made the mistake of weighing myself last night! I find it adds at least an extra albs onto your morning weight.

Won't be doing that again! Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 15:55

extra 2lbs

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 06/01/2017 16:24

Yes I'm definitely a morning weigher!!!

simpson · 06/01/2017 16:39

I don't have any scales either but can definitely feel a difference.

Smashed my 10K steps yesterday, will do it today but not smash as knackered from work. Have resisted the cakes, biscuits, treats at work and stuck to fruit and rice cakes

I have found that I am absolutely starving when it comes to dinner time though!

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 16:56

I know what you mean simpson I'm starving right now and dinner isn't for a good few hours.

The kids are having fish fingers and I'll have to really resist picking at any of the leftovers!

OH and I are having pan fried salmon and salad for dinner this evening. I've just had a snack attack but tried to be healthy and have carrot sticks in humous and peanut butter rather than crisps and chocolate.

Still starving though....

simpson · 06/01/2017 17:02

Oh Dave, are you me?! (Or am I you?!)

My kids are having fish fingers too and I am finding it hard to resist!

I might have a small bowl of soup to keep me going.

I have cut out bread completely and am trying to avoid potatoes as much as I can ie sweet potato chips instead. I am having pasta though.

Pinkponiesrock · 06/01/2017 21:32

I'm away to have a shower and weigh myself, I was even heavier than I though when I weighed in the other day, 10'7Shock
I've run 3 times, done a kettle bell and a yoga class this week with another 2 runs to go before the weekend is out, marathon plan has started!
I've been pretty good food wise, only a few sneaky dark chocs, but I am bad for taking a couple of crisps out of a share bag as I pass the cupboard and pretending it doesn't count Blush
I feel I should have lost at least 2 stone from the pure boredom of clean eating, I do enjoy the food I make but nothing compares to crisps and dips with side order of sweets and washed down with prosecco!

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 22:00

Well I scuppered my good intentions of having a healthy dinner by instead having a takeaway curry!

OH got home and announced he'd forgotten to stop at the shop to get salad!

I have to admit I was secretly a bit pleased as I really fancied a curry, but no one to go with it as would normally do, so not beating myself up too much.

Going for a run in the morning to feel virtuous again.

DavetheCat2001 · 06/01/2017 22:00

'no wine' not 'no one' ffs!

QueenOfHalloween · 07/01/2017 00:03

So i started officially on Tuesday and got weighed today as Friday's is my normal weigh in. I've lost 1.5lbs. I haven't managed to get back on to my normal exercise routine but overall i'm quite happy with that.

MynyddoeddEryri · 07/01/2017 08:12

Congrats to everyone who has lost weight Smile

I too find I'm starving most days by dinner time and sometimes before bed too. Yesterday though I felt like I was eating continuously and MFP still said I was under my calories even without the walk. I suspect I was over my sugar intake though due to drinking half a litre of shop bought smoothie and eating a cupcake. I'm finding the walking is helping a lot though, both with the pain and with my mental health.

It's so great to be around so many people with a similar weight and similar weight loss goal. I find a lot of people in work don't take me seriously when I say I'm trying to lose weight so it's nice to be here.

Thanks Nora for the links, I'll check them out on my tablet later.
