A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

NewYearNewNickname · 01/01/2017 12:20

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

Morning all - can I join?? At last, a thread that mat hes exactly what I need!

Currently weighing in at 9 stone 13 and would like to get under 9st 4 for the 7th February. Like a PP said, I used to drop 3-4lbs in a few days by not snacking but imending middle age has put paid to that! Got down to 9-6 in November but then began the Pill a few weeks ago, had some stomach trouble and Noro, then Christmas. I'm off on a Carribean Cruise if you don't mind, so also need to tone to fleshy and wobbly thighs into the bargain. Bloody dreading how much that's going to hurt.....

singsongsweetly · 04/01/2017 08:25

Morning all. Checking in 2 lbs down. I've cut out the treats and booze and am sticking to 3 sensible meals a day.

B raspberries, Allbran and 0% yoghurt
L tuna mayo salad seeded baguette banana clementine
D small portion of Thai curry.
Water, green tea and only a couple of coffees.
Arranged to play squash this afternoon.

Low Carbing doesn't work for me, I find it too restricting.
Thinking about booking a summer hols and imagining myself in a bikini, not an attractive visionBlush

under60kgbyJuly · 04/01/2017 09:30

Morning all! First weigh-in (I'm in metric, so sue me...) 65.9kg. Well, at least it starts with the same integer I expected...

Hoping to avoid deploying the "write down everything I eat" big gun, because I can get obsessed. Moderation and mindfulness for now, and upping my activity. However, in my 50s and now finding weight just doesn't come off as easily as it used to. Will try to weigh in roughly weekly.

Pinkponiesrock · 04/01/2017 09:42

This is exactly what I need to do too! I'm up a stone on this time last year, want to get back to 9'4ish. If I get too close to 9 then my massive head looking even bigger in proportion to the rest of me and I'm 5'7 so I think 9'4 is probably about right.
I've tried to be pretty good eating wise since the first but ate soooooo much over Christmas, esp as the DC had chicken pox in turn 3 times over just before Christmas so spent a month housebound and bored so ate everything I could see.
I run a lot, got a couple of half marathons in March and a full one in May but I broke my foot in June last year so had 4 months off but kept eating like I would when doing 5 runs a week, not such a good idea.

I was 10'6 before Christmas, add about another 6lbs of pâté eaten over the festive period. I'll go and weigh myself when I'm cleaning the bathroom this morn and report back.

rubblesrules · 04/01/2017 13:11

Ate far too much leftover Christmas chocolate at work yesterday and today lunch was the rejected remains of two happy meals Blush although breakfast was weetabix with skimmed milk.

Might just have more cereal later. Aiming for at least 10k steps.

DavetheCat2001 · 04/01/2017 13:31

Weighing in this morning at 9st 9lb. I want to get down to 9st 3lb as any lower than that and my face looks haggard.

Day 4 of Dry January for me, and today have eaten

Breakfast: a banana
Lunch - 2 egg ham and mushroom omlette, salad. Greek yogurt with blueberries and honey and rather a lot of salty/sweet popcorn..I was craving sweet so went for that rather than the kids leftover Xmas chocs!
Dinner this evening is trout with salad and I WILL go out for a run when OH gets home no matter how cold/dark/wet it is out there!

Drinks today have been 2 cups of tea and water.

LiefieLiefie · 04/01/2017 14:22

Probably about 11st 4 after Christmas, want to be 10st-10st 4.

I have already lost the same amount through calorie counting, smaller portions and moving more, so will carry on doing the same.

shortsaint · 04/01/2017 18:51

First day back at work and I hit the scales this am - omg 10 stone 12. Awful.

Anyway, this is what I am doing ...
-10k steps (or at least 70k average a week if work gets in way)

  • low carbs
  • no alcohol Sun - Fri
  • resume Zumba class
  • no eating standing up / after 8pm (troughing in kitchen being my downfall)

We'll see how it goes - want to be 10 stone 5 min by mid March birthday.

DavetheCat2001 · 04/01/2017 19:45

Went out for my run..bloody cold out there.

Ran just under 7km so pleased with that considering I was craving my sofa and a glass of wine!

NewYearNewNickname · 04/01/2017 21:05

Half a stone by March is definitely doable short!!
And I think you have definitely earned a glass of wine after a 7k run Dave Wine

All good here again today, feeling very motivated at the moment. Think my weekly weigh in day is going to be Fridays as that give me time to pull back any misdemeanours over the weekend Wink

I'm doing Dry January so unfortunately no wine for me! Hoping this will help me lose the weight I have managed to pile on over the last few months.

FiveShelties · 04/01/2017 21:50

I have been logging my Food intake (and alcohol) since Sunday and although I have been far from perfect I do feel so much better and in control. When I think of some of the rubbish I have eaten over the past couple of months to have gained this 10 pounds I could kick myself. Hope everyone is doing ok. Grin

Eebahgumlass · 04/01/2017 22:41

Also feel very motivated newyearnewnickname . I actually feel happier eating healthily and not throwing wine down my neck - I don't know why I do it. I want this weight loss goal to also help me make new healthy habits in general.
Don't kick yourself too much fiveshelties -good to be nipping it in the bud now.

PinxTheTinxMinx · 04/01/2017 22:49

Another successful day, I agree it's a good feeling eating better and not eating crap.

I did have a tiny piece of fudge, my eldest insisted!

TheLongRains · 04/01/2017 23:05

Just seen this, hope it's ok for me to join! No idea what I currently weigh... It's somewhere under 10 stone, but I should be nearer the 9 stone mark ideally. Hoping to be at most 9 stone 3 when I get pregnant (she says, hoping that's going to happen!), and we're already TTC, so I'd better get on this weight loss! Need to do it the healthy way too, not just starving myself for a few days like I'd have done in my youth... Will weigh myself at my parents' house next week and check back with a "starting" weight.

Good luck, all!

Needmorewine · 05/01/2017 10:11

4.5 lb down this morning ! Realise mostly water weight but very pleased. Well done Dave on your run!

FiveShelties · 05/01/2017 10:24

Well done needmorewine - I just love your user name.Grin

NoraBarlow111 · 05/01/2017 10:34

This is just what I'm looking for, I have 9lbs left to lose. Had put on 30lbs, just over 2 stone.

I was on MFP and was horrified to discover that I didn't hit my macros at all. Gave up sugar last year and eat lots of fruit and veg now.

I'm doing the leslie sansone home walks when it's very cold but go for walks normally.

weigh in on fridays

Needmorewine · 05/01/2017 10:35

Grin why thank you !

EnormousTiger · 05/01/2017 11:00

I am about 10 stone 2 - depends how I stand on the scales. I prefer not to be over 9 stone but even 9 stone 7 would be good. So this sounds like the right kind of thread.

I never have lost more than half a pound a week at most ( as never been very over weight really) so not expecting miracles.

Like a lot of average height British women 10 stone is not unhealthy but 9 stone looks and feels a lot better and even 8 stone is only just on the bottom of healthy weight.

Yesterday's newspapers carried research that aiming to lose a lot of weight in a study meant people lost more than when they set a small goal, which probably surprised us all! most people have always said the opposite. Perhaps on that basis I should aim for 8 stone 2. 2 stone. May be not......

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 05/01/2017 11:07

Put on a few pounds over Christmas but want to lose more. I'm 9s 11lbs and want to get down to 9.

Made a good start yesterday. Armed with My Fitness Pal and Fit bit. Went out for first run since Xmas and found it very hard going but mean to persevere.

MynyddoeddEryri · 05/01/2017 20:02

Ooh can I join? I'm only 5ft and this time last year I was 8 st 3 lbs but now weigh 9 st 10 lbs! I feel so overweight and uncomfortable. A combination of eating lots of junk, becoming pretty immobile and being on medication has led to such a large increase in weight over the last year. Even if I got down to 8 st anything I'd feel a lot happier about myself. I have joint hypermobility syndrome and struggle to exercise as it makes my chronic pain a lot worse. My plan is to cut out the majority of the sugar, drink more water and just generally try to track my calories on MFP. I also want to try and walk several times a week even if it's only a short 20-30 min walk it's still something.

MynyddoeddEryri · 05/01/2017 20:04

Ooh Nora what are the leslie sansone home walks?

PinxTheTinxMinx · 05/01/2017 20:49

Steps a-go-go for me, I'm loving the feeling of a brisk walk to get my steps in.

I think my next step is to reinstall MFP, I used to use it and it was brilliant but and this is not a stealth boast we eat mostly home cooked food. By the time I'd added in half an onion, a quarter red pepper, however much mince, glug of passata etc etc I got seriously bored. Although it might keep my hands busy instead of reaching for the wine 🍷

Think it's too early to have lost any weight but psychologically I feel the best I've felt in a long time - thank you ladies for your virtual support 👏🏻

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 05/01/2017 21:33

Pinx on MFP if it's a recipe you make often just add it to the recipes so you only have to do it once. I have veggie chilli and spaghetti bolognaise and leek and potato soup on there. Helps me remember the recipe too!
