A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

I weighted today and I have lost 2 pounds, not sure how, but never the less, I'm very happy. I'm not sure if 8stones 9 it's realistic for me as I cannot remember weighting that low. 9 stones for now

NoraBarlow111 · 10/02/2017 18:11

Corneliagoescamping it's really sloooooow isn't it. I was so naive when I started out last year thinking I could lose it in no time. I had 30lbs in total to lose. I've always been the same weight since my teen years and put this on during the meno years.
I haven't put any of the lost weight back on thankfully, you're doing really well. have a good weekendSmile

EnormousTiger · 10/02/2017 20:55

(I've not been ignoring the thread. Just been ill for first time for almost a year. Once I'm over it (a cold, following hot on the heels of my PMS and then period, but it feels like a dreadful cold one) will get back on track. Well done to everyone)

Anyone losing slowly that tends to be best and how people keep weight off and losing even 2 pounds a month is better than gaining 2 pounds or not losing anything.

spally1979 · 10/02/2017 21:33

I'm still here and plodding along - think I will fall into the category of slow. I really haven't ever had to try and lose weight before, so its tough!
Disappointed that I have put 2lbs back on (heavy cold & period=comfort eating) and despite being very good this week it hasn't shifted. Oh well, I shall carry on.
Well done guys.....keep it up. Happy weekend!

FiveShelties · 12/02/2017 11:15

Stayed the same, so still got four pounds to go. Got to make a determined effort now or this last four pounds is going to take four months to lose - or it may attract a few friends and I will be back to 10 pounds to lose - again.

msrisotto · 12/02/2017 11:32

So yesterday I had put on a pound which I was quite disappointed with as I had been doing alright I thought. So I decided to eat my feelings somewhat and had a creme egg. This morning I'm a pound less than yesterday. Have I found a worm hole?

missfliss · 12/02/2017 15:14

I'd like to join in please.
I'm 5'6 and 11stone 7. Would like to be 10 stone 9 or under.

Reading a a lot of posts herd I feel a bit Shock that a lot of ladies here of my height want to lose weight beyond my target weight ( their starting weight!) . I should feel really chunky, but I don't ?!? I'm a dress size 12-1, and would be ok with a smaller 12.

Just goes to show how we all feel differently.

I want to be smaller, but I start to look gaunt at 10 stone.
I'm on MFP and trying to stick to 1200 kcals on a low carb low sugar diet.

Exercise a bit tricky as I had a foot op last year, still not cleared for running ( which I love)

msrisotto · 12/02/2017 16:16

I think people carry their weight differently which might explain some of the differences in target weights.

Colourmylife1 · 12/02/2017 18:36

I agree it's about body composition and how you carry the weight. I am not tall and quite curvy so I can very easily look dumpy when carrying even a few extra pounds. Equally I think it depends on your history. I have never been super thin so it doesn't even cross my mind to aim for a very low weight.

Corneliagoescamping · 13/02/2017 07:27

Agree about shape, my sister is exactly the same height as me and looks really slim with an extra stone of weight. She has curvier hips and broader shoulders. I have a tiny frame and carry weight on my stomach and face, and can have quite a high body fat percentage when I am a normal BMI. Plus I like being quite slim! Everyone is different.

NoraBarlow111 · 17/02/2017 07:44

Hello everyoneSmile
6th weigh in 0lbs lost, 6lbs still to go. No loss again this week.
February is a no loss month for me so far.

WhisperedLoudest · 17/02/2017 14:25

Hello all - I have a bit more than a stone to lose but im hoping I can join for some motivation.

I'm 5'3" and came back from hols mid Jan heaviest I've ever been (including whilst pregnant Blush ) at 10 stone 11lb.

I was horrified and have lost 8lb in 5 weeks, but desperately want to get down to 9 stone ASAP - which is frankly still too heavy but it's my current goal.

WhisperedLoudest · 17/02/2017 14:29

YY to body composition being different. I put on weight on my stomach and face and have never looked gaunt in my life despite spending most of my adult life under 8 1/2 stone.

Approaching 40 sucks Sad

FiveShelties · 20/02/2017 22:11

One pound down so three to go. I was hoping to have lost the 10 pounds by 1st March, but I cannot see that happening now. But have lost seven pounds since 1st January so am pleased with that. Weight is so difficult to lose once you have lost the same stone about 40 times! Grin

Winealot · 23/02/2017 19:09

Pleased to report I am down to 8st 13lb, that's working out at approx 1.5 lbs per week which is what my Fitbit and MFP goal is. Having to exercise a lot to counteract far too much socialising and wine drinking!
2 weeks until holidays, would be thrilled with another couple off, but can feel myself getting complacent as I feel better for getting these pounds off.
Definitely agree re the body composition thing, I look slim but certainly not skinny - reckon I could lose another half a stone and still look curvy.
How is everyone else getting on, this thread has gone quiet! X

Startoftheyear2017 · 24/02/2017 00:20

Hi I've been lurking, but I've been following this thread and losing weight since 1 January. I'm using MFP and find it really helps. I've lost 9lbs and would like to lose another 3lbs and then maintain. Your mention of complacency drew me to post as I'm finding it harder to keep on track now that I feel I am close to my goal. I'd really welcome tips via this thread. Everyone's comments and updates have been really inspiring!

NoraBarlow111 · 24/02/2017 07:36

Hello everyone Smile
7th weigh in 0lbs lost, 6lbs still to go. No loss again this week.
February was definitely a no loss month for me.

Welcome WhisperedLoudest, Startoftheyear2017

I think a lot of original posters have reached their original goal. I'm still here and check in every week and will carry on until the 6lbs have gone.

spally1979 · 24/02/2017 15:03

I am still here! Scales have shown I am back to 10st 5lbs, so back on track. REALLY want to have a 9 at the start by Easter. Fingers crossed if I keeping plodding along it will happen!

I will keep you company Nora!!!!

NoraBarlow111 · 24/02/2017 15:32

keep the faith spally1979 ,glad to have your company Smile
spring is round the corner which will make it much easier. Went out for a long walk, just got back. Sun is shining here what more can you ask for.

msrisotto · 24/02/2017 16:36

Hello everyone. Just checking back in. I've no idea what I weigh right now but as it's a special occasion this weekend, i'm going to allow a little splurge and get back on it next week. I've not given up though, as the days get longer I am more optimistic than ever that I can do this!

Corneliagoescamping · 25/02/2017 11:24

I lost 3lb then stalled for a week or two despite doing everything right. I was finding it too hard to keep eating 1500 kcal and look after children all day, so had a few days off. Have now started 30 day shred to try and shift final few lbs and have lost another 2lb, so quite pleased.
Main issue for me is eating enough to keep energy up and exercise and then eating too much chocolate after dinner! But I prefer to be really active, eat more and lose weight slowly than to do it quickly and not exercise much. It's slow progress here: 5lb since the start of January and lots of hard work with exercise and healthy diet but I know that once I'm there I can keep it off much more easily than losing it. How is everyone else getting on?

SingaSong12 · 25/02/2017 15:16

I posted at the very start of the thread then went even further away from the weight I'd like to be. Gone back to WW meetings. First WI today. I lost 1 1/2 lb. I should happy or at least neutral - it is an achievement. Rationally I know that it is a good, healthy weight loss. Actually I'm upset because for some reason I'm disappointed in myself. I think it's because other peoples first WI loss has been 3 lb or maybe even 5lb. These members have a lot more to lose though.

Obviously I didn't say anything there - it would be horrible when people are upset because they put on and it is nice seeing others being successful.
Anyone else ever felt like this?

SingaSong12 · 26/02/2017 17:05

Feeling a lot better and able to celebrate the loss.

FiveShelties · 27/02/2017 21:19

Stayed the same at 9 13. I really wanted to be at 9 10 before I went on holiday, but only three days left so will be happy at 9 13, and hope I am not too far away from that weight when I get home. Grin

Colourmylife1 · 01/03/2017 07:28

February was a no loss month for me too. A week long sugar binge really didn't help! So still 6lbs to go. I would like to lose half of that in March but I'm a very slow loser and have lots of birthdays and events this month so don't know if that's achievable.
