A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

I'm postponing weigh in until Feb 1st on Wednesday after a minor incident involving a curry and white wine on the weekend Grin
Am back from a HIIT class at the gym < polishes halo> so back on track.

MynyddoeddEryri · 30/01/2017 08:26

Yay well done Five that's fantastic!

cathy Grin Im the same although I braved the weigh in. Bad move but at least I know where I went wrong this week.

MorrisZapp · 30/01/2017 08:35

Hello, MZ here checking in. I'm heavier than I've ever been and urgently need to lose a stone. I'm a great walker and runner but I eat far too many sweets and snacks.

I haven't gone up a jeans size which I think has led me to denial. I'm so much softer and rounder than I used to be. Also my huge boobs which used to make me feel sexy and feminine now just look pendulous and menopausal.

So.

Running once a week (I do long runs) upping to twice a week when it's light enough for evening runs.

Cutting down hugely on chocolate and junk.

Doing glute workouts from YouTube twice a week (three times? Maybe not realistic) and of course...

Looking forward to summer, when I naturally gravitate towards strawberries instead of bloody Cadbury caramel nibbles... Good luck everyone!

Colourmylife1 · 31/01/2017 16:52

Checking in after a 2 week work trip. I managed to stay off the wine and cocktails in the hotel and ate lots of fish and vegetables. I wasn't able to walk much and my step count averaged only 5,000 per day.
My weight loss since 6 January is a rather disappointing 3lbs and I still have 5lbs to go. On the plus side I feel good and my clothes fit so much better. I am still a bit disheartened though as I'd hoped for a better weightloss. I could put 3lbs back on in a heartbeat!
I'll be joining in Low Carb Bootcamp from Monday to see if I can shift a few more lbs. I had hoped to be at my target by mid-March but that doesn't look likely now.

Finally got a battery for the scales and the damage is worse than I thought : I need to lose 30 pounds to get to 140! Fuck that sounds a lot. Need to lose more than a stone, hope I'm still welcome on this thread!

But at least a stone of that is still baby weight, the rest is Christmas cake. Seems a huge amount but I know it will come off quickly if I stick to 1400/1500 cals per day. Need to start exercising too, but it's hard a. With a newborn, and b. It's too cold for walks with the pram really yet, live in Canada, it's minus ten today!

Been good with food though : had the odd splash of wine, cut my peanut butter ryvita down to one per day, no snacks etc. Been having lentil and veg soup, salads and veg and hummus, boiled eggs for lunches. It's all so boring but I'd rather be a size ten than a 14, that's the bottom line.

Good luck everyone!

MorrisZapp · 01/02/2017 08:39

Aaah christ. Went to body combat last night, first time in years. I used to laugh in the face of body combat, was always down the front kicking ass.

Times have changed! I was a sweaty, struggling mess. I'm taking it as a challenge. By summer I'll be back to my fighting fitness goddammit...

DavetheCat2001 · 01/02/2017 09:16

I'm pleased that I ended January at my target weight of 9 stone 3 1/2.

I think a combination of having a FitBit now and being much more aware of how much I need to move and having had no alcohol for the month has been what's done it. I started January at 9 stone 8, so am really pleased.

It is now going to be the old battle of maintaining that weight. I plan to cut down dramatically on the amount of booze I have generally, make suer I am walking at least 12,000 steps a day and continue pushing myself to run at least 3 days a week.

I have found this thread really inspirational and supportive. Thank you Smile

Winealot · 01/02/2017 11:02

Well, I weighed in and am 9st 3.5lb- down a pound and a quarter from last week. Have been logging on MFP, it does seems to stop me having the little extras that you conveniently forget about!
Was hoping for a bit more, but in the past I often don't lose much the first week and then I get a few pounds that suddenly go. Fingers crossed.
5 weeks today until I go away, would love to see 8 something on the scales.
Think it's doable with some disipline!!
Good luck everyone. X

TheRippedOutPage · 01/02/2017 12:49

Can I join in?

I'm 5ft 10in and weigh 10st 13lbs.

My goal weight is 10st. I have been there before so I know it's possible!
I'm low carbing and calorie counting. Started Monday so will weigh in on Friday :-)

EnormousTiger · 01/02/2017 15:19

Well done to everyone. I've not been on the scales for a few days but will check soon and also my period started today (who has periods at 55 when does it ever end.....!!!!) so I always put weight on just before.

Colourmylife1 · 01/02/2017 15:24

Well done Dave! Maintaining is always the hard bit for me too.

I ended January at 9st 4lbs. I think I lost around 5lbs in total but can't be sure as I don't know exactly what my starting weight was. I wasn't brave enough to step on the scales until my first week of healthy eating/no alcohol had elapsed.

I want to reach around 8st 12 so I have 6 lbs still to go. It's such a long haul but I hope to lose another 3 lbs in February. To do this I will do keep off the gin and wine, walk 10,000 steps a day and follow LC bootcamp.

DavetheCat2001 · 01/02/2017 15:43

Well done to you too colour! Sounds like you and I started and finished roughly around the same!

Would you mind me asking how tall you are?

Colourmylife1 · 01/02/2017 17:03

I'm 5ft 3 with medium build. More pit pony than race horse! I'm in my 50s and my face gets a bit gaunt if I go much below 9st.

Winealot · 01/02/2017 17:11

You're the same height as me Colour! And we are pretty much the same weight, I would love to get to 8st 10 but feel ok around 9 and then lose momentum!
This is a brilliant thread as it's so hard when the pounds don't just drop off despite putting the effort in 🙄
Do you follow any particular diet? X

Winealot · 01/02/2017 17:15

Just seen your post from before Colour and you mention what you do.
My downfall is definitely the wine, I just can't give it up completely as I'm too grumpy but have cut down significantly and have actually been measuring it out so I don't keep topping my glass up!
X

Colourmylife1 · 01/02/2017 18:09

Hi Winealot ( great name!). I'm the same. I get to 9st and my clothes fit ok so it's hard to keep motivated, especially when the last couple of lbs are so hard to lose. It's so easy to put on weight though! I'm determined to get to goal and this thread will keep me on the straight and narrow.

Toffeewhirl · 01/02/2017 18:58

Winealot - I have started using MFP again too. Found it really helpful last time I needed to lose some weight - and it's free!

Haven't made any huge changes so far, but I've cut out the snacks and I'm walking 40 minutes a day, instead of just 20. Still looking into fitness classes. Think if I start by making small changes, I'm more likely to stick with it.

NoraBarlow111 · 02/02/2017 11:17

Hi, well done on all the losses and welcome to all the newbies.

weather is much improved and I have been walking which feels so good.

photo of what I'm having for lunch as I've run out of soup. wholemeal bread, omlette, bacon, watercress, and tomatoes

I shall cook a fresh batch of soup, pumpkin this time.

A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone
MynyddoeddEryri · 02/02/2017 17:22

You are all amazing and so motivating. This week has not been great at all, dreading stepping on the scales on saturday. My depression is back in full force and I'm finding it so difficult not to comfort eat. Also having lots of joint pain so struggling to keep up the walking. Sad

FiveShelties · 02/02/2017 20:44

Well done to everyone for still being here. Grin

Alcohol is my downfall too, I keep saying I will only drink two days a week but am far from suceeding on that front! Hope February goes well. I have five pounds to go and four weeks until I go on holiday so would love to lose that and hopefully not put it back on again whilst away.

cathyandclare · 03/02/2017 08:38

I'm still here but have gained weight despite being really strict and doing a ton of exercise. I've been googling and am going to blame it on fluid rushing into my muscles brushes over fact that tummy feels soft and squishy too

It never used to be this hard when I was thirty-something. I'm a 5 foot 3er too, feel better under 8 7 but currently at 8 12.

Flowers Mynydd I think Jan is a terrible month for the mood, hopefully February will be better

spally1979 · 03/02/2017 09:41

Morning all!
I've decided to skip the weigh in this week as a) my period has just arrived and b) I have had a stinking cold this week so have not been feeling up to doing any exercise, and eaten over my cals.
However I am pleased with the 5lb loss so far so will keep going in Feb, aiming to lose another 5 by Easter at least.

Well done everyone for hanging in there! Happy Friday xx

NoraBarlow111 · 03/02/2017 10:46

Hi all Smile

4th weigh in 0lbs lost still 6lbs to go.
Haven't lost anything this week, could have something to do with eating lots of chocolate cake, I can't resist it. Ben&Jerrys on special offer which didn't help much either. Blush

MynyddoeddEryri don't be hard on yourself. It's better not to walk than to be in pain from walking. I use this guided breath meditation for helping me relax, you may find it useful.

Well done to everyone for still sticking with it, at least we are all still here and that's what counts. Jan & Feb are the hardest months, the skies are mostly grey & cold weather which is hardly inspiring, but hey only 7ish weeks to go until the clocks go back. Looking forward to spring, think I'll buy some daffs today to remind myself.

Have a lovely weekend and be kind to yourself. Smile

NewYearNewNickname · 03/02/2017 12:16

What a lovely post Nora Smile

I am still gently on track. By that I mean I am eating healthily most of the time but not depriving myself of the odd treat too. Have been good on the activity front all month and that has definitely helped, even got sent some free passes from the gym as I am one of the most frequent users in Jan!! That is quite a miracle as until recently I was a real exercise-phob (think I have just made that word up!!)

I weigh myself most mornings. That sounds a tad obsessive I know but it actually really helps me. I write it down so then I can see that although there are fluctuations that the overall trend is downwards and that helps to keep me motivated.

I still have 5lbs to lose to be where I would really like to be so I am just over half way there but I am still really happy with that.

Remember - Slow and steady wins the race!

Well done everyone. I started Jan 9st11 and finished 9st 8, aiming for 3 or 4 more lb by end of Feb. It has been hard to stay disciplined but the end is in sight!! Good luck all
