A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

My walking and cutting out snacks has helped me lose four pounds this week. Will keep on going.

cathyandclare · 04/02/2017 07:29

Well done Toffee that's amazing!

MynyddoeddEryri · 04/02/2017 09:30

Aww thanks all, you're all amazing! I think when the weather gets a little better it'll be a lot easier.

All that worrying for nothing though. I'm now down to 9 st 4.5 lbs - down from 9 st 6.5 lbs last week and 9 st 5.5 the week before - so yay! Perhaps last week was just hormonal. Only another 5 lb until the scales will tip 8 st something!

Well done toffee that's a fab weight loss this week!

EnormousTiger · 04/02/2017 11:49

Very good. I paused from posting due to PMT and my period (when I always eat more and won't go near the scales).... but hopefully back on tack this week. I went on sparkpeople (like MFP tracker but I just happen to prefer Spark) so may be logging what I eat will help this coming week. i looked at gym classes as I pay so much for the family gym membership but never go and every single one I was interested in is fully booked, some with waiting lists right through the week so it was hard enough to get the energy to look them up . Thank goodness the membership can be terminated in May for me as it's money for nothing at present... mind you I could go to the actual gym and use the machines I suppose...

FiveShelties · 05/02/2017 10:30

A pound gone. It has taken me 5 weeks to lose 6 pounds, so not exactly crash dieting! I have four pounds to go and would like to lose that before I go on holiday at the beginning of March. I am exactly 10 stones and my aim is 9 stones 10 pounds, but at the moment I would just love to be under 10 stone. Have a good week everyone. Smile

msrisotto · 05/02/2017 11:50

Hi everyone, I would like to join this thread. I'm 5ft 9.5 and currently 10st 6. I think I want to be 10st - 10st 2lb but feel quite confused about whether I should be aiming to be lower at all. If you're a healthy weight, how do you determine your ideal weight? I know when I was 10 - 10.2, I felt really good, more confident in my clothes etc.

I'm doing no added sugar as that is my downfall. I can't control myself around cake and chocolate! I know i'm all or nothing and nothing is working out just fine (as long as I have cheat days to look forward to. My next is my Birthday at the end of the month). I could never ever give up carbs. I love pasta too much.

I'm losing slowly. 1lb a week at best, stagnating around that time of the month. I'm fine with that though.

buzzpopprince · 05/02/2017 11:58

Hi Ms I have done the no processed sugar and have found after an initial weight loss my weight is remaining the same BUT I look so much better, my shape has really changed, my dresses look nice again, my tummy is flatter and that's helping with motivation. And I found once I stopped a few days I don't crave it so much, or if I try it it doesn't have the same appeal.
I am still drinking wine though! I also have a soup maker which I think helps with healthy lunches. Am hoping this is a slow and steady, now at 9 stone 4, was 9 stone 9 about a month ago.

EnormousTiger · 05/02/2017 12:01

msr, you are very tall. I tell women my average height 5/4 ot 5/5 that anything from 8 to 10 stone is a healthy weight so just pick your preference in there. 9 stone or less tends to look best on me but 10 is not unhealthy just don't like how it looks. You are taller so I would look at healthy BMI for your height and decide if you want to be at the lowest weight or highest or middle weight for that. www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm...pause... I put in 5 foot 10 and it looks like your current BMI is 20.5 which is a BMI many of would like to be so don't get too thin. 9 and a half stone for you would be about 19 BMI so not unweight but probably leighter than you need or want to be.

In fact the NHS likes waist measurements too . If your waist is over 31.5 inches for women the NHS thinks you should lose weight.

I did bikram yoga today which was good. Not dared weight self again though.... I will wait until my period is over.

msrisotto · 05/02/2017 17:27

Thanks Enormous. I think i'll aim for around 10st 2 as, like buzz said, that's when my tummy has been flat and i've felt really good in my clothes. I am careful to make sure I have healthy goals.

Colourmylife1 · 08/02/2017 02:07

How is everyone doing in February so far? This thread is very quiet! Have you all reached your goal weight and disappeared? My motivation has slipped a bit and littke bad habits are sneaking back in! I need to know it on the head or I won't lose any weight in Feb.

Monzeitia · 08/02/2017 06:27

I have been quite because I had a bad January, eating everything and anything, I'm back this month and so far I've lost 2 pounds, just another 2 pounds to be 9 stones, i would love to be 8 stones 9, but people are already telling me that I'm melting away, looking sick and pale, maybe I should stop at 9 stonesSmile

cathyandclare · 08/02/2017 08:20

I'm still here and still need to lost half a stone ( at least)
A friend went to a fitness bootcamp for 4 days and said it was fantastic for resetting her diet and exercise. I'm not sure I can justify the cash, so I'm going to do a DIY one at home/in the gym for 4 days while DH is away.
Just extra classes, lots of nutritious food. I MN work from home, so may base myself at the cafe in the gym instead. My friend did canoeing which may be a challenge in north Leeds, maybe I'll Zumba instead!

cathyandclare · 08/02/2017 08:22

I'm starting next Monday, still sitting in my Jimjams with a coffee now!

EnormousTiger · 08/02/2017 08:48

9 stone 11 which is fine due to my period and now having a bad cold. My teenage son was saying most people lose weight when ill including his friend at school. That has never happened to me. Any excuse to eat.

Winealot · 08/02/2017 11:15

9st 2lb here this morning, down 1.5 from last Wednesday. Am fairly pleased with that, averaging about a pound a week, but it feels sooooo slow!
If I could knock the wine on the head for a few weeks, I think I'd see better results as I'm running and walking a lot.
I just have to keep going! Good luck all. X

Colourmylife1 · 08/02/2017 14:18

Hello again. I'm glad you're all still here! I weighed myself and I've lost another 0.66lbs (very precise as my scales are metric and I have to convert!).

This small loss has given me the impetus I need to carry on for February. I have lost 6-7 lbs since 6 January and I have 4lbs to go. I would like to lose at least half of that in February.

I will carry on doing my 10,000 steps, rain or shine, and I will try to follow Bootcamp light reducing carbs but allowing myself a drink (o two) at the weekend.

Colourmylife1 · 08/02/2017 14:20

Winealot I can only dream of a pound a week. I would be delighted with that!

Winealot · 08/02/2017 16:26

I am pleased really Colour, but it seems so much hard work! I'm running 6 miles at least 3 times a week and other days walking 15-20k steps.
Sadly gone are the days when I cut out chocolate and crisps for 2 weeks and half a stone dropped off!
The joys of being mid 40's I suppose! Every time I want to eat things I shouldn't, I try to imagine the bikini scenario, difficult when it's freezing cold and I'm wearing my pyjamas!
X

Colourmylife1 · 08/02/2017 16:32

That's a lot of exercise. Weight loss aside I bet you feel great and will be super-toned! Wait until you hit mid 50s! I can put on 3 lb in a weekend which then takes six weeks to lose (er... I think there's a lesson in there....).

Winealot · 08/02/2017 16:56

Haha Colour, I sometimes wonder whether one day i just won't care anymore and give in to the fight!
Unfortunately despite the exercise, I'm not very toned - think I need more weights type exercise for that to happen but can't bear to think of that as well.
I do know what you mean about the weekend thing, how does it go on so easily?! X

Corneliagoescamping · 08/02/2017 20:27

I have also been losing about a pound a week, and I'm the lightest I've been for about 4 years since last 2 babies, so I'm really pleased. Have about 3lb to go. Being strict in the week, more relaxed at the weekend, and exercising lots. 9st7lb, aiming for 9st4.

FiveShelties · 09/02/2017 23:06

Still here too. Weigh day for me is Sunday, which is probably a stupid day as my worst days are usually Friday and Saturday. I have four pounds to go, to get back to 9 10 and hoping to get there soon.

I also agree with the comments about 3 pounds gained in a week-end and then three weeks to lose it --- hopefully. Grin

NoraBarlow111 · 10/02/2017 10:32

hi everyone,Smile

5th weigh in 0lbs lost, 6lbs still to go. No loss again this week,
I've noticed my weight loss pattern goes like this, I've never lose consistently and tend to average about 3lbs a month.

NewYearNewNickname, thank you

NoraBarlow111 · 10/02/2017 10:35

Do any of you track body measurements at all? bust, waist, hips

Corneliagoescamping · 10/02/2017 13:19

Nora I am similar- general trend is downwards but there's a fair bit of fluctuation and I lose about 3lb a month. It's slow but I think I can keep it off when I get there so I'm just keeping the end goal in mind.
