I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Sorry to hear about your dad kitkat Flowers

KitKat1985 · 11/03/2017 19:05

Thank you ladies. Flowers I saw him today and he is very frail still and needing a zimmer just to walk short distances, which is such a shame for a man who is only in his 60's who used to be very active, but they are hoping he will be well enough to come home with support next week.

Weigh-in this morning was 11 stone 3 and a quarter pounds, so that is quarter of a pound off from last week, so basically I've stayed pretty much the same. After a rough week I think that's not too bad so I'll take that. Smile

JacquelineChan · 14/03/2017 09:55

Hi All
this is definitely a marathon not a sprint ! i noticed last night in the mirror wow my legs are so much slimmer , and this morning I was dubious about wearing a fitted t shirt , but NO belly overhang . It has taken almost 3 months .... but still , it just shows you.

If we all had a photo shoot next week or wedding/ holiday/ need to slim quickly we would do what they do on these slimming shows, exercise until we were crying and go to bed hungry. We'd lose half a stone in a week but it would be miserable .

I feel boosted and I can see that a healthier lifestyle is sustainable. I might even weigh myself again ! ( but I bet I end up disappointed haha)

TwatteryFlowers · 14/03/2017 17:32

I've lost the 3lb that I gained the other week!

I have definitely found that the more weight I have lost and the more my body has changed, the easier it is to either stay on track or to get back on it when I fall off. I agree re. the marathon thing: if you're in this for the long haul, small but sustainable changes are the way forward.

Hope you're dad is faring well kitkat. My step-dad died of lung cancer just over a year ago. He used to be known for his strength, despite his small frame, and seeing him frail, old and ill after a lifetime of hard work in an active job was heart breaking. Flowers

JacquelineChan · 15/03/2017 18:06

Well I didn't weigh myself for ages to avoid disappointment but I had a pill check at the doctors today so it was unavoidable. And I've lost half a stone ! Finally after 3 months that weight has budged. It's really given me incentive to carry on and thsee summer hols I won't be feeling like a heifer on holiday !

TwatteryFlowers · 15/03/2017 20:33

Yay well done Jacqueline!

JacquelineChan · 15/03/2017 20:59

Thank you - I'm so pleased I did not give up

KitKat1985 · 16/03/2017 16:26

Well done Twattery and Jacqueline. Smile Excellent progress for you both, and thank you for the nice words about my Dad.

Still struggling to stick to strict diet foods as still quite emotional (we now have been told Dad only has a few weeks left, which whilst not entirely unexpected is still quite difficult to deal with). Am walking more now the weather has improved now and baby has seemed hungry recently (I'm still ebf due to madam refusing a bottle) so hoping that will help shift the weight. Noticed today my size 14 jeans definitely feel looser, so hopefully making progress.

Twopeapods · 16/03/2017 16:58

I think I messed up with my last weigh in. The scales said 14.4 but I weighed myself mid week and it jumped to 14.8! DH also said he noticed the scales jumping around, so I treated myself to some new ones which tell you your BMI, water weight and bone mass so that's handy.
New scales said 14.6 on Monday so I will weigh in Monday again.
I've been sticking to around 1200-1300 calories. I'm hoping this equates to a 1-2lbs weight loss a week Confused.

KitKat1985 · 18/03/2017 09:34

Ahh hopefully the more accurate scales help you see the results of your efforts better Twopeapods.

My weigh-in this morning gave me a reading of 11 stone, 1 and 3/4 pounds, so that's just under 2 pounds off this week. Smile My goal is to be 11 stone by the end of March (so my April the 1st weigh-in date), so I've got 2 weeks to shift one and half pounds, so that should be do-able.

Haven't actually really been trying that hard this week. I think the loss is mainly due to:

  1. Stress with Dad being ill.
  2. The baby seeming extra hungry this week, so I think all the extra breast-feeding must be burning calories.
  3. The baby being in a bit of a grump at times, seemingly only relieved by the lovely motion of going for a walk, so have done quite a lot waking this week.
  4. The toddler seems to steal a good chunk of nearly every meal I make myself.
JacquelineChan · 20/03/2017 15:38

HI how are we all after the weekend ?

after my surprise weight loss I went a bit gung ho and had pizza / fish and chips/ chocolate orange ( not all at the same sitting haha)

I was back on the bike at lunch time and sit ups later....

TwatteryFlowers · 20/03/2017 16:35

Well done everyone on your weight loss!

I'm still gaining and losing the same couple of pounds but at least I'm not piling the weight back on like I did before. I have bought some nuts and pieces of cheese to snack on because the chocolate/crisps/biscuits are sneaking back in and the 'snacks' section on MyFitnessPal is getting higher every week so I'm going to reign it in again!

JacquelineChan · 20/03/2017 17:27

it's hard isn't it .... it really is a constant battle

TwatteryFlowers · 20/03/2017 17:55

It is, especially when it's all around us all the time. If it's not Christmas it's Easter or some other celebration. Everything in our society is geared around food and it's impossible to avoid and makes you feel like you're missing out if you can't have it.

TwatteryFlowers · 20/03/2017 22:29

kitkat I reported it as spam as soon as I saw it without actually even touching the link because it just looks so false and the blurb that precedes it screams 'clickbait'.

Twopeapods · 21/03/2017 07:59

Ok, I've have been doing 1100-1200 calories for the past week for about 6 weeks now, and the scales not shifting much lately so I decided to increase my calories to about 1400ish sometimes even 1500ish, and I've lost 4.5lbs!!!!!! How the heck??? Confirmed by both sets of scales.

Is the whole not eating enough thing real?

I'm pleased anyway as that is me down to 14st 1.5lbs so got my first stone! Woohoo!

KitKat1985 · 21/03/2017 08:07

Well done Twopeapods!! Grin

JacquelineChan · 22/03/2017 16:12

Peapods i'm no expert but i think if you eat too little your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to all your fat reserves by slowing your metabolism. If you up it a bit and exercise your metabolism speeds up.
whatever you did worked !

I've had a bad lunch , a crisp sandwich and 2 chocolate biscuits whoops

a healthy dinner tonight methinks ....

KitKat1985 · 25/03/2017 11:28

Wahoo! I reached my halfway goal this morning and have now lost a stone! Just got to lose the other one now! It's slow progress but at least it's progress. Hopefully I'll be able to fit into my 'normal' clothes soon and get out of my post-pregnancy baggy clothes! xx

TwatteryFlowers · 25/03/2017 12:34

We'll done kitkat that's ace going!

This week I'm pleased to just have maintained again after all the crap I've eaten!
