I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Scrolling back up to see where I was last time I mentioned my weight, on 21st Jan I was 9st 2.4. I then went up by 3lb and down by 2lb so I think the last time I wrote I was 9st 3.4. I weighed myself today and I am 9st 2.4 again.

It's a bit annoying that it has been so up and down but when I think about it it could be a lot worse: I had chips at the seaside on Saturday and a lot of chocolate last night - we didn't have any in so I had to scrape the car to be able to drive to get some!

As I'm getting further into my healthy weight range it is getting harder to lose the weight and I'm finding I'm levelling off more and more. This was my plan all along: I wanted to lose enough to get to a point where my weight would stabilise and then just keep eating what I am to maintain it. I just hoped that I would get closer to the middle of my healthy bmi range veggie that would happen (at the moment I'm the top end with a bmi of 23.4)!

Start weight: 11st 4
Current weight: 9st 2.4
Loss this week: 1lb
Total loss: 2st 1.6

KitKat1985 · 06/02/2017 14:32

Grr had a chocolate chip muffin with lunch. Regretting it now. Sad It's not going to be a good week anyway due to DH's birthday which is going to involve a big meal out on Friday and a bug chocolate birthday cake. I'm a dope.

KitKat1985 · 06/02/2017 14:33

^ big cake not bug cake!

Twopeapods · 07/02/2017 10:09

Thanks Green I will do that for sure with those exercises.
Twattery your weight loss has been amazing.
I meant to post yesterday for my weigh in day so first week
Start weight: 15st 2lbs
Current weight : 14st 9lbs
Loss this week : 7lbs

However I weighed this morning and was 14st 11lbs and have started an almighty heavy period. Doubled in pain just now so I'm hoping that the overnight increase is down to that! I've been having period problems (I posted in health recently) and just feeling full and bloated, but have stuck to diet no matter what. Will now just weigh every Monday only.

JacquelineChan · 07/02/2017 11:08

Two peas , half a stone in a week is amazing !
Hope you feel better soon .
I've not been weighing myself apart from early on but this morning I moved my belt on to the next hole ! And I can see my belly just shtinkling every week.
I'm on a painful period at the moment so no heavy exercise today but I've already done a bit of walking this morning and I will walk the nursery run at lunchtime too.

Teenspov · 07/02/2017 21:44

17 year old here, which makes my weight even worse tbh!
Starting weight: 15st 9lbs
Current weight: 14st 3lbs
Lost 20lbs in the past 4 weeks, but I am quite miserable. Hey ho. I drink a glass of water before every meal, and another during. I also have a bottle of water with me at school that I should drink out of more often. 1 piece of toast, a little bit of butter on for breakfast. Salad with some sort of meat for lunch. Tea is normally chicken with veg (mainly broccoli and green beans) or chilli/curry/stuff like that.
Had my usually horrible period last week, only lost 2lbs which isn't that surprising as I wasn't walking as much.

TwatteryFlowers · 07/02/2017 22:02

Thank you peapods. It's taken me over 6 months though and I've fallen off the wagon loads of times - this weekend being one of them! Fish and chips by the seaside and loads of chocolate yesterday (I never eat properly on a Monday because it's camera club night and a bit of a rush between coming home, getting the dc ready for bed and me going out).

20lb is great teens. What is it that's making you miserable? Is it that you feel like you're on a diet and that you're not able to eat properly/feel hungry but as though you're 'not allowed' to eat anything? That's how I've felt in the past when I've lost weight and then very quickly regained it. Have you thought about the types of things that you're eating - toast & butter won't really keep you full or satisfied for very long and neither will salad tbh. What about something like full-fat yoghurt, fruit, nuts and whole milk for breakfast? We make ours into a smoothie (I eat the nuts whole though because they don't blend very well). There are other threads on here somewhere that have lots of ideas for a filling, protein packed lunch and something to snack on mid afternoon. Have a think about your diet as a whole, think about foods that will stop those cravings and reduce the hunger pangs and hopefully you won't feel as miserable? Try to see it as a lifestyle change rather than a short-term diet.

Feel free to ignore everything I've said though if I'm wrong - I don't want to be teaching you to suck eggs!

Teenspov · 07/02/2017 22:10

Everything you've said is great! Thank you so much for all your advice! I don't mix very well with dairy sometimes, but I'll definitely see about switching to a yogurt and an apple for breakfast. Wish I could take an apple for lunch but I only really like them chopped up (ever the fussy child) and obviously not allowed to take a knife to school to chop one up there.
Honestly, the miserable part is just because I had a serious binge eating problem prior to this, been on and off for around 4 years now, and I'm obviously craving the food I used to have. Luckily managed to avoid it mostly. I am hungry quite a lot, but it doesn't bother me too much, will definitely try out some of your ideas though!

TwatteryFlowers · 07/02/2017 22:29

No lol taking a knife into school isn't really advisable! Grin

I don't know how much of your own cooking you do but if you search on here for 'low carb boot camp' (I think it comes under the big/slim weight-loss heading on the main chat homepage) there are a load of threads with recipes and snack ideas that are low carb and higher in either fat or protein, all of which are designed to make you feel satisfied and reduce any sugar cravings (I struggle for ideas because I don't eat much in the way of meat).

Have you had any therapy or counselling (sp?) regarding binge eating? That might help you change your attitude towards food and eating perhaps. My sister did something similar and she found it quite helpful.

JacquelineChan · 08/02/2017 15:03

Welcome Teen . You will find this thread great for offering tips and support !
Twattery i have fallen off the wagon (again ) too. I work from home but today I went to my mums to work ( change of scene ! ) her house is a dieter's nightmare ...it is permanently Christmas here with crisps and chocolate wherever you turn.
I had a snickers and a bag of crisps after lunch ! I wasn't even hungry it was because it was there .
I am definitely not staying for tea tonight - she is a feeder lol
I'm going to get back on that bike tomorrow and do my 5k. I just did some squats in a futile attempt to cancel out the crisps and chocolate haha

thesockgap · 11/02/2017 08:55

Gone a bit off track lately - normal weigh day is Saturday but I didn't weigh in last Sat because my birthday was coming up yesterday and we had a family meal out planned for Wednesday. So I weighed in on Wednesday instead and had lost 3lbs in the 10 days since previous weigh in, which took me to 11st 9.2lb. However the huge meal on Wed and the Domino's pizza we had for tea last night have probably cancelled that out :( I'll be leaving it till next Sat to weigh again, which should hopefully give me time to undo the damage!

thesockgap · 11/02/2017 08:58

Didn't mean to create an advert link for the pizza!

KitKat1985 · 11/02/2017 10:25

Sorry not been on for a few days. I'm loving the advert link for Dominos. Grin

Some great losses recently - well done everyone. Hope everyone with painful periods is feeling a bit better.

Teenspov - speaking as someone who suffered a lot with eating disorders as a teen, try and lose the weight gradually and sensibly, and maybe talk to your GP about some emotional support as well (I hope that doesn't sound patronising - but I got myself into bulimia through similar means and I wish I could have admitted to myself earlier that I had a problem and got some proper support).

DD1 has got a tummy bug. Envy

TwatteryFlowers · 11/02/2017 12:52

It's crap when real life gets in the way of losing weight but I suppose if you can celebrate/commiserate/recover from illness and still lose (or at least not gain too much) then it must mean that you're doing something right.

I keep losing and gaining the same pound so for the last week or so I've hovered around 9st 1 - 9st 2. I'm wondering if I have reached that point where I'm stable; if so my aim now is to keep the weight off - something I have tried and failed to do twice already in the last 5 years. I'm going to keep checking in if that's OK, to keep myself motivated.

JacquelineChan · 12/02/2017 19:53

Hello Losers Grin
Kitkat how is your DD? And have the rest of you managed to avoid it ?
I've had a treat day today as DS had his birthday party today and I was digging in to cake and kids party food!

No idea what my weight loss is in pounds so far but it was great to be able to select an outfit today without worrying about the giant belly I used to have. When I looked at photos of today I was mildly pleased. I ain't no super model lol but I used to cringe and delete photos but now I have some nice momentoes of the day

JacquelineChan · 13/02/2017 12:40

I have not lost any more weight. Apart from the initial 6lb weight loss not one more pound ! So disappointed Sad
How can this be? 6 weeks of diet and exercise. ...my clothes are looser and I'm fitting into things I couldn't before. Why am I so heavy ??

HandsomeDevil · 13/02/2017 12:45

if your clothes are looser then I bet you're adding some lovely lean muscle.

I've shaved a pound off this week, mostly by upping the exercise I think, as I've had a few bad days food-wise.

Start weight 12st 4lb
This week's loss 1lb
total loss 8lb

Teenspov · 13/02/2017 16:15

Maintained this week, but no surprise really as I bought some creme eggs one day last week as a treat, AND had a KFC Friday night, AND had 2 pieces of brownie yesterday...Blush could be worse though

TwatteryFlowers · 13/02/2017 20:27

I've maintained this week too. Most days I've been fine and not eaten too much and then on Saturday night we had a takeaway curry with a naan and I went to the shop and bought a double decker, a Lindt egg and a packet of monster munch. Oops! I only had about 900 cals yesterday to make up for it a little bit though and tonight I've had soup and bread for tea.

Jacqueline even if the scales are showing nothing, your clothes are a better measure of your progress. Try not to lose heart Flowers

JacquelineChan · 14/02/2017 21:03

Thanks but I have already lost heart. I've temporarily thrown the towel in and had a bit of a wine and chocolate binge tonight Sad
I have a couple of trips coming up one work and one pleasure. Funnily enough I tend to eat much less when I am away because I'm busy and occupied, I eat through boredom mainly .

JacquelineChan · 14/02/2017 21:05

I'll get my mojo back Im sure.

Well done to the maitainers and losers this week Star

TwatteryFlowers · 14/02/2017 22:59

We've had mead and chocolate tonight and I had a cheesy tuna melt at dinner time. I'm like you: I snack when I'm bored and I barely even feel the hunger when I'm at work or very busy. If I have time off and the weather is crap the only thing I can usually think to do is to go to a cafe and then I end up buying a big sandwich and a bar of something sweet. I need to think about something else instead. Half term this week and my birthday at the end of it is a recipe for disaster for me!

I know it's easy to say and difficult to do but try not to let a bad week become a bad month and think of the progress you have made - even if it doesn't show on the scales. Speaking from my own experience I've noticed that if I do have a week or two off, when I get back on it again I tend to lose the weight a bit more easily again for a short time.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Hope you're feeling better soon and enjoy your time away Flowers

thesockgap · 15/02/2017 07:55

I've had a small gain today (0.4lbs) but it's not really my proper weigh day - I weighed in last Wed due to going out and my birthday etc so thought I'd hop on the scales again today. I normally weigh on Sat so hopefully in the next 3 days I can turn around that gain :(

KitKat1985 · 15/02/2017 08:57

Sorry you've lost heart Jacqueline. The scales will budge eventually honestly, but plateaus are very frustrating.

TheSockGap I also had a sneaky mid-week hop on the scales this morning (even though Saturday is my normal weigh-in day) and had put on a quarter of a pound. I can't say it was a total surprise though as the past few days has been a disaster. DD1 got really, really poorly with her tummy bug (honestly thought on Sunday at one point she was going to end up on a drip as she was refusing all fluids). This sadly also happened to be the weekend of DH's birthday, and so all our plans had to be cancelled, and I think we just over-compensated and lived on take-aways and chocolate birthday cake to cheer ourselves up. Regretting it now. Hoping if I behave myself for the next 3 days I can at least get a 'stayed the same' by the time Saturday rolls around.

JacquelineChan · 15/02/2017 15:36

thanks everyone, i had a small pity party but back on it today! I did 5k on the bike at lunchtime and have been really good so far today no snacks or anything like that. Working from home has many advantages but maybe I should put a padlock on the kitchen door haha

Twattery happy birthday , hope you have something nice planned
Kit Kat is your DD ok now ?
