I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Well I'm a bit happier this week as I've lost just over 4lbs on my new scales (DH binned the old ones so I can't compare how I was doing on them, which is annoying) but I'm just a tiny shade under 11st 7lbs now which I'm pleased about as I feel I'm getting back on track. With the discrepancy between the two sets of scales, I think I may have lost just over a stone now :) I was 12st 6.5lb on my old scales when I started but given that the new ones set me 2lbs higher, I think I've lost about 15lb in total since the start of the year :) Still a long way to go like, but it's a morale boost!

TwatteryFlowers · 25/02/2017 09:38

15lb is great progress, well done!

I have had a few snacksidents this week, mainly involving those Lindt eggs, so I'm not expecting anything amazing when I weigh myself next!

KitKat1985 · 25/02/2017 13:04

That's brilliant TheSockGap. Well done!

I've lost 1 and 3/4 lbs this week so I'm pleased. Smile Probably not the best weekend ahead though - Christening tomorrow so buffet lunch and cake!

KitKat1985 · 25/02/2017 13:05

Oh and I suspect the deleted message was someone trying to sell weight loss pills or similar. I've seen quite a few spam posts like that on these boards.

TwatteryFlowers · 27/02/2017 08:18

Well done on your weight loss kitkat. Hope the christening went well.

I keep being tempted by all the Easter goodies in the shops and had 5 small eggs in a row the other day and then felt a little bit sick. It's almost like I have no off switch when it comes to chocolates and have to eat it all in one go.
Because of that, I've only lost half a pound and am now 8st 13.4. I'm pleased though; I've gone from the heaviest I've ever been to the weight I was about 10 years ago before I met dh. I just wish it would show on the tape measure though. Even though my smallest clothes are getting to be a bit loose now, my waist is still measuring only an inch or two less than it was 6 months ago Confused

JacquelineChan · 27/02/2017 13:13

hi everybody i am back !

wow you have all done so well you have spurred me on . After my 2 trips away my belly is creeping back but I was saintly yesterday and again today. I am going to dinner with a pregnant friend tomorrow night so a good excuse for ME not to drink .

I haven't had any chance to exercise for ages but this week i will get to it . I am earmarking 2 weeks time for a weigh in

Well done again to everyone you have all achieved so much x

Twopeapods · 27/02/2017 23:54

I'm sorry everyone for joining them disappearing. I managed the first week absolutely fine, then period came and I caved big style! I avoided the scales for two weeks and was surprised to find that I had stayed the same after two weeks of not following. However I have gained back my momentum last week and pleased to lose 2lbs.
Start weight 15st 2lbs
Current weight 14st 7lbs
Loss this week 2lbs
Total loss 9lbs.

HandsomeDevil · 28/02/2017 13:29

helloooo
good to see people are still here and making progress.
I've deliberately not weighed in this week, as I've been away on holiday for a few days, eating my own body weight in local delicacies and not exercising. I can feel that I've put on 2-3lbs, as my clothes are already tighter. I'm back onto healthy eating and exercise as of today, so will weigh in again on Monday with the hope of being back where I left off.

KitKat1985 · 28/02/2017 15:23

Hello! Nice to see people are still here. Well done on all the losses, and to those who have had a bad few days just put it behind you and get back on it.

Not doing too bad this week, although I am treating myself to a pancake later!

TwatteryFlowers · 28/02/2017 16:31

I was about to ask who is having pancakes tonight! I've made the batter already and bought some chocolate spread to use as well as the sugar and syrup we have in the cupboard already.

After that, given that it's lent tomorrow, I've decided to give up chocolate until Easter (despite not being religious). I did it before, several years ago, so should be able to do it again! I feel like I'm losing my way a bit so need something to kick me up the arse and get me back on it, especially as I'm so close to my target now that I can almost smell it.

Isn't it mad devil how such a small gain can have such an impact on our bodies?

Well done to all the losers!

JacquelineChan · 28/02/2017 17:43

No pancakes for me , I am meeting my friend for dinner , it is a fish restaurant so that can be fairly healthy

( I might have them tomorrow though ! )

I will give up crisps for lent .... that is a killer for me

thesockgap · 28/02/2017 19:02

I'm giving up crisps and wine for Lent - my 2 favourite things, therefore my 2 diet downfalls!

KitKat1985 · 04/03/2017 10:49

Hello all. It's been quiet here for a few days. How are you all doing with giving up things for lent?

Bit miffed today as I basically lost nothing this week (well technically I lost quarter of a pound but I don't really could that as a loss). Bar Tuesday's pancake treat I thought I had a fairly good week so a bit down about that. Stupid question but can being on antibiotics affect weight loss? I'm on amoxicillin right now for a wisdom tooth infection.

thesockgap · 04/03/2017 11:01

Kitkat, it's disappointing when you only see a small loss but at least it's a small step in the right direction. On the other hand, I'm back up to 11st 8lb this week :( it's my own fault, as although I've been about 80% "good", on the bad days I had tapas, Indian takeaway and wine (last one before Lent started).
Also have had DH and DS3 off sick this week so haven't been able to get out and exercise.
I will right that wrong next week - back on the wagon in full and at least 3 days exercise planned.
How is everyone else doing?

TwatteryFlowers · 04/03/2017 18:19

I did plan on giving up chocolate for lent but that hasn't worked. At all. I'm poorly, tired and hormonal and have just completely blown all my calories out of the water: Wednesday I had pizza, garlic bread, dough balls and cookies. Friday I had 2 bags of crisps and 2 Malteser bunnies. Today we went out for breakfast and I've just made a chocolate smoothie with half a tub of ice-cream, a big bar of hazelnut chocolate, 2 big bars of milk chocolate and nearly a litre of chocolate milk to share between 4 of us. I know I'll get back on it again in a few days but at the moment I kind of feel like I'm hitting the self destruct button.

HandsomeDevil · 06/03/2017 10:12

Hello all.
So my week off turned into a fortnight off, due to having no time to exercise, plus the usual demon of work stress.

I have weighed in this morning and have GAINED 2lbs as I suspected. I am ready to focusing again on looking after myself, and have been out for a 5k run.

TwatteryFlowers · 06/03/2017 13:17

I've had a week of eating absolute crap so unsurprisingly I've also gained: 3lb in a week. It's quite shocking how quickly it goes on when you fall off track. Anyway, back on it today. We've done our weekly shopping (to be delivered tonight) and have our evening meals planned out again so I know what I'm eating and when and can plan other meals and snacks around them so I don't end up going massively over my limit. I am determined to keep the weight off this time and not go mad again - I've lost weight twice before and both times got almost down to 9st before fucking it off and pulling the pounds back on again.

Good luck to everyone else, hopefully you've all had better weeks than I have.

Twopeapods · 06/03/2017 21:49

I might need to give that recipe a go with the chocolate smoothie Twattery Grin
I was just wondering how peoples period affect them? I put on 3lbs even though I've been sticking with it. Not had crisps or biscuits in about 4 weeks. I'm just spotting today so think it will be 'full blown' tomorrow sorry TMI. So I'm really hoping that 3lbs will go by itself. My belly feels really full and bloated and I just feel rubbish.
Also wanting some advice regarding breakfast. I've taken to having a crumpet with a thin spread of peanut butter and a banana in the morning. I don't have any other bread mostly now and have either soup or salad for lunch. Is this an ok breakfast?

TwatteryFlowers · 06/03/2017 23:26

Ha ha it's delicious peapods, if a little sweet, and if I worked it out correctly it was something like 770 calories per serving ShockShock - hmm, I wonder where those 3lb I gained came from? Grin

Today though I've had a smoothie for breakfast, a sandwich for dinner and nothing for tea because we had nothing in. I had a packet of crisps and some nuts. Tomorrow I'll be having much the same but with fish, veg and new potatoes for tea (in answer to your qu about breakfast I think anything filling and satisfying with protein and vitamins should be OK but I'm no nutritionist so hopefully someone else will be able to offer better advice. We usually have a smoothie made with full fat yoghurt, coconut milk, frozen fruit and some honey or a protein shake thing with some chocolate protein powder, coconut milk and frozen fruit. It's far from perfect but it's quick, filling and easy to wash up).

When my period is due I sometimes gain a few pounds, which I assume is water weight, and get very hungry and crave sugar and carbs - hence the crap diet last week. After that I generally find that the weight falls back quite quickly and easily if I am then very strict with myself for the next week.

JacquelineChan · 08/03/2017 11:25

Twopeas , i am just finishing my period, and the first and second day my belly was HUGE. I didn't weigh myself i think it would have tipped me over the edge ! it has shrink back down now thank goodness.

I have been busy and not too much time to exercise but i've been sensible with food and no wine for 2 weeks . On the whole I am happy with how this is going but I wish I weighed less :- (

Twopeapods · 09/03/2017 14:09

Well I was too scared to weigh in on Monday due to my enormous bloat so waited until this morning.
Start weight 15.2
Current weight 14.4
Total loss 12lbs
This week 2lbs.

Another two off and that will be me at my first stone woohoo! I think I will up my exercise this week as I didn't do as much over the last week. I was trying C25K but I either vomit after or feel like I'm gonna so think I'll stick to power walking to build my fitness more.

KitKat1985 · 10/03/2017 12:43

Well done TwoPeaPods. By the way I think crumpet / banana for breakfast sounds fine.

Oh and I always put on 2-3lbs just before my period started (not having this issue at the moment though as still breast-feeding and on mini-pill which stops periods anyway) so take any pre-period readings with a huge pinch of salt.

Having a difficult week here. My Dad (who sadly has advanced cancer) has been in hospital since Saturday evening and has been very poorly (thought we may lose him at one point). Have therefore been tired and stressed a lot of the week, and spent a lot of week going back and forth to hospital (which is 30 miles away) as well as trying to manage the 2 year old and 4 month old. I have to admit dieting this week has therefore taken a back-seat. I haven't gone OTT but there's been a lot of getting back late and just shoving any old crap from the freezer in the oven, and just eating lunches etc that are quick rather than healthy. Will still weigh-in tomorrow though to assess the severity of the damage but strongly suspect this isn't going to be a 'loss' week.

JacquelineChan · 10/03/2017 15:04

Sorry to hear about your dad kit kat, I already think you are a hero dieting with 2 small children.

be kind to yourself Flowers

JacquelineChan · 10/03/2017 15:05

I've started doing as many sit ups as I can manage each day......

Twopeapods · 10/03/2017 22:28

I'm really sorry about your dad KItKat. I wouldn't worry about the diet front this week and just concentrate on looking after yourself.

I've had a blowout tonight. Feeling rather bad about it. I had a burger for tea with the bread followed by a pancake and chocolate spread.
I have cut out most bread and had no chocolate in over a month. I just took a big fancy for it with a cuppa and went for it. Going to walk to and from work tomorrow to make up for it. It's 25 minute brisk walk each way, and also back to no bread tomorrow.
